WAY overpriced for teeny tiny portions. We had the veggie nachos, which were delicious. The vegetable melange was so tasty. There wasn't enough cheese, but they were still very good. They were big enough for 1 person. Smaller than a personal pizza. The fried pickles were excellent, as was the Sriracha mayo dipping sauce, but again, super small portion. The street corn was very good, but alas, TINY. AND, they added a charge for cutting the corn off the cob! Not cool. We didn't ask for it to be cut off the cob. It was only 1 cob anyway. Very annoying. We finished with the Mac and cheese which was a big disappointment. It was soupy. Very watery. Flavorless. The pasta itself was cooked fine, but the cheese was very watery and had no flavor. And again, very small portion. I would liken it to a SIDE of Mac and cheese. For $17, we figured it was a main dish. It was also listed as a main dish.

The service was slow and not very attentive. It's also a small place, so it wouldn't take much to keep an eye on all patrons. Despite the overpriced food and so-so service, the atmosphere was GREAT. Vintage feel, cool light fixtures, wood wall fixtures and the bar was nicely decorated.

Our check was delivered in an old paperback, which was unique. But that couldn't make up for the tiny amount of food and the massive check.

I don't think they read or reply to reviews on Google or Yelp, but here goes. Tried this restaurant out yesterday and wasn't too impressed. First off, no one greeted us or other patrons for that matter. You can walk in and they just let people stand there, and theres no host stand or sign or anything. I finally got a woman to acknowledge me and seemed offended and bothered that I didn't have a reservation for lunch, even though there were plenty of open tables. We just sat ourselves after a strange exchange about reservations. The waitress we had was very friendly, but seemed to have most of the tables and was having a hard time keeping up. Hamburger was small, as was the cobb salad, and they were out of chips. Its a charming place though and the atmosphere is great. There are tons of great restaurants in Burbank, so we won't be back. Do yourselves a favor and skip this place and go to Tony's Darts Away down the street or any other place in the neighborhood.

The trendy atmosphere lured me in but the experience was poor.

Our waiter was very strange and a little aggressive. I ordered the skirt steak and it was extremely over cooked beyond well done so it was very chewy and tough.

Prices were quite high as well so left feeling disappointed and not wanting to go back again.

I was a fan of this restaurant and decided to take mother out for a Friday night dinner, but I had one of the most racist, horrible experiences of my life at this restaurant.

My mom and I were accosted by another patron, who drank our drink from off our table and got hostile in our faces while repeatedly hitting my mom in the arm. The patron even started yelling at times. Not wanting to make a scene and trying to deescalate a situation where we felt unsafe, we repeatedly tried to alert our server as it was happening and did mention that we were uncomfortable. Still, no one intervened.

The entire situation lasted over 30 minutes. We tried to explain to ownership what happened and the restaurant is very small, so it’s hard to imagine that ownership hadn’t noticed that at the very least this situation was peculiar. However, it seemed as if ownership did not understand or really care that much about the gravity of the situation. My family and I will not be returning.

This restaurant has become a favorite of mine and my friends within the last year. I have lived in Burbank my whole life and can't believe I have never been here to dine.
The staff is so friendly and fun to chat with. There is never a rush they are more than happy to stop by your table for a few words of conversation. We've gotten to know some by name and always enjoy their company.
There is indoor seating, tables that line the front of the building on the sidewalk, and a back patio with picnic tables (currently under construction). The decoration inside is so classy and relaxing. The hodgepodge of silverware that is on the table is always fun to examine. Your check is delivered in an old book. It's so fun to flip through the pages and even read a paragraph or two.
This restaurant is great for groups as well as an intimate setting for two.
The food is made fresh and delicious. If you are ever unhappy with anything they will always make it right by you. Some of my favorites are the grilled cheese sandwich, meatloaf, macaroni and cheese, fries, chips, and tater tots with garlic aioli dip. Brunch is served only on Sundays until 2:00pm.
Always check out their specials when they have them (they can be found on a separate menu). I have had some of the best steak cooked to melt-in-your-mouth perfection.
Don't forget dessert! There is a featured cake for each day. The cake is baked fresh and served until it's gone. Some of the favorites I have had are the red velvet, carrot cake, chocolate, and lemon blueberry. They also have banana pudding, cholate mousse, and deep fried Oreos with ice cream.
We have been here until closing many times and are never made to feel rushed out the door.
I always leave full and happy. I will continue to recommend this restaurant to anyone who wants a fresh meal with a relaxing atmosphere.

