BJ's Restaurant & Brewhouse

We came at 10pm on a Sunday night after spending 11 hours at Universal Studios Hollywood. The place was busy and we had a short wait before we were seated. Once we were seated we were taken care of by the "King". He immediately got us our drinks and we ordered some mozzarella sticks as an appetizer. They were served quickly with marinara for dipping. Our late dinner was also served quickly and everybody loved what they got. Make your own pizza with chicken and alfredo sauce, boneless buffalo chicken wings, french dip sandwich with onion rings, chili and chicken tacos. Lots of food and we brought home some wings and pizza. This is a great restaurant with a huge beer selection but we only had soda. Our first time here while on vacation but we have been to another BJ's in Tacoma. Thanks for everything King!

We had a party of 4 on a Friday night and were seated immediately. Service was promt and very friendly. The food and drinks were all delicious. The restaurant is very clean and is not loud. Plenty of free parking is available.

I’ve been to this location several times only on the weekdays in the evenings. I’ve gotten mixed experiences at this location. Service was either good or horrible. It really just depends on how busy they are and who your server is. The food is always great and it’s awesome to go during happy hour which is from 3 to 7.

Ambiance: BJs is consistent across the board, I will give them an A for consistency... happy hour is pretty clutch.

Service: Our waitress was really nice. we got there at the end of happy hour, but she got our orders before it was over. I assume the kitchen was backed up because it took longer than usual to get our food.

Food: The spinach dip was off for some reason. The table agreed it just didn't really taste right, but we couldn't put our finger on it. The pizza was very doughy. It was my first time having the mini pizza, so I'm not sure if that's how they usually taste, but I wasn't a huge fan. The cocktail was made perfectly, though.

The food, nothing compared to the photo on the menu. I ordered the prime rib medium rare with a baked potato & asparagus. The meat had no taste & it was filled with lots of fat pieces as you can see in the picture. The asparagus were very salty.
We were done eating and waiting for the waitress to come back to order the pazookie that was included in my meal and the waitress was no where to be found. We waited for about 10 min. until we just decided to pay the bill on the app/ phone and leave. I was very disappointed.

Food is good, but sometimes it can be a little cold, it depends on how busy they are. Service is good, nice people. Atmosphere can be nosey and hard to hear at times. All in all, it's a great place to go out and eat with family and friends.

I decided to come here for a little late dinner date yesterday, and it was terrible. Second time I experienced this. Although seating didnt take to long, drinks and food took forever,( second time we had to order more drinks when they arrived). I ended up ordering the pizookie meal deal, and after we got the check, we were waiting for them to bring out our pizookie and after the waitress told us we didnt have to leave. We had to mention to her that our food came with pizookie and she said oh yeah huh. And said she inserted the order rushed but we waited for 10 min and we ended up leaving... Not to mention she was quick to snatch up the receipt and the tip.

Server was awesome but definitely stretched a bit thin.. was a good experience.. steak was amazing and cooked perfectly (I like em rare and usually end up with an overcooked steak) but my man was a bit disappointed about the beer glass sizes not going large enough.. there was a bit of a wait but thats expected on a Friday night.. while waiting my boys can get a little rambunctious (9&13) especially when they start hyping each other up lol.. but not a single staff member batted an eye, not even when my 9year old was climbing his dad like a jungle gym.. its a great place with a great menu.. is perfect for a family date night..

I recently stopped by bjs restaurant in the city of downey and let me say the food and experience was amazing. Highly recommend to stop by there and get some 5 star quality food. Vegetarian options: A wide variety of vegetarian options really good. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly.

We were having one of those worst days in your life, where what else could happen..came here to try to make the most of my grandsons bday. Which started with his dad having emergency surgery and his great grandma dieing..my daughter was totally at the end of her rope, then her youngest son got sick with a pounding earache. As we were trying to eat everyone started to cry. Which in turn made me cry..the manager Claudia was a total Saint. And her hosted as well very understanding and made our visit well worth it. I cant say enough about her HOSPITALITY...thank you so much for the excellent service.

The hostess was very rude. When we got there she ignored us. When we wanted to sign in she got molested because we interrupted her conversation with a waiter. They sat us way in the back and when asked to move the lady got annoyed. And told us we had to wait. The restaurant eas basically empty.

