Simple Italian eatery serving traditional staples, beer & wine in a casual setting with a patio.
Old school, Italian store and restaurant.
Restaurant 3/5 . Store 5/5
First the restaurant, it's OK, if I'm being honest.
I don't understand the hype in the comments, I get it, It's old school but honestly the two things I tried were very Meh.
Had the Lazania which was not great and the Alfredo Pasta, which was actually decent. Potions were massive.
As for the store, it's a delight to go visit. Find all exciting things Italian.

Nice place and people to enjoy real Italian food. I have been a client since 1993, and the place is nice and clean. The food is delicious. My favorite is beef lasagna with beef sauce. But they have a good selection of other entrees. When I'm in Burbank, I have a fat chance of the restaurant coming to mind.

I love the vintage vibe of this place and it reminds me of the Italian delis back home. The restaurant is very reasonably priced for the amount of food you get, it’s wheelchair and walker accessible and has parking around back and street parking out front. The deli however can get pricey. But great place to pick up gourmet snacks or foodie gifts that isn’t World Market.

Wonderful Italian grocery store and restaurant. While the restaurant lacked quality and is run like a cafeteria, the bakery, deli and grocery store was awesome. Will go back for the Gelato and baked goods. The store is a winner also. Must visit. If you must eat, get the pizza.

Pinocchio’s is a San Fernando Valley institution. If you’re looking for that throw back, old school, down home Italian America joint with all the retro vibes, this is your spot. Red sauce piled high, checkered tablecloths, and Dean Martin crooning through crackling speakers. This place will take you back!

Cool big ol’ school place. Took FOREVER to get served here at the grocery counter, like an hour. Restaurant food was ok (while I waited for my counter number to come up); decent cheap Italian. Good value.

Authentic Italian deli with a ton of cool foods. The "restaurant" side is kind of like a cafeteria style. Stand in line n tell them what you want as they make your plate. Foods is hot n ready besides the pizza which is made to order. The deli/market side is busy busy n everything looks delicious. I did try to buy something on the deli/market side without taking a number because I wasnt ordering anything from the deli and did have a very hard time getting a cashier to just ring me up. I eventually gave up and put my stuff down. Otherwise it is a very cool market and the hot food is really good

I was quite disappointed with my recent meal at Pinocchio's. The pink sauce spaghetti lacked flavor, particularly salt, leaving a bland taste. The lasagna, while visually appealing, had an overly "Americanized" flavor profile that didn't quite hit the mark. Given my high hopes, the meal fell short.

****DOGS (COMPANION OR ESA)ARE NOT PERMITTED IN THE PATIO AREA UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCE, AND THEY WILL NOT BE POLITE ABOUT IT****
Pinocchio’s is a Burbank institution. I have been a patron for more than 35 years. Even though the lettuce in the salad isn’t always the freshest and the tomatoes are sometimes left over from the day before, there is a nostalgia to the place. And that nostalgia runs deep for native Angelinos.
I’ve witnessed the staff behaving less than stellar to the patrons on several occasions. I’ve actually frequented the establishment a little less over the years because of the decline in food quality and the occasional arrogance of one particular staff member.
On my first day off in a month, I was excited to order extra gravy with my eggplant and dip my garlic bread before a stroll on Magnolia. After today I have no intention of ever going back.
I have a small, eight pound puppy that accompanies me as part of her ESA training for my parent with a heart condition. Restaurants have the right in California to deny service to Emotional Support Animals. I’ve never experienced an issue with it personally, however my puppy is contained in a large stroller with a deep bassinet and is well trained to not yelp, bark or cause any general disturbance. So, until today, I have never been asked to leave because of her.
The funny part is that I brought her to this establishment twice before and ate in the dining room. For years, I ate on the patio with my Dachshund. I've never had an issue with a stroller and well behaved dog at Pinocchio’s.
After waiting in line for 15 minutes, one of the employees yelled from behind the counter that no dogs were allowed. There was no discussion, no questions asked, couldn’t show ESA paperwork if that was a factor- just that no dogs are allowed period. I asked my Mom to find a table outside and to take Maggie (the ejected pup in question outside) because there was outdoor seating. It seemed foolish to argue the point even though I felt the way the situation was handled was a bit rude. Before ordering, I asked the employee assisting me if I had to take my meal to go or if I could eat on the patio with my dog. I was told that outside was acceptable and double checked the fact with the cashier. The yelling employee had left the counter when it was clear that he would be my server.
After a tremendous amount of trouble accessing the patio area, I was told by the same yeller that I had to leave. I asked to speak with a manger and I was told that he was the manager. I asked to speak to the owner and he paused for a minute….I wondered if he was about to tell me he was the owner as well.
I was frustrated at this point, because I double checked with two employees that I could still utilize the patio (even though I had dined twice in the dining room with Maggie previously) and now yelling guy was back. At that point and more than 40 minutes after I first stepped into line, I requested a refund and got it.
Pinocchio’s won’t miss by business. They will not change the overall culture of the staff. However. I am profoundly disappointed. I’m disappointed in the lack of professionalism, stated policy and overall poor handling of this situation.
So, I have titled the review “No Dogs Permitted” so those with fur babies who are traveling companions or needed service assistants can skip this miserable scene. I highly recommend Carousel in Glendale as a pet owner. They permit access in the covered patio or the street side patio. Also, they are very welcoming and kind.