Been going to the place for years. The food remains consistent. It is a wonderful place to bring family, work, colleagues, friends. The setting is intimate . And there is a seating area that’s lovely as well outside the food. Like I said is very consistent. I love the Roosevelt burger, I love love, love the tomato soup. Very fresh! My son loves the chicken sandwich, and the fries. You have choices, vegan, vegetarian, and those of us that like cheeseburgers you have a choice. They have a wine list. It’s cozy, you can upscale dress if you want. Or you can dress down. It is an amazing place to go during Christmas. I’ve been to a few of their parties that have taken over the entire restaurant. The staff is lovely. And the food is cooked to order. They have desserts. I am yet to try because I’m not a dessert eater but it looks tempting.I highly recommend this especially if you’re walking the streets of Magnolia. It is a wonderful break to take at New Deal.

I never write bad reviews but this awkward exchange made me feel like I should. I ordered strawberry milkshakes online after searching for "good milkshakes in Burbank". After ordering I got a call about 5 minutes later that there was no Strawberry left and had to choose between Vanilla Bean and Double Chocolate. I settled for Vanilla and asked for maybe a caramel swirl to which she replied "We're pretty basic here". Ok that's fine.

I get there and scoop the milkshakes up and get to the car and they taste like nothing. Like, literally nothing. And I like vanilla milkshakes, but they should taste like SOMETHING. And we had already paid and tipped and thought, maybe we should just get a refund. So we go back inside and politely let the girl behind the counter know that there's no flavor or anything to the milkshakes. And we could already tell she didn't want to deal with us once we walked back in and she responded with an attitude "that's what i told him on the phone" ... and that's all she said. She didn't offer a refund or ask how to make it better. Vanilla doesn't taste like nothing ma'am. We added chocolate syrup to one of the milkshakes but ultimately they just tasted like cheap gross store bought ice cream and flat milk. So we threw them out.

The place is beautiful though. I wanted to come back and try the food sometime but the interaction with the woman left a bad taste in our mouths. Luckily, one (of two customers dining in that night) leaned in and whispered "Should have gone to Big Boy's Diner" .. which we did immediately after. I know this restaurant/wine bar shouldn't have been the go-to spot for a milkshake but certainly expected something better than what we we're given. Including better service.

I saw this place as I was driving home. Over one hour remaining to be opened. I cook well and they advertised the only other place better than home was “here”, so I walked in. Passed a “busser” wearing a red shirt, and a man with white hair who was facing the door when I walked in. I’m 5’8 1/2 so I’m reasonably visible. Maybe they were short-staffed? I stood there looked at the menu and then just stood there looking around, hungry ready to eat something good. No one ever even acknowledged that I was standing there. So after a while (3-5 minutes) I left. I work in luxury hospitality, and I was a server for 10 years through high school and college. This experience was definitely different from all of my training and years of experience. Maybe I’ll try brunch when it’s not as crowded, or maybe I’ll just go somewhere that understands how simply acknowledging a guest if there is a delay, is a pretty basic standard if they want your business? We’ll see.

I was pleasantly surprised by what I experienced whilst stopping in for drinks and a meal at, The New Deal. When you stop into a bar for a dinner you never know exactly what your gonna get. This experience is one that I will never forget. The service was absolutely caring and very happy to serve.
I always like a good show with an outing and the people of the is biome in specific at quite the conversation out side and was real entertaining to watch.

Now let’s get to the real good stuff… THE FOOD

Mhhhh absolutely, stunning I had mamas meatloaf. Heavenly mother of meatloaf was I amazed. The sweet honey drizzle across the green beans and mashed potatoes had made its way onto the loafy goodness and turned flavors into feelings. I don’t normally get desert but this time I was so impressed with the main dish I had to see what was cooking up on the later half of the meal.

Me and my buddies shared a banana 🍌 bread pudding as well as a chocolate 🍫 pudding.
Oioioi was that good! My mouth is watering at the thought of getting one more spoonful.

Till next time

Nice cut old timey place to go to dinner. However the food was lacking. The tostada tasted sour, the wings were kinda dry with a whole bunch of buffalo sauce sitting on the bottom of the plate. I guess they weren't tossed probably. The Mac-n-cheese was kinda tasteless. While the service was good, the only other item that was good was the pilsner. Also, the prices look to be on the cheaper side, but the quantity and quality of food was not on par. Maybe we just didn't order the right stuff, but a $100 dinner for three of us was not worth it.

