Fun spot for inventive breakfast plates, plus craft beer & cocktails, in hip & quirky surrounds.
Our monthly luncheon was at Breakfast Republic today the last day of October aka Halloween. We had a great breakfast of Shrimp and Grits, Oreo pancakes and 2 orders of the linguica and sausage scramble. A few costumes and we enjoyed good conversation about the Dodgers!

Today was our second visit and the experience has been consistently awesome. We initially came because we were looking for a new breakfast hangout that is gluten-free friendly. On our first visit, we sat at the bar and our server Victoria made us feel welcome and took the time to make conversation. Alexis gave attentive service and was conscious of my allergy. Love the vibe and the location. Easy parking, reasonably priced.

We went here for breakfast. The food there was very tasty. I appreciated that they had a vegan section and tried the breakfast burrito. The burrito tasted just like regular eggs and meat. Portions were a decent size, The place is a bit on the pricier side though, our check was over $100 for 4 people not including tip.
I also really liked the decor. The egg shaped salt and pepper shakers were really cute and there are some inspirational sayings in the wall.

Lucky enough to show up here on a weekday morning, and it not be packed full of people, which it usually is on the weekends. The menu itself is not a very traditional one, but you’ll find a lot of new items on the menu that you’ll probably love. First off the breakfast potatoes are some of the best I’ve ever had. Cooked perfectly with a slight crunchiness on the outside, seasoned well, and still soft on the inside. The omelette is large and packed full of ingredients. I was able to add almost a full side of pancakes as the bread substitute for a measly 1.50$. They have several great options for pancakes, and I chose the coconut lemon, which had just a slight taste of lemon in the pancake, but fresh, shredded coconut on top, they were incredible. The Jurassic skillet is chock full of meats and tasty. The staff were friendly and attentive, always checking on us to make sure that we had everything we needed. The indoor atmosphere is light and airy, well lit, and there are some outdoor seats for the great weather. Will definitely return to try some of the other menu items that had my curiosity peaked, and for more of those breakfast potatoes.

I'm not a big breakfast person, but Breakfast Republic gets my vote.
Crab and crawfish cake Benedict was light, but yet full of flavor. The house potato was well fried and nicely seasoned. No dry starchy potatoes here.
The Mexican coffee was on the sweeter side, I wouldn't recommend it unless you like Starbucks-ish flavors coffee

Jalapeño sausage omelette was great, pancakes sampler was incredible, the pineapple pancakes were my favorite. The fresh fruit platter was perfect for the little one, with a side of bacon. Food was delicious, great atmosphere and attentive staff. Food came out fast and everything was correct with great portions. No stairs so it’s wheel chair accessible, parking lot is small so that’ll be hit or miss.

Came here on Saturday at noon and this restaurant was so inviting! Their service, food and atmosphere were very pleasurable.
We ordered the Lychee Mimosa and Irish Coffee to drink, and had cinnamon roll and pineapple upside down pancakes. Super delicious and filling.

Entrees are pretty big, but the food is bland and the salsa was basically just chamoy, not real salsa. Service is good though. The Breakfast Bar in DTLB is way better.

We were hungry and it was just before lunch, but we were craving breakfast. We found this place in one of our favorite spots to visit during the midday. The staff was super nice, the service was a bit slow, but it wasnt too crowded and the food was delicious. The prices were cheap and the American breakfast was really good. They offer free coffee refills and they have a small free parking area and paid street parking.

Excellent location, good food at the right price. Don t miss the bottomless strawberry lemonade and the chilaquiles! The system for placing guests, however, is strange - we were five people and they could easily have seated us at a table for four with an extra chair, yet they let a lot of other smaller groups (including groups of four) who arrived after us get their tables first. Vegetarian options: Several vegetarian options!

Chilasquiles with asada. Overpriced and heavy for the stomach. This is only brakefast place and for a few buck more you can get better food around the area. Parking: Limited parking inside.

How disappointed and felt disgusted I was - I totally forgot to take pictures.. I ordered through DoorDash, it was handed to me, with an open bag, not sealed, cold food (when it s supposedly hot breakfast), no receipt attached, no condiments, it was clearly I added syrup but nope no syrup.. the container was half way open, lots of greasy hand prints in the container.. I was very disappointed, I lost my appetite.. Breakfast Republic please train your employees in Long Beach area for a proper handling food safety for your customers especially for delivery..

