If you need a delicious Mexican food restaurant, this is the one! We have eaten here twice now and both times were delicious with excellent service and a delightful, genuine staff! We will be returning!
All of us have always enjoyed what we have ordered. All the salsas are excellent! The environment is fun, very authentic, updated, and clean. From the time you enter the restaurant you are welcomed and treated as family.

Update: came for $15 all you can eat taco Tuesday. We are rolling outta here. 4 tacos, beans & rice on the first plate. You can choose from asada, carnitas, chicken and pastor. Great salsa bar too!
After your first plate, it’s strictly tacos. They were really good. I recommend the asada and pastor with the creamy green salsa.
Great cocktail menu too!
Original post:
Wanted to try Estrada’s after they settled in so my friend and I came in on a Monday night at 6:30 for dinner.
Lots of open tables and we were greeted by a friendly server that showed us to our booth.
Happy to see they had beer, wine & margaritas! Happy hour is from 3-6pm so we will need to come back and try that out.
We each ordered a Pacifico draft and a plate of taquitos. The plate comes with 4 total with beans and rice. We were able to do 2 beef & 2 chicken. They were pretty tasty. Beans and rice were good too. Beer needed to be much colder. The feisty glasses were cold but the beer was not.
We will come back again as the food was decent and the service was awesome. For those that live locally, check your mailbox for coupons! They took $10 off our bill for the coupon!
I also came here for breakfast with my son! We both had the chorizo & egg plate. $9.99 a plate! Not a bad price. It was super yummy and the red salsa was amazing!

Is it unreasonable for me to expect that Estrada's accurately reflect it's hours on the door and online? It's near comical to me that I want so badly to raise my review of this place. Yet each visit, I am just left wondering who's managing this place?
Went for breakfast burrito. They were closed claiming to be open at 7 (~7:50am). Someone was in kitchen so probably open at 8. Although only 1 person I could see for a big restaurant (expect more preparing to open the place).
Decided they want me to know my business is not important to them. So instead of waiting 5 minutes to find out if they open (not confident) I went to Golden West Diner instead.

This restaurant is struggling as it opens. It feels like they lack strong leadership. Each time I have gone I watched people walk out. Or sit for 20 minutes before getting service. Food wasn't bad, staff was friendly, but it's an experience that leaves you saying"nah, let's go somewhere else this time".
Note: No alcohol license with ETA of December 12, 2022.
This restaurant has the potential to be popular. There aren't a lot of sit down places in the area.
Food was what I expected for the place replacing Cocos. The first time it was a large menu. Mexican was good, but I thought the rice was lacking. Second time they had a brunch only menu; this isn't the place for that. Stick to consistentcy. It was also awkward to ask "when is the regular menu". I got some weird "we are out of a lot of stuff" answer. I watched another table struggle asking the same question.
Staff was nice. It just wasn't coordinated well. You'd look up wondering where folks were and it took a while to get back.
I look forward to seeing them find their footing, returning, and upgrading the review. Come on Estrada's... The neighborhood was looking forward to you... Let's turn this around!

Second time here and we love it! It starts as we enter the restaurant and hear the music streaming. Yes, the music! When the music is especially selected to set the mood of your visit, it deserves praise! Eydie Gorme streamed during our first visit and then Mariachi Varas de Tecalitlan streamed today.
Some of our feast included:
Chicken Mole enchilada - the sauce itself is super labor-intensive. A dish I would always try when I see it on the menu. Packed with authentic flavors of a perfect mile sauce.
Chorizo skillet hit the spot for husband. Served with potatoes and tortillas(or toast) and 2 eggs your way.
Belgian waffles with berries came with eggs, sausage (or bacon), and hash brown. This is one of my favorite breakfast plate. A balance of sausage and healthy berries is a plus!
Coffee is good too, strong enough but doesn't give me the jitters!
Service was super nice and friendly.
Definitely adding this restaurant in our rotation.

