Veteran diner serving burgers, malts & other American eats amid vinyl booths & other retro touches.
I arrived for Sunday brunch. The place was very busy but we were seated within 20 minutes of our arrival. We ordered their breakfast combos and the food was typical diner fare, satisfying and reasonably priced. The service was very uneven. The food was served fairly quickly but the waitress that waited on us was not friendly, did not check on our table after we received our orders, and did not refill our beverages despite a request to refill. We also waited 10 minutes for our bill to be run. The waitress did not look like she wanted to be there.
I would possibly return if the service/wait staff improved.

I took my small Bible group to breakfast last Saturday at the Village Grill on August 10th, 2024. We sat in the garage seating, which was fine because it has great atmosphere because of the front Chevy cars on the walls and excellent observation to the street.
The server was wonderful, the food was superb, and very reasonable, and though I have been here many times, itβs always a great surprise! The orange juice was especially tasty and I would love to know the brand!
I had a sausage & cheese omelette with wheat toast, and orange juice, while the other five people had waffles, other types of omelettes, pancakes, etc. Everyone loved their breakfast!!
We were seated almost right away, though we had one person who had not arrived.
We love the Village Grill!!
Thank you for keeping it authentic!!

Location: Good, Parking:Street, Service: Decent, Price for food received: Average. Military Discount: No, Overall: First time try and the place is small but did have a decent crowd. Two ladies who were servers were able to handle most of the orders with ease and check and refill coffee without asking. Food came out pretty quick and had a good taste. So yes I would come back again and try more meals. This a breakfast and lunch restaurant and closes by 3pm. As for my review...today 4 Stars...

I came here to try their biscuits and gravy combo ($11.75). It's near the colleges so it can get packed with college students eating together and older people catching up with each other. The decor inside is 1950's themed.
The lady took my order quickly and it came fast since it's a popular order the day I went. The platter comes with two eggs and meat of your choice. I got their bacon but it was not as crispy. The biscuits were fluffly and soft, the gravy was creamy and not heavily seasoned.
The staff was nice and the place is clean. They do have outdoor seating.

This place is awesome. The food was very good, served quickly, and was reasonably priced. We had French Toast which was made with thick hearty bread. The restaurant has a classic diner feel and the servers were very friendly. Ideally, the seating would be spaced out a bit more, but they're making the most of the available space.

The eggs benedict here is as good as the far more expensive places in town. My kids love the burgers and milk shakes. Im partial to the big club sandwich. The atmosphere is a fun, 50βs style diner and, like all great diners, it attracts a lot of locals who chat each other up at the counter seating. They also have booths and plenty of outdoor sidewalk dining. We often see our neighbors walking by. And you can bring your dog to the outside table. Iβm just thrilled that we have a traditional, old school diner with traditional, old school food options. A unique experience in this town full of upscale dining. Iβd be lost without the Grille!

I wanna preface this review with no ill intent purely as a critic based on personal experince. Me and my wife love walking down the claremont downtown area and happen to come across this diner, at the time we were curious and hungry so we decided to try this place out. We were seated about 10 minutes into our wait time and a waitress comes to take our order, about 5 minutes being seated on the right corner of the restaurant next to a window with a few flies bothering us, we had gotten our utencils. Upon examination i noticed my spoon was dirty albeit it was an old spoon so its understandable if it had weird markings or discoloration, however what i saw was some dried out stain which i had then asked our waitress to please change it for us, she proceeded to gaslight me about the utencils being old and that there was nothing wrong with them. This bothered me because i asked for a change in utencils not talk-back, regardless our food had arrived and we ate it up although i cant remember much about it we did not visit again until 2024, we did notice a change in the diners interior which can be appreciated as the old one was dull. We decided to give it a 2nd chance a few times we dined and were not impressed, food was alright my wife was okay with the breakfast she would order while i wasnt impressed with my food, the service varys as some waitresses were awesome but some do not have a sense of hospitality or check back on the customers they seat. Although the restaurant is very small, the wait times arent terrible but the lack of room between seating and lack of customer care (e.g asking for a cup of coffee or anything extra and not receiving anything) food quality being okay, i decided to not come here again but do wish the restaurant success and improvement as it has so much potential to be tapped.

I dined at Village Grill Claremont on 07/31/2023 for breakfast with my server Nikki. I asked for the 7 grain pancakes, and she failed to mention that they didn t have it and gave me different pancakes, which I was suspicious about when eating it, but didn t confirm until I saw the receipt and asked her about it. She insincerely apologized to me without offering me compensation for paying extra for the oatmeal pancakes that I didn t order. I felt she should ve recharged me for the original pancakes which cost less than the oatmeal pancakes.

Been here a few times, food is ok. But the last time we went(a few days ago), the food tasted old, like they premade it to get fast serving times. Because of that, it was also cold. The hashbrown cannot be cooked ahead of time on left on the griddle, they become hard, impossible to chew/eat. The big disappointment was that they use fake butter!! So disgusting! They should definitely, label that on the menus. Nothing ruins toast, pancakes, french toast, etc like fake butter does!!

We had breakfast. Sorry no pictures. The food showed up and we dug in! The food is basic no frills like parsley sprigs or orange slices. I had two eggs sunny side up, hash browns, sausage links ( little spicy) , wheat toast with grape jelly and a side of bacon. My husband had scrambled eggs, bacon, hash browns, and sourdough toast. He also had a Martinelli s apple juice well chilled. We both had large waters. The food came out quicker than we expected. We had taken the last booth. The staff was friendly, attentive and we enjoyed our breakfast. If we are in Claremont to obtain some bake goods (Some Crust) we almost always stop at the Village Grill. They are only open until 3pm Parking: We parked at the Packing House and walked to the diner however there is street parking out front. Kid-friendliness: They have high chairs but the seating can be tight

My breakfast experience was great I had a great waitress in fact I observe her Character as patience and kind to a customer that appear to have mental health issues, the woman was dressed clean and nice. I also observed and overheard another waitress Insisting that she leave, it must stop Assuming that this woman should stop coming into the restaurant. The woman was pleasantly talking to herself but she was not disrupted. I live in this community and see a numerous of homeless people with mental illness it s part of our culture. We must remember that we all must treat people with kindness, dignity and respect. This woman left peacefully paid for her meal she was just a person with a mental illness she wasn t Disturbing anyone the cameras can prove this. Peace!

I loved the service. It was my first time there but I could tell that this restaurant has plenty of regulars and the general vibe was welcoming. The only thing I could think that could be bothersome for some people is that the booths are very tight and compact. If youre bigger, you might be uncomfortable sitting on the booths. They do have a larger patio area outside though. Personally I was very comfortable. Even my 1 year old was tall enough to sit on the booth without a booster seat. Kid-friendliness: The booths are very compact but the plus side is that my toddler could sit next to me without a high chair or booster seat. Food options for kids were reasonably priced and had great variety with healthy options.

I came here once, it was in the end of May 2021. I came then, to grab my breakfast. The meal, that I have ordered, was quite delicious. At the same time, it was not expensive. Another good point, in this establishment, coffee refills are free. Of course, the first cup of coffee was payable. Nevertheless, the price was worth it. The waitress, who attended my table, was friendly and helpful. At the same time, there was ample of space to sit down, especially on the patio. The only drawback, this establishment closes around 3:00 PM. So, people who come after 3:00 PM, are out of luck. Nevertheless, I would recommend to visit this place for a breakfast. The prices are quite worth it, for it!

Only irritating part is I tipped when I ordered! Oh and they heard her direct me to move for them.
