Tommie's Castaic Cafe

We had to stop for the night before we headed on out on a cruise out of long beach. We got up early in the morning and the kids and wife were hungry and Tommy's was a short walk from our hotel. What a find the food was delicious and more then we could eat. The staff was so welcoming and friendly like we were family. The pricing to feed the five of us was beyond fare for such great quality. We stopped and ate breakfast eight days later on our way home from the cruise that's how good this place is.
P.S. Their food was actually better then the food on the cruise.....we will stop and eat here on our next journey south.

Let me just start off by saying when it comes to breakfast I can be pretty picky. The parking is small and that is the only complaint I have. A place this absolutely amazing and friendly should be recognized. Very decently priced for the amount of food you get. The homemade biscuit is truly one of the best I have ever had. We were in town for the weekend to go to six flags and I wish I would of stopped in before the park yesterday. I had the plate that is called “The Mess” mix of sausage hash browns and eggs with gravy on the top. My daughter had the country breakfast with eggs, ham, and their homemade biscuits topped with gravy and a huge portion of hash browns !!!!

👩🏻‍🦳 Finally, I made it before they closed at 2 pm. Got an affordable, good tasting breakfast, the homemade breakfast, Patty was full of flavor & juicy, nothing like store bought😏 and the Waffles were a nice size🧇 and tasty😋 it's not the nicest are because of all the trucks that stop here for some rest,food from the Taco trucks before a long haul to their next destination I suppose🤷🏼‍♀️ but worth the stop for a good affordable breakfast or lunch and tasty too🍴the only thing that I myself don't like is that the restrooms are outside in the back but they are kept up and clean👍

Im a big-time breakfast guy, and this place is a Top 3 breakfast spot of all time for me!!!!!.....We roll out here once or twice a month and have never had a bad experience. The gals that work here are the friendliest you'll ever come across. Cook has been here for over 20 years. They have a small patio if you like to eat outside and about 10-12 tables inside.Parking lot is kinda funky so I just park on the street. Worth the drive.....treat yourself to an INCREDIBLE meal......01-20-24 tried the chili omelet for the first time this morning....... OMG, it's out of this world 👍🏻

A fun little place with 50's music and outdoor seating too.
Food was delicious and I enjoyed the Local Favorite omelet.
My husband ordered the cornedbeef hash, which was also wonderful.
Biscuts and gravy were amazingoy light and fluffy.

Friendly waitress too.

Careful when they say an item will be "extra". We ended up paying for an extra entrée, when requesting if we could get loaded hash browns with an omelet. However, they didn't tell us and didn't provide the extra eggs and toast, which would have been a very clear message.

During a drive to SoCal we happened to stop for a meal in Castaic. We found Tommy's quite by accident. It has a tiny driveway to the parking in the back of the building. You could miss it very easily.

Once seated we noticed that there was only one server and lots of full tables. We were resigned to the fact that things might be slow. The server was polite and apologetic. We ordered and things progressed quickly.

I had ordered a hamburger steak and eggs. Meat was well cooked but just a tad salty. Three over easy eggs and hash browns completed the meal. All in all a very delicious meal.

The wife had a tiny breakfast consisting of one egg, two bacon and English muffin. The egg was just this side of runny but otherwise a good plate of food.

We will return if we are in the area.

Did a take out. The hash browns were not crispy. The corn beef hash was not cooked. The eggs were overcooked and not enough gravy on the biscuits. I will not be back

Man this place is amazing, great food, great people and great prices. Renee was our server and he was very attentive and legitimately wanted to know what we thought and how we liked it. He knew we drove in from out of town so he was really wanting feedback. The restaurant has been his familys for a long time and I think its great. Coffee was good, food was great, and portions were a good size. The biscuits are homemade and are light, not heavy bricks like other places. The gravy is delicious, thats just to name some of it. I cant say enough about it. If you are near or passing through castaic lake area I highly recommend you give it a try. Its right off the 5 so you do not have to out of your way. Make it your rest stop and enjoy the great food.

Burritos are great. I always get the cornea Asada burrito there but I get it from the food truck that s parked in front of there so they re open 24 hours which is a blessing as a trucker you can park right there.

We were two people for an early breakfast (just as the cafe opened). I had a breakfast special, which that day was a chorizo omelet with cheese and avocado. My wife had a vegetable omelet. Both were very good. 0ur server was very responsive but apologized for not responding to questions in Spanish.

