Boathouse on the Bay

My family took me out for an early birthday celebration. I really enjoyed the food, the attentive service, and the environment. The scenery overlooking the harbor was an added plus. I tried to get good pics before we all started eating. Lol, not everyone cooperated. Mom and I had the Salmon dish. The pickled cucumbers were tasty but a little spicy for me. My husband had the shrimp salad, daughter had a pasta dish, and future son in law had the steak dish. All five different dishes are highly recommended. Great variety of everyday food with a twist if something special. The chef knows what she or he is doing. Worth the money in my opinion and the portions were great. We couldn't eat it all and took some home with us.

Got a decent breakfast from here while waiting for a flight at LGB. There were only a few customers when I was there. Service was quick. Servers were quite attentive and caring. Food was good. Just the flavor I wanted! Inside seating was a bit limited. Outside was cold in a winter morning but it’s doable.

Just ate here. I have eaten here before and it was good. Today was pathetic. First the server told us they were out of several items on the menu. Next I ordered fish and chips. When the order came I thought the server was joking. The fish was very small, there were 7 normal French fries and a dab of coal slaw just over the size of a quarter. The waitress apologized and said her manager said that is the size of the portion. I wanted to ask her for some vinegar or tartar sauce but after waiting 10 minutes I gave up. The meal was $25 and couldn t have been worth $5.10. Very sad and frustrating.

I recently visited Boathouse on the Bay at Long Beach Airport and ordered the fish and chips. The fish was perfectly crispy on the outside and tender on the inside, paired with golden fries that were just the right amount of crunchy. The flavors were spot-on, and the portion size was perfect. Thank you Chef Chris for preparing this dish. I highly recommend this dish for anyone looking for a classic done right. Great atmosphere, too can t wait to come back!

Went to the bar to get cookies for my kids right before the flight at 6:55. The woman that worked the bar on Sunday told me I needed to wait. She came back to me at 705 and said the kitchen actually closed at 7. She was rude and did not help me navigate a solution. Terrible experience.

Boathouse order: Clam chowder- too salty Coconut shrimp- no flavor Dashwood Sauvignon blanc- decent Asked for water in my hydro flask and bartender told me he cant do that for sanitary reasons. Moments later this white woman next to me asks for the same thing. He pours water directly into her hydro flask. Is this racism? Laziness? I dunno, but I dont like contradictory behavior. One star.

12/10 DON T recommend the chilaquiles. They shouldn t offer it. They should stick to seafood. Got the chilaquiles with chicken. Chicken was dryyy. Verde salsa was a lil too space for this particular dish. And the plating made no sense for the dish. It was quite deconstructed and difficult to enjoy the flavors. Server, Danielle, was lovely though. Steel drums performer was also fantastic.

Hung out at the bar at the airport for 30 mins before my flight, had Giovanna as my tender and she rocked through orders. People had quick turn around on flights and she was able to make it happen. Nice lady, I love stopping here whenever I travel outbound LGB.

Came here in between flights to grab some brunch. We sat for a while and finally a server came and threw some menus at us and informed us that the kitchen was closed for another 30 minutes as they were cleaning the kitchen from breakfast. Never heard of this but we had time to wait..when our official server arrived (Victor) he was great and attentive food was good too no gripes there until I attempted to flag someone down to bring our check I asked this other server by the name of (Tiffany) if she could help bring our check and she totally ignored me. I looked at her from across the restaurant and she yelled back at me saying I m not your server! I have never had a server or anyone be that rude to me in a restaurant. Finally our server came and we got our check on the way out I saw Tiffany and asked her why she was so rude when I asked her a simple question? She said I wasn t rude to you and said, Can t you see how busy we are? Look..I understand being busy but simply ignoring someone and not acknowledging them is simply rude .i doesn t take but a couple of seconds to tell someone, I m sorry but I ll get your server it s all about her demeanor and how she attempted to justify that being rude to someone just because your are busy is acceptable. I ve been in the hospitality industry and she honestly has no business being a server .i travel a lot in and out of Long Beach Airport and I will never dine here again .doesn t matter how good their food is!

Keysha who was working the bar on the 26th of March, had the most horrible attitude. She was rude to both my mother and lacks being professional at work. The bar wasnt that crowded yet most tables were dirty. Carlos our server who later visited our table apologized for Keysha not wanting to hand me my drink at the bar even though she had already made the drink yet set it aside, knowing my mother and I were sitting down at the table in front of her. When I asked her why she didnt want to hand me the finished drink she told me, rudely, Do you want to pay for it first? No. Then go sit down So unprofessional to be demanding a tip or funds only because she knew I wasnt going to be seating at the bar. Then she asked me if I heard her, rudely... Because I was still standing in disbelief at her service & attitude. I informed her I heard her but would rather stand. This isnt her restaurant and she shouldnt be treating customers in this manner. We left the restaurant and well stop by here. I recommend management or the owner check the video. Youll agree she shouldnt be in the service industry.

