Don Cuco Mexican Restaurant

Casual Mexican restaurant with very Ambient themed lighting and plenty of decor. It was a comfortable experience. At my time of visit there was plenty of staffing and consistent check ups on refills and other needs.

There is a free parking structure next door with free 2 hour parking, with multiple levels. Very convenient.

I ordered the 2 Enchiladas plate which came with beans, rice and also a choice of soup or salad, I went with the soup option. I chose 1 chicken and 1 beef enchilada. Overall the plate was delicious all around, especially the soup which my partner also enjoyed.

I also ordered a strawberry margarita which I was asked for a smaller or bigger version. I chose the bigger version which was I believe 13 or 14$. I posted a photo of the size comparison to the water glasses; it was pretty big and no holding back on the alcohol. I would highly recommend.

This restaurant was a gem we happen to choose spontaneously. We got a table outside but the atmosphere and decor inside was very inviting. Food and service was good, the refried beans was my favorite. Recommend if you are in this area!

Wow! This place was absolutely amazing! The service really impressed, before even getting our food... We were served chips & salsa immediately after we sat down as well as water. Our server came 30 seconds later to take our drink order. Once we ordered our food, the salads/soup came immediately. Our server even brought a small sample of the second soup choice for us to try! As soon as we finished any of our food, someone came and cleared the dishes from our table. Not just our server, multiple people. It was amazing. There was never a delay. The food was PHENOMENAL. I wish we saved room for dessert. Whenever we visit California, we will definitely be eating here. Thank you to the staff for the amazing service and food. 🤤😊

Very cute atmosphere. I sat outside and the weather was perfect. The food here wasn’t impressive but there were large portions, unlimited chips and salsa with tasty cocktails. It was a busy night so there was a bit of a wait and the server was a bit pushy for us to order more. Overall tho, I would recommend this spot if you are in the area and want a cute place to eat at.

I absolutely love Don Cucos. Both locations are great, but i am writing about my experience at the Toluca Lake! location. The atmosphere is always welcoming, the food is consistently delicious, and the service is top-notch. I recently placed a takeout order though a delivery service for pick up, and made a mistake, but the manager was incredibly kind, and went out of his way to fix it for me. I really appreciated that thoughtful gesture. Thank you, and I can't wait to come back!

Always good food and good service. Moderate pricing but worth it. Only complaint, dim lighting and bad color combination on menu made me use my cell flashlight, but I am also an octogenarian.

Won't be back... Great place don't get me wrong... But man they marinade everything under the sun! And when you have an autoimmune illness, you know 2 rules NO sauces & NO marinated anything... all their animal product is marinated, chicken, pork, beef, or even steak... If not marinated it's seasoned to death... Hard to find healthy options with that in mind... My boyfriend ordered something shrimp 🦐 sauce was extra salty pretty sure with soy sauce, if I had ordered that I would have returned it salt content was insane, but he loved it! Tortilla soup was delish! Except waiter said NO garlic in it however it was loaded in garlic flavor... Almost forgot even their beans and rice are all garlicked out, needless to say couldn't have neither and had to order veggies instead, no carbs, an incomplete meal

Delicious food, when I'm here in California, it's really hard for me to enjoy a good plate of Mexican food, but I found it at this restaurant, I was left speechless. The tortilla soup is complementary, and I had me a salad instead. Accidentally, they brought an extra cup, and the waiter said we could keep it, I tasted the soup, and it was delicious. Everything on my plate was delicious 😋

What a fun little restaurant. We were walking by this place and decided to go in. It was packed at the bar. All the local people were watching a game. The food was so generous in size and so tasteful. Traditional Mexican food is at its best. Thanks Don Coco for treating us so good while we were visiting L.A....

Here's another old school restaurant that we love. It's cozy and dark and packed in tight! The food is on the higher price side but still worth it. We enjoy the traditional feel of this restaurant. My only consideration is that parking is difficult. So be sure to plan to come a little early to compensate for finding a spot.

It was my first time in LA, and I was so fortunate to be staying so close to Don Cuco's. The staff was so friendly, and they welcomed me back the second time I came in! Gustavo, my server both nights was wonderful! He gave great and honest recommendations and made sure I had the best experience possible. The atmosphere can't be beat, and my only wish is that I had more room to try more on the menu--especially those margaritas! I'll be back!!

