Finally made it to Chez Bacchus, and it did not disappoint! Id been wanting to check it out since they opened, and the valet service was a nice touch. From the moment we walked in, we were warmly welcomed by the owners and friendly staff, setting the tone for the evening. The ambiance is charming and inviting, perfect for a cozy night out. We started with the octopus appetizer, which was delicious, and enjoyed both the chicken and salmon entrees each was incredibly flavorful and beautifully presented. The in-house sourdough bread was equally as good. Located near the East Village, its definitely worth stepping out of our usual Belmont Shore routine to experience this gem.

What a nice place to spend a Sunday brunch with your best friends, family or other half. From the welcome greeting to the end you will you feel special. The cozy atmosphere, the exotic tea varieties, sandwiches and desserts all served in fine English china make up for a total experience The cones and sweets were delightful. A must try is the Long Beach mushrooms sandwich Advice: be prepared to spend extra time finding parking. The place is located in the popular Olive Avenue

Very unexpected find. Beautiful and tasteful decor. Everyone there was friendly and warm, even the other customers. Melissa was our server. She was great. Ordered the special for Long Beach restaurant week. I must have heard the explanation of the special because when it came, i was surprised because it had items I couldnt eat. I tasted what I could and the brisket was tender and tasted sooo good. Chef Danny Le came to the table to inquire about the meal. It was awesome meeting him. There are items on the menu I want to try, so Ill be back.

John has created a hidden gem on an admittedly un-hip section of 4th Street, across from the Ace hardware store but the menu, service and atmosphere are top notch and well worth stopping by any time you are down for a fine dining experience. Highly recommended!

Treated my husband to his first high tea, he loved it! The price per person is affordable, ambience and decor are great. Table setting with fine China, in house pastry chef, a variety of tea s and the service impeccable. The owner is nice and accommodating. You can rent out the 10 person private room with a pre fix meal and the chef interacting with you during your stay. I highly recommend Chez Bauccus.

We went for a fancy family birthday dinner and had one of the most amazing meals ever! We had a variety of appetizers, salad, Tomahawk Steak (and a cauliflower steak as a vegetarian option which was just added to the menu!) and finished it all off with some beignets with strawberry powdered & vanilla cream cheese sauce. Every single thing was delicious! The craft drinks were also stellar and the staff was amazing. Worth every penny. If you want to really treat or impress someone, bring them to Chez Bacchus Vegetarian options: They have a few vegetarian dishes and the chefs were also able to offer some substitutions for the vegetarian in our group.

Very nice experience at Chez Bacchus. Invited a fee childhood friends to catch up over high tea. The service was prompt and attentive. Food was delicious and served nicely on a three-tier tower. Nice wine selection to choose from. I had my bubbly Rosa Regale, which I have not had since Ninos was open on Atlantic Ave. Started off with refreshments and a small salad. Greens were crisp and that anchovy put in that missing flavor in any Cesar salad. Petite finger foods were enough to satisfy my palate. Best part was the overall presentation. Bravo. Will be back soon! Parking: Best to rideshare there if you dont want to worry about parking. Parking is jmpacted, however, the one-hour parking isnt really checked on the weekends, per the owner.

Exceeded our expectations. The grilled octopus appetizer was tender and perfectly seasoned. The succotash entree was surprisingly complex, with balanced flavors. And the banana banoffee dessert was perfect with a port. Service was timely and impeccable. The one thing I might ask is more mocktail options, but otherwise very little to critique. Well worth the price!

We stayed in long beach for 3 months, and ate out 2-3 times a week to try new places. This was by far, the most personalized and attentive service we received. They have a knowledgeable sommelier to help with wine pairing that matched our preference, nailed the recommendations. The food was excellent as well. The water glasses were never empty. We thought this was certainly one of the top experiences in Long Beach - highly recommend it. Chicken mouse was fantastic!

To top it of we were served by John who took exceptional care of us from the moment we walked in and throughout our whole meal. I wish we could come for dinner, but we re visiting leaving tomorrow. This is our second time here, and it was just as wonderful this time. The service is impeccable and they seem to take a lot of personal pride in their offerings. We had the breads and cheeses, the filet mignon skewers, the venison chops, the sea bass, cheesecake and the lemon cake. It is hard to pick a stand-out item because everything was so well prepared. We settled on the venison being the best of the entrées and the warm lemon cake with fennel ice-cream was just a delight. This is the best food weve had in Long Beach.

The atmosphere was fancy and the Host sat us down near the windows in the front. He placed our napkins on our laps, he asked if we wanted flat or sparkling water. We received our menus and the wine list and water very quickly. We ordered appetizer and the food came out quickly. We ordered octopus appetizer, duck, risotto, and a millefeuille apple dessert. The octopus and duck was excellent. We shared everything and it all tasted great. We weren t completely satisfied with the risotto recipe. We came in winter and sitting by the window was quite cold. There was a large party, and a few other couples. There is actually a great place to sit at the bar to have a meal as well. We thought it wasn t that busy for a Friday. We came to celebrate a birthday, and they brought our dessert with a candlelit on top. I would love to come again for a special occasions. The price could have been price better. The wine list was excellent. We were overall very happy.