My fiance, daughter & I decided to try this place out for the first time. The restaurant is beautiful. The Mexican artesanias are lovely & really colorful. The music playing in the background was wonderful. A mix of old boleros & religious songs. A great place to go with loved ones. We ordered coffee, which was nice & strong. The horchata ,however, was not authentic. It was the powder flavored mix, it was sweet. We ordered three of the breakfast specials. My daughter ordered the chorizo con huevo plate with rice, refried beans & corn tortillas (but they brought her flour). My fiancé ordered the Papas con chorizo plate with rice, refried beans & flour tortillas. And I ordered the French toast special with fresh berries but only got blueberries (I guess there were no strawberries), bacon & eggs (over medium). The food was delicious. Over all we really enjoyed our meal & the price was well worth it. Can't wait to come again.

Estrada's was good. The location used to be a Coco's back in the day and it still has that Cafe style to it now. The good was good. I had a chicken taco and chile relleno. Both were tasty. I liked their salsa, not too spicy but great flavor. I would like to go back and try some other items on the menu.

Overpriced for mediocre Mexican food. They advertise $6 breakfast burritos and in the fine print, excludes weekends, which is when people want a breakfast burrito! Otherwise it's $13 for a tiny burrito, half filled with barely anything.
The original Estrada's location is somehow still better than this sit down restaurant.

I would highly suggest have something in mind you want to order. If not have fun figuring out what to order. Huge menu with so many choices, Mexican, traditional breakfasts, well not too much. 4 bacon, 4 sausages, polish and ham combo plates for one. Burgers, sandwiches too. Kids menu included.
Nice atmosphere. Big place plenty of parking and seating. A must to return.

Wheelchair accessibility: Close Handicap parking. No problem parking anywhere and using wheelchair. Plenty of room inside restaurant for chair. Plenty of seating options to sit in wheelchair or transfer to a chair.

I came specifically for menudo advertised fresh on weekends and I was not impressed. Bowl had 4 or 5 pieces of the meat the rest was just hominy. Also it tasted overcooked like it been sitting for a long time. I recommend other places for fresh menudo. The other dish was much better.

My husband had eaten here a few months ago & enjoyed it, so he wanted to try them again. Visited on a Sunday at noon. Not too many customers. The place was less than 1/3 full. Terrible service! Seated right away & chips were delivered. Then nothing. About 5 minutes in, I heard the waitress mumble, Ill be right with you folks as she walked past (not entirely sure who she was mumbling to), but that was it. No drink order, no visit to our table, nothing. We waited 15 minutes for a waiter, then I finally got up to ask if anybody had been assigned to our table. She showed up & took drink orders while I was away from the table & informed me of such when we passed each other, but never indicated in any way via apology or excuse, that this wait was not the norm. The next time she showed up to drop off the incorrect drink orders (water with no ice, but all delivered with ice), I requested decaf coffee, which was burnt & tasted terrible. Our waitress was unfriendly, brusk & a very poor server. She dropped of my coffee as she was walking past, just sticking it on the edge of the table as she walked past. All meals were served by handing the plates to the person who ordered them, even across the table & in front of/across other people, necessitating the recipient to reach across to receive the plate. Most of us thought our meals were OK/good, but I ordered bacon, soft & my daughter ordered bacon, crispy. Both were cooked medium. My son ordered an omelet with vegetables (onions, bell peppers, mushrooms, etc). The vegetables were not cooked, which meant that the water vegetables release while the omelet was cooked released inside his omelet, making it soggy & watery. Thats bad enough, but they also put lettuce in it, which was not listed as an ingredient & added to the soggyness. Worst of all, the inside of his omelet was RAW. The front 1/2 was soggy & from the middle to the back was actually raw. You could see raw egg leaking out & it had an actual puddle of raw egg that had seeped out. My son didnt want to be a bother & was going to eat it anyway, even though he didnt like it, but once he got to the raw half - no way. I requested a new one from a server walking by & the server looked at & said that he could see that it was raw. I sent it back & who I assume was the manager, came by to apologize after a new one was brought to the table. Our waitress did stop by several times during our visit for a very brief second as she walked past to ask if we were OK. While we waited for our food to be delivered, someone from the table across from us actually got up to ask how much longer it was going to be for their food because they had been waiting a long time. When their food was delivered a few moments later, the same waitress served their food the same way she served ours, by handing it to the recipient across other diners. This group was in a booth which makes serving a little more difficult, but still you dont serve someones food right across someone elses face. Despite my complaints, we are not a demanding group. We were with our 3 grown children who were raised to respect others & treat wait staff with the same manners. We are polite, have manners, usually dont require much. We are not loud, we dont make a mess & we usually tip well. We we visit a restaurant a 2nd or later time we are remembered & the wait staff is glad to have us as their customer again. We will not be returning to this restaurant & I do not recommend it to anybody else, which is unfortunate, as its a new restaurant in the area & had the opportunity to do it right, but.... I dont see them lasting past their lease if this is the was they operate.

