Cute little place tucked away from the main part of Carp. Great croissants! Got a 1/2 loaf of charcoal sourdough loaf that is delicious!! Friendly customers too. Only bummer is no ceramic cups, only paper to go, which seems common in the area. Update: was in the area again 11/23/24 and stopped in for some bread. Did not disappoint!! Delicious sourdough.

Croissants baked to an absolute perfection! Looks like a small shop from the outside but they have a wide collection of food with clean ingredients and other quirky things inside. My impatient self had to try the corner piece before taking a picture ! This was my first time here, but I will definitely be going to back to try other breads!

First, I want to say that the pizza here is outstanding, mainly their delicious sourdough crust! I also have to share that I have ordered a pizza 3 different times and each time they were out of a main ingredient, the first being the crust itself. The second and third time, I arrived to pick up a pre-ordered pizza and was informed that one of the toppings was not available so I would have to choose an alternative. I can understand this happening occasionally, but 3 times in a row? Not only was this disappointing, but no one seemed to care much. They not only charged more for the pizza than their sign stated, (oh, thats an old price), but when I asked to substitute a side of ranch instead of marinara, as I cant eat tomatoes and always order a sauceless pizza, I was charged for that as well. I added a tart that I had previously paid $5 for, and this time it was $7. There are no prices posted for the pastries, so one cant really argue. However, the experiences Ive had so far dont have me wanting to rush back very quickly. The perception I am left with is that this business cares more about not wanting to lose a dollar than they do about customer service, and they seem to make up prices as they go along. God forbid they would have substituted my side of ranch for the marinara sauce, especially after the concessions I made three times on my pizza orders. If the cost of the pizza is different from what is posted on the sign, then update the sign! Have prices listed for your baked goods, so what customers are being charged is consistent from one time to the next, not dependent on who is working. And perhaps increase your order for pizza toppings, now that you have been open for a while and have a better sense of how busy you are. Simple, small adjustments.

I brought a group of clients to Carpinteria today to escape the heat. We stopped in at this shop because I wanted to check it out and I could not be more impressed. The owner gave us an education about making sourdough bread and even let us watch an employee turning the dough by hand. I think we bought a little bit of everything he sold. Loaves of bread - cant even begin to describe how great the bread tastes! I had a caprese sandwich with huge tomatoes, fresh mozzerela, pesto and OMG it was amazing. The bread was thick and chewy and so so satisfying. We had iced coffee and cinnimon pumpkin rolls (seriously right of the oven delicious). The spicy honey to drizzle over flat bread/pizzas and other flavored honeys were fantastic. He sold cheese produced locally. This is MUST GO TO place. Santa Barbara Hives - I will bring people here EVERY TIME. Thank You xoxox Liane

(In Spanish below) Highly recommended!! Ive visited twice. Croissants are fresh, good size, filled with a generous amount of dough (not empty like many bakeries do), crunchy outside, soft inside and delicious. Good customer service and they are open almost all day, which is convenient. The place is easy to find, just check the sign they have at the entrance of the parking lot. The quality of food here is much better than the more visible bakeries in Carpinteria. I will go back to try more products. ***** Highly recommended!! I have gone twice. In short, I love what Barbary has created! My husband & I regularly buy sourdough bread, with confidence that the bread is good for me! We love the Nutella raspberry croissants. Sometimes we sit outside at a little table to eat it. Most extra special was the German Chocolate cake, that Samantha baked for our sons 50th birthdays. Tasty, heavy, with coconut cream, instead of dairy! Even our neighbors & friends raved about it! Here s a longer version: Barnaby s SOURDOUGH BREAD, regular, or with articulated charcoal, is wonderful! Barnaby also explained that the long process makes the glutinous chains long, which s easier to digest, than the quick cooked store bought versions. I appreciate knowing his! CROISSANTS: Barnaby was raised in Paris, so he truly knows how the bread & croissants should taste. What a pleasure! Creativity abounds as well, with croissants filled with Nutella and raspberry! There are also plain & chocolate filled croissants. CAKES: Samantha made the Best Ever German Chocolate cake, substituting coconut cream for dairy. No one knew, yet they raved - our sons, families & a neighbor! PIZZAS: Made with sourdough, with options, including non-dairy, mushrooms, special cheese. COFFEE: Regular & decaf OTHER: There are lots of other things to eat, drink & buy. Kate

Your go-to place for the most organic, tasty sourdough bread and pizza that you can find in the region. This is not your commercial bakery. This is A mans passion to create a process of fermentation and deliciousness that cant be found on a daily basis in most places. This is what the result is of true, hard work and passion for food and this is how every restaurant should be. Once you take a bite of the sourdough bread laced with fresh butter over the top of it or throw a couple of Sunny side eggs inside of fresh croissants baked daily, you will be addicted for life.

Santa Barbara hives is the best restaurant in carp. I was instantly mesmerized as I stepped into SBhives by all the amazing smelling candles and adorable aesthetic little trinkets. I ordered the tri tip sandwich and my friends got the turkey and pesto. The owner who brought the food to us was the nicest friendliest warmest guy ever. When I took my first bite, all the problems in my life went away. It is beautifully made with the most amazing charcoal sourdough and everything was just gorgeous. This is the most underrated restaurant in santa barbara and carpinteria. I could not concentrate on conversation with my friends and I as I was too infatuated with the delicious awesomeness. Every bite made me tingle. Everybody should come here at least once it their life to get a true carpinteria experience. This was so freaking exceptionally magnificent .
