This place is one of the most racist places in Hermosa Beach, the chef named Paul treats the Latino employees very badly and his supervisor knows this, please avoid this place.

We started with the scallop roll and milk bread (highly recommend). Halibut was cooked perfectly and the mapo pasta never disappoints. It was our first time having their matcha tiramasu and was pleasantly surprised. It wasnt overly matcha flavored for those who arent big fans of matcha.

RYLA is a contemporary restaurant offering a fusion Japanese cuisine. Losing a bet, I treated my friend for dinner at RYLA, a superb decision!! I asked our server for recommendations (She was really enthusiastic and attentive!) and we had the Korean styled spare ribs, miso ramen, grilled lamb chops, and matcha tiramisu. Starting with the spare ribs it was sweet with a slight tang, ultra tender (slips right off the bone) and has a glazed slightly charred exterior, one of the best ribs Ive ever eaten. The miso ramen was alright, really good fatty pork chashu, soft medium thick flat ramen noodles, with a really green and sharp spicy taste from the serrano chile and oil, egg looks good (My friend ate it). The lamb chop was super unique! It had a tangy yogurt topped with tons of quinoa allowing for a popping crunch, it was paired with the super tender lamb surrounded by bits of apricot and olive oil tasting liquid (tomato herbs fine sauce perhaps?) and it was SPECIAL, I love cooking lamb myself but never as rare or tender as this. Finally, the matcha tiramisu was the best! Maybe its because I was eyeing this dish ever since I found out about RYLA but this tiramisu was topped with a soft grass land-like of matcha powder followed by layers of airy matcha cake and sweet mascarpone cream, a delightful ending to a delicious meal. Overall, I loved how RYLA experiments with different dishes quite frequently always allowing frequent returners to try new delicious innovative dishes, I will be back! (DATEO?) Parking: There a quite of few bike parking spots!

Good fusion food place. Also, it has a good balance between a casual pub vibe and a decent dining place. All the food items on the menu are delicious, especially the meat dishes are amazing. Our favorite was a Korean rib sharing dish. That spicy sweet taste is exceptional. If we are around Hermosa Beach, definitely this would be the place for our pick. Recommend!!

Visited for an anniversary. Hands down the worst decision ever for this year. The food was okay but the service was horrible with slow responses and no consideration at all. I had a high expectation for the oyster but look at the pity gap between the oysters in the picture. :) Its so much different from what they show in the instagram. Plus, when I was not satisfied with the service they said I know its your anniversary! Wait for your dessert! And they gave us this little candle for the word :) after their serving with a wrong dessert. (They took it back right away and came back with my dessert with a pity candle.) about to be moved by the card, but the horrible server s name was not on the card. it was pre-made. Not touched. They charged me more for the wine, which was also wrongly ordered. I didnt expect so much but I believe that its better not to say anything than giving you a candle for your anniversary.

I absolutely LOVED this Asian fusion spot! It was so good, I went back 2x in 1 week so I could try more stuff on the menu. The restaurant is located in a very popular spot in Hermosa Beach. The atmosphere is lively, kinda dark and a younger crowd. They have a full service bar and they do offer happy hour. My first visit was on. Friday night and it was packed and got seated at a high top table in the bar area....nice but very cramped. We had barely enough room to squeeze in with less than 6 inches between us and both tables on each side. The 2nd visit was for the late night happy hour on a weekday and it was much less crowded....most pleasant since we had more room. I love that the menu is focused on farm to table and it changes frequently depending on what the chef finds at the local Santa Monica Farmers market. We tried the following items: Shishito pepper skewers (happy hour menu)$5 Pork Belly Bao Buns (happy hour menu) $13 Hot Chicken Sliders (happy hour menu) $12 Grilled Skirt Steak (happy hour menu) $32 Nashville Spiced Hot Chicken Kaarage $18 Grilled Ribeye Steak $58 Yuzu Shio Butter Ramen $22 Mapo Paccheri Pasta $24 Chocolate strawberry dessert $14 Everything we tried was great but the standouts were the grilled ribeye with the crying tiger sauce and the Mapo Paccheri Pasta ....the kaarage chicken and the pork belly baos were great too! Even the ramen was delicious! Honestly everything was really good quality with nice flavors. They offer happy hour M-F from 5:00-6:00pm and from 9:00-10:00 pm and weekends 3:00-5:00 pm and 9:00 pm- close. $2.00 off bar bites and discounts on drinks too. They do offer valet parking for $10 if you cant find metered street parking. I will definitely be back! This is one of my favorite new spots!

Eggs Benedict with pork belly also very good. Made reservations although it did not seem necessary for a Saturday. Sat outside and enjoyed the people watching as the location is right across from the pier. Outside accommodates mostly 2 or 4 tops so a big group will likely be inside. The lettuce was old with red ends. Truffle fried rice, oily. Chinese sausage made no sense. Wouldn t go back.