I just left the place after driving over to have their food for the first time. I stood at the counter looking at the food, No one was there. Two employees hung out by the drink fridge and offered no help, another employee walked pass me as if he didn't see me there or wanted to walk over me,and then one more employee walked up to the drink fridge and offered no help. I'm sure others have great experiences here, but it was something about me that made this group of employees refuse me service. It's sad because none of these people know me or have ever dealt with me. Huge Judgment Place. So I didn't get to eat there and won't be going back, I don't feel rude deserves community support.

We were a group of 7 and one of us didn’t get their main dish till 20min after the rest of us finished. No apologies, nothing. We had to remind them several times. On top, me and my girlfriend arrived a few minutes after the rest and no server came to our table once to ask for drinks or to even give us water. The food was okay, but very overshadowed by the bad service. I would not go there again.

I've been here a few times for gelato but recently decided to dine in and got a Pinocchio special pizza. The atmosphere of the place is spot on and the place is bigger than you may initially think, plus there is on site parking and would say it's also wheelchair accessible. The ordering of the food is done cafeteria style so it can be a little slow getting through the line but that's more of a factor of the people in front of you and their own indecisiveness. The pizza I got was amazing. One of the best I've had in Burbank since moving here. It was a little light on the sauce for my liking and was just a touch too salty, but I would absolutely 100% get it again. I need to remind myself to do some grocery shopping there next time I want to make a good Italian dinner at home. Highly recommend visiting this place, whether it's for the deli, the food, the gelato.

Was not a sit down and order restaurant. We were standing in a deli like setting in the restaurant area waiting for each plate to be made. Our orders were taken once at a time and handed to us one at a time. By the time we ate all of our food, it wasn't hot and half of our party already finished. Our pizza came out last after we were told 15 - 20 minutes... I ordered the pumpkin ravioli, my plate was full of sauce and only had 6 small ravioli's .

Parmesan. I thought it was silly but instead of arguing I offered to pay for extra Parmesan. “No we don’t sell that” ok. I ordered a large entree and a large pizza I don’t believe I should have to fight a cashier for Parmesan.
Food is good. Portions are good. Prices are good. Service is okay, hit or miss. Tonight my girlfriend and I ordered the beef ravioli with pink sauce, a large cheese pizza, a couple scoops of gelato and a couple canolis.

The food is delicious and the prices are more than reasonable. Get the chef's salad! My only complaint is that we're are here before going to a party, so we were dressed up. We were sitting next to the bussing station and the person bussing tables kinda carelessly stacked and jostled the bin containing dirty dishes, causing a full cup of coke to fall out and all over me and my new party dress. He Was apologetic, and brought me a towel, but I felt like the whole ordeal could've been avoided by being a little more mindful and careful.

I've been coming here for years. Italian deli-market. Not a full service restaurant. You go through the cafeteria -style line with your tray and choose from the menu. A lot of takeout also but has very ample seating, inside or outside, and serves wine and beer as well as sodas, etc. Also has specials. Casual dining. Great authentic Italian market-deli. Pizzas are prepared fresh and really good. My go-to is the lasagna with meat sauce and/or pastrami sandwiches with everything. Ala cart but if you order sandwiches to eat there they come with salads. Definitely a don't miss experience.

Let me preface this by saying that I am Latina and I do have a darker complexion. Anyways, I went in excited to try their gelato, left upset because the individual serving the gelato tried to skip over me for the sweet lady who was standing behind me in line :) (and for more context, she was white).
This sadly wasn’t the only thing that happened. I was waiting in line and right as it got to me, the man left to attend a group of people who had just arrived (they were also white). They were ordering cakes and were at the back of the line but I tried not to think anything of it. I noticed he would momentarily glance over to the gelato line, and at this point I was already waiting for a long time and kept thinking about how odd it was that he left as soon as it got to me to go attend people who had just came in when there was a long line waiting for the gelato. When he finally came back the man had the audacity to point at me then at the lady behind me (and while doing so, avoiding eye contact with me and instead looking directly at her) asking “who was here first”.
With the first interaction alone, even though I thought it was odd, I truly hoped that it didn’t have something to do with race, but with the second interaction I realized that it probably did lol.
Anyways never coming back again, wish I could give them zero stars! If you’re Latino/ poc I recommend avoiding this place like the plague!! :D

