The prices are very good here, and for anyone who enjoys a very spicy salsa, this one will knock your socks off. The service was also very good, and the restaurant had a decent atmosphere

Unfortunately I can't say I was too impressed with the food overall. I ordered a cheese enchilada, and the fried ice cream, along with the chips and salsa. Nothing seemed very fresh, and the enchilada sauce was a low quality.

I really wanted to like this place because of all of the good features above, but they've got to make some improvements to the food, if they want to be the gem that they could be.

this was an average Mexican food restaurant. And I consider that a compliment because most Mexican food restaurants in California are below average. I've eaten this type of cuisine in Texas, New Mexico and other places so I know what it's supposed to be like. My waiter, Abel, was excellent.the only complaint I really have is the complementary tortilla chips. 80% of them were broken into such small pieces and that makes it hard to scoop up beans and rice with it. I didn't like that at all.

Dined here twice while staying nearby. Everyone on this trip agreed Los Amigos was #1 out of everywhere we ate.

•Service 5/5: they never let our ice water run out, promptly served salsa, warm refried beans, and chips.

•Portions & Pricing 5/5: huge servings, easily shareable. Prices are fair given the excellent quality and quantity!

•Tostada 5/5: exceptional flavor, refreshing, not heavy, yet filling, the best tostada/taco salad I’ve ever had! Loaded with fresh crisp lettuce, guacamole, pico de galo, sour cream, excellent refried beans, perfectly seasoned shredded chicken, and I’m not sure what kind of cheese was on it, but it was excellent!

•Mahi Mahi 4/5: my friend ordered this, said fish was cooked perfectly, and steamed veggies were great sides.

•Diana’s Mole 4.5/5: my friend said the mole was unlike anything they’d had before (in a great way). A unique dish worth trying!

•Combo #6 Two Soft Steak Tacos 4.75/5: two loaded tacos, side of rice and beans, and the most incredible Corn Pudding. Two of us shared. Personally, I preferred the chicken to the steak, but it was still great! That Corn Pudding though, it’s a MUST try, I’d never tasted anything like it before, outstanding.

•Classic Margarita 5/5: $7 Margarita Monday! My friend said it’s one of the best margaritas they’ve had, it must’ve been - they got two!

•Martini 5/5: my friend loved this. Strong, great flavor with a kick of jalapeño.

•Carnitas 4.25/5: my friend said the pork was flavorful, came with lots of veggies, and great sides.

I’d love to come back to this area just so I could eat here again, so yep, I highly recommend eating here!

We decided to try a new place, and we landed at Los Amigos Bar & Grill. The interior is what you would expect from an old "Rancho" and there is energetic music in the background but it does not disturb you ( not sure if it was because of taco Tuesday). As the name states, you can expect dishes and delicacies worthy of a bar&grill, as well as drinks. They have an extensive menu with a kids menu, happy hour menu, items a-la-carte, so you will most definitely find something you like. They greeted us with some warm Tortilla chips accompanied by a warm spicey bean salsa and a red salsa. I preferred the bean salsa, it seemed more homemade than the red one. My wife then ordered a Tortilla Soup ( very comforting and tasted homemade), I ordered the combo with 2 cheese enchiladas and a crispy taco, and my Abuelita had 2 chicken enchiladas. Everything was good but maybe the salsa Verde wasn't homemade, it was missing its spicey kick and cilantro. The inside of the chicken enchiladas needed a bit more salsa, so we got some more on the side and they were fine. Overall it's a great place for family, friends or even a date night.....oh yeah, I loved the Flan as well! They make a very firm flan which is how I prefer it, slightly stronger flavor and it would be perfect!

I don't usually write reviews of restaurants but we just went here after a long, hot day at Universal. This hit the spot. Most of the time, Mexican food is Mexican food and it's hard to mess up. The food here is top notch and the taste is several steps above the "norm." One of the best I've been to. Great service. Even the chips are better than your standard chips. I couldn't finish my meal as the portions were substantial. The tacos were stuffed full. Try the mole enchiladas.

