Obsessed with their Vegan Vaca Frita Platillo! This plate is packed with flavor. I always make sure to add an extra side of their Maduros and a side of their salsa… it goes great with this dish. 10 out of 10!!

The place is very good, the food is 10 out of 10, the waiter's service is excellent, but the cashier's service is terrible. I really don't know how they have cashiers with such a face and such unpleasant behavior with the customer. I met the owner and she is a lady with a temper that she can't even stand herself and she treats her customers badly. I don't know why they have a business if they don't want to serve them well.

totally cool spot that is hidden away in a small plaza in calabasas, but i suspect that they get a lot of love from the locals and the businesses around. i used to work around this area decades ago when i worked for countrywide (now owned by bank of america) so i knew the place where it was located. incidentally there is also a great sushi place a few doors down called shibuya that is worth checking out!

anyway...i heard that their cubanos were amazing, so i ordered one, and no kidding...it is legit one of the best cuban sandwiches i have ever had. very fresh and flavorful, with the perfect balance of ingredients. reasonable price, too. they also had a lot of other things, like the milanese (a special) and of course ropa viejas.

definitely will be back.

the place is super small and cozy, so if you plan to eat here, you might wanna come during off-peak hours.

cute restaurant with fun music, the host was very sweet and there’s free lemon water 😍 unfortunately i wasn’t a big fan of my (margarita) sandwich :/ but i am a picky eater so take that with a pinch of salt. also; it’s normal there for people to chill and study or work so i felt right at home with my journal!

The food at this restaurant was delicious. Being raised with this cuisine I was really craving some pernil and this place hit the spot. Service was great and the general atmosphere, chill. The coffee on the other hand, despite the name, was lacking. That aside I'll be back for the food :) The tostones were delicious!!

Nice little hole in the wall we stopped by on our way up to Ventura to escape the heat. It wasn't too crowded and ordering was simple, just order at the front and take a seat and food was brought to us. Gf ordered the Ropa con papa and I got the Abuelita and both were yummy! The cut up churros on the small pancake was nice and filling and balanced well with the cortadito I got! A great breakfast stop along the way.

Parking can be hard since it's a smallish lot but worth a visit if you're in the area!

We were staying right up the road and walked down to have a quick breakfast. There are so many delicious sounding options it was so hard to decide what to get! I ended up trying to Jerk Pressed Sandwich and it was delicious. So much flavor and just the right amount of heat without overpowering it. The bread was nice and crispy. The service was really fast, overall positive experience and would absolutely come back to try one of their many amazing options on their menu!

I don’t do reviews ever, but I had to leave a review of Cafecito in Calabasas. I grew up in South Florida, so I’ve had my fair share of Cuban food. It’s my favorite cuisine. I moved to SoCal not too long ago thinking I would probably never find good Cuban food here. But the food I just had at Cafecito was, hands down, THE BEST Cuban I have ever had anywhere. I had the lechón plate. The pork was so tender and juicy. The onions were cooked to perfection. The rice & beans were so flavorful. And the plantains were AMAZINGGGG (and I am not a big fan of plantains). This place was an 11/10. Phenomenal. I will definitely be a regular.

I have never been to Peet's, which is mostly vegan from I've seen. If you're vegan and live in the area, you'll never want to go to Starbucks again after coming here. They have several vegan options for food. The sabor sandwich with no pickle was awesome. Also, this is the only place I've been to so far that's offered ICED DECAFE coffee. Starbucks doesn't offer any cold decaf drinks. A large iced decafe capaccinno with 2 pumps of sugar free vanilla here was under 4 bucks. A hot one at Starbucks is over twice that. Also, it's off the main road. So, if you want to enjoy your meal outside, you can do so peacefully.

Wow! We lucked out finding this cute spot! It's a tiny restaurant with only a few tables, but it's so cute! We had no idea what to expect from the food, so we asked for suggestions. The sweet girl at the register suggested the GuavaQ Pork and the Pollo Chipotle sandwich. We asked about sides and she said the potato salad was good. So, we ordered all three items. The potato salad was insanely good! The pickled onions really made a difference. The GuavaQ Pork plate was incredible! The meat was so tender and the flavors were perfect! We were excited to have leftovers. What a hidden gem! Highly recommend!

A gem of a local fast casual restaurant that specializes in Cuban food with the classic Cuban coffee: cafecito. There is a plethora of choices for sandwiches with the Cubano the lead sandwich. Was excited to finally have a Cuban restaurant in Calabasas and not to drive to Orange County or San Diego for good Cuban food.
The food here was a disappointment - my chimichurry steak plate was almost cold, the beans tasted like undercooked canned beans, the rice was OLD, dry and tasteless. The steak was drenched in chimichurry and had a weird taste.
My husband had the Cuban sandwich - it was overcooked and burnt. The meat had an old pork fat smell... I really tried to like it since my steak was awful and I was hungry... I almost vomit both times when I took a bite. The best of our dinner were the yuka fries and Ceviche salad... The service was good, a friendly and nice gorgeous young girl took our order. Her family owned the place and few more locations in Chicago. When my husband asked if they were Cubans the answer was no... Unfortunately still gotta drive south to enjoy good Cuban food...