So happy we went here! We had ducked into another restaurant on same street but left because of limited/small menu options. Ended up here as a walk-in and they were awesome! Cool atmosphere, dark with traditional Mexican restaurant themes/beautiful tile, stained glass. Got chips/salsa, 3 margaritas, 2 entrees (burrito and fried burrito-each came with rice and beans), 2 cups of chicken tortilla soup for $80! Everything was delicious but probably the best chicken tortilla soup I have had. Wish I lived local, would be a regular!

Great atmosphere, I like their booths. Food is always a delight, as is the service here. Get the Chicken Mole Enchiladas, my favorite.

Parking on the street can be a little hard at times, but with a little legwork it's doable. It's worth it. A little walk after lunch or dinner is a good thing anyway.

Food was ok. I’ve definitely have had better Mexican food. Service wasn’t great. Asked for dessert 🍮 didn’t get it till the end of service even though it was requested for the beginning. Hostess seemed like she had attitude. Never got our tortillas with meal. Had to request it twice until we got them. Came because of the reviews but was disappointed.

Food is not authentic Mexican, fajita plate was 2 shrimp, extremely dry chicken and 3 pieces of overcooked meat. The tortilla soup was the only good thing. Honestly felt terrible for the waiter who was almost literally running to try to get everything done, can’t say I blame him for ignoring my table and having to ask for my refill and the check multiple times. The decor, lighting and atmosphere are nice but that’s about it.

The service and atmosphere were awesome! I got the fish tacos and they were amazing! The only thing I didn't like were the beans that came with it. Outside of that, everything was great!

We love the food here, but there is an older staff member there that has made my wife uncomfortable the last three times. Even though we have a server, he'll frequently come over and stare at her and will speak only to her. This has made us both feel very uncomfortable. will no longer bring my wife here. Again, we love this place but unless staff is spoken to regarding this, I'd rather go somewhere more comfortable for my wife.

To start with the hostess look at us so weird, the server was good very attentive but the food got most of us sick, the dining area was so dark I had to use my phone to see my food and I noticed it was a bit burned, so if you really looking real authentic Mexican food definitely this is not the place we didn’t even finished our food of how bad it was.

Went there for Mother’s Day and ended up with food poisoning. Manager would not come to the phone and seemed uninterested in knowing which dish caused it. It was 67. The Seabass. It tasted undercooked, so I only had a few bites. I still have it in my fridge. I’m going to dispute the charge with my credit card company. I’m I. The neighborhood and have been going there for years, even went there with a large group from Universal. I’m going to share my experience. Very sick and very disappointed!

My husband and I have been coming here since 2008, and we don't just go here on date nights anymore. We bring our kids as well! They have a great variety for the whole family. I always recommend this place for my out of town friends and family and they always enjoy it.
I always get the Tortilla Soup. It's my go-to comfort food.

On this occasion, the meat didn’t quite hit the mark for me. I believe there are more effective grilling techniques that could enhance the flavor and overall quality of the carne asada, as I have experienced superior preparations at other establishments. I am confident that, with some adjustments, you could elevate this dish to meet higher expectations. In my humble opinion, there is room for improvement that could really perfect the dining experience.

Guys, if you are missing that authentic Mexican food taste, this is the place to visit.
Delicious simple food, nothing like the commercial Mexican food you find here and there.
The atmosphere is great, cosy seating with reddish lighting, sounds a bit strange, but creates a nice mood.
If you’re going for spicy, go for Al Diablo stuff, it will spicier than expected.
The borrito comes in a plate with all what you would need, full of flavor and add ons, I had the pulled beef option, a favorite for me.
Fajitas are all in, any choice will work.
A lot of my reviews end up getting good scores, but I go looking for those special authentic places.

Been a favorite all my life, family has been coming here and Simi Valley location longer than I've been alive. Food and vibes are consistently good, always reliable. Salsa is 🧑‍🍳💋, I would drink it like a spicy smoothie if they'd bring me a glass of it. I wish there were specifically vegan and vegetarian options on the menu, but they've never failed me at modifying dishes to make it work. Id love some potato tacos or flautas, or soyrizo anything as an option!

