We went to Bonaparte Bistro this weekend the food was spectacular we had the hummus plate brussel sprouts and the ratatouille and we were not disappointed! We definitely will be back and enjoyed every last morsel.

If you're looking for fabulous and upscale food, this is the place! Everything we ordered was excellent-perfectly prepared and beautifully presented. And the service was stellar. We were so anxious to eat I forgot to take pictures of everything! Will definitely be back!

Another fantastic Mother’s Day! Pretty sure the last time I reviewed this place it had a different name and owners and was my favorite beach restaurant. I guess the reviews stayed with the change of owners and name. But … STILL my favorite beach restaurant! They kept my favorite menu items and added more for me to try in the future! Mushroom (fungi) pizza, truffle fries with aoili, almond trout, and sangria are all excellent! The burger is really good too! The server was new and a bit frazzled but one of the more seasoned servers made up for her oversights. I have never been disappointed here!

My favorite restaurant in Hermosa Beach, and frankly, pretty much anywhere. Every time we go we order the same things: truffle fries, pizza with truffle oil, mushrooms and mozzarella, and the cheeseburger. They are soooo delicious we haven’t managed to venture out to try other items! We did finally try the sole dessert: date cake. It doesn’t sound appetizing. But I decided to take the chance on Mother’s Day and was rewarded with the most delicious, not too sweet caramel-like cake! My lord it was good!

The staff is always friendly, the atmosphere casual and unrushed. Quite the opposite, we often have to ask for the check. They don’t have much of a drink menu. Beer, soda, a small selection of wines. But I stick to the fresh brewed sangria. It is refreshing.

A small nice French restaurant at Hermosa beach. We came here for vacation. We have a baby/toddler, so we decided to find a restaurant not too crowded or noisy. The manager Gary was very kind and friendly. The food was good, the service was excellent and the ambience was calm and relaxing with beautiful French classic music, we had a very good time. Note... the name is changing to Bonaparte Bistro tomorrow. Don't let the small cafe fool you... the food and service is off the charts amazing! Our server Melanie was wonderful. She was on top of everything and oh so nice!

It was just two of us so we split dishes. Starting with the pita and hummus plate. Lawd...I could have eaten this by myself. The pita puffs up and is just right crisp. The hummus is one of the best I've ever eaten. Then we split the beet salad...my friend had the grilled chicken which was excellent and I got a side of grilled salmon and woah... the glaze is nutsy good, it's cooked perfectly with just the right amount of char. Two dishes I will dream about!

This new (opened about September 2023) sit down cafe is very interesting. They have some great pastries and desserts in their case. Their menu has some interesting choices. For this our first trip, we ordered pastrami sandwich, portobello mushroom sandwich, avocado toast, and a salmon platter. The salmon platter did not have a description in the menu. It turned out to be a toasted bagel with lox, and a salad. Accoutrements included capers, cream cheese, and chopped red onion. Their bagel was thin. The salmom lox was passable. It didn't taste artisanal or house made, but neither did it taste like it came from a small package. We also had a couple of their delicious desserts- key lime cheesecake and creme brulee.

Notably- they did not have decaf drip coffee. We ended up ordering an Americano and subsequently asking for milk on the side. The waitress, who was personalable, did not seem like she drank coffee and so wasn't very helpful after telling us that there was no decaf drip coffee.
Bottom line, their bread and desserts were delicious. We'd try it again.
Update: we visited again. Had the croque madam and the portobello mushroom panini on whole wheat bread with soup of the day (lentils) . The lentils were good, but didn't taste in house made. We preferred the panini bread from the first trip over whole wheat.
We also ordered their pain chocolate and strawberry croissant.
Still a recommend.

Nice little restaurant focused on clean, healthy food. My Prosciutto pizza with spinach was delicious! The pita and humus appetizer was unbelievably delicious, and my wife LOVED her salmon entree. The service was excellent! We’ll be back!

