NM Cafe

We used to visit the NM Cafe in Chicago before moving to Calabasas, California. The difference between the two is night and day. The attitude in Calabasas is sky-high, but the service and quality are far below expectations. We’ve visited this location three times, and each experience has been worse than the last.

Despite having reservations, we’ve had to wait to be seated, even with plenty of open tables, which is ridiculous. We've seen only two or three waitstaff, all of whom are clearly overworked and serve with visible frustration. Our orders consistently arrive late and cold—even the soups. On our most recent visit, they didn’t bring their usual consommé and popovers. After waiting 20 minutes, we asked about it, and they told us they were out. They could have at least apologized or mentioned this when seating us—it’s a matter of professionalism.

Additionally, a couple of items we ordered never arrived, and by that point, we saw no point in complaining. We just paid and left. Oh, and the place was dirty and untidy. Who’s in charge of this dump?! Spare us the attitude, NM. You have nothing to justify it.

I like the surroundings and the meal, the popover goes very well with the strawberry cream. There were not many choices on the menu since the pandemic, but still served with great flavor and quality. I ordered the NM classic sandwich (chicken salad), and the fries were so good! The dessert of chocloate cookie with ice cream were amazing, definitely recommend for those who were sweet-toothed!

I come here periodically with several special friends. However, due to NM management’s decision to delete any reference to Christmas from the new catalogue, I will no longer be supporting Neiman Marcus in any way.

What happened to NM Cafe? Lunch yesterday ordered a Pomegranate Paloma and it comes out clear, no flavor at all. Soda water. Sent it back and had a Cosmopolitan. Ordered the Turkey club with fries. It took 45 minutes to get our sandwich and then the it was cold, bread wasn’t toasted, replaced Swiss cheese with cheddar. The sandwich was awful. We weren’t asked how the food wasn’t and I think I know why. He knew it was bad. Thank goodness for the fries and the chicken broth. We loved going there for lunch and a cocktail while shopping. The food was outstanding and the service impeccable but sadly that is no longer the case and yesterday was our last time.

The best service came from the busser.

Definitely recommended. We only got hot beverages and cake but they were awesome as well as the service. We were surprised by the pricing that was more than fair

I recently dined here and it left me with mixed feelings. The food was undoubtedly exceptional, boasting flavors and presentation that truly delighted my taste buds. However, my experience was marred by the service. Our waitress appeared to be in a hurry to close up for the night, and her attitude conveyed a lack of enthusiasm. This was disappointing, especially given the establishment's reputation and pricing. While the culinary offerings were outstanding, the subpar service and unwelcoming demeanor left a lasting impression that overshadowed an otherwise enjoyable meal.

The restaurant isn t what it used to be. The service was just fair, and the food over cooked; the broccolini was burnt and the hamburger over cooked and dry. I had to place my dishes on another table to get them removed in a timely manner. My friend waited some time to have her burger replaced though happily she enjoyed it when it finally arrived. We had to ask for cold water instead of being asked what we wanted to drink. This used to be an elegant experience. My friend and I were very disappointed. Finally, the menu changes resulted in there being no Cobb or typical luncheon salad and the popover was dry. I have no desire to return unfortunately.
