My lady and I both ate the Kasoy soup, which was absolutely delicious. It was so rich in flavour and aroma. Also came to our table nice and hot which is a big plus for me. The gentleman who served our table was extremely friendly and gave us a warm welcome. At last I found my place for a good soup. Cant wait to be back for more. I highly recommend this place, should you need a bowl of soup. Will post some pics on my next visit.

I recently dined at this hotpot place and I cannot say enough good things about it. the food was absolutely delicious an fresh, with a wide variety of high-quality meats and vegetables to choose from. The broth was flavorful and perfectly seasoned. The service was exceptional, with friendly and attentive staff( who I think is also the owner) who was very knowledgeable about the menu and offered a great recommendation. the atmosphere was cozy and inviting, making it the perfect spot to enjoy a leisurely meal with friends and family. I highly recommend this place. Ohhh, and their ice-cream was AMAZING!!!

What a gem of a spot! The broth is on point and its incredibly fun to go to the fridge and grab your own ingredients with no hassle. The service is fantastic. I only wish they used less disposable plastics and dishware for the environment. Otherwise the place is fantastic.

This was one great hot pot! Weve tried a couple of others in the past, they were all hype and not very good. The broth here was delicious. We tried the house special, medium spicy vegetable and beef. The house special is just perfect, a little spicy and very flavorful. The medium spicy was about the limit of my spice tolerance and I like spicy, that said I ate a bunch of it. They have just the right amount of options for meat, veggies and assorted dumplings and noodles. The staff was so friendly and attentive. We didnt really even notice the decor because the food was just that good. If you are looking for a solid, go to hot pot this is it!

My daughter has been begging to visit a hot pot restaurant for months. We found this place when we were in Citrus Heights. Its tucked in a small strip mall close to the Stone Casino. The atmosphere is very pleasant and clean. This is a small family-owned restaurant. The owner, who greeted us upon entering and gave exceptional service was great. We ordered the traditional house soup base. My daughter loved the mushrooms, the dumplings, and the short ribs, and hard-boiled eggs that she added to the broth. She was in heaven. The owner and I had a nice chat afterwards about baseball Vegetarian options: Tofu, soy-based products, many veggie options Kid-friendliness: Family friendly atmosphere and high chairs

Vegetarian options: You pick your broth & your ingredients so you can pick only vegetarian items like bok choy, broccoli, onions, green onions, multiple types of mushrooms. Kid-friendliness: Its fun to pour the ingredients into the pot and watch it cook at the table. They also have a delicious fish shaped ice cream collection in chocolate, vanilla or green tea that is yummy and cute.

The atmosphere was much like a sports bar when my husband and I went. A loud game played over the TV. We ordered the 3 divider since we were trying for the first time and wanted to see what we liked best out of their special sauces. I would equate this to more of a pho type hot pot, the seafood items we had tasted very fishy despite them just having opened for the day. All sauces were pre packaged and ripping open several packs took away from the experience for me. Staff was friendly and the restaurant was clean not a bad experience, but not my type of hot pot.

We finally got to try this place out and its was fantastic. We went early on a Saturday night it was only us and another couple. The server (may have been the owner) was so welcoming and cheerful! We chose the Fan Favorite Boat Noodle Broth, which is a solid classic choice, as well as the House Special Tom Yum. That was our favorite! It was a very relaxed, but fun atmosphere and the man who was helping us was very friendly. Overall a good experience and we want to take our friends there to try it out too.

Wanted to like this place more. Soup bases were good but paying for individual plates is ridiculously expensive. I d rather go to an AYCE hot pot place. Also not a fan of the paper plates. It s soup, they get soggy easily.

Published a year ago

Review β„–32

When we first arrived the owner was friendly and continued to be friendly and helpful throughout our visit. The restaurant is clean. The issue is he stated we will be eating out of paper bowls and plastic spoons because people are masking back up. So I guess they don t use bleach to clean and sanitize at this restaurant. The bowl became soft instantly and all of the broths seeped into the bowl making it quite hard to actually taste and enjoy the soups. He kept coming by and turning our hot pot down instead of allowing us to do it like at other hot pots. He eventually turned it down so low or soup became borderline cold. The noodles and vegetables do not come with the meal automatically like at all the other hot pot restaurants. On top of that there is no protein package like at other hot pots so everything is separate on individual plates with Saran Wrap. It s odd he has us all opening the refrigerators during mask season but we can t have real bowls and utensils. Not to mention the food seems quite old and stale like it s been sitting for days. The restaurant was very cold and with the hot pot being low and food cold it was not an enjoyable experience. Our bill was out of line for the extremely mediocre food that we basically wasted because the broth selections were subpar. We were not provided with an itemized receipt neither so we are not quite sure just exactly what we were charged for. The only good thing about this restaurant is that the owner is very friendly.