Pros: Booked a reso fairly easily as a last minute plan for a mum&dad date night. My cocktail was delicious (rosemary collins). Staff was friendly and inviting. Husband and I were only hungry to sample different appetizers: beef cheek pot pie, Spanish octopus, and shrimp pan roast. Based on the stellar reviews, I left feeling underwhelmed on our plates. Shrimp pan roast would ve been my favorite if it were cooked properly (it was over). Cook on the octopus was perfect though the salad it came with was heavily dressed with balsamic, so the acid took over. Pot pie was tasty and seasoned well though I wasn t too fond of the consistency of the gravy. Puff pastry on the pot pie was delightful. Overall, we had a wonderful date night at Chez Bacchus.

We loved the owners. They greet you and chat with you. One is a sommelier and recommended a great wine. They have a mixologist that made amazing drinks for us - mine tasted like an apple pie. The appetizers were very good. We got the shrimp and the cheese plate. The main courses were disappointing though. The duck was rubbery but whatever it was swimming in, (a juicy gravy) was divine. Two at our table got the risotto both said it lacked depth and flavor (Everyone who makes risotto on top chef gets kicked off so Im not sure why anyone puts this on their menu). One of us got the fish (Halibut maybe? It was a white fish) he said it was the best hes eaten. The entrees were not cheap at all between $35-$60 per plate so we ate them all up except for one of the risottos. We were exhausted from the year and wanted to just BE and talk and enjoy each others company. We just didnt want to complain. The restaurant was beautiful and again the people were nice. Im guessing it was a bad night for the chef - try it for sure, but dont get the risotto. Parking: They have valet

This restaurant has everything one would look for, when you want a special night out. There were four of us that had dinner, which included cocktails, wine (by the way, plenty of choices there), incredible food from a taste standpoint and presentation. Add to this attentive service and classy ambiance, you have the recipe for a fine evening. I had the maple leaf Duck, which was delicious and not the slightest bit greasy. Other had the venison (no gaminess), filet mignon (perfection) and the miso-glazed Norwegian salmon (beautiful). Of course, for the show-stopper there was table-side served Bananas Foster. Also a delicate apple mille feuille. The desserts were wonderfully sweet, but not too sweet. This place will likely be the next Michelin star restaurant in Long Beach!

Honestly one of the BEST restaurants in LB and LA hands down. Chef Danny and his team truly celebrate every ingredient they present on a plate and everything marries so well together. Its a culinary masterpiece. And bonus...not only is the food amazing but the staff here treat you like family. Also, their staff matches all your meals with the perfect glass of wine to elevate whatever dish youre enjoying that night. Ive been here multiple times and I have yet to find to a menu item that doesnt exceed expectations. Both their brunch and dinner are worth checking out. It was so good one day that my bf and I decided to check out both meals in the same day. Worth it!

Review №79

Restaurant is trying very hard to be something they lack experience in. Akin to someone who rents an expensive car to drive it around in town to show off... Chez Bacchus equally comes off poorly. Host made it clear they were farm to table, yet most meat and veg was neither local nor seasonal. Hostess made it a point to tell us they poached their sommelier from Napa Rose at Disneyland and that should tell us how serious they are. Wait staff were friendly but often fell over themselves trying to manage complex dishware and table real estate which struggled to handle, water glasses, tea set, bread and an appetizer. Ever action is priced an taxed, even water service. Theres a reason luxury restaurants dont do this. Food was intelligently crafted and well done but kitchen failed to keep both dishes warm even when the restaurant was less than 15% full (3 tables). Sadly this restaurant is highly priced for the neighborhood, pretentious and pretending to be something their not. This is not a Michelin star in disguise. Would a Michelin star restaurant forget a detail like missing the L in valet?

Got home from Bacchus 20 min ago. Turned on Better Call Saul. And immediately began writing this review. Long Beach officially has its finest fine dining restaurant. Quite simply there is no better restaurant in long beach and we have been to nearly all of them Dave, John, Rena, Isaac, Roberto, Anthony, Wyatt. Its not just the food, or the service. but the passion and knowledge. The fine dining mecca that California lost when San Francisco self immolated has been replaced in Long beach -Alex

The Good: Farm to table at an okay-ish price if the service matched. Beautiful indoor space with vaulted ceilings. Wagyu Pot Pie is a little heavy for an appetizer, but delicious. The Bad: Disorganized service - was asked by multiple people if I would be having wine, and then asked by multiple people what were my preferences. Our other beverages took so long that we checked to make sure they were being made. The lack of communication within the staff made for an awkward evening. Cheese plate appetizer was underwhelming without any explanation of what cheeses we were served. My pork dish arrived missing the rhubarb topping. Luckily one of the servers noticed and brought it out. It ended up being very good. Summary: Please give them a try. The food is good, but the service has room for immense improvement that will take Chez Bacchus from a meal to an experience.

Such an amazing dining experience. The service was great from the moment we walked in until we said our goodbyes. The Short Ribs were some of the best I have had.

Amazing food and wine! The staff was so nice and very attentive to my guests every need. The restaurant s owner helped me pick just perfect wines for each course of food. He took time to share his vast knowledge about the wines and foods that we all enjoyed very much. I look forward to returning with friends very soon.