First time there, got a chili Verde plate. Absolutely the worst green chili Ive ever tasted! The chili was so sour it was inedible. The few tiny cubes of pork were old and dry. Barely enough beans to fill a tablespoon. Much more of the rice though that is a lot cheaper than beans. YUCK!

Had to give this place a try and support the community. Iordered the chile verde and eggs, my daughter had the breakfast skillet and oatmeal for my granddaughter. The waitress was just straightening out the server area and took quite some time to take our order. My food was microwaved, the rice and beans were dry and crusty. The skillet was decent but everything was so ridiculously overpriced, especially for the quantity AND quality. Its apparent the owner isnt responding to these chief complaints as nothing is changing. Its also sad to see the standard two replies from the owner. I dont feel a need to support a business that doesnt care about the community it serves.

Hold on, because this is going to be a long one, Estradas cafe has been my family and I s go to restaurant. There are many varieties on the menu and the service is very good! I saw a review that was complaining the food was over $40 but I m sorry, have you eaten ANYWHERE lately, a greasy little breakfast meal for the family at Denny s cost 70 bucks so I wouldn t be complaining about a delicious and well-made Mexican food meal. If you don t like the prices maybe you shouldn t have voted for your beloved Biden. I also saw a review that was a one star because the salsa was too spicy, my family and I are Mexican and we all love the salsa, it s not the company s fault that a bunch of white people come here to claim they love eating Mexican food but in reality they can t even handle a little flavor or spice. It s like fancy white people who claim, omg I just LOVE Chinese food!! Then they go to eat at Panda Express stop complaining the salsa is too spicy for your white tastebuds, us real Mexicans know what flavor and spice is. One review was from a man who said him and his spouse were seated next to another couple and they were bothered that they had to hear the couples conversations, well sorry dude if THATS your biggest problem, it s your own fault you didn t stand up and walk your own butt to the front counter and ask for a new table. OR I don t know..maybe just stay home and cook yourself a meal so you can eat in peace. I saw ANOTHER review stating they ARE Mexican and were disappointed half the menu was American food . HMMMM I WONDER WHY?? Maybe because they are located in the middle of a neighborhood with a bunch of bougie WHITE AMERICANS living in it! The establishment is family owned and it s very cozy inside, sometimes they have a live Mariachi band for entertainment! Everyone is so nice and the owner Jose always waves hi and welcomes us in even if he s cooking in the kitchen. Running a business is hard and I understand that, so it hurts me to see people leaving such crude reviews instead of encouraging the business to keep upgrading and to keep up the hard work! If you were offended about anything I said in this review, you further prove my point no one likes a diva.

We ordered the breakfast sandwich and the marchada breakfast plate. Both did the job of filling us up but neither were worth the price. The meal came with chips and salsa, which were easy to pass on, the chips were bland and the salsa was very spicy.