Had the best experience. My server was very attentive and friendly. He serviced with professionalism and a smile. I ordered the root beer glazed wings, they were delicious. Also tried the new smore pizookie and it was out of this world amazing. Lastly, cant go wrong with their hand crafted Jeremiah Red Irish ale. I would highly recommend coming to this location. No matter where you are, its worth the drive. Two thumbs up. Parking: Parking is apart of the mall parking so there are plenty of spaces.

The service from the waitress was great, she made an effort to serve. But the dish left a lot to be desired, the shrimp at first came undercooked, the breading was raw, they returned it, they brought the same dish only heated in the oven, the shrimp could not be eaten because they were still in their shells, which made them made it very unpleasant. For the cost, a very unpleasant experience. The waitress made an effort to point out the faults of the dish, explained to us that it was a new dish on the menu, and passed the bad experience on to her manager. They should be more careful in the kitchen since it shows little care.

The worst experience, it was my first time visiting this place, I had the hope of something good since it was my birthday, the service and the vomiting were horrible. To begin with, they told us a 10 minute wait that turned into 30 minutes, they took us to the table and the waiters were a disaster, the two waiters looked new. We placed the order, we gave the instructions: I ordered meat, shrimp with mashed potatoes and fried potatoes, my partner fished, they delayed waiting for the food longer, when it finally arrived, only my food arrived and my companions did not arrive, the order had not even been taken. . The manager had to arrive and offer salad while the food arrived. Terrible moment because for me it is disrespectful to eat and the other person only sees it, it is uncomfortable. The drink asked for juice and they brought soda, they changed it in a bad way and even without a straw, the food was poorly cooked, the mashed potatoes were super salty, the fries were very salty and inedible, the meat was raw. He asked the waiter if they could please cook it well and I could. I ordered it well cooked, I took it to him and then it arrived after 15 minutes with the meat super cold. They had already taken it out for a while and the waiter was never going to bring it. In the end I didnt eat the food. It was a disaster. The service was really terrible. I dont recommend this place.

What a joke. Ordered the fish and chips, after maybe 20 minutes the food comes.. The waitress says we have no tartar sauce, if you really want some they can make it. Well hello its part of the dish! I looked at the fish it was way over cooked and they fries were so cold they tasted stale.. I sent it back, who sells fish and chips without tartar sauce? This place does. About that time another guest in our party started complaining her pasta and chicken were cold. That also got sent back. They comped the meal but, what a nightmare....never again... go to the one in Cerritos it was swarming with cops last night,,,,

We came here to celebrate my daughters graduation, which I understand is a busy time. The food was just ok. Its not awful but not great, either. The service was terrible. The only time we saw anyone was to order or drop off food. We had to flag down our server just to get refills. The saving grace was the pizookie, hence the 2 stars. Here I am having a great meal with my wife. We had some calamari, a few drinks, pizza, then some dessert. Nothing unusual occurred; in fact, date night might be considered a triumph. We were about to order something else, but the check came up first. My wife was furious and begged me to pay so that we could go somewhere else. I paid as usual. As we head to our car, the waitress chases us down, alleging that we have not paid our bill. I showed her my receipt from their app and the transaction on my bank account, but she still refused to believe. I couldnt believe we were being followed down and not allowed to leave...she rushes back inside and walks back outside after a few minutes...and our payment is suddenly paid. I am quite upset with this service because this has never happened before. I routinely pay via their app and have never had a problem. If there was a delay, I would understand, but I did not receive an apology for their evident error. Terrible customer service!

If you want to Pay $10 for a beer. Have a steak that is tasteless with nothing but a quarter of it being fat then go. lesson learned, well never go back there. Went to In-N-Out Burger the next day? What a great decision food was million times better.

The service was pretty bad. Host didnt notice us for a while, then sat us down in the middle table, although the other onces were empty (and stayed like that during our visit). No one came to take our order for 15 min, I needed to ask for that. I ve ordered pasta and pizza, pasta was okay, but pizza was served almost cold. I would not recommend this place.

She mustve been a mind reader honestly cause she gave us a couple tasters for beer for my boyfriend and I as we were debating what they tasted like and I found out i am not a beer drinker. I went on Friday 4/5/24 with a few friends. At the end we wanted to split the bill. My friend paid $40 in cash I was supposed to pay $62.08 on my debt card. Later that night I found that I had been charged $62.08, but then that transaction was reversed and I was refunded $62 and then charged the full amount of $102.08 on to my debt card. The waitress even asked $40 cash the rest on the card? And we said yes that is correct. Then she waited until we left and gave her self a nice $40 tip and then charged me for the full meal. I called and spoke to a manager. She told me to wait a few days for my refund. Which makes no sense since they were able to do this reverse charge that same night F this I already called my bank to have this fixed. Never going back to this shady establishment ever again.

