Been going here my whole life. Never had the potato salad. Wanted to try the potato salad. The macaroni salads always been good. How do you make horrible potato salad, when the macaroni salad is great. Its the same ingredients. Just add mustard and some dill or dont add mustard. It should never taste like diabetes and upper lip toe jam fungus. I couldnt add enough of its own ingredients to make it taste good. Id rather take the physical challenge then have to eat that again. That potato salad is worse than terrorism. That was gawd awful.

I m in love with their Italian subs. Go with the famous Italian, and you can t go wrong. Also, their cannolis are really good and authentic. If you don t want to park in the front, they have some free spots in the back. The variety of groceries is good as well if you re craving some European food. The staff is very friendly.

Breathe in deeply the second you open the door!!! Thats right, Dorothy, youre NOT in the West Valley anymore! You are back East, home (maybe Jersey, Philly, Pittsburgh....) and you suddenly cant remember a Sunday afternoon that didnt smell JUST LIKE THIS MAGICAL PLACE!! The parm, the garlic, the hours-long simmering vat of fragrant, rich, tantalizing tomato sauce (or gravy, depending on your personal memories). Maybe some meatballs are frying, roasting, soaking...doesnt matter. Maybe some pork meat is mingling in the vat. If Grandma or Nonna is there, so is her ubiquitous wooden spoon, her flour-dusted apron with Kleenex in the pockets and her soft, doughy arms are alternately stirring and offering you generous licks of the bubbling, savory juices, steaming until she cools them just right for your preview of coming attractions. For now, Ill leave you right there in that precious, golden headspace. When you come to, make a beeline to Cavarettas. You can thank me later.

Best italian deli in the valley. Best meat balls and lasagna. The Italian sub is delicious and its the bread that makes it. I dropped my 5 star review to 3, they continue to raise their prices, its getting bad. Pizza dough is now $4!!!!!! Wth! Its flour yeast egg and water, thats like 25 cents to make. Their Italian sub used to be $9 , its now $14!!! The food is still great but are they taking advantage???

Cavarettas has the most authentic Italian sandwiches in the Valley, as well as a great little Italian mini mart. I often go when theyre busy, but the atmosphere is so friendly, and the aroma is so enticing, that I really dont mind the wait. It seems as though every time Im there, I meet someone who wants to talk about how long theyve been a Cavarettas customer, and how much they love their food and whole experience!

Weve been a customer since 1969! They have my favorite sign and it rings true. If you cant smell it, we dont have it! Love it! Seriously, one of the last true Italian delicatessens left in the San Fernando Valley. We used to love sneaking off campus and getting our meatball sandwiches for lunch.

Cavarettas has been around forever, but nobody seems to know about it. Its a hidden gem. We had sandwiches, and they were delicious. The rolls were amazing. We couldnt not get a cannoli, and were happy we did. They have a large selection of imported Italian foods, cookies, sauces, spices, and more. There are a few tables outside, well protected from the sun. Theres not much to see except cars going past, but its still a nice place to sit and eat. Tip: Call in your order in advance to minimize the wait while youre there. Parking: Most parking is on street and metered. There are two spots and one handicap spot in the alley behind the restaurant.

Best Meatball Sub in the valley and more! Atmosphere: This is an italian deli through and through, big bonus is all the old dodgers memorabilia everywhere, bobbleheads, signs awesome! Food: Meatball Sub - I dare say this is the best meatball sub anywhere. The soft fresh bread and incredibly juicy and tasty meatballs and the perfectly tangy sauce. Add some pepperoncinis and this is a meatball sub that cant be beat. Cannolis - Fresh made both large and small sizes a must eat. Cookies - All kinds of cookies and cakes all are fresh and all are delicious Macaroni salad - very good, a bit on the sweet side I could see people going either way on this but I love it. Big menu, You can easily find anything you like here. Sauce Tip: Extra Italian on regular sandwich or Sauce on the meatball Drinks: Every canned or bottled drink you could think of. tons of fridges fully stocked Price: Very affordable, the meatball comes in at $9.95 for a small, more then enough just add a pack of chips. Parking: They have a lot in the back entrance with 5 or 6 spots. Meters in the front and side street. Go a couple of feet towards the neighborhood and avoid the meters for free. Service: Extremely friendly staff. They are ALWAYS busy but they get to you quick. The number system is tried and true and works very well here. Easily the best place for a deli style sandwich in the Valley. puts the rest of the options to shame.

We had heard about Cavarettas from a segment shown on KABC7 and decided to try it out. Parking is very limited on Sherman Way and in the back Alley. We wrongly thought that we could eat there but only 3 tables inside and 2 outside in blazing sun makes it almost impossible so were forced to eat in our Car which was a mess. Although there exists a small menu, there are many different items in the store section of the Deli. So much in a small space you could spend over an hour checking out the various items. On the walls, shelves, and near cieling are collections of photos, Bobbleheads, signs, Christmas Stockings, and much more. The service was good and many people come in to take out. We had Deli sandwiches that were fairly good and reasonably priced. Inside of several glass covered Deli displays are many Cheeses, deserts and meats. Wine and beer and many other drinks are in glass refrigerated coolers. This Deli has been there since 1959 and caters to the people in the surrounding area.

the sandwiches are good, the products are great, but all it takes is a sour experience to ruin a place forever. Ive spent collectively thousands here over the course of my lifetime, from lunch to standard groceries, youd think that merits more than being treated as an inconvenience by the folks on the other side of the counter. I get it. Work sucks, youre busy, and you yourself may been having a bad day, but being just plain rude is inexcusable.

Let me start off by saying we love this place and there food.We have been frequenting Cavarettas for almost 25 years and taken every family member we have here to get a sandwhich , Pasta, or there bakery goods or all three. But recently we have had the worst service and the sloppiest sandwiches made by the young lady up front. 3 times now and the first time I thought that s funny that s never happened here maybe it was just a off day so we went back like we always do and it happened again sloppy, rude. So this morning went in first thing at 10am when they opened and thought how can this be bad. We ll I was wrong. Needless to say after all these years I will drive across the valley to San Carlo deli. Thank you.

True confession, I love delis, especially Italian ones. When I walk in to a great deli and smell the meatballs and sausage and onions and peppers, I am transported to the ethereal realm. Cavarettas is such a place. Locals will happily regale you with stories of how present owner was working at another deli as a kid and then purchased this place (evidently creating a rift between the old and the new clientele) but that was a long long time ago and those who wounds have healed... Largely. Anyway, this is a great place. The sandwiches are also fantastic and the meats and cheeses from the counter or second to none.

Italian Wine Selection, Check!, and probably one of my favorite most ridiculously good in house made Lasagnas, that they make from scratch daily. The sign in the deli says it best. Feels like walking an Italian home, filled with good food and wonderful things to look at. We had to get back to LA quick or we would have bought half of the store. Anything you want from pasta, sauces, appetizers, drinks, wines, bread, and many more wonderful and delicious treats. Make sure you spend a good half hour browsing through things!