I was finally able to try this new restaurant. Waiters/waitresses were nice but they took more than 10 min to take our order. Food arrived 40 minutes later and it didnt seem too tasty. They forgot my kids fruit side and forgot to put silverware on the table as well. Fruit was few grapes and melon. Kids meal seemed pricey. We also asked for some salsa since our burritos were too dry. Salsa took more than 5 min to get to us. We actually had to ask for salsa to another server since the one we had was no where around. I didnt understand why the service and food took long. The restaurant was not busy, there were 3 busy tables besides us. We will be back in couple months, hopefully we get a better experience by then.

Okay this was my 3rd time trying Estradas grill. 3rd time was not the charm! 1st time ordered online and our order was cancelled by the restaurant without notice to us. this was when they first opened so maybe the online ordering wasnt working right 2nd time in addition to my order i ordered an iced vanilla latte which to them is coffee and creamers not place place for coffee my bad 3rd time again online order. I arrived 30 mins after order was place (time giving by the website) to the wait staff greeting me right away (best part) I told them I was there to pick up an order place online. they asked me what I ordered I told them and that was when the order was placed.( FYI if someone ordered online for pick up it should be ready at the giving time.) So I guess they still have issues with the online ordering. I got my burrito went home and just disappointed, a breakfast burrito with sausage, bacon, ham , egg, cheese and i think it was hashbrowns you would think would be very flavorful and yet I didnt really taste anything till the end of the burrito. I want to like this place in fact their other location was excellent but the new location leaves a bit to be desired. the staff was friendly and attentive but their overall service is lacking

So my girl and I were famished and weve drove past this place one too many times. We love Mexican food. Sadly we had an experience like many others. There was only one other table with 3 adults and a child. Food took so long to get to the table we didnt care that we could have gotten better at Del Taco. My Carne Asada burrito seemed double cooked and was barely warm, her bean and cheese was so cold the cheese was hard. When we got back to the car she looked at me and asked Am I bulimic if I just want to throw up what I just ate and hit a taco stand?.

My wife and I have waited for this place to get through all of its growing pains. We finally decided to give it a shot. All of the reviews weve heard from neighbors hold true. Its just way too overpriced for the subpar taste and quality. A lot of the sauces seem to be extra spicy to mask the mundane flavor. The meat portions in the enchiladas are small, and the shredded beef is tough. And the margaritas taste like yellow Gatorade. On the plus side, the staff is VERY friendly. Theyre obviously working extra hard to make this place work. Hopefully theyre able to turn things around!!!

Waiter sat us right next to the only other couple in to entire restaurant, so we could hear their conversation and them ours, which is distracting when you want to talk with your spouse. We only ordered water to drink because happy hour wine margaritas were still $10. The waiter didnt bring us any water but we watched him stand there talking to another employee. Then while we were waiting, ants were crawling on our table. We ended up leaving after we saw how expensive the food and drinks were. I have been a patron of the restaurant on Chapman for years and we couldnt wait for them to open this restaurant, this was our second attempt coming here, but it really misses the mark.

Not sure about the 5-star reviews. Maybe a hit-or-miss location. We had a horrible experience, service was terrible, food was mediocre at best, and tasted like everything came from a can. For what they charge there are many other locations that are great. I was hoping this was going to work out. They say their not sure what happened. It took you 2 months to reply to a review that should tell you what happened, poor leadership and training.

Lots of options on the menu and everything Ive tried has been pretty good. They never seem to have enough wait staff, but the servers are super friendly. We usually get seated right away, but then are often waiting for service.

This is a newly opened Mexican restaurant with a very nice environment. If you like Mexican food, it is a good choice for family gatherings. They have a bar. Parking: The restaurant has its own parking space.

Very expensive for the quality of food. Steak fajita meat was chewy and flavorless. Carne asada burrito meat was chewy as well. The cheese in the cheese enchiladas tasted like the cheese was bad. The chips and salsa were very good.