I had breakfast here and thought it was fantastic, so I came back the next day for lunch. The take out lunch was not so good. I ordered a patty melt w/fries and a cup of chilli. Maybe I m guilty of not understanding good of another culture but the chilli I received looked, smelled, and tasted like they had just scooped some sludge out of their grease trap and put onions and cheese on top! I m used to chilli being a hearty, spicy stew. Perhaps that s just not the way they serve it here, but regardless, I won t take my chances again. It s too bad, because the waitstaff are great here and the rustic feel of the dining area is nice, and it sure beats anything at the truckstop because it s prepared fresh. I will include a photo of the chilli sludge and let you decide for yourself.

We decided to try Tommies simply because it was local and had reasonably good reviews. When we walked in, I was immediately struck by the wonderful smell of their food. The waitress immediately sat us, got our drink order, and came back to take our food order. She was fast, efficient, pleasant, and an all-around joy. The food was absolutely fantastic and we enjoyed everything that we tried. I had the waffles with sausage, my wife had the pancakes with bacon and my daughter had the kids breakfast meal. All of it was delicious and we all left very satisfied. If youre in the area and debating between this and Dennys, go to Tommys. Its better priced, it has better food and wonderful service.

Came here after a long weekend for some breakfast. We were sat down, our orders taken and then were promptly forgotten about. 2 other sets of diners came in, ordered, got their food and paid before we even got ours. Servers may have been stressed I get that it can be stressful but they didnt bother to check in with us and walked by our table multiple times while serving other guests and putting out their food. By the time I got my Local Favorite omelette the cheese was placed on top, still cold and in slices, they couldnt even have been bothered to put the cheese into the omelette. The hash browns were still wet and not brown at all. The chicken was cooked well but with everything else made the meal very meh. Got a cold English muffin to boot. Server was nice enough to bring out a warm English muffin, but that didnt really do much with the very mediocre food. My wifes meal was meh too, waffles werent fluffy and were quite thin. If the service was good could have possibly let the other issues slide, but come on, seat your patrons and check in on them! If youre dishing out other food of people that have been seated after others, should make you think something is wrong. Really cant recommend this place. Try somewhere else or even hit the food trucks that are outside lining the street. At least youll get your food on time.

The meat and Cheese Omelet was tasty with decent service. The inside area was clean and comfortable. The outside restroom was clean. The drive way is narrow. The walls are covered with vegetation, it could hid an obstruction. If you have even a 1/4 ton pickup or larger, dont go through it. Other cars, ok, but slow! The only issue experienced there is a tiny sign on the counter saying that credit cards would be subjected to a service charge; it was missed-not observed when walking in! After the surprise charge of $.57 was politely brought to the attention of my female server (DANY), AFTER I paid the bill, she was rude. She was given a ten dollar tip for a nineteen dollar meal. The rudeness was totally uncalled for!

My favorite breakfast place. The country gravy is the best around! Parking: Parking on street and in back of restraunt. Narrow entrance into lot. Wheelchair accessibility: Did not see handicap parking. I am disabled and found it easy to visit here.

I only gave this place one star I wish I could have gave a zero I was going to go in and eat but theres a taco truck parked outside its got power cords running into the restaurant or going into the restaurant to get product for the taco truck so Im not sure if this place wants to be a restaurant or if they want to be a taco truck so I just got my vehicle and left that looks pretty tacky people from the taco truck was using the restaurant to sit down and eat

The meal was pretty good, it seems that theyre popular for their steak so thats what I ordered but wasnt too impressed by the quality of meat but thats what you get for the reasonable price I guess. I will say the cook did do a great job preparing it, as it was cooked perfectly!

Breakfast Sandwich in my opinion is excellent along with there fresh homemade salsa!!! Chile Verde is pretty good as well!!! Parking: Parking behind the diner for about 8 to 10 cars or there abouts! Kid-friendliness: They do offer a kid menu! Posted up on a grease/chalk board!

The pastrami sandwich with steak fries was really good. Service was excellent and my cup of ice tea never went dry. Better than that the restaurant was very well taken care of and nice to sit down in. This place is a nice contrast from the roach coaches nearby that I usually get food from. Gotta come back and try their breakfast menu.

While the service was fine, the french dip I got was not the best. The meat was chewy and had an aftertaste like it was maybe freezer burned. Ill try something else next time Im in the area as this could just be one of the things they dont do well.

This was a great find. The food was really good, large portions, and the prices very reasonable. The milk shakes were amazing. This is a simple breakfast and burger joint, but they do it really well. I did breakfast and my wife and kids had burgers. My wife and daughter actually split a burger and both were quite happy. The service was really good, too. The waitress went above and beyond for us. She was great. We will definitely be going back to this little hole in the wall.

The food was excellent. I got the mess breakfast but everything separated and my friend got the chili verde omelette. Everything was so good and I didnt feel tired afterwards like I usually do with Dennys or fast food. Tasted like homemade worth to stop and I will be back.