Stopped by this spot with my wife the other morning for brunch. We live in the area and had been wanting to try it out for quite some time. Both the outside and inside decor and appeal were wonderful. The staff was very warm, friendly and welcoming. We were seated quickly and received water and settings equally as fast. They offer indoor as well as sidewalk seating. Note that space inside is somewhat limited so most table are set for 2-4 people but they do have the ability to serve larger parties if need be.

I ordered the Omelet of the Day and my wife ordered the short stack of pancakes. I found my omelet to be a good portion and the goat cheese had wonderful flavor to it. The vegies were fresh and the side salad was nice as well.

However my wife's pancakes were a little bit of a different experience. When she ordered they asked if she would like strawberries or blueberries with it. She requested strawberries. When the order arrived the pancakes came plain and we were then informed that they were out of strawberries. The server was apologetic and offered a jam substitute but she gracefully declined. As she began to eat her meal she found the pancakes to be bit dry and tough. As we were in a bit of a hurry she did not want to ask to have another order so she ate what she could and took the rest home.

All in all the experience was good. Again, the servers were kind, polite and attentive. We will give it another try soon and I hope to be able to give it a 5 star after the next visit.

Dinner was amazing and flavorful. We are a family of 4 with kids that are 11 and 15 and everyone enjoyed the food. It was St. Patrick's Day so there was a corned beef special. It was so good, the corned beef was tender, and the root vegetables were absolutely delicious. This was some of the best corned beef I have had in my life. We also had the chicken tortilla soup which had a very good broth. Salmon which was flaky and had good flavor. The hot chicken sandwich which was huge. We had to take a layer off in order to bite into it. We also had the crispy brussels sprouts with burrata. Everything and I mean everything was delicious, well prepared, well plated and flavorful. There were 3 people working front of house that day and they were all very nice. The prices were good for the amount and quality of the food provided. The restaurant itself is small, eclectic and welcoming. I will definitely be back.

I was expecting something a bit more appropriate for a price of $21 + tax and tip. There was an old menu posted outside that showed that the dish originally used to be $17. I suspect the restaurant has increased prices and "shrinkflationed" a lot of the dishes.

2017: I do not give a place 5 stars very often. It cant just be good, something has to put it over the top. For me it was the service Andrew provided. Avoiding canola oil is almost impossible when dinning out and Andrew did investigations on his own accord to make sure we avoided it, made special food arrangements, and provided phenominal personality and service.

In addition, the decore and food add a charming bit to satiate the visual appetite. If you are on Magnolia, skip the line at Porto's and enjoy the personal touch at The New Deal.

Oh, and the food is delicious too!

I’ve only been there twice, but The New Deal is quickly becoming one of my absolute favorite restaurants in Burbank (which is no small feat! Burbank’s restaurant scene has been blowing up the past couple years, and it was already good to begin with).

My partner and I got brunch and l-o-v-e-d it! French press coffee, delicious biscuits, and OH, the eggs. They know how to freaking do eggs.

I got the eggs Benedict with salmon (fresh, not lox). The poached egg was TRULY spot on. The sauce was fantastic (and there wasn’t too much of it!). The salmon had a delicious crisp to it. And it was served on a bed of arugula over a delicious biscuit. It’s actually my favorite eggs Benedict ever!!

My partner got the omelette, and it’s a true freaking omelette. The eggs were perfect, and it was filled with goat cheese and roasted multicolored tomatoes. On the side was a lovely arugula/cabbage salad with radishes and a citrus dressing. Amazing!!

Also!! We kinda love the decor. I won’t describe it, but the palette, materials, lighting, props… it’s all of a piece and sets a fantastic vibe. Plus, the wait staff is cool!

We have a lot more dishes to try, but this is definitely our favorite spot on all of Magnolia. Go there!

Now, I do not like vegan "meat" at all but this sloppy Joe was soooooo good! My boyfriend wanted to try this place because of it and it did not disappoint. I will get it too next time we go! The family/owners were very nice as well. We felt welcomed and taken care of!

Very cute restaurant, reasonable prices, and honestly the best juevos rancheros I've ever had!

I love that they bring out your coffee in a little french press that you press yourself.