Went there for lunch with my son. He had the breakfast burrito. I had the Machaca burrito. I asked beans on the outside. I was impressed with the burritos they actually grill the tortilla after it s folded. Nice affect was not greasy and was not salty. Like other places, nice portion for the price

Dont go there! Very poor service & very over priced. Wasnt crowded I can see why. Sent soup back because cold also rice was cold. 2 servers asked would you like more tea & never brought tea or water or to go box. We asked several times for to go box & bag several times. We could see other tables having problems with their check & service. I wanted a steak not tacos but steak on menu was 10 onces & almost $30. I ended up with a taco. Our bill was over $40. Was our anniversary & very disappointed in this restaurant & will never go there again.

The Estradas breakfast burritos are so good. And the salsa that it comes with makes breakfast a delicious meal to start your day out.

Its pretty cheap, but its plentiful and delicious. Tacos are cheap on Tuesdays

Steak Omelette was amazing, the fruit preserve for the toast over the top. A usual breakfast place has lame smuckers fruit jelly in plastic/tin foil packages. Supposedly the dude that owns this place came from higher end restaurant background.

Loved this new restaurant Estradas Cafe. First off the chips were very good. There was a special something added because they were very good with a Lil bit of different taste which I found unique. We shared Chicken taquitos, beans, rice and chicken tamales with red sauce. The food was delicious. Beans & rice reminded me of my grandmas cooking rip. We were so full but still had room for a dish of flan that just melted in your mouth. Jose our waiter was very friendly, refilled my hot water and brought me a side of sour cream. Estradas Cafe is a new restaurant that Ill definitely be going back to to try out other dishes. Parking: Handicapped parking available

Seems like wed waited for so long for this restaurant to open. Heard it was pretty yummy and it did not disappoint! The food is so authentic! I started with the menudo and was pretty pleasantly surprised. See, while some restaurants offer it, its not usually this good. Mom taught me to boil your tripe all day. Boil, rinse, boil, rinse. At least 4 times. The tripe was tender and tasted clean. Very minimal fat, too! Then I had the Sonora (?) Wet burrito with Carne asada and double beans (no rice). Hub had chilequiles and we shared chips and salsa. The salsa is very mild but its roasted and crazy good! The chips didnt have regular salt, was some kinda seasoned salt. The green tomatillo sauce ( on my burrito and his chilequilles) was a bit spicy, but we could handle it. Just a warning for those who cant. Everything was amazing. Usually when we try out new restaurants they fail at least in one way. Either stale chips, or bad salsa. But this place hit every mark. Even the bathrooms were very clean and not unpleasant to use. Heads up to the restaurant tho, prolly schedule a deep cleaning of walls, ceiling and especially ceiling fan. Also please replace the fan when it stops working... and they do stop working! All in all it was a great experience. Well def be back! Parking: The whole lot is available with about 3 handicap spots

Was seated right away, our server was Andrew, polite, friendly & very attentive. Food was hot, good & plated well, red & green salsas had good flavor & very spicy & Pico de Gallo tasted very fresh & was good as well. Ordered Machaca con Huevos (Shredded Beef with Eggs) delicious, very flavorful & every bite was juicy. BF ordered a skillet meal, potatoes, chorizo, Bell Peppers, onion & scrambled eggs on a nice sizzling skillet he said was delicious. Will be back again & thank you to servers & cooks.

Still working out the just-opened kinks, but they have the best Chile Verde this side of New Mexico. And the salsa was better than most other places as well.

First of all, the staff is very friendly, but I am wondering if the owners are having an identity crisis. Beautiful decorations of Mexico, yet half of the menu is American food. I love American food, but I came for Mexican food, and the Mexican food I had just wasnt that good. Maybe if they focused on it, instead of splitting the menu, they could improve it. We had a chicken burrito (no carnitas on the menu!), and breakfast enchiladas. The burrito was bland with tiny cubes of chicken (shipped that way?), not grilled or shredded. The chips and salsa combination had a funny aftertaste...cant place it. The enchiladas were just chicken and tortilla covered in cheese, but again not much flavor. The potatoes were warm but very undercooked. We spent just under $40 before tip, but left unsatisfied for the price. If I try Estradas again, i will be for the American food, but not sure if I will bother unfortunately.

