First time here and I will definitely be back! One of the best maple bars I’ve had in San Diego- the donut is fluffy, soft, airy, and overall delightful texture with the perfect amount of maple icing. Just dreamy! The blueberry buttermilk bar was solid for an old-fashioned cake donut. I’ve had better Mexican wedding cookies (they were a little on the dry side). I can’t wait to return and try some more baked goods. Nice selection of donuts, cakes, cookies, cupcakes. And friendly service, too!👌🏼

My family has been coming to VGs since I was a kid. They have the best donuts around! Prices have gone up significantly and the service at the counter can be a hit or miss but the donuts are always fantastic. Bring Cash! Naturally, we chose them to cater the desserts and cake for our wedding last year and they were fantastic. We had an awesome array of donuts, cookies, brownies, and had the red velvet cake, and marble cake with oreo filling. They were all a hit! I'm so glad I was able to have them as part of our special day. The catering team was great to work with and super responsive, and helpful. They even let you take cake home to try out before ordering, which was super fun! Thanks VGs for being a part of our family for over 40 years and for making our day sweet!

I love this place. The food, the workers, the customers, and the vibe. Every time I'm in Cardiff I usually stop by. Sadly, by noon, they were out of their wonderful maple bars. But I was able to score a maple glazed donut. Which is basically the same thing but just double the glaze. Hubby was totally happy with that. Thought the pie was cherry. Ended up being blueberry. Hubby is the pie aficionado in the family and he said it was pretty darn good. Taking a piece over to my dad today.

If you’re going here around the holidays make sure to go super early in the morning because they sell out of everything except some whole cakes around 11am. I wanted cinnamon roll donuts but they were sold out so I got some other donuts and cupcakes.

They also have special cronuts Friday-Sunday only.

Parking lot is tiny and impossible to find parking so I found street parking nearby.

They also have an outdoor patio seating if you want to eat there.

We love VG Donuts (and cookies and breads)! Delicious and fun! The kids love to come here. The only downsides are the lack of a public restroom and the parking lot is always busy and a little unsafe. Highly recommend!

I ve lived in Encinitas all my life. The quality of this place has gone down for sure. The price changes were inevitable, but the service had always been good. My last experience has changed my opinion. I felt pressured to choose despite telling staff 3 times that I was looking; no line. When it came to my turn I asked one of the members what the prices were for cookies. The staff mumbled vaguely they realldifferent . I asked again, but she kept repeating the same phrase fully rather than simply giving a simplified range. Clearly this staff member wasn t interested in answering any questions. I give it a 3 in atmosphere because you still can t beat the view of La Jolla

My now husband is local to the area and so when we were looking for dessert options for our wedding, we looked into the donuts at VGs. He reached out to them initially via email and they shared with us their event dessert menu and pricing information, which worked perfectly for our budget. On a trip down there before the wedding, we were able to pick up a to go tasting box which helped confirm the selections we were already thinking about going with. Its very much a working bakery and there was no seating inside, but the other baked breads and such they had available caught my eye and Id be interested in trying those out in the future. I think we had two calls with them between placing our deposit and our wedding, in which we talked about guest count, preferences and dietary restrictions, and how much to order. From what I was able to taste during the reception, everything was good, but the recommended quantity was unfortunately insufficient for our guests, as the dessert bar was gone as quickly as itd opened up :( In hindsight, we should have used their max numbers, but we were really trying to not have a ton of leftovers since it would have been difficult to take them home with us. Other than that, we were really happy with the service and quality and would return.

I first came here a a wee child, and now that I m grown up, it still delights me to eat these yummy, freshly made doughnuts. The service was excellent as our order taker kindly served us and gave us good recommendations. She told us the bakery has been family owned for three generations, and they re still using the original recipes! This is a classic place to visit.

I sampled a few different items. The red velvet cupcake, lemon jelly filled donut, crumble raised, and their version of the cronut were all delicious. Service was super helpful and patient while there was a line out the door. as it was my first time there and had no idea what I wanted! I did choose as quickly as I could!

Its been 10 years since I came here last and I decided to pop in since I was in the area. I was super happy to know that they now have a humble selection of gluten free confections, including cookies. They didnt mention any gf donuts, so I stuck with the gf desserts. I am glad to see one of our towns famous donut places going strong after all these years. The staff is very warm, welcoming, and helpful, which makes this mom-and-pop even more special. I will definitely try to return more often. They also serve coffee.

We got there right before they closed, but the service was still very friendly, efficient, and was patient with the under 10 yo we had with us! Ive been a customer of VGs since 2015. Ive Ordered my wedding cake, baby shower cake and childrens birthday cakes from them since and always have been so happy. We are big fans of their red velvet cake. So easy to work with when placing a cake order and very reasonable prices. There was a miscommunication with my order recently but Megan was wonderful and helped make my sons birthday a day to remember. She was able to make his cake in 45 mins and had Aspen deliver it straight to my door. Their commitment to their customers always takes priority and we will continue to be a loyal customer of VGs! Ive been going here for more than fifty years, literally. One day a few years ago, I met the owner. I asked him why he didnt make a chain, as his donuts are literally the best in the world. Donut Series, Part 13 VG s on Valentine s. It just felt like the right time to give this special place in the heart of many San Diegans a chance to get to know each other better. VG s made our wedding cake and desserts for our wedding at Twin Oaks Garden in San Marcos in July 2023. The cake and desserts were so delicious and beautiful! I highly recommend the white cake with fresh strawberries and Bavarian cream, the mini eclairs, and the chocolate dipped macaroons. So yummy! We also had VG s make us custom sugar cookies as guest favors and they turned out perfect. The tasting/sample cakes we tried were also very generously sized! The ordering and delivery process was super smooth. I m already excited to order our anniversary cake!

