Mimi's Cafe

Hadn't been at Mimi's for a long time, after a hospital visit we ended up here.
The food was delicious, the service was very nice and the atmosphere actually hadn't changed in all those years.
It looked clean and well kept. The nice part is that they serve cocktails, so you can hang out at the bar, waiting for the food to be served. I was driving, so I opted for a cappuccino, the best I ever had, almost like a soup bowl full, yummy.
We will definitely come back, we rediscovered Mimi's again. By the way the onion soup is delicious 😋

1st time back in years. To our surprise, food was good. Here's critique:

1) Crab Cakes:
3 generous patties on greens. Tasty 👍 ( my personal preference is crab chunks. No big deal.)
2) French Onion Soup:
Passible. However, it arrived w/ tepid soup. The crock itself was hot. Brought it to server attention. I didn't want to send it back. I later found hot soup at crock bottom.
3) Beef Stew:
Very good 😊👍👍. Was allowed to sub pasta for mashed potatoes. However, again, top/one side of food was barely warm. Again, as I ate, found bottom half was still nice & hot. Notified server again. And didn't want to send food back to kitchen.

Thinking food temp was kitchen's fault, gave server $20 tip on $45 bill. On way out, I realized I could've been wrong. Saw server socializing w/bartender at the bar. Could it be while socializing going on, my food was under lights waiting to be served? 🤔🥺😕.

Love coming to Mimi's Cafe for breakfast in the morning with my friends. I enjoy the atmosphere of this place. They have the best Food & Drinks. Loved the Food here and great Mimosas too. Just want to say Luis is an amazing, wonderful Cheff he serve us very kind and love his customer service and Smile too. He made sure if we needed anything else we appreciate it. First time at Mimi's which is a bistro diner playing up French cuisine. First, the menu selection was elaborate with a blend of authentic French offerings and casual American dishes where you can get breakfast all day or go full-on with a diner-style 3 course meal for lunch or dinner.

The prices were very fair and portions were generous. You can find unusual items like crepes, croque monsieur, and the like. Also, the service was good 👍 Shout out to William who was most attentive and charming.

Here's why the 3 stars rather than 5:
Ordered a fresh made croissant and it was blasted in a microwave and naturally arrived rubbery. I really don't like sending back food but this was bad. The server was gracious and kind about it.
I ended up ordering another - no heat offered - to get that real croissant, flaky goodness but no. It was dense and definitely NOT French. I lived in Paris and even if I hadn't, anyone would know this is not authentic.
The other reason is because I ordered the summer fruit salad with shrimp. All supposed to be fresh ingredients but they threw in canned mandarin oranges blended with fresh strawberries and grilled pineapple. Although the vinaigrette was good. (Pictured)

Will visit again but with an understanding that there are pros and cons. If nothing else it's good for a great, hearty French-styled breakfast or lunch. My son loved the berry crepes (pictured).

Old school turkey dinner is hard to find, and I love that meal. My son and I each had the turkey dinner. It's not quite excellent, but still quite good, and the fresh cranberry sauce really picks up the meal. Good friendly service and reasonable prices made for a nice meal.

My girl and I wanted to find a nice brunch joint around our area that wasn t Denny s or IHOP. I ve got to say that this is probably one of the best choices I ve ever made. Allergic to onions and asked if tomato basil soup had them in base, the waitress went back and came out and said absolutely not. Well guess what, she was wrong. Know your menu dont rely on someone else to tell you. Also she kept forgetting items we asked for. Slow sevice.

Have been meeting here monthly for the past 4 months with a group of 5 to 7 friends. I remember years ago when Mimis was a quaint good quality breakfast café. But after my 4 recent visits all at 11:30am, I am ready to go elsewhere. The service has been mediocre, the food, sandwiches, breakfast, muffins, crepes, salads, all nothing special, and ambiance lacking. Last week we were served food without utensils, water for some and not others, food arrived at different times, orders were wrong, and some ordered items were missing, and they were never really busy with several empty tables. As others have experienced, and no matter how good some reviews are, this place has gone downhill and is in need of a serious overhaul and new management. Update. At a subsequent group lunch Jan-16, had 2 older Mexican gentlemen bus and serve our table who were very cordial, attentive, and accommodating. Upgrading review from 2 to 3 stars.

Really disappointed with this place. Did an online order with only 3 items and they forgot the main item. Drove back 20 minutes to grab it. Typically if a restaurant makes a mistake, an offer to take a percentage off the order, refund the item, or even throwing in a little something like a dessert as a gesture is standard .not here though apparently (or maybe just not with the staff that worked on 12/24/23 in the evening). Customer service really needs to be worked on in this place. Will definitely not be coming back.