I recently tried the pizza at Bonaparte Bistro, and I have to say it was one of the best Ive had in a while! From the first bite, it was clear that they use top-quality ingredients and a lot of care in crafting their pizzas. The crust was perfectly crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, with just the right thickness not too thin, not too doughy. The sauce was rich and flavorful, with a hint of herbs that didn t overpower the fresh tomato taste. They clearly know how to balance the sauce-to-cheese ratio, because every bite had the perfect amount of both. As for the toppings, they were fresh, generous, and well distributed. The service was fantastic too our pizza arrived hot and right on time, and the staff was friendly and attentive. It s rare to find a place that nails every aspect, but really impressed me. I would definitely recommend it to anyone who s looking for a satisfying and delicious pizza experience! I can t wait to go back and try another specialty pizza. Five stars!

Great location on the pier. Great view from the patio. Unfortunately, the homeless screaming and being aggressive at the entry was off-putting. In addition, the flies were wild and aggressive. Midway, we moved our large party inside and the flies were still out of control. The hummus platter and French onion soup were divine. Sadly, the flies will keep me from going back.

We had a great dinner experience here on a lovely evening in July 2024. It was our first time at the Bonaparte Bistro and we fully intend to return. The favorite item was easily the Avocado wrapped crabmeat roll. The sauce was excellent. See picture. My hubby liked his chicken sandwich. We had Key Lime Pie for dessert but probably try something else next time. The texture was a bit to compact and it didn t feel as fresh.

They do not deserve 5 stars, they deserve 10. All 4 of us said that the food was SPECTACULAR, and it was. It started with the strawberry lemonade through the crem brulae(I dont speak French. Lol) it was that good. The only thing I didnt like was I ate too much but it was worth it.

I am absolutely appalled by the experience my family and I had at this restaurant. While sitting nearby, we saw a group being served what looked like delicious wings, fries, and beverages. Intrigued, we decided to go in and order the same. However, the server who seated us told us, This is a restaurant, in a condescending tone. We were left bewildered and in disbelief. The server then refused to take our order and walked us out, despite the fact that we saw another table being served exactly what we wanted to order. This blatant refusal of service left us stunned. It s not about playing the race card, but the fact remains: we were the only Hispanic individuals there. This is the first time I have ever felt truly discriminated against. The shock and hurt of this experience are something I am still processing. This behavior is completely unacceptable and should not be tolerated. Avoid this place if you value respect and equality.

My rating, also, includes the Bonaparte Café. Our lunch at the Bistro was great. We all loved what we chose. Unfortunately, as a French person, I was extremely disappointed this morning with the almond croissant and apple croissant. They both were the worst croissants I ever had in my life: way too big, not enough tasty almond paste.......etc.

My husband and I had a great experience at Bonaparte Bistro! Its a lovely restaurant with a nice ambience. We had the trout and branzino dishes. Both were delicious and we also enjoyed the potatoes, Brussel sprouts and sautéed spinach as the side dishes. Brooke, our server, was very friendly, knowledgeable about the food, and provided great customer service! We enjoyed ourselves and will be back soon!

Laidback restaurant on Pier serving French bites. Came here for brunch with some coworkers for lunch after we did a relay and it was a good meal. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Credit cards and cash accepted. Kid-friendly. I got the breakfast sandwich per our waiter s recommendation. It was tres grand and I liked the buttery flakiness of the croissant. I opted to get mine with bacon but you can get it vegetarian as well. It came with a good size side of potatoes and I had leftovers. My coworker s salmon toast was a healthier option that had salad on the side. Our waiter was friendly and the vibes overall were relaxed.

Tried to go here at 8pm on a Wednesday night when it wasn t very busy. We were sat immediately but then forgotten about for 25+ minutes. The busser was kind and brought us water after 10 minutes but our server was nowhere to be found. The other waitress stopped by twice to tell us that our waitress would be coming, but they never came. We did see our waitress come out twice but she never once even looked at our table despite walking past us multiple times. Really disappointing as we were excited to try this place out. After 30 minutes we ended up leaving because there was no sign of ever being helped.

We sat down, I left my child at the table while I went to the bathroom and come out to see they moved my son and our table to the side(outside) of the restaurant. Very rude and maybe not even legal to move an 11 year old off premise without permission from a parent! ! Rude and also lied saying there was a reservation at the table we previously had.