I had tried them originally in San Diego & I was happy to visit them again, today, in Long Beach. The service was great! Yes, we waited about 20mins but whatd you expect? Its Sunday Funday! Once seated, our server Veronica (hopefully that was her name ) was extremely friendly & serviceable. She kept coming by and checking in on us & making sure we had an incredible time. Then the star of the show... The food! We got one of their scramblers with house made potatoes & breakfast Mac & cheese w Jurassic Pork. Must try! Dont leave this place without trying it! Food was delightful, so gracias parcero chef Emerson! Would I recommend you coming here? Yes, definitely. If your in Long Beach, come enjoy some delicious food & drinks before starting your beach day! Parking: Parking lot is next to the restaurant. Theres about 6-8 spaces, but then plenty of street parking on the side.

Excellent, upscale and sometimes even unusual breakfast/brunch fare. Portions are big and can easily be split between those less hungry or those of us watching the waistline. Standouts are the house potatoes tossed with pesto, and Jurassic Pork, thick cut bacon with a maple? sugar glaze and a hint of heat. Patio is dog friendly, steel water bowls provided. Our German shepherd was particularly taken by bits of the Jurassic Pork. Parking: As always, showing up in Belmont Shore at peak periods can be a bit difficult. Wheelchair accessibility: Roll in, roll out.

The coffee was good, but that s about it. The food coming out looked good (especially the pancakes) but I ordered the San Diego Benedict breakfast and the turkey had an off taste and the potatoes were VERY plain. My meal seemed to have eggshell in it. My husband had the Chicken Fennel Omelette, which tasted good, however we were charged an up sell for the butter and jelly for his toast!! What the heck! When our food came we had to wait a minimum of 5 minutes to ask for silverware (we ended up asking the hostess). My coffee cup was COMPLETELY empty and sitting at the end of the table, hoping our waitress would get the hint and refill it. I had to flag her down and ask for a refill. Upon exiting the restroom, I almost slipped and fell. I need a cane to walk and it slipped right out from under me and then my feet almost went. If it wasn t for the busboy to grab on to, I m sure I would have fallen. Needless to say, we will not be going back. We ate around noon and 3 hours later I find myself still throwing up .

HOMOPHOBIC TOWARDS ME AND MY WIFE. Not an LGBTQ+ friendly establishment. Our waitress was friendly. The issue came up when we tried to use the restroom and a food runner felt the need to put their hand in between our bodies and tell my wife where she needed to wait for me. not right outside the door. she pointed for her to stand by the exit of the establishment. I said excuse me? what is the problem she s with me? thinking maybe she thought that person was a stranger.. and she said it s because we ve had couples trash the bathroom before what an insane thing to insinuate. I saw no sign that said only ONE person was aloud in at a time (duh what if we had kids?) This rule was made on the spot just for us. we were in LB for the wnba game the night before celebrating my wifes birthday. We just needed breakfast and a spot to pee before starting the drive home. we don t need your dirty (already trashed) bathroom for a quickie. We left feeling offended and disgusted. We love the breakfast republics in San Diego and have never had this problem in the 3 years we ve been visiting together so just avoid this location. all love for my lgbtq fam

Came here and had the absolute worst service. Waited over an hour just to be seated, and not only was the food cold, but gross too. I understand preference, but this was not it. Then to make matters even worse, our waitress was horrible. I ve never experienced such horrible customer service as I did here. Not only was she rude and condescending, given it was my first time there, she actually bumped me and gave absolutely no apology. I ve never felt so racially profiled in my life. She never introduced herself once (probably because she knows she s absolutely atrocious at her job and doesn t wanna be reprimanded) after all, can any action be taken if their name wasn t given? Imagine being so miserable that you ruin the experience for your customers. Pathetic little waitress, with her pathetic little miserable self. I wouldn t recommend coming here simply and solely for the service. Any other place but this one, take caution folks!!! Definitely never coming back here!!

I would go back just for the Brussel sprout potatoes. They are SO good. The bemedict looked great but was unfortunately cold so I had to send it back. By the time I got a new one and my husband was almost done with his breakfast, which was a bummer. Otherwise it was good, though it is a bit pricy.

Came across there page on Instagram and thought there plates look delicious. Not only was the food far from that, (white owners trying to recreate Mexican food, tasted like canned food) the customer service was horrible will not ever come here again. The food was also cold, imaigine eating cold steak :( .When we got there first we left a phone number and were told we would get a message after waiting for 50 minutes (of a 30-35 minutes wait time) we decided to go check and the lady in the front said we were next there were people who came in after us and got seated before us. Finally got sat and not sure of the name of our waitress because she didn t once introduce herself but she was the rudest person I have ever came across. While trying to get into my seat she pushes me with one of the plates she brought for the table next to us not once did she apologize, still keeping an open mind we order and she very sarcastic when she ask how we would like our steak or eggs this is our first time here so we aren t sure exactly the proper way of ordering. Well done eggs is the same as over hard I m also a waitress as well and know what people mean when they say that, she was very condescending with her reply s. Our food was brought out before we every received utensils. We had to flag her down for straws and utensils. I would not ever recommend this place.