Published a year ago

Review β„–33

I ve wanted to come to this restaurant for some time, I finally came and I was so disappointed. Usually at hotpot restaurants the vegetables and noodles are included, you would only have to pick a protein package, not here you have to pay for every item individually on each plate. The food is in a refrigerator with plastic wrap over them. The protein in the refrigerator seems a little old as well. your food is served in paper bowls and plastic spoons, with each broth seeping in so you can t really taste the broth and the bowl gets soggy. The broth is subpar and low key nasty. We had the three broth option and he refused to give us three bowls so we wouldn t have to deal with each broth seeping into the bowl so we could actually taste the flavor. All I could really taste was the cardboard bowl. When I received my bill it was not itemized so I m not sure what I was charged. This place will never get my business again.

I absolutely love this place, great prices, great service, and it doesnt make me feel bloated like other foods. Its also great for people with dietary restrictions, Im gluten free and was so glad they had rice noodles. Everything is separate in the fridge so you have nothing to worry about. They also have a nice selection of other things that arent hot pot. The main problem I see most people having is finding the price for the soup base, its very small but it is right under the steamed rice and above boat noodle broth, its $5.50 . I highly recommend it to anyone! Dietary restrictions: Very great for gluten free and vegetarian or vegan diets!

Review β„–62

I honestly really liked the service and the banter with the employee there. Hes very likeable. The food options were pretty good, although preferred the steak slices more than the beef slices, and the broth was delicious. My roommate and I have extremely high spice tolerances, so even the level 10 wasnt exactly the spiciest, but it was a great flavor of spicy. You know how some places its spicy for the sake of spicy? This was spicy but also still very flavorful. They do charge by the plate of different food options though, so this was different from the usual AYCE that were used to. Price to quality ratio isnt the most balanced, but I think if you want to do hot pot on a budget, this place would be perfect. But if you want to indulge and go for a lot of food, then you will need to judge that for yourself.

Staff was friendly and I would have loved to support this business but sadly the amount of waste Hot Pot Express generates means I won t be dining there again. Not to mention the experience of eating hot pot from a paper bowl and plastic spoon isn t fun, I just can t recommend a business where all dishes, cups and utensils are single use disposables. I really hope ownership will consider their impact and adopt real dishes. Until then I won t contribute to the waste. Vegetarian options: They have two veggie broth options

Review β„–73

AVOID this hot pot place. They charge per soup and per item you order. You will get a better deal at an AYCE hot pot place instead. Our total came to $73 for just a few plates of meats and mediocre dumplings/veggies. It was very unappetizing how they served dumplings, veggies, and meat in a standing refrigerator as if it was a convenience store. And odd how they only give you paper bowls and small plastic spoons to eat hot soup. Our bowls were starting to disintegrate and plastic spoons started to melt by the end of our meal. This place is a joke.

While driving around the Sacramento area in the evening looking for a late-night dinner spot, I happened upon Hotpot Express. Hotpot Express provides an innovative take on the traditional hotpot experience in which diners can select their broths (up to 3 different broths can be chosen) and then select their hot pot contents from a self-serve refrigerator. Diners are charged by the plate with each colored plate representing a different price point. They provide a medium-sized selection of noodles, vegetables, meats, fish cakes, and dumplings for patrons to enjoy. The owner was very friendly in explaining the restaurants concept and providing us with recommendations, which we appreciated given it was our first time at this spot. We went with the miso and authentic boat noodle broth. Both broths were very flavorful and Im definitely glad we were able to sample both! From the fridge we went with a selection of noodles (egg and udon noodles), napa cabbage, seafood mushrooms, fish balls, and tofu. The hot pot ingredients tasted fresh and of high-quality. If youre looking for a new hot pot place to try with a unique dining experience to go along with delicious food, then I definitely recommend giving Hot Pot Express a try!

BeBack Rating- yes sir! We were passing by the area and just happened to notice their business sign. We were curious to see how good their hot pot was since weve had it before and loved this style of Pho. The best thing about hot pots is that you can add all kinds of meats, seafood, and vegetables that you prefer to eat with the Pho broth. Well, they did not disappoint. We loved the idea of picking the ingredients in the different colored plates in plain view so you absolutely know what youre adding to the soup. We had the beef flavored broth with....well, see the pics. Yes, I agree that the person who helped us was polite, helpful and attentive. The only negative would be the bowls and plastic soup spoons. I prefer regular utensils and sturdy bowls. Finally, the three color drink was one of the best ones Ive had and Ive taken in a whole bunch of em over the years with its various tapioca and jelly ingredients. Overall, spending the 15 bucks per person average was worth it at this restaurant!

Food was very good and fresh but I find paying $45 for soup a bit pricey. Only had water with dinner also not a beverage usually that runs the bill up too.

Came here for some dinner. I was instantly seated and handed the menu. I looked through the menu and found something I thought I would enjoy. I had it ordered within like 3 mins of entering the door and on my table within 7-8 mins. I ordered the #2 off their menu and it was tasty. I wanted to make it spicy so the server kindly let me know how to do so. This is one of the few places that actually has great chili peppers on the side spice tray. I made it spice per recommendation of the server and it was better than expected. Sure enough, I finished the soup instantly. Very fast, hospitable, and great food! Highly recommend it to anyone and I will be bringing my friends here next time I go.