Ok, it s an airport restaurant but I felt compelled to give them props. Very pleasant and professional servers, attractive view of the pretty courtyard and the food is way better than I expected. I had a club sandwich with a side salad. The side salad was fresh, huge, and delicious. The vinaigrette dressing was delish. The sandwich was fresh, ample and tasty. Very good avocado. Would def come back to this little place. Slapping 80s tunes as well, lol.

Just got off of a cruise and eating delicious cruise food. The burger and coconut shrimp are by far better here at Boathouse on the Bay. Victor was a great waiter. He made sure we had what we wanted and never had a want. He was on top of the food and drinks. Great job. Don t miss eating here.

This has been one of my favorite eateries for many years, inside an airport or not. Ill fly LGB just so I can visit the Boathouse and have the clam chowder, its the best in town. The staff is great, and Giovanna has often been my server. Shes first class, and she treats her customers very well, even the occasional problem children. Great variety of drinks. Comfortable seating at the bar and lots tables. They do a good job..

We went there for a special occasion recently. Upon being seated, we were not greeted by a server until we asked after waiting about 15 minutes. We tried getting a couple of employee s attention and they just looked right through us as if we were invisible. When we did finally get our server s attention she just shrugged it off and said she didn t see us at first and was distracted with some other tables. Also, when we were first seated a couple of us almost slipped on a puddle of water next to our table and pointed it out to a server or busser who said they would get someone to clean it up and no one ever did, so the slip hazard was still there every time one of us needed to use the restroom and when we left. Most of the food was delicious but we were disappointed there was not a surf and turf option nor lobster tail. Their steaks are apparently better than their seafood. The calamari has a lot of greenery and fried onions added so the portion was a bit disappointing. The scallops only come with four and a small bed of rissotto. The chilean seabass was good but not amazing but the new york and filet were like butter amazing, as well as the sushi rolls. Speaking of rolls, no bread or rolls were offered, not sure if they just don t serve them? The soup was tepid but we didn t have to wait/makenthe effort to get our server s attention. Whom by the way had a little bit of an attitude and seemed disgenuine. After our main course was served, two of us were without a fork for about ten minutes until the server came by to check on us. The musician was good, but makes it so loud on the patio we could hardly hear each other to have decent conversation. In retrospect an indoor table probably would have been better. Our heater went out about halfway through our meal and it was just moved off to the side and we had to get a bussers attention to get it addressed. He was actually very nice. It was a busy weekday evening, but didn t seem slammed enough to justify the inattentiveness.

The service was non-existent. We were ignored, and then when we asked to order, the response was, it was shift change.The portions are small, and the food and drinks were overpriced. For example, $22.00 for a micholata.

Food was decent, but very pricey. Service was not so much. $23 for a small burger and extra $5 for bacon on it. Order was wrong, burger was cold with no bacon. When I was finally able to bring it up, I was brought 3 very small, paper thin pieces of bacon on a separate plate. Not a were sorry , nothing. Lets just say the tip was given, ( I dont believe in not tipping) but not 15%.

This was a cool place to visit period although the food was not the best, the service was pretty normal, but the atmosphere was great. If Im in the area, Im not sure that I would go back, not because I didnt enjoy it but because there are other places around that I. Would love to try also. All in all, I would recommend this place to anyone in town looking for something to eat

My friend and I were leaving Long Beach to head home. The server didn t come to us after 15 minutes. When going to the bar to seek service was met with an attitude like she didn t want us there. So we went across the way to 4th Street Vine and got amazing service, quality drinks, and food. It was amazing that we experienced the worst service of the trip at the end.

Ordered three things and they ended up being out of two and then some. The kitchen took so long (over an hour) making our calamari and two sandwiches that my type one diabetic husband s blood sugar started the crash. When we asked for some bread to help with the wait nothing was done. I had to walk into the bar area and demand some food and was handed the calamari. Our waiter kept apologizing. The place wasn t even at half capacity. Great food and nice waiter but the kitchen needs to ramp it up.

Deja at the Boathouse on the Bay at the Longbeach airport is fantastic. When flying out I always come early to enjoy their food. But I keep forgetting how fast they are. You have to try the blackened Mahi Mahi sandwich, INCREDIBLE.

I m kind of at a loss. Based on the reviews and photos here, we were expecting something decent, but our meal looked nothing like the fresh cut fries or buttered buns pictured. After a 40-minute wait, our chicken sandwiches and fries were straight-up Sysco: premade, dry, over-salted and flavorless. The whole meal for two chicken sandwiches and a couple club sodas were $67 after tip. If this is what I thought restaurant-quality food was, I would eat food for fuel.