I’ve been coming to Los Amigos for well over 9 years, including when there was family karaoke night, pre-covid. My family and I decided to pop in for lunch but once inside, an older server (Carlos) at the front desk was disgustingly rude, and did not greet nor attempt to place us at one of the many empty tables. He turned his head, so another female staff member scurried to greet and seat us. As she did, she asked Carlos, ¿Por qué les saludas?, which means why did you not greet them. He stood there rather confused. I understand there’s prejudice everywhere, but when you are a server, you put your ways behind you and do your job. You make sure that every customer feels welcome. Once seated, Carlos took a moment and then came to our table, but still with an uptight attitude. I decided I could not trust a meal from this establishment nor could I leave the great tips that I give, to an old rude and racist man who did not want my family and I there. It breaks my heart, because we love Los Amigos. Shame on you Carlos, for treating any customer this way. Too bad my kids had to see this type of behavior from a familiar place that we once loved.

First impressions - love the mildly spicy bean dip that comes with house chips and salsa! I can't say that it's my favorite house salsa I've ever had, but it is pretty good for what it is; and it works really well either with the bean dip or on a bean and cheese burrito, over their rice, or when added to tacos.
Also, I kinda love that I have only ever been served fresh warm chips when sitting down at this establishment. All too often I find that dining in at Latin food restaurants comes with sad or slightly cold, maybe even old tasting chips, and that absolutely sets a tone for what to expect for the rest of your experience.

I was pretty impressed by the molcajete that my partner and I shared the first time we found our way to Los Amigos. The last time I'd had one was in Puerta Vallarta, and I don't know many people who can devour an entre the size of a molcajete, so I was excited to see what came out and if we would both like it.
As it turns out, everything that was presented in the dish was excellent, and it was a really fun thing to share, so I would highly recommend this dish as it made it feel like more of an experience for us.

Taco specials are pretty great for the price, and the other combination items that I've had were all tasty enough to keep me coming back.

Somewhat related -
I had read another review from a user claiming that the chile rellano was nearly inedible? I don't know what cook dropped the ball when that person came in, but I've had that same dish multiple times, and even slightly customized, always to my satisfaction.
Usually, I'll do the 3 item combo with a chille rellano, a specialty ordered chicken and green enchilada sauce with sour cream (aka an enchilada suiza), and a hard shelled crispy beef taco... and each time, my rellano has been pretty darn satisfying. The chile is always cooked through, the light egg batter adds creamy texture along with the stuffed cheese, and i can actually taste the slight char from the blistered chile from before it was dipped and fried... so by my nearly 40 years of tasting experience, I'd call that a pretty good rellano.
The crispy taco could be a little more appetizing visually, but it too is always tasty.

If you find yourself dining in, you will not be disappointed. However, if you order takeout, prepare yourself for a potential wait to be acknowledged by the wait staff. The food is worth the it, but waiting 3-5 minutes at the podium when there are no other customers is less than ideal. On the whole, I would still highly recommend Los Amigos.

I finally decided to give this place a try and I was disappointed. I sat outside on the patio during lunch and things started off well with their complimentary chips and salsa and bean dip - all which were great. The problem came when I ordered my main food. Whenever I go to a new place I like to try a bit of everything so I ordered the COMBO#5 w/Enchilada, Chile Relleno & crispy (beef) Taco. What I got was some of the worst tasting Mexican food I’ve had since moving to LA. The sauces for both the enchilada and the chile relleno were inedible and the crispy beef taco was void of any flavor. I’m usually a fan of sweet corn mash at restaurants but I made a terrible mistake ordering it here - I don’t know how corn could taste like uncooked cake batter. Skip this place - there is so much better Mexican food available in the area. Almost any street vendor has food with better flavor.