Just picked up a turkey burger for 18 dollars. Oatmeal would be more flavorful. Chef laid a bunch of wilted greens with long stems across the burger. Can’t chew them. If they want repeat business, they better figure out a better was of preparing.

I’m pregnant and specifically asked for my burger well done ,as I’m not allowed to eat raw meat.
Came home to a raw burger patty. Couldn’t t eat my lunch.
+ 3 extra sauces we paid for were not in the order.
Avoid take out if you don’t like to be disappointed.

All credit to the theming. It's like being in my grandmother's and eating what she makes...unfortunately, it's like eating what she makes and this grandmother is a lackluster cook. There are plenty of ways to take the feel of the time and step it up and branch out, but they don't seem to have any interest in doing so. The fried pickles were the only taste of newness, and there wasn't enough special there. The French press coffee is pleasant, but the thematically appropriate China cups clash with the drink. The cocktails we're good, but perhaps more effort should be paid to the moment in Captain America where he laments the food of his time

Tried a new place and I’m sad to say that I wasn’t a fan. It left us underwhelmed. The food was meh and the vibe was a little pretentious. $12 for a dry grilled cheese seems like a bit much. On top of that, my order was incorrect. Service was decent so there was that.

My boyfriend liked his chicken sandwich so maybe I just ordered the wrong thing but I’m not sure if I’ll go back.

A great spot for an intimate dinner and great burgers. Their presentation is awesome. Nice down to earth atmosphere and good service to boot. Their bathroom is clean and with plenty to see. Take a look for yourself next time you are in. The food selection varies from savory, to hipster, to mouth watering. There is something about going to a neighborhood restaurant, candlelight tables and good service. Makes you wanna come back for more.

Dynamite. Stunning, what an astounding feasting experience. Brilliant nourishment, flawless help from Andrew, and probably the best mug of espresso I've at any point had. The spot is little, personal, well disposed, and calming. We had the Almonds and Olives, Wild ox Cauliflower, Firm Brussels Sprouts, the Veggie Messy Joe with Sweet Potato Fries, and the Rockefeller Burger, which they lettuce-wrapped for me and gave a side plate of mixed greens substitute. The starters were delectable. The Brussels grows were probably the best dish I've at any point eaten, anyplace, superbly streak singed and covered in (get this) new burrata and a jalapeno farm. Crazy and marvelous. Everything else was flawlessness, including the Russian tarragon sauce presented with my burger. Goodness. We had such an unwinding, connecting with time, and we can hardly wait to return for supper, particularly with the proposals we got from the various upbeat coffee shops!

Creative and delicious twists on American gastro pub classics; however the value for money and service was a little lacking when we went on a Friday night. The mama's meatloaf was fantastic! I really enjoyed the sweet tomato glaze complimenting the Italian sausage used within the mix (albeit using browned butter made the entire dish a tad sweet over savory). The roasted heirloom carrot appetizer was flavorful too with the sweetness of the carrots balanced by the richness of the pesto and burrata. However the $12 house salad was very disappointing as its size did not warrant the price; it even came "deconstructed" to make it look larger. Overall it was ~$100 for one appetizer, one house salad, one entree, and two glasses of wine (with tip). Service was slow up front but then got better as the restaurant thinned out. My fiancée really liked the vibe, atmosphere, and eclecticness of the place; however it can get loud in there (and the tables are close so you can hear conversations next to you). Wines selection was good! Really enjoyed The Pairing pinot noir and the Wisdom red blend. We will be back to try more of the menu.

Went around 1:30pm, was sat down and waited to order. 2 parties came in after me and ordered right away. Count wait anymore so after 15 minutes of not having my drink order taken or food order, I walked out. Never will be returning. Hope the owner can refresh the waiter wearing the Santa beard’s memory on how to serve people.

We came here for brunch Sunday afternoon around 12pm and we had a pretty good dining experience. The place was empty when we walked in, but started to get more and more crowded as time went on. By 1pm it was packed and it got super loud. Thank God we finished when we did because I can't deal with that much noise. I looked over their lunch menu and honestly nothing stood out to me - just basic American food; burgers, sandwiches and salads. Their brunch menu on the, other hand, had much more appealing options. I went with the waitresses recommendation, which was the Huevos Rancheros and it was delicious. Two tostadas, with eggs, cheese, beans, salsa and topped with avocado.