Overall, I was not impressed with my experience at this restaurant. While the servers were friendly, the service was just terrible. Our food took over an hour to arrive, despite the fact that the restaurant was not very busy. Despite the wait, the food was decent - the pizzas, burgers, mac and cheese, and fries were all good. However, the poor service really put a damper on the experience. The waiters only visited our table a few times, and that includes bringing the food. Given the subpar service, I wouldnt recommend this restaurant and wouldnt choose to return myself. While the food is good, its not worth waiting over an hour for and the lack of consistent attention from the staff is disappointing.

I went there the other week when it was still called Greenspot. The food was not good. The dressing for the kale ceasar salad was flavorless. The salmon i ordered on the salad was good, though. I had to keep asking for more dressing and another poached egg and jalapeños to oomph up the flavor. The blt grilled Marys chicken sandwich was lacking (even the bacon was not that good), but the bread was tasty. Bonaparte Bistro has not created a new Google business for the new cafe. The reviews on Google have been for Greenbelt and Greenspot up until late May 2023. I was planning on going to Bonaparte today. I will not because i worry it may be the same management or chef from Greenspot. I do not recommend this restaurant and will not try it until i notice a whole new menu.

We were on vacation and walking around when we decided to eat here for lunch. There honestly wasn t a single thing we didn t love. My daughter has an egg allergy and they easily accommodated this. Not only that, but we had all of our children with us and they were very patient with us. If we lived in the area, we d certainly go back. The experience was amazing

Im not sure how new this restaurant is I am not familiar with it. But decided to go there cuz it looked very inviting. The atmosphere is great located in the Promenade where you can people watch. The food was very good and it came out in a timely fashion. But I will say the service was a little slow. The reason why I believe it was slow was do to lack of help, which I noticed they had a help wanted sign up. Other than that I enjoyed are brunch outing there! Hopefully they will have a full liquor license soon, cuz they did offer wine and champagne, Mimosas! I recommend stopping in you should enjoy yourself!

we dined here four times in four days. we tried to find other restaurants in hermosa beach that offered comparable food but nothing came close. day 1: black rice quinoa salad & mary s salmon entree day 2: same as day 1 plus tuna tartar day 3: chicken wings, black rice quinoa salad, and pizza day 4: short rib entree and mary s salmon entree no dish was lacking. everything was full of flavor and we came away completely satisfied. the restaurant was not packed and loud like others on the pier. i strongly suggest this gem.

We tried this place while visiting Hermosa Beach... We were a little apprehensive as no one in the restaurant but it was enclosed which was great because it was cold. Well we were very surprised. The food was good, although they were out of the first 2 appetizers we wanted, but we made due, and the service was good as well. My husband and I split the burger and an appetizer of the wings - very good. They were crisp skin not chewy and a great sauce on them. The burger was very good and the fries.... wow. cooked to perfection and hot! Well definitely go back and we hope others will try. They changed owners from previous but the food is good.

First time here & it was amazing. Waiter was incredible. My 2 active & at times screams kids didn t phase him. He expedited their food & was always happy to get more catsup for them. We had the mussels, crab avocado rolls, lamb, shrimp salad, salmon. Kids had chicken fingers w fries. Everything was delicious! Even the chicken fingers! I can t wait to go back & try rest of the menu!

Everything was delicious, especially the braised short ribs and the tomato basil leek soup. My 7 year old loved the soup so much hes asking to go back tomorrow to have it again (a rarity for something not involving chicken strips nor ranch). The service was also wonderful. My child was a bit hangry but the lady helping us was just so lovely and helpful. The indoor portion was nice and cozy, but theres also a large outdoor seating area with nice views.

Loved this place and the owner! We had just flown into LA the day we went to go there for dinner. Only after 10 minutes of being there our 1 year old hit her wall and was losing it! The owner was so incredibly nice. My husband took my daughter outside trying to calm her, it was cold and the owner went to try to turn on the heaters so they wouldnt be so cold. My daughter was not getting any better. It was clear she was not going to make it through dinner, so I ended up leaving with my daughter while my husband ordered our food to go. The owner was so sweet and made our food so fast, but no shirt cuts were taken in the quality! It was phenomenal! And the owner gave us a free piece of chocolate cake :). Nice little restaurant focused on clean, healthy food. My Prosciutto pizza with spinach was delicious! The pita and humus appetizer was unbelievably delicious, and my wife LOVED her salmon entree. The service was excellent! We ll be back!