The menu offers a big variety of dishes that really taste like the way done in mexico. The prices are very reasonable. Indoor seating is a bit too claustrophobic for me so I preferred the tables outside which are next to heaters, so it was a comfortable dinner.

When we got there, they said it was probably a 20 to 25 minute wait but it only ended up being about 10 minutes. It was pretty packed but we were able to get served quickly. It definitely helped that they give free chips and salsa when you sit down to hold you over. I got the chicken tortilla soup and it was definitely good, I wish it had more meat in it for a bowl but it was only nine dollars which isn't bad especially in LA. Overall definitely a solid experience.

Nice Sunday meal here in this LA classic that has been in business since 1969. Love the old-school vibe inside the restaurant. The dining room is long and narrow with classic Mexican decor. Service was super fast and responsive. Started with the house Margarita which was tasty but a touch too sweet. Food was okay, not as good as I hoped. Tortilla soup was very nice. Chips and salsa okay, not great. Best parts of the visit for me was the decor and warm service. Street parking was relatively easy on a Sunday evening.

Sit on the patio, the food is always good. This place is a great restaurant to hang out have some good food. They have great margaritas and it's pretty social there.
Parking is easy on the street for free. There's a nice bar inside if you wanted to have a drink and grab a taco.

Went here for the first time, and everything about the entire experience was amazing. From the service to the atmosphere to the food. Everybody was great from the hosts to the servers to the bussers. Very helpful, very knowledgeable and just great. I got the Lobster Enchilada, Chicken Tortilla Soup and Fajitas and it was all great. The margaritas too are delicious. Highly recommend, check out a very authentic Mexican restaurant.

Fantastic food and drinks! We loved our dinners at Don Cuco. Our favorites included the super flavorful Lobster Enchilada, Macho Burrito, guacamole, chicken tortilla soup, fish tacos, and margaritas.

Reserving a table ahead of time is definitely recommended.
Occasionally, there might be the option to wait at the bar – which is a great option because their drinks are delicious.

The restaurant and atmosphere are lovely and the entire team is incredibly friendly.
For a full, amazing meal, definitely visit Don Cuco in Toluca Lake.

If you’re looking for a CLASSIC old school Mexican restaurant, this is the place!
The food is great, the service is excellent!
I recently took family there, they were from out of town, and they loved it! Parking can be tricky, but it is worth it.
I recommend making reservations.

We hadn’t been here in a couple of years and we’re glad they’re still serving some of the tastiest Mexican food around. My buddy and I like sitting in the front at the outdoor tables and chairs under the umbrellas. It’s too dark indoors since there are no windows that allow much light in. I had a cheese enchilada and Chile relleno with rice & whole pinto beans from the pot (frijoles de la holla) lunch. My friend had his usual two beef enchiladas plate and we enjoyed it very much. The service is always friendly and very attentive and I recommend you giving this place a try if you haven’t already.

This has been one of our favorite restaurants in Simi but recently the food has been old and off par. The service is great. The atmosphere is lovely.
I’m not sure what’s happening in the kitchen but no bueno.

Hello. Thank you for caring about your review. I did approach the manager to kindly tell him of the situation. He chose to do nothing and said he hopes they can do better for us next time. I didn’t want to push in our time of conversation since it was getting busy but it’s good to know this is not the first time this has happened recently. We don’t eat out much as a family so when we do we go where we like to give our money. Our friends who have been coming to your restaurant for 38 years had the same experience and upon telling the owner were of course compensated being long time customers. We have many friends whom have loved Don Cucos. We hope to support quality restaurants in Simi.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Don Cuco, Burbank, a restaurant.

I was blown away by the food! The flavors were incredible and the presentation was beautiful. I especially enjoyed the Chicken Burritos & Santa Fe Rolls.

The service was also top-notch. Our server, Diego was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. He made sure that we had everything we needed and that our experience was perfect.
Along with that he arranged the high chair for my kid and provided the perfect atmosphere to keep him happy.

I would highly recommend your restaurant to anyone looking for a great dining experience. I will definitely be back again soon.