I m giving Breakfast Republic 1 star, and I d like to warn potential customers about the petty and unsanitary behavior of their staff. Today my girlfriend and I visited BR to grab food. While eating a yogurt bowl I bit into a piece of plastic. I notified my waitress who notified her manager, and I was given a replacement yogurt bowl to go. When I started eating the yogurt bowl at home I discovered that the plastic seal of a yogurt container was hidden in the yogurt bowl. It s pretty disturbing and disgusting that a food establishment would employ staff as immature, unprofessional, and unsanitary as whoever was responsible for contaminating the food of one of their patrons with the plastic seal of a yogurt wrapper. It goes without saying that I will never frequent Breakfast Republic again, and I d warn anybody simply looking to enjoy a meal to reconsider going as well. As many pervious reviews have mentioned the food is just ok and may contain hidden surprises.

We were seated quickly as it was a Friday morning. A few clueless customers decided to seat themselves, which threw a small wrench into the wait staff works. After about 5 minutes our orders were taken. It took a while for the food to come out. The steak and eggs were one order. Unfortunately, the steak was cold by the time it came out and unseasoned. The hash browns with bacon were also underseasoned despite having bacon in it. The other order was for the crab and crawfish benedict. The crab and crawfish cake was salty and could not be tempered by the roast potatoes (which were also unseasoned when tasted by themselves). Unfortunately, the hollandaise sauce was also not balanced. It verged on having too much lemon juice. When looking over the menu, I was hoping to come back to try other items on the menu. I am having second thoughts. Sigh!

We live nearby so were excited to see they have several vegan options. But we were disappointed to see our portions were smaller than the regular versions despite being charged more. Also the special vegan pancakes were very mushy. I noticed the regular pancakes looked nice and fluffy. Another sign of vegans getting second class treatment were the smaller plates. The regular items were served on huge platters. Also service was lacking. If one of us asks for more water you should really see if the others at the table also want more water. Were probably heading back to Wild Chive for amazing vegan breakfasts without the second class treatment and upcharges.

This review is actually on behalf of my family since I was the one who recommended this place. A group of 5 women, service was chaotic, I received the same treatment but I understand since its busy, coffee was bad (also experienced that) but the food was great. Now here comes the pathetic part. Once they were given their food, the server never came back to the table, instead the female MANAGER stomps over with the check and yells out their total loud for the entire restaurant to hear which is so bizzare and unprofessional. They pay with cash, the bill was 140, they paid 150 and wanted to give the server her tip in hand but the server never came back and the manager never came back with the change, instead she tells them BYE. When they asked for their change so that they can give the server the proper tip, the MANAGER got an attitude and said: well I figured thats all you guys were leaving for her . Listen to your customers , you need to change the manager and quick, a group of other patrons around them said they wouldnt be returning either since that treatment was so unnecessary and rude. Ive now avoided telling people about this place and havent returned, when people ask me about it, I tell them this scenario and they all say they wont go if they are going to be treated that way. CHANGE THE MANAGER, if shes too overwhelmed and dont like the job, simply get another job.

We were a party of 5 about two months ago and every time I drive by I remember the bad experience we had. We waited 1 hour to be seated, the hostess was rude, she never acknowledged us or told us how much longer itd be, I thought theyd at least offer us some coffee or more chairs while we waited. She seemed annoyed when my wife approached to ask how much longer itd be as we noticed a table was open for a while and all she said was that table was for 4 (even though it was the same size they placed us 5 15 minutes after). When we finally sat the table was sticky and it reeked like egg, we tried to clean it again with extra napkins but the smell never left. My black coffee cup once the waitress brought me black coffee for which I had waited over 10 minutes had been over filled and the cup was all smeared by the spilled coffee, she realized it was too hot before she handed it to me so she proceeded do make a new batch not without spilling some more. The waitress made up for the dude hostess but nothing made up for my impression of bad hygiene given the smell and the fact they kept cleaning tables with the same gross egg smelly rags, even seeing them bottle some more ketchup gave me the sensation that could be handled better than what we noticed. The person bottling the ketchup was wiping the rim of the bottles with the same rag than they were cleaning everything else before placing the cap on the bottle. The food tasted good and the portions were great. Hopefully inside the kitchen the hygiene is much better than in the dining area.

