Modern-day general store with eco-friendly breakfast & lunch, packaged goods & home furnishings.
Always busy, so service can be spotty. Excellent atmosphere and parking, though wooden floors makes conversation challenging. Went for brunch with friends who were pleased. I had Homemade Biscuits with Chicken-Apple Sausage Gravy; Poached Eggs, Creamed Spinach; very disappointed in flavor, presentation, balance of wet/dry. We'd been before with good experiences but I wouldn't recommend.

Wonderful, quaint little table service restaurant on the edge of downtown Larkspur. The friendly knowledgeable service was excellent as was the special of the morning; seafood Benedict. Our party of 4 enjoyed a wonderful Saturday brunch topped of with grapefruit mimosas.
We have recommended FHL to our family and friends. We can’t wait to visit again.

Great Farm to Table restaurant focused on breakfast. Ingredients were certainly fresh and both meals were delicious. I'd highly recommend the Huevos Rancheros - some of the best I've tasted. I liked the taste of the Biscuits and Gravy, but the gravy was more of a sauce than what I was expecting. Would absolutely visit again and delve deeper into the menu - omelette sounded great.

The service was good. The food was good, but not as good as it should have been for the price. The atmosphere was pleasant, but there were too many tables crammed into a small area. The acoustics were terrible. It was too noisy to hold a conversation even though the room was only half full.

I tend to order French toast at every possible chance I get, and here I got an interesting version of it. Not floating in syrup like at most places, it came with tasty (but not too sweet) sauce and mascarpone with some coconut flakes. Could be one of the healthiest French Toast I have ever eaten - if we consider this might contain less sugar than at most eateries. I liked it.
The back patio can accommodate dogs as well, there were a few puppies excited about the owner's food around us.

Food was prepared and presented well, but portions were a bit small. My only real gripe is the back patio roof. It’s sealed off with big plastic sheets causing it to be swelteringly hot and quite humid on a hot day. Wish I had gotten something other than the poached eggs/ biscuits and gravy too…they just didn’t get the job done

Update: I used to love this place but it just hasn t been as good the last couple of times I went here. Not sure what changed. Truly farm to table. This place has some of the best food I ve had in the United States, comparable to the quality of ingredients you more commonly find in Europe. The dishes are simple but simply delicious. Service is always excellent.

This place is loud. Not just from the customers but the servers are loud. They took over one of the tables to prep roll ups and they were joking/talking, which is fine. However they were so loud it was hard to have a conversation at the table. They would also yell to each other from around the restaurant. Again, servers need to talk, that is fine. But yelling to the point multiple customers turn to look at why it s so loud is not. The server tried not once but three different times to clear our plates while we were still obviously eating. There were other open tables so it wasn t like there was a rush or the like. The table and chairs were dirty, one chair had bacon chunks and grease on it. The jam bowl had bits of someone else s (hopefully) toast in it. The green sauce s lid was crusty and caked with dried sauce. The food was so so, edible but not seasoned. The over cooked potatoes with the eggs had zero seasoning, not even salt. They were so overcooked that a couple of them a fork could not pierce. The toast was somehow over toasted but also not toasted in the center. The French toast (which was the star of the show according to the MariIJ) was $19. Nineteen dollars for a dish that was good but was max a $14 dish. While the food was so-so, at the prices they are charging, the food should have been excellent. The prices were giving its Marin, they can afford it assumptions. The prices of hot beverages fall in to that same category, $3.50 for 12oz black coffee.

This is probably the best cafe in Larkspur. I hope they stay here forever! I love the celeriac latkes with house smoked gravlax. My husband loves their regular 2-egg breakfast. I love the salmon nicoise. One piece to work on: the French Toast is really good but the texture of the coconut whip when we had it was very off, super grainy I would change the formulation to omit desiccated coconut, maybe use toasted sweetened coconut instead, and either use coconut cream or whipping cream to mix with mascarpone it needs to be fluffier. Oh and try their hot sauce, it s AMAZING. Vegetarian options: Eggplant panini, eggs and toast, chilaquiles, French toast, many other dishes can be modified to be veg Dietary restrictions: There are several gluten free options, dairy free you have to ask. This place may be not a great fit for vegans.

Good food, certainly fresh and flavorful. But our experience was very stressful this time(this wasnt the first time we were there) the server did not seem very happy to serve us. Despite ordering the butternut squash soup and asking if its vegetarian they missed placing the order and were rude to respond when I checked back if its coming after a good twenty minutes or so. Again I totally understand they might have been busy, it wasnt about the wait as much as it was about the mediocre response which almost felt like we were being discriminated against (I felt like that, I could be wrong). The coffee was served cold, the server made a frustrated face when we ordered the apple turnover. He almost wanted us to leave. Anyways, we love the Marin area and we wont let one experience like this define it for everything the place has to offer. But I hope this makes them think!

