Vegetarian options: Samosa House makes several vegan options that all have a black ladle in the dish, all non vegan items have green ladles. About half their options are vegan, including bread and drinks. The vegan mango lassi is great. Parking: There are a few free parking spaces in the back next to the alley.

During my recent trip to LA, amidst the hustle and bustle of a conference, I found a culinary haven at Samosa House. This place is a gem that serves up some of the most comforting Indian food Ive encountered on this side of the globe. Perhaps it was the pangs of hunger or just the sheer quality of their offerings, but my experience there was nothing short of delightful. From the moment my coworker and I stepped in, drawn by the need for a satisfying yet affordable meal, we were met with warmth and smiles that felt welcoming in the vastness of Los Angeles. Our culinary adventure began with a selection that promised a rich tapestry of flavors the dosa, sambar, two chutneys, and chaat were our picks, aiming to quench our craving for authentic Indian cuisine. The dosa was a revelation. Crisp on the outside, yet tender within, it was a perfect canvas for the lush, spicy sambar and the duo of chutneys that accompanied it. One chutney, a bright coconut concoction, offered a creamy, sweet contrast, while the other, a tangy tomato-based delight, added a kick that invigorated the palate. Each bite was a symphony of flavors, masterfully balanced to highlight the dosas simplicity and the complexity of its accompaniments. The chaat, a street food favorite, was equally impressive. A riot of textures and tastes, it was an explosion of tangy, spicy, and sweet notes that danced together in perfect harmony. Every forkful was a surprise, revealing layers of potatoes, chickpeas, crispy dough, yogurt, and tamarind sauce, all sprinkled with vibrant spices that awakened the senses. While the vada pav didnt quite hit the mark, falling short of the memories of street side Mumbai treats, it was still a decent attempt compared to other iterations Ive tried in the States. This slight misstep was easily forgiven, overshadowed by the overall excellence of the meal. Exploring different locations of Samosa House over three days, I found a comforting consistency in their food that spoke volumes of their commitment to quality and authenticity. Samosa House, with its generous portions, impeccable flavors, and budget-friendly prices, left me more than satisfied it made me a happy baby, content with the discovery of a place that felt like home. The experience was a reminder of the power of good food to connect us to places and memories, making Samosa House a must-visit for anyone seeking the heart and soul of Indian cuisine in Southern California.

Vegetarian focused Indian spot with healthy curries and stews. Came here for dinner with a friend and split a 2 entree combo which came with your choice of bread (we got garlic naan) and soup or yogurt. There s some indoor seating available (no outdoor spots). You pay at the counter after ordering and then seat yourself. Note that there are multiple locations of Samosa House (with two in Culver) - this is the one without an adjoining grocery store. It s a quiet spot and most people opted for takeout. I like the mango lassi here. Overall, a solid option for when you re trying to be meatless and pay a reasonable cost.

After having a great experience in the Santa Monica location, I was bound to go to the original location and was surprised to see even a bigger menu. It place was a grocery store + food outlet. Saw the options for Indian sweets also. Ended up ordering combo with rice and got naan, soya subji, malai kofta, dal makhani , raita in it. Added gulab jamun on the side to complete the meal. Went to Indian sweets section and got tempted to try them and thus ended up getting an assortment of them. Everything tasted good in the combo other than soya subji. From the sweets section , can t complain as everything was good. Definitely has authentic Indian taste to what they serve, would recommend this place .

This is an excellent place for quick Indian food. I give them an extra star for having very cool options such as vegan chicken curry and even a jack fruit dish. The vegan chicken was a little too chewy, but tasted great. The jackfruit was prepared very well and had just the right texture and flavor. The naan is a little too thick for my taste but it was still good. I also tried a vegan mango lassi and I couldnt taste the different, so its a great choice!! I will be back to try more! Update - on another visit unfortunately the food wasnt as great as my first time. The vegan chicken dish was very sweet and tangy, the smoked cauliflower was very smoky (almost overpowering), but the Malai paneer was great and well flavored.

People should go to restaurant who has some ethics and order vegetarian options there instead of coming here for vegetarian food.

Putting it all together, its a bit underwhelming. Service was disinterested and lacking. Inside the tables are oddly placed leading to an uninviting feeling. I bought a non stick pan which on the package stated the coating was chemical free. After opening and rinsing it in warm water I smelled the coating which reeked of toxic chemicals. When I was at the register I asked the cashier if I needed to, do they accept returns, he said to keep my receipt. While checking out I bought two samosas in addition to the pan. I get in my car and realize the cashier deliberately failed to give me my receipt. So a few days ago I call and tell them I want to return the pan. He tells me he will give my phone number and message to the manager when he gets in inn20 minutes. Surprise surprise no call back.

We went to order chaat. Its not easy to ruin chaat, but they added channa masala curry to all the chaat (bhel puri, papdi chaat, dahi puri, pani puri). They offered us samosa for free of cost which too was so bad never ate that bad samosa after living in United States for almost 6 years now. We travelled to LA for the long weekend from San Diego. So I m a teacher who loves to include culture in my classroom. For the past five years, we ve been celebrating Holi! If you don t know what Holi is Holi, also known as the Festival of colors, is a Hindu spring festival. It marks the arrival of spring, the end of winter, the blossoming of love, and for many, it is a festive day to meet others, play and laugh, forget and forgive, and repair broken relationships. It also incorporates lots and lots of colorful powder. I used to purchase Holi powder at a local Indian market, but they closed down. So while on the search for a new market, I came across Samosa House. I called to see if they had any powder available, and they said yes! I made my way over right away before it sold out. When I entered, I asked a lady that works there where I could find Holi powder. She pointed where it was, and I sprinted over. They had lots of bags and lots of different colors. I purchased about almost 30 bags. After I grabbed my bags, I wondered around the market. They not only have Holi powder, but they have other household items, food, and a little restaurant. Too bad I had already eaten, or else I would ve gotten some food. It smelled so good! Until next year!