Used to love this place but last 4 times, (4 times, same issue!l) I’ve ordered online or over phone & sent hubs to pick up, whoever the girl that takes orders over phone has left out stuff & I’ve been charged for them. I call & she says she’ll credit my account and never has, also makes excuses & makes me feel like it’s my fault that she didn’t give me the bag with dessert or sides & never credits my account. Last time, she told me to email the store so they could give me a gift card, I don’t want a gift card, I wanted what I ordered. Also, a few times now, they haven’t used enough mojo so the flavor on the cubano isn’t like it used to be, my fix was to order (& pay for) a side of mojo, which would be fine if they wouldn’t constantly forget to include it in to go order! Sucks, I used to love this place. If you can eat in, great, if you’re ordering online or phone, check every bag and if you’re ordering a Cuban sandwich, get the side of mojo

This is a hidden gem 💎 ✨️ I am a Cuban food snob because I'm Cuban so I'm usually disappointed but this place blew me away when I had the Cuban Sandwhich with a Cortadito. Best Cuban Sandwich ever, the roasted pork is flavored just right, and the balance of flavors in this sandwich was heavenly. I met the owner and had to let him know he nailed it. Honestly I first thought wow this is as good as one from Miami but I had to agree with my husband when he said it was better than the ones we had in Miami. Yo! If you want a legit Cuban sandwich with a real Cortadito ya gotta check this spot out! It's a tiny hole in the wall place created with love as most hidden gems are. The owner whose name escapes me now was a lovely man with a huge heart he knew we had a long drive back home to Vegas so he gave us another Cortadito and a couple of Guava pastries for the road. I had to give this man a hug when he told me he is Lebanese with the heart of a Latino. 🥰

Amazing coffee shop gem in Calabasas, tucked away in a popular but quiet shopping center. lots of great dishes and the café con leche is on point! I’ve been there 3 times this week and I can’t stop drinking it.

I work from home so having a nearby cafe I can stop by and get some emails out of the way and have a great meal with coffee is essential.

Cafecito is the best thing to have ever come to Calabasas. I have never had Cuban food as delicious as Cafecito. Not even Porto’s has their plates as good as here!
The food is delicious; and while I’ve had a few hiccups from here, such as the mamey batido my brother ordered being spoiled or the mango batido giving him food poisoning; the food almost never disappoints. I always get the pork lechón and it is perfect. The meat is always delicious with its beautiful, salty and umami flavor. The rice and beans offer a wonderful contrast to the meat and pairs so nicely together. The bell peppers in the black beans are a great touch. The plantains are the sweet section of the dish that puts it together in perfect harmony, almost like a palate cleanser from the umami of the lechón. If you decide to come to cafecito you have to get the pork lechón platillo. It is the best item in the entire menu. The cortadito’s are a huge favorite of my brothers that he almost always gets after a meal. My mom liked the tilapia platillo and the borracho pressed sandwich; but I think she prefers the pork lechón platillo. I personally prefer the platillos over the sandwiches, but the sandwiches are very filling and great to eat if you’re in a rush. If you want to be full with some leftovers I’d highly recommend a platillo, and if you have any room left in your stomach then a cortadito or a churro is a satisfying finish to a fantastic meal.
One last thing I love about Cafecito is the water dispenser at the front. It’s great being able to get water without bothering the workers.

I wanted to try this new Cuban restaurant in Calabasas. A small place with a big menu and staff that is full of heart. This will be my go to neighborhood place. The sandwiches are large enough to share. The chai is better than any other restaurant or coffeehouse. The chai was full of flavor and they have plenty of the varieties of nondairy milks. For our first visit we tried the Atun pressed sandwich and the Vegan Salsichon Platillo. The tuna sandwich was made on delicious fresh pressed bread and the tuna salad was mixed to perfection with red onions and light mayonnaise. The Salsichon is the the vegan sausage by Beyond Sausage which was grilled just enough so that it was juicy with every bite. We also bought the churros and puff pastry filled with guava. What is a meal without dessert. Delicious. Thank you Phillip. See you soon.

I am so happy Calabasas finally has a restaurant with great Latin food. If you are craving a perfectly made sandwich, this is your place. So far I’ve tried the La Costa sandwich for lunch and I can’t stop thinking about it. I’ve also tried The Ropa Vieja and Guava BBQ chicken for dinner. I would recommend all of them. Their plantains are also amazing and if you get the guava pastry I suggest warming it up in a toaster before eating because it takes it to the next level.

I’m excited to try everything on the menu because I can already tell whatever I order will have a delicious taste.

Enjoy!

The best Cuban food in LA!!!

We went to Cafecito all the time back in Chicago, so glad they’ve opened a location on the west coast. The quality of the food is really unbeatable. I’d recommend the Chivito and the Bistec Con Huevos but you can’t go wrong.