My husband and I had a pleasant Sunday lunch. I ordered the fajita plate with fresh spicy salsa and my husband had the fish tacos with cabbage and a white sauce, both Delicious. The portions were big, the chips and salsa crispy fresh, and the lemonade with a twist of lavender added a classy touch. The service was enjoyable and the owner Jose made sure we had a great first visit. We will definitely be back. Good food, good service, and I got my moneys worth! Parking: Ample parking, well illuminated, clean.

Service was very slow but friendly. It seemed as though they might have been short handed in the kitchen. Food was lukewarm. I had the 3 street taco trio platter. It wasnt bad. My husband had the pattymelt and felt the meat was over cooked and lacking in taste and not hot. Busboy was very good. I know they havent been open long so Im hopeful they will work out all of the kinks. Saw lots of families there eating. Chips and salsa were really good.

It is very disappointing to order off the menu and find the kitchen has made substitutions without letting the customer know. Were you just hoping I wouldnt notice? When I ask the server about it, he just casually said we ran out of that so we used this instead . I also let him know that he needs to keep the customer informed when the food that was ordered is not what you are getting... Good luck Estradas Cafe, you can and must do better.

Cant say this is a fully accurate review since the service hindered the full experience. To the point, we ordered a dinner salad and tacos. The tacos, chicken and Carne asada, and the salad with steak. The first obvious issue was that the salad did not have dressing and was not served with any. (Eventually, I went looking for some and a nice server did find some.) The tacos had cheese, asked for without, and came out one Carne asada and one shredded beef. (Not sure where the chicken went, hopefully to a good home.) Surprisingly, the shredded beef was the best part. The other was lacking salt/seasoning. The steak on the salad followed the other steak, lacking in flavor. Some of this could have been easily remedied if our server checked our order before serving or came to our table any time after dropping the food off to check on us. That one fountain drink didnt quite quench my thirst. The last thing that completed our visit was the 3.5% surcharge if using a card. Luckily, I paid cash, but not being informed of this before we ordered was not acceptable. I am not sure I will try again even though the menu did have some things I would like to sample.

Food was good three out of five. Service was pleasant. Atmosphere is a middle of the road cafe/restaurant atmosphere The prices are very expensive. Compared with the other Mexican restaurants in the area, this falls in the middle. For the prices, I would go to a higher end restaurant in the area.

There always closed. Havent even been able try it. The hours on the door says its open from 7am to 9pm. Yes we show up between those times. Not a good way to start. Might be nice and say why theyre closed in the middle of the day so much. Put a sign on the door and explain why theyre not open during regular business hours.

Estradas Cafe is where the former Cocos restaurant used to be located, off Valleyview Street and Cerulean in West Garden Grove. The interior design is a blend of a mexican and modern cafe. With them being open for less than a week there are a few things that can be improved on slightly: service and payment methods. With time we see this restaurant being a regular spot for the residents of West Garden Grove and Cypress.

Apparently, they don t know anything about online reservation on Google. I received reservation confirmation but the restaurant said we don t have such system . The worst part was the manager has a bad attitude. The first time they said no more walk in customer . Then this time we don t have online reservation system . Should I try a third time? Most likely not.

For years Ive eaten at Estradas Grill on Chapman and Knott Ave! The new location is in the old Cocos on Valley View and Cerulean across from .99 Cent Only store by the 405!! The offering was great and included breakfast lunch and dinner all day!! The food is always fresh and great!! Support this family business!!

The food was very disappointing. Beans had a burnt flavor. Rice very weird taste I couldnt even say what the flavor was and the vegetables in the rice were old with a freezer burn taste. The mole sauce has a sweet bbq taste to it. The carne asada taco was pork meat not carne asada and they dont even have pork tacos