TLDR - GOOD (chips and salsa and bean dip)
BAD - the enchilada, Chile relleno, crispy beef taco, corn mash

Every time i go here, i have always had such a great experience. Unfortunately, this time when i went, it wasn't great at all. I ordered the Plato de Fiesta appetizer & everything was great until i started eating nachos & there was a huge piece of plastic i was chewing on, thinking it was cheese. They did offer to give us another new one, which i did take, but when the waiter came with it, i went to grab the plate because my toddler was sitting next to me & there wasnt room for the palte at that very moment the waiter tried to set it down & he had no problem lettung me grab the plate not advising me it was SUPER HOT. I burned my hands & told him omg that was hot! His response was, "What, hot, meh, come on, it's not hot." I had literally burned my finger from it & a moment later, i had to ask for some ice for my finger. I let my other son finish his food & then asked for the check to get out of there. I was so mad already from the experience that i forgot to ask for the manager before heading out the door. I didn't appreciate the waiters response when i burned my hand. It was like he didn't care because i had just complained about the plastic in my food. But, if it had been my toddler finding that, that would've been a whole different situation.

California Mexican food is the best! My burrito was delicious, full of flavors and right size. Kids loved their churros.
Service could improve a little as kids had to wait for a long time for their kids meals. Instead of chicken nuggets, they got the. Cheeseburger so it had to be re-done. Server did apologize and offered comp churros for kids.
Also water refills got to be better.
But all and all - solid 4+

Surprisingly average Mexican American restaurant.

The menu is your typical Mexican American cuisine affair. The catchy dated atmosphere mirrors the dishes served. Flavors are on the bland side and maybe a hair under seasoned, but this is far better than overly seasoned and pretentious.

The drinks are also surprisingly average. There is a happy hour pricing option, but be aware they may be for what they consider "house" drinks. The made-to-order "table Guacamole" is excellent, but also felt under seasoned. Medium spicy is really not very spicy.

Friday and Saturday evenings are filled with karaoke fans, so ask for outdoor seating if you don't need the bombardment.

The staff is exceptionally friendly and the service is very good. Los Amigos is a good value Mexican American restaurant. Most Entrees are priced under $20

One of my go to places right around the corner for happy hour. My last experience wasn't pleasant because of the terrible manager. We ordered specific tequila and got served something else. After mentioning it, the manager intimidated his own staff by going through all video cameras. He didn't show us the videos and told us to pay and leave. I like the place and all the staff is awesome, but the manager seems to be a nightmare. Accident or not to serve cheap tequila, that's not how you treat customers.

This place used to be our favorite neighborhood place for happy hour. We live 2 minutes walking from here. Unfortunately we had a really weird experience the last time we went. It was Taco Tuesday, so we ordered tacos, a few drinks and a round of shots of Casamigos, our favorite tequila. The night was wrapping up so we ordered one last round of shots of Casamigos, however, once we tasted them, it was very obvious that this round was not Casamigos. We politely mentioned it to our server. He reassured us that it was in fact Casamigos. We honestly didn’t believe it was. The second round of shots tasted completely different (disgusting). So our server brought out the manager. As someone who worked in the service industry for years, I thought his way of handling this situation was completely unprofessional. The manager was immediately defensive, bringing out their liquor license and arguing with us that we were wrong. He said he could even prove it by looking at the security cameras. He took a very long time in the back trying to “recover the camera footage.” My husband and brother in law ended up staying nearly an hour there waiting/arguing with the manager. After no resolution and a lot of frustration, my brother in law ended up paying the whole bill. The whole experience was really weird. We’re sad to say we will never go back.

Food was brought out within 7 minutes of sitting down! Hot and fresh! Ranchero sauce on the enchiladas was the best I've ever had! We do alot of traveling all the way to New York to Florida and all over California and this was the best mexican food I have had! Highly reccomend. Will be going back when we travel through again!

The food was good and tasted like a real Mexican restaurant. The atmosphere was awesome, and there were lots of locals. Great place to hang out and get a beer. Down side, we had to wait longer than usual to order.

This place is a must stop . The food doesn't get any more Mexican than this place. Large portions, one advance the chips and salsa are so tasty you'll get stuff before the food arrives. I promise you if your a Mexican food fan then you need to put this place on your list.

Come here from time to time. Food is delicious. I usually go for the fajitas, but you can't go wrong with anything. Portions are big. In this latest trip, we had Alfredo as our server, and he was extremely attentive. Great service. Great atmosphere. We love Los Amigos.