Burgers are usually good but the selection has gotten smaller since a couple years ago. We substituted sweet potato fries (expensive upgrade compared to most places) and they came out cold. We let the waitress know and she sent in for a fresh order that eventually came out and was piping hot. Best service weve had at any BJs until they had a shift change. The disappointing part of the meal was the shrimp tacos. $18 for 2 of the smallest shrimp ever on each taco. Its a definite rip off.

My first time here was a ok expensive . The first bartender was very unwelcoming at the bar setting and a friend & I tried order drinks with out a physical ID we had accidentally forgot our ID S back at home but had a picture on our phones .Since we weren t ordering drinks anymore she gave us off to the next bartender which was CALEB he was very welcoming & friendly ! Did we still try to get any alcoholic drinks no but we didnt bother asking either . With that being said we were very understanding but a few seconds later older ladies come and sat next to us and order alcoholic drinks with out even being asked to show their ID . Yes I even asked for a manager and he wasn t understanding and he laid down the store policy about needing a physical ID . If that s the case it should be applied to everyone no matter how old or young . What s crazy is my friend he could have possibly slid with the first waitress but when I tried order my drink she asked to see both ID S . Not to just sit here & complain after all the shenanigans the 2nd waitress was phenomenal and friendly . For whatever reason he was alone for quite some time but still made his customer service #1. We spent 200+ and tipped out bartender !

Table service awful today 2/14. Not once did waiter come to our table after order was taken. Soda was flat I asked him to please replace that was done fine. But why leave the flat full cup on the table which we placed on the edge of table. Hint hint. Hawk him down for dessert. Big mistake. I thought the store was going to close. We walked in and asked for a booth the lady turned around after and spoke to someone else for a few minutes she told us there were no booths and they took us to table we passed so many empty booth along the way. They sat us a tiny table meant for 1 and had to go get a second chair we asked if we can move to the entire booth next to the tiny table we were at . They said no despite the table clearly not being big enough for two people. We walked out. That was our first and last time going into a BJs worst customer service.

I took my crew out for last nights Thursday special and the tri-tip was so tender, the meat fell off the ribs with the best mashed potatoes we ve ever had! Ending with the pie-zookies that were so delicious we ordered more to go. Our server Nicole was on point! Never had to ask for anything. She was always smiling helping her fellow teammates and the entire restaurant. We are definitely coming back next Thursday and sitting in her section!

The host at the front door is extremely rude and disrespectful I went on Saturday, November 18 at 3:30 PM. We wanted to sit at an open booth ; she decided because of the color of our skin we should wait in the front for 5 minutes. It s was like a punishment because it took her only 2 minutes to say I ll seat you but in a different location that we originally requested, I will never come back because of the way we were greeted before attempting to have dinner.

Stopped by for some food and beers after a bad shift at work. Service was more than good, my bartender Abigail did an awesome job attending to me. Seemed like by beers were never empty. Also had a great conversation with the manager Daniel about the great service I received and the food. Had one issue with my burger but Daniel took care of it as soon as I voiced my opinion. Overall great location to stop at for some great food and an ice cold Blonde.

Bad service, I spent half an hour waiting and they didnt take our order or for drinks, I had to leave the restaurant and the waiters only saw us and didnt ask if they had served us and I was calling and no one came and I would never go again!

This place is really expensive for what it is sure but it s a 4 star on a Thursday. The loaded mashed potatoes were literally the best mashed potatoes I ve ever had. I was in awe when I realized how good they were. I really am surprised how good the food was. They did take a good while to bring us our food but the food was really great. Staff was friendly and the place was clean. Edit: went there again and the Philly sandwich isn t near what a Philly cheesesteak is but is honestly really good.