We love a good Asian fusion and RYLA did it very well. The Hokkaido bread was really good and matched really well with the spread that comes with it. The Nashville karage was also very good. Super moist and crispy in the outside. The Mapo pasta had all the right flavors of a Mapo tofu and Bolognese pasta, but was a little muted. If the flavor was a bit stronger it would have been perfect. The duck though was amazing and was the best dish we ordered. The dish we thought was just okay was the truffle fried rice. Hands down the best restaurant by the Hermosa Beach pier. The space is very cool: it has a contemporary, chic look but the tables and booths still have that relaxed beach feel. That combination of cool but relaxed carries over to the service. The servers are very friendly and super knowledgeable about the food. And the food is fantastic. The Nashville karaage and the milk bread are constant favorites, but my favorite dish is the black truffle fried rice (I get it without the truffle oil but with the black truffles). I have not had a bad dish here. My only concern is that once you get outside the appetizers, Ryla gets EXPENSIVE. This makes it more of a special occasion place at dinner time and a good spot for a nice brunch.

Simms restaurants have done it again! The most unstoppable hospitality group in the South Bay continues to bring high end dining culture to the bubble BY ANY MEANS NECESSARY. We were served by Stephanie who was an absolute delight and gave great recommendations, especially when it came to the cocktail menu where each option looked better than the last. The manager, Jimmy, was a consummate professional and we felt very well taken care of. This place is seriously lucky to have him! We sipped on White Lotuses, Grandmas Cigarettes, some wine, and a play on the vesper martini with You Only Live Twice. To eat we got the Dungeness Crab and Chilled Soba Noodles, Brussels Sprouts (on too many menus these days but these were THE BEST Ive had in years), Black Truffle Fried Rice (a must order), Chicken Karaage (great portion!), Tonkotsu Ramen, and Yellow Corn Succotash. We also got this pasta ragu dish that was sensational. It was all truly amazing and very impressive. These are flavors that are just extremely uncommon in the area and go so well together. A place like this was sorely missing from Hermosa and Im so happy its there now and doing well. A place Ill be talking about for a while and will come back with friends or family to show off anytime.

The cold noodles, flavor wise was lovely but the chicken was very big and chunky and felt odd for the dish. The curry pan was decent but nothing special? Love the concept and ambience. Looks and feels like Modern Japanese scenery when you walk in. Staff is super friendly and attentive. We came here for Dine LA which is $55 and includes an appetizer, main and dessert. The chicken karaage was really tasty and a large portion. It comes with a fresh slice of lemon and a charred scallion mayo. This was my favorite savory dish of the night. My main was the local black cod in a red mole sauce. I learned that I am not a fan of mole. To me, it has a bitter taste, but if you like bitter and you like mole, maybe it will taste good to you. Everyone s palette is different. My husband had the pork tonkatsu which was delicious and came with a bulldog (sweet and sour flavor) sauce. Then came the dessert. A Meiji soy milk pudding with a mini ginger churro. It had a berry sorbet, a thin layer of jelly, and strawberries as well. Everything in this dessert melded together very well - I was pleasantly surprised.

I never, ever write negative reviews but felt compelled to after my dinner this weekend. On the positive side, service was great, waitress was awesome, and drinks were good. On the negative side, the $35 yellowtail sashimi was quite possibly THE WORST sashimi I have ever had. Maybe it was a bad catch, but clearly no chef tasted it or else they never would have served it. Thickly cut, chewy, nothing to flavor except soy sauce and a stack of wasabi. Wish I had ordered the scallops instead, but I was expecting omakase level yellowtail for $35 an appetizer, it was atrocious, inedible, really no other way to put it. Osyters were good, cod was way too salty, NY strip was decent but not worth the price. Ended up having to order a massive bottle of sake to live with the regret of overspending on a very meh meal.

The food was 5 stars but our server was not great. Can not remember her exact name believe it was Rosaria. On our reservation we even wrote it will be our valentine dinner. She hardly checked on us, the other servers were checking on us more than she was. Our table and plates was clearly finished and she didn t even check to see if we wanted dessert or more drinks which we did. She was too busy pouring water into the cups of the other table next to us. This was not our first time at Ryla we have been for Sunday brunch which was a good experience. We ordered the yellowtail sashimi appetizer, half dozen oysters, chicken karaage for appetizers. Our main course was the lamb shank and the New Zealand snapper with two cocktails. I wanted to not tip based on the lack of attention but it is not fair to the rest of the staff who was actually coming by. We seen her go around to 3 diff tables checking on them when we clearly needed the bill or more drinks. We got up and paid at the front instead of ordering more. If I ever return will def request it is not rosaria I hope I got it right.

We had an amazing meal and great time at RYLA. The scallops were amazing, as was the Yellowtail Sashimi, the roasted cauliflower, and the (Nashville hot) chicken karaage. The drinks are fantastic. Would highly recommend!

Excellent fusion cuisine, selected ingredients and a decidedly refined environment. Excellent list of spirits. In 3 weeks traveling around California definitely the best restaurant! Not to be missed!

An excellent meal with inventive takes on Asian dishes. The milk bread, the karaage, the fried rice, the budino... all excellent! My only issue is that the parking situation suuucks, but that isnt necessarily Rylas fault. Regardless, support this place. It deserves to succeed.