Or at least the best for 100 miles in all directions. ;) their donuts are so good that you don t need to bother going anywhere else. I m serious. Huge fans of VG Donut! The whole team is awesome and I can t say enough great things about them. We got our wedding cake here last summer and they were so easy to work with. This place is so yummy! Today there was a long line of 25 people when we arrived(National Donut Day), but it really didn t take long to get through at all. I love the glazed, maple, Apple fritter and blueberry(however, today blueberry was OOS).

We worked with VG to do our wedding dessert bar, and we were so happy with all of the items. Communication in advance of our wedding was great, and the VG team worked with us to figure out the right number of dessert items for our guest count. We loved the ability to just have a one-tier topper style cake for us to cut into and then to have a variety of desserts for our guests (e.g., carrot cake, donut bites, brownie bites, and gluten friendly cookies). Just to note, while VG does deliver to wedding venues, they do not set anything up or offer dessert stand rentals, so plan for those separately. Would highly recommend VG for any event (and also would recommend stopping by their shop in Encinitas for fresh donuts)!

They have good hours but don t make enough to sell much of anything for the last couple of hours of the day. I went in an hour before closing as well as many other people to find that they were sold out of pretty much everything. No donuts, only a tiny selection of other baked goods. The girl who worked there said that that was a normal day for them. Why even stay open later when you can supply your customers?

The cupcakes and donuts were perfect or our wedding. There was excellent communication with Sarah, who helped us pick our choices and she let us know all of our options. I would give these guys 4 stars only when compared to Leucadia Donut (LD) shop. VG donuts are great and they have a large selection of donuts and other pastries. Comparison: -VG donuts are sweeter than LDs. A bit too sweet for my taste -LDs black coffee is much better. So if you prefer your round pastries of love extra sugary, go to VGs. If you like good coffee with a perfectly made donut and a smaller mom and pop atmosphere, go to Leucadia Donuts.

Was in the neighborhood so I popped in for 1 donut to top off my morning. Cashier was very friendly and there was an older gentleman in the back that seemed like a manager or owner that was also very very nice. Its cash only under $10 and I was ready to just get a half dozen just so I wouldnt have to use my cash haha. But since it was my first time they gave me a free pass and let me pay for 1 donut with card. Glazed donut itself was as expected and yummy. Pretty fluffy and tasty for buck fifty so not bad. Unfortunately had a bad experience this time around ordering a custom cake, cake was falling apart and upon pickup they didnt write Happy Birthday it just said Kaleigh and I asked them to fix it but Unfortunately they didnt match with the rest of the writing style. It was very unprofessional who the heck orders a cake with just a name on it.

Their chef makesv excellent Canadian boiled bagels, not pre frozen junk, the doughs are fresh - V good key lime pie, good price but wasnt nutso crazy about the pretty whipped topping, however VG definitely know key limes Their Florentine. dark chocolate thin almond cookies are worth walking seven mile to.burn off the calories, sugar. The yeast rolls,. Raspberry, Apricot are very fresh& flavorful Grab specialty cookies when you see em, because theyll probably be g o n e. Great people and damn good pie and pie choice. I made a deal with a very friendly fella working there and we split two pies in half after foodgotiating to a beautiful win win scenario. And it s always a good sign if the people who work at a place actually buy and eat the food as well. Stop on by and get some pie, don t ask why, don t cry, but instead coke and eat this pie before you die.

Best donuts in San Diego County, if you ask me. They have been a staple in North County for as long as I can remember. We drive 20 minutes to get their donuts because they are far superior to anywhere else. They also have incredible pull apart rolls for holiday family gatherings. Best bakery in the county. Super fresh and incredibly delicious.

If you are looking for that classic greasy donut in San Diego, VG is a great option in the north coastal area. Nice little buzz, small line, and tons of holiday cookies, cakes, and peanut brittle. They only take cash unless you spend $10 plus. No Apple Pay, so make sure you have your physical card. Honestly, worth a shot, but nowhere near the best donuts in San Diego. Its not even close. IG Tip: You are a block from the water, great backdrop for your Reels.

Just like everyone else in the world, I am in love with these donuts. I don t like cakey donuts; I like the lighter flaky glazed donuts and VG s has them perfected. A huge variety and always fresh!! Go early in AM for best selection <3333

These donuts are decent. Id like to try more of their offerings next time Im in town but Im an easy audience when it comes to doughnuts. I wont eat the supermarket variety any more but if they come from a legit specialty shop, I can always find good options. This is true for VG Donuts

We are so glad we went with VG Donuts for our wedding desserts! My now-husband and I really wanted to do a dessert bar along with a smaller traditional sized cake and VG made our dreams come true. They worked with me to figure out how many desserts I should get given our guest list and also helped me stay within our budget. We also got to try the items before ordering which was SUCH a fun experience as well. On the day of the wedding, everything arrived on-time and absolutely beautifully. People raved about everything! I will definitely be recommending VG to everyone I know.

I got $22 worth of baked goods to try. My favorite was the Florentine cookie. My least favorite was the pumpkin roll cake, way too sweet.