All three items of my friends meal (appetizer, entree, and dessert) were disappointing. She didnt finish any item. The first appetizer had included undisclosed bacon. As a vegetarian, that was unacceptable. So a different appetizer was substituted. The nachos had no depth. The chipotle salsa that it came with was unappetizingly sweet. She ate four chips and put it to the side. Hoping to salvage the meal, she ordered dessert. They did not have all of the advertised ingredients, but essentially brought out an ice cream topped cookie. Even that was off. She ate maybe half. My meal was adequate, although the baked potato was charred. At the end, I was surprised to learn that we were charged for the appetizer. Then the waiter, who seemed nice enough, had trouble splitting the bill. He cautioned that the card that everything was paid on might have been double charged. The atmosphere is that of a standard American chain bar and grill. It is very dark inside, making it hard to read the menu. There is no outdoor seating, and staff do not mask. I understand that people believe that dangers caused by the pandemic are over, but everyone working in a restaurant should wear a mask for basic hygiene. Not a great experience. It was subpar at best. Vegetarian options: No dish is clearly labeled vegetarian. Dishes that you believe have no meat likely contain bacon.

Dear: Manager and corporation. This Sunday night 09/17/23, my child and I had dinner at BJS Downey CA. im a regular customer and I was very impressed by the outstanding service we received. Our server, Chan Ouk was friendly, attentive, and handled all our requests with utmost professionalism. im very impressive with his customer services skills and his personality, communication, positive attitude, speed and specially his kindness towards my child. I have visit the same locations for more than 10 years and I wish there it was more server like Mr. Chan Thank you for the wonderful experience. We will definitely be back soon. Met a good half of the staff at this point prolly, all very friendly and hard working! It can be very busy at times but thats not their fault. One of the best places to have a drink and share some nachos with the bruv

I like ordering from because my son with Autism doesnt like to eat inside of restaurants so we order to go now the food started out good with just a few hickups here and there and they have fixed issues before but this time im over it i ordered 2 full racks of ribs with loaded mashed potatoes and loaded baked potatoe plus asparagus and a side cesar salad plus pzookies great deal. My husband picked up the order and the ribs were burnt and so much so they tried to hide it by slathering bbq sauce which made it taste more like bbq jerky my mash was watery and cheesy at the same time part of my salad had already gone bad but whatever i guess they think i leave reviews for free food but that is not the case i pay fresh food not burnt food. Sometimes they get it correct sometimes they do not.

Poor service. Waited over 35 minutes for food and then over 20 minutes for check. The server was asked 3 times for something but kept forgetting (they were right next to us). The Root Beer Ribs have been taken off the menu (which is why we went there to begin with). The Strawberry Lemonade had a lot of seeds at the bottom but not Strawberry flavor. My lunch special was supposed to be $13. I was charged $15.75 and had to get fixed.i tried speaking with someone but only received an, Im sorry. The manager was busy and we didn t have time to wait any longer. BJS had greatly improved but no longer..

Tried the BJs pizza special. I think they forgot to add the sauce. Flavorless. I tried fish tacos and couldnt find the fish in the tacos. Ive been sitting here waiting for our waiter. Looks like he will not be back any time soon. Hopefully, someone will notice that we are still here.

Not my usual food review template because i just wanted to quickly shout out CESAR for his awesome service and care! BJ s closed at midnight..at around 11pm, we wanted something sweet, pizookie here we come! It took a few minutes to seat us but once we sat down, Cesar came right over. He was super kind, grabbed our drinks (and my side of lemons ^_^) quickly and our pizookie came shortly after. Will be back when I m in town again. Thank you! Smile, eat, explore hydrate. I dont ever write reviews but i feel like this one is needed. I always order BJs from this restaurant, but this time when i ordered it i was very upset. It was my husbands first and only meal of the day and he got food poisoning from the ribs here. We always eat here, but Im not too sure that we will be eating from here again. Hes still in the progress from recovering after coming back from the ER. BJs needs to be more careful with this...

I ordered the 1/2 rack of ribs, they were very salty. The broccoli was cold, the baked potato was ok. My sister ordered the chicken and it wasnt good either. Really sad because other times we have eaten at the other locations everything is great.

Food was Extremely dry and salty. Service (Ashley) took forever to bring out my meal. Said she would replace the dry and salty side dish, but I was done with my meal before the asparagus was done cooking(smh). Then charged me for a complementary pizooki as a way to make up for the asparagus. I guess since I was done eating and had paid my bill, I would not want to wait for the desert (as this also took nearly 20 min to come out) horrible first time experience

Everything was excellent the truth is, the food and beers were delicious I do recommend it The only thing I have to say is that I felt discriminated against by a lady, just the fact that I dont speak English, I dont blame her. Later another person approached me and he was very kind.