We really really enjoyed this place. We tried the Chefs Special soup base and the Miso base. Different from each other and equally amazing! Lots of veg, meat, and pasta options to choose from. Also, more affordable than expected! Cant wait to go back!

I love hotpot and love the fact that is self serve. This restaurant concept is made easy for hotpot. Also the staff are friendly and courteous, Wed had the beef med, and house special which was very delicious. We walk up to the frig to pick out what ever you want to cook in the hotpot. We had some baby bokchoy, rice noodle, mussel and shrimp, with slice beef. All was very tasty in the hotpot. So So good. Its a must try.

[This review is based purely off of the hot pot] Man, me and my girlfriend DESPERATELY wanted to love this place. Ever since HL Hot Pot in South Sac closed (for our money, one of the best Hot Pot places in California), weve been searching for a replacement. We saw the amazing reviews for this one, and the next night we found ourselves here. We drove 35 minutes to eat here...it wasnt exactly worth the trip. With a nice atmosphere and nice service, the overall clunkiness of the experience, lack of decent options, and somewhat small portions take away from what couldve been a great visit. But this place has GREAT potential, and we liked a lot from it -- the broths and the whole self-serve aspect especially. This place has serious potential. Atmosphere: 3.8/5 -- Situated in a slightly cramped shopping center, its nestled snugly next to a nail salon with a taco bell right across the way. Not exactly premium digs, but we easily found a parking spot. -- The inside is pretty nice; newly remodeled Im sure. It was shiny, so I like that. It was also clean, which you would think nowadays is a given, but youd be surprised. -- Its pretty small. Like, 6 tables and 1 giant table small. Service: 4/5 -- When we got there, there was only 1 visible employee doing everything. He was really nice and helpful, but you could tell this was a little too much on his plate at times. -- When he did help us, you could tell he genuinely wanted you to have a great experience. Huge (+) plus! Basically, theres three tiers of plates you can choose from: Green $2.95 --- Vegetables, noodles, tofu (and chicken ) Yellow $3.95 --- Meats, fish balls, etc Red $4.95 ------ Seafood, higher quality meats Pretty simple, right? And color coordination makes everything easier too, which was kind of like their version of a self-checkout line. Nice. Food: 3/5 + + The broths we got (house special and spicy beef) were delicious, and pretty intense. The spicy is pretty spicy. Be warned that these two are very similar. Also, both of them were inherently Thai broths. We werent really aware that this was more of a Thai hotpot place, but the menu suggests that. + Shiitake mushrooms were part of the green plates, which is saying something because usually theyre not included in hot pot or very expensive. + Meat was good quality, and the vegetables were serviceable. (-- --) The dipping sauces were....not very good. Two ladies behind us seemed to enjoy, but neither of us did. One was some weird Asian take on thousand islands, and it just seems totally mismatched with hotpot. The other was some overly spicy lime/chile sauce. Thats it. (--) Not a huge selection on veggies at all, I was disappointed. Basic cabbage, bok choy, broccoli, cucumbers...and thats kind of it. Was looking for watercress, spinach, etc. (--) The set up at the table was just...clunky. Something just kind of seemed off. -- Some things that we liked: Rice noodles (gave us so much more than the udon noodles plate), shiitake(!), lobster balls, and enoki. -- The seafood medley (frozen assorted seafood combination) was pretty gross, and it was $5. -- The plates that were available to us looked nothing like the plates from when this plate opened, so we were upset about that. Smaller portions and less options :( Price: 3.5/5 -- The prices are a little steep than the aforementioned HL Hot Pot (R.I.P.), but we got a check of $31 for 2, which we could definitely slim down next time. -- Drinks are pretty expensive, with no refills for drinks. Thai tea for $3.50? Yikes. -- The meats are pretty expensive here for the small portions, which wouldve been okay, but there were little vegetable options. TIPS: -- Tell him the broth (or two for an extra $3) you want right when you sit down. That way you can just get up and choose your food! -- Rice noodle value is better than udon noodle value -- Stay away from the medley, please. This place could be great, but its not yet. I dont think well make the drive up here unless it improves, but I feel like it will in time.

The staff is very attentive and friendly. The soup bases are flavorful. The additional ingredient options are solid, and the price wont break your bank as long as you dont go overboard. The only reason this establishment didnt receive five stars from me is because they have no all you can eat options.

Looove the Spicy Beef base with all of their wonderful veggie and meat options! The staff is always welcoming and very attentive without hovering or being overbearing. Having a very filling date night with enough left for more at home under $30 is ALWAYS a +++. The establishment is always very clean. If you havent tried Hotpot before, this is an excellent place to start.

Big sign for Pho outside, so I went here specifically for that. I need take out since I have a 3mo old. Take out you have 4 options, and there can be no substitutes. I had to wait over 20 min for my pho. Who takes that long to put a pho bowl together? I was told there was 3 noodle orders ahead of mine and thats why it would take so long. Um, what? The pho was okay at best. Portion was small for the price. And I wasnt given option of meat type. There was some thin cut beef, 2 shrimp, and some funny meatballs. There was no cilantro, no basil. Hotpot is their specialty, grab some friends and try that out. Go down the road to Pho Palace if you want some good Phi.