Christmas breakfast with 7 ladies. William was the best server ever. Very helpful and treated us all like family. We will now be making this our location for our annual Christmas breakfast because of the service we received at this location. Food was delicious. Coffee was amazing. Had Quiche Lorraine, French Pot Roast, and Salmon. We all enjoyed the food. A pet peeve is when I have ice tea and when they fill the glass (finally) only with tea. Its called ice tea for a reason. Could be a 5 star spot but they do not have Breakfast staples like Hash Browns or Biscuits and Gravy.. if you can live without, I would definetly eat here. The service is a definite 5 stats. Thank you for your hard work servers. UPDATE: Do Not Order the Malted Waffles I do not think they are made at this Restaurant. I just ordered them and they were soggy on the bottom and could not even melt the soft whipped butter they brought out. Everything they brought out was luke warm. I took one bite paid for my coffee and left. It is alarming how Sunday Breakfast Gone Wrong can ruin your day.

The atmosphere was, visually, Mimis Cafe on a Sunday morning, but the soundtrack was Cyote Ugly meets Mean Girls. It was a challenge not to get up and dance, even though Im sure grandma would not have approved. No animals were harmed in the creation of this review

Food was really great and had perfect sizes for each plate not so big that one person can t eat it alone but also not small that it doesn t feed a child. People working here were very friendly and happy to help. Fast to serve food, didn t take more than 7-10 minutes to get our whole order. Atmosphere was pretty good nobody was loud and the music was set on a decent volume which wasn t distracting or too loud you can t hear the people around you. Overall I d give this restaurant a go if you haven t tried it yet. 8.5/10

Disappointing. For years I was a fan of this location in Fountain Valley. Great food, great people, great atmosphere, fast forward to July 2023 I ordered the Pot Roast Dinner with Mashed Potatoes and Broccoli and a side of French Onion soup. I was excited, mouth watering racing home to eat my food. But when I opened up the container WOW! was this a disappointment. Half the box was mashed potatoes, 4 pieces of Broccoli, and 6 chunks of beef. The sliced dinner roll was crusty bad, not crusty good. It was hard and squishy at the same time. The soup tasted the same as always but for $37.00 I expected better, way better. Now I understand why Mimis Café isnt as popular as it was several years ago, now I understand why there isnt a line of people waiting outside for a seat inside. The food lost its luster and is now just nah?!? it doesnt even meet the okay threshold but is circling the disappointing category. Youre better off driving down the street to the next signal south and hit up Arbys, at least their food is hot and has a hint of flavor. Sorry Mimis but the French themed restaurant has worn out the welcome mat.

Where I live, we unfortunately got rid of our Mimis Cafe. But, we stumbled across this location while looking for another food place we couldnt find. It was very quiet, so, I thought we wouldve possibly been ignored. But, I was far from wrong. It was a lot of food for a reasonable price. The waiter that was helping us was very kind and gave great service.

The waitress was fast and got the order right the first time. Food was good, and better tags than most sit down cafes.

We have been enjoying Mimis Bistro breakfast & lunch menus at this FV location for many years. Tried the new oneCrab Cake Egg Benedict today and was a big disappoinment. Crab Cake was salty and hardly had any crab meat. Bartender William said it was made from scratch there but honestly it tasted worse than some commercial ones. He offered to switch out the Egg Benedict Florentine but we still got charged for the full price of the Crab Cake Benedict ($19.99) plus he added almost $4 more just for a few sauteed green peppers & onions on top of the roasted potatoes (it was his recommendation for the roasted potatoes that come with the meal) & 4 slices of tomatoes without letting us know there would be an upcharge for the little extras (which we were never been charged for in the past)!. No basket of bread was offered today either! Love how local & loyal customers are treated there!. Parking: Plenty of Parking in the shopping center

The food was great last Saturday, along with great service! Decided to go back this Sat. It was completely the opposite! We didnt like the food. French onion soup was the only thing good today. One Person didnt like the pasta dish, Another Person, didnt like the pressed turkey sandwich or the Other Person the cheese sandwich or fries. Bread wasnt delishous, fries cold & generic. The breakfast last week was the best, two of us enjoyed the waffles, bacon, eggs and potatoes, one person loved, the eggs Benedict. Another liked the Taco breakfast. Prices are higher everywhere that means the food should be delishous everyday. If it isnt, people will want to stay home.

I couldnt say enough about my server Williams the guy was definitely excellent when it comes to service make sure you got what you wanted and all around good vibes and a good sense of humor Thank you Williams youre awesome