Very good!!!!! Probably one of the best restaurants in Hermosa. Amazing sake, amazing ramen (a little salty but that goes with ramen anyways). The arugula persimmon salad is THE best. Shishito peppers were good, but a little on the crispy side -like not cooked maybe quite enough, or the Shishito peppers I ve ordered elsewhere were over cooked? The seasoning on them here at Ryla was great. The ribs are good too! Our lady server was amazing as well. I would definitely recommend giving this place a try. The ambiance inside us pretty cool too. Good Sake list!

Fusion done right. We managed to get a same day reservation for Friday at 8 outside patio. Heat lamps made this no problem. Drinks: solid and tasty. Fun pun names. Schezuan opera, gangsters paradise, you can ring my bell and grandmas cigarettes all came you tasty. I recommend you can ring my bell if you like bell pepper flavor or a hint of spice. Food: Bread: for sure get the Hokkaido milk bread! You get a generous portion of the spread which is a bit salty and pairs well with the sweet bread. Caesar salad: secret ingredients is peanut butter. Good with the anchovy flavor! Chicken karaage: wasnt anything spectacular from other places but sauce was good. Squash: good sweet dish that pairs well with mains. Oysters: too much going on. Grape flavor and tanginess. Might Anna skip if you like oysters. Fried rice: good flavor, rich without being oily. Mapo pasta: very much a fusion dish. Tawainese flavors on top of Italian. Lots of flavors as well and very filling. Overall, good food, good service, good atmosphere. Would love to come back and try their brunch menu.

Great place for brunch and they accept reservations! Theres an Asian twist to all of the menu items. During our visit we opted to get each get mains and share some of the sweet items. The Japanese Pancake and poptart were perfect for sharing or an appetizer since they arent big enough to be a meal on their own. The ramen that I had was great in flavor although maybe not the most breakfast haha.

On a lark went here with a friend and had a fantastic meal. Chef here did time with Providence and the creativity and quality. Service was excellent as well as design and ambiance. We did all starter plates and shared between us. Milk bread and nori dip were a hit as well as fresh oysters with tarragon and red grapes. Ribs were excellent with just the right amount of heat. The Caesar salad was spot on (the photo in Google is what hooked me) and provided a great balance to the other flavors. Shrimp appetizer was great as well, server offered to add one to even out the portions too! Chicken Karage was good though not Nashville hot as described. It was Magnum Monday so I enjoyed a glass of Sancerre and Pinot Rose with the Sancerre my fave. We filled up with the starter plates so finished ourselves off with the Tiramisu and called it a night. We will return to try out main plates and explore more of the menu soon.

This place is AMAZING! The food, the drinks, the atmosphere, and the service-everything exceeded expectations for a newly opened place. Hopefully they keep it up and dont go downhill, like a lot of places have in the last 2 years. Definitely a new favorite spot in the South Bay area!

Absolute best meal, best and most knowledgeable service. Creative menu, expansive, well stocked bar with great great bar tender. Jimmy, the manager, is friendly and informative. Ambiance is sublime. Best Restaurant in Hermosa. My son is Celiac and they accommodated, modified dishes, and used separate utensils and cooking surfaces. My favorites: oysters with tarragon different and refreshing , chicken skewers really great flavors , ribeye a standard but done perfectly , Caesar salad best, sorbets, Japanese whisky selection.

Celebrated our anniversary here. The food was delicious and ambiance was really nice. It was a bit noisy for conversation, but we noticed the seating outside was a bit more peaceful and our speed for conversation. The service was really good, even though we had to wait a bit in-between dishes ordered. Maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed because the place filled up fast at 630p dinner hour. Everything was delicious and we enjoyed our first time here.

I do not recommend this place. Atmosphere is very nice. Specialty cocktails on the menu are interesting. But Don t order miso ramen , black cod , it s all salty and the taste is really bad ! It s incredibly overpriced for what it is. I will never go back and would never recommend. There are so many other better places to dine in the Southbay. 1 start for customer service the ONLY customers at this place have to ask 3-4 times , and they still forgot my order !

Really love Japanese food and decided while here to try Ryla. We were greeted nicely and seated right away. The food was delicious, the server was great and the other server who poured our drinks and made sure that table was clear was really funny. Overall, I d go there again. Highly recommend the milk bread. Soo delightful.

Amazing - hidden gem - hands down the best restaurant I ate in while visiting the Hermosa/ Manhattan Beach area - we started off with their take on a standard Oyster & wow they crushed it - then came the scallops & spicy chicken which were legit dishes - then we finished the appetizers with the squash which was excellent (pro tip you can even eat the skin - who knew) - the entrees were also excellent - we had the Pork Tonkatsu & the Ox tail curry rice dish - wow - enjoy if youre lucky enough to get a table - book early its a small restaurant

Food was good even though I don t usually like Asian fusion. Service was friendly to make up for the inability to adjust the bonking bass noise. Dining out is experience of food AND atmosphere. If the ONLY customers in the place have to ask 3-4 times if you ve turned down the volume as offered, then maybe you should actually DO it at some point?