The portions are huge. Which for that area of Hermosa is unusual. Starter of Brussels sprouts was literally enough for 4. Good sangria.

Great little local spot! Very generous proportions. Might seem like a small menu but they really have a good variety of vegetarian and meat lover options. Kids menu pizza was a great choice for our picky younger eater. Truffle fries are not to be missed. Loved chatting with the people who work there too! I look forward to seeing what they bring in on tap as they seem well poised for a more extensive bar menu. Well be back!

Without a doubt one of THE BEST RESTAURANTS IN HERMOSA BEACH! The chef and his assistant cook in a SPECTACULAR way! I recommend the pizzas which are made by them as well as any other dish on the menu. We found it by chance and we will repeat There are no photos of the dishes since everything was so delicious that we didnt have time to make them. TOTALLY RECOMMENDED restaurant! WE WILL BE BACK

best french fries I have had-hands down. Amazing mashed potatoes-the chicken was loved by everyone who ordered it! The veggie sandwich was an awesome vegetarian option on the pier. Really good salad dressings and everything at other tables looked amazing-definitely returning!

I had the BEST experience here! I don t usually write reviews but this place deserves it. Alex was an amazing server and recommended the original Mary s sandwich which was delicious. The service was 10/10 and the food was super fresh. I d definitely come back!!

My friends and I tried this place spontaneously, and we left full and happy. Service was great (the male server with longer hair in particular!) and had great no meat options. That pizza doe! Took some home for me to eat later! Looking forward to coming back!

Was on my honeymoon and first time in California and this place had one of the best burgers and fries I ve I had in my life!!! The truffle fries, pizza, chicken fingers, and chicken Caesar salad with kale were absolutely delicious!!! We went there several times during our stay and their service was fast and very friendly. We wish we could take this place back home with us ha ha ha. Will definitely visit again on our next trip!

My husband and I had lunch from here last weekend. We did takeout. I had the burger and upgraded to truffle fries. It was the best burger Ive had in a really long time. It was fresh and flavorful. The bun was perfect. The fries were the perfect complement. My husband really enjoyed his kale Caesar salad with chicken. The chicken looked amazing. We finished the meal with the date cake which was good but it could have been a little more moist. The guy who rang us up was really nice too. I would absolutely go back.

I honestly do not understand how this even got one star from anyone. my friend and I went here for Sunday brunch at around 11:30 am. My friend got the breakfast burrito and I got that avocado Benedict. We also got a pitcher of sangrias. the sangrias were awful the avocado Benedict was the most disgusting thing Ive ever eaten. It was an avocado and potatoes. Zero flavor, zero seasoning and I dont even know where the eggs were. My friends burrito was bland. And they lost our ticket so we waited an hour for that disgusting food. Dont waste your money or time going here!

This is the best restuarant in hermosa by far!! Everything from salads to burgers are to die for!! Also the management is great!! Hoepfully you get served by kelley she is the best server around always making sure my drink is full and I am not still hungry! This place has earned my business for life!! Thanks greenbelt!

Great dinner and brunch. Service is sometimes questionable but thats what you get on the Pier. Great happy hour though and they allow dogs on the patio.

Nice place if youre looking for healthier options. Went on a football Sunday, pleasantly surprised they had the NFL package. They have a good beer selection and definitely cater to the health concious consumer who is willing to pay a little more for higher quality ingredients.

Actually the best food on the Hermosa Beach Pier. So good, I went twice in my two-day visit. Once for breakfast and another for lunch. Portions are great, food is fresh, and there was nothing to complain about! Its busy here, but the service is still pretty fast. Is not hard to see why theyre doing so well.

Amazing food. Everything weve had here is delicious. My favorites are the truffle fries and the organic Marys chicken on a bed of sweet potato and Brussel sprouts. The ambience is nice, right near the beach with a view of the sunset. We usually sit on the patio. The service is always great with friendly staff.

The menu is pretty diverse, lots of sandwiches and salads. There are several wine and beer options to accompany like mimosas and Bellinis. I had the avocado BLT and it was pretty good, it couldve used a tiny bit more salt in my opinion. The fries were delish!