One of our favorite places to go for breakfast or brunch. We love the informal atmosphere, the friendly staff and the food. When available, we prefer to sit outside in the back patio where dogs are welcome. The ingredients are fresh, mostly locally sourced and everything weve ever had there has been delicious. Kid-friendliness: My grandkids love the fresh-squeezed orange juice, the pancakes, waffles, French toast, fresh fruit. Never have any trouble getting them to eat.

Farm House Local is one of the most disappointing dining experiences I have ever had in Marin. I visited for the first time recently for breakfast. I arrived with great anticipation based on other reviews and the extensive biography of chef/owner David Monson that is exhaustively detailed on their website and menu. The main dining room was overstuffed with small, cramped tables that were mostly unused. It had that atmosphere of a struggling restaurant. I was quickly seated and served coffee. So far so good. I ordered a simple, standard breakfast of two eggs over easy, bacon and potatoes. It took much longer than I expected for my breakfast to arrive, especially given the thin crowd. I immediately noticed a thin layer of oil beneath the eggs ugh. Next, all of the food was lukewarm. The delay must have been due to my meal sitting on the ready shelf waiting to be delivered. The potatoes lacked seasoning and were cumbly. The bacon overcooked. All short of even mediocre. This was not a meal cooked by a chef with Monsons claimed pedigree. He should be ashamed. My coffee was empty and I had not seen a server since my initial pour. I tried to get the attention of the one server on the floor, but he was very engaged in an animated conversation with a regular. They talked and talked. He made eye contact with me then ignored me. Finally he broke away and served me coffee without apology. The final disappointment was the cost. It was the most expensive breakfast I have ever had in Marin. The value to price ratio was zero. I will not return and I do not recommend it. David Monson might be Parisian trained, but I dont think he has been a guest at his own restaurant for some time, he would not be happy.

Amazing food saffron honey French toast and some of the best Eggs Benedict I ve ever had. The hollandaise was light and fluffy, clearly very fresh and mustardy like I like it. The French toast was not very sweet, but very rich and flavorful. The service was probably just a hiccup the place was packed. We never got coffee refills, it took forever to get the check, and the once-attentive server seemed to abandon us when I didn t order a second mimosa. We re not going to let that deter us from going back, but if it happens again, we ll think twice. If your expectations are set for the service, the food is thoroughly worth it!

This place is awesome because of the great quality of food, it is hard to find. I love that I can go to a breakfast place with my kids and get real maple syrup and not fake GMO. Great quality coffee. Friendly service. The food came fast. I would just add for improvements; re fills on water and coffee are needed without having to ask after we finished our meal. Maybe it was just this one time and is not a norm. Also a spoon is needed with coffee. I still give them 5 stars because of their quality and friendliness.

After staying the night in Fairfax, we were looking for a tasty brunch spot when my partner suggested this place. We love a great farm-to-table restaurant and this place seemed to have a great brunch and lunch menu. The parking here is ample, you can find street parking or theres a public lot just across the street. You can sit inside or there is a small covered patio out back, with about seats for 20-25 people. We sat in the patio area on a warm August morning, which made us grateful that it was partially covered and offered some shade and reprieve from the heat. The house coffee is delicious and they keep the cups full!

Feels like a cafeteria, charges like a restaurant. Uncomfortable wooden chairs, limited menu, adequate service, just uninspiring... Sadly, people frequent this place and are under the delusion that it is better than it is. If youre reading this and trying to make a decision whether you should go or not, my opinion is, there are better places to go and leave your money. If you are the owner, there are certainly improvements to be made that could really make this place a winner. Love your friends and neighbors? Then share this post!

Water said you cant just say pancake... I ordered soup and sandwich, both brought out at the same time. Waiter said you have to ask for them to be brought out separately. My soup was warm, not hot, and the corned beef sandwich was the worst Ive ever had. The potato celery root pancake was burned and had to be cut with a knife. Time for management to get reinvolved.

The food was delicious. I particularly enjoyed the salad served with huevos rancheros... I gave them 4 stars instead of 5 because I think it would have been better with a ranchero sauce instead of Pico de Gallo and the ratio between price and portion needs balancing. Either lower the price or increase the portion. Kudos to them