I've been going here since I was a child. Got an eggplant sandwich which was written on a chalkboard as their special of the day. Ordered it, after they didn't know what I was talking about. Walked over to it and read it to them off the chalk board. Got the sandwich, had no sauce on it and was refrigerator cold. Who serves a cold eggplant sandwich. Spoke to the manager and he said that is how it's served. He did offer to give me something else. But dang that was horrible. Took it home, put it in the toaster oven and added some marinara sauce. I've introduced the resteraunt to my nephew who loves the pizza. But I was the second in line to complain as a man had ordered 2 pizza, drove there, and they just put the pizza in when he got there. They had 5 guys working at the front and the place was not busy at all. I was going to take something to go too but changed my mind. Food is usually good and lots of parking and tables to eat.

My other complaint is no stroller accommodations. The place is small and jam packed , practically eating next to other people. I had both my kids with me, infant and toddler as I was about to sit the man at the register gestured to the other work to push my stroller out of the way. I saw him as I was sitting and he tried to play it off and ask me if I can move my stroller. Yeah sir sure, even though you just rudely gestured it to your employee. And after you took my money.

I really hate to write a negative review, but I was extremely disappointed with my experience here. We waited for several minutes to order hot food and nobody helped us. There were two workers behind the counter that simply stood there but didn’t say anything to us. They disappeared and there was nobody in line ahead of us, so we start to tell the cashier what we want to order. He says, “nobody helped you?”, then puts gloves on and starts making our food, sporadically because he was also helping other customers and going into the back to make part of our order. I ordered the eggplant parmesan and it tasted really off, almost sour. I think the cheese was moldy. We heard the two other parties on either side of our table complaining about the food as well. We got our money back for that dish, and the cashier knew about the issue with that dish. I don’t understand how we were allowed to order it, or why nobody from the restaurant was going around to let us know the food was no good. My wife got the spaghetti bolognese, which she didn’t enjoy because the meat was really overcooked. I found the garlic bread to be incredibly bland, and not garlic-y at all. I can handle less than stellar service, but with food this bad, I just felt the need to share my experience. It’s literally left a terrible taste in my mouth. Needless to say, I won’t be back.

This place was beyond bad, I was heavily disappointed with the staff and the food, it’s one thing to get bad service then good food, but that fact that it was horrible service AND food? Insane. I will never come back to this establishment, the young gentlemen’s that work the front in the hot food section need A LOT training.

Went to this restaurant for the first time, and the layout of the restaurant ordering area was confusing. Waitstaff was super unhelpful with us and passive-aggressive with me and my friend to the point of being rude. Once food was out, it was bland. The pizza was okay but didn't make up for the treatment. The silver lining was the Gelato staff (2 guys), who were actually nice and helpful. With this, I'm not going back.

I was visiting Burbank with my family and came across Pinocchio's by chance. Not only was the food AMAZING, the prices were reasonable and the portion sizes were HUGE. Everything is authentic and family run, and the atmosphere was classic. For dessert we had the homemade gelato, which was as good or better than any gelato I've ever had anywhere in the world (and comes in a wide variety of flavors)! Then, to cap it all off, I accidentally left my credit card behind. I was panicked when I realized it was missing the next day, but when I called, they had it at the front (one of their staff found it on the floor and turned it in)! Everything about Pinocchio's was just a breath of fresh air, and I wish I lived close enough to come visit frequently. Did I mention they also have a full Italian bakery and deli, and a wide variety of European treats and products (and wines)?!!! Truly a 5 Star experience for what it is. Thank you Pinocchio!

Wonderful Italian grocery store and restaurant. While the restaurant lacked quality and is run like a cafeteria, the bakery, deli and grocery store was awesome. Will go back for the Gelato and baked goods. The store is a winner also. Must visit. If you must eat, get the pizza.

Great place to buy hard to find Italian imports (oils, cookies, Panettone, cheese, coffee, etc.).
They also have some creamy gelato flavors up front as well.

Under $12 for most plates? Old school price with old school cool factor!
PRO:
- Reasonable prices bordering on cheap
- Amazing Italian store attached (4 stars)
- Good selection
- Big portions
CON:
- Mediocre Italian
- Pizza wasn't cooked (sorry I forgot to post pic)
- Hard to find parking
SUMMARY:
My rating is a combo of the restaurant and the grocery store. You HAVE to support local places like this, they are going away much to quickly. But I can't ignore that the food is nothing special but it is local owned by the family and the portions are big. It also checks all the satisfaction buttons!