We sat down at 1145 and at 1245 they were still barely starting to cook our food, multiple people who got there after us got their food way before us, we would order drinks and kept having to remind the manager who was our server to bring them after waiting, and even then she would still forget, we ended up having to cancel our food instead of having to wait another 20-30 minutes and instead of apologizing or hooking us up she gave us sick attitude and she was the MANAGER! Food is good service that day was HORRIBLE! Victoria was the manager

Food was great, but our server was slow although we never saw her serving and would come from some back area to serve. Im rating this place ONE STAR because there is a 4% surcharge. Now, I understand this is common practice in European countries. However, HERE, in the UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, a business owner can deduct business rent AND costs from any income SO what happens in Europe does NOT APPLY here because of the ability to deduct from taxes so the surcharge is nothing but BALONEY or reflects the incompetence of baking in costs into the meals.

I had an unfortunate experience during my visit to the Long Beach location, which is unusual for me as I frequent the San Diego branch. From the very beginning, our server seemed inattentive. Our order was incorrect, and despite ordering a complete pancake flight and specifying our preferences, it was never entered into the system, even though the server had her computer in hand. Unfortunately, we were not checked on after our food was delivered, and this level of service was truly disappointing. What puzzled me even more was that the server seemed more attentive to other tables. To make matters worse, the service lacked a sincere apology at the end. I typically refrain from leaving negative reviews, but in this case, I felt it was necessary to share my experience.

The peanut butter & banana French toast, s mores French toast, and regular French toast were ASTONISHINGLY DELICIOUS!!! I thoroughly enjoyed myself and would suggest and dine again!

So the Breakfast Republic restaurant is so popular that you have to make it there early and put your name in. They do not take reservations. You will find the establishment usually full all the time. They offer you generous portions of food so make sure that you are hungry. we have had good experiences eating here and have been very happy with the food taste and quality. Fun atmosphere and tasty cocktails.

Servers did not listen to customer orders. I wanted crispy bacon and just got chewy. Another patron got spicy, not what she wanted. Also, didnt like the bloody Mary or the ketchup, both house specials. The jam, also a house special, was so runny I couldnt it dripped off my knife. Overpriced. Wheelchair accessibility: Good.

Its better than expected. Service was slow, but it was due to the volume of customers. Come early. Ill be back as there are many things on the menu I am dying to try.

Portion was so small, I complained. They brought out a 2nd serving on the house. Much appreciated. Server was great, but took a long time to collect our check when we were anxious to leave. Long line for restroom. There is a 4% supplemental fee on the check. They said it was to mitigate cost fluctuations. Last time I checked, eggs are back to normal pricing. Its a hidden fee. We only learned about it when we got the check. Beware. I wont go back on principle.

Happened upon this after my nail appointment. They have a cool menu, and I love me some breakfast. Had the Adaptogenic Shot (is that what we are doing these days in 2023? Lol), and it was really good and refreshing. Had the shrimp and grits... And as a self proclaimed connoisseur of this southern staple, I was hesitant because most places dont give it the respect that it deserves. The shrimp and grits were not what I expected, but then if you actually read the menu... They were. Honestly, these shrimp and grits had a lot of flavor. They werent like any I have ever had but thats not a bad thing. They had some some heat to them so let the server know if you want less hot sauce. It had actual corn in it, which wasnt bad. I had my eggs soft scrambled which helped drown out some of the heat. Now, its not toooo hot, I just dont eat my shrimp and grits with that much heat normally. I also have a sensitive stomach at the moment so I honestly wasnt prepared, so I figured I would share that warning. Ill be back to try more of their menu! Love new breakfast spots here in Long Beach!

My first time at this restaurant. We ordered Traditional Eggs Benedict. They were delicious served with potatoes. I had Apple Juice and it was delicious also. Great service and friendly staff. Maria Hanson Vegetarian options: Their menu is quite extensive and includes Vegetarian options. Parking: Limited free parking. There is plenty of pay parking at the city lots across the street. Kid-friendliness: I saw many families with children who seemed pleased at the service.

Poor service. I was the only person at the bar and then 2 other couple sat down. Server took their orders before my order. Server clearly saw me sit down at bar and ignored me.

Food was excellent 4 stars for 2 specific reasons. We drink tea at breakfast and they were out of black tea. The ketchup available has worcesterchire sauce that my vegetarian husband cant eat. The food was good enough that I would consider bringing my own teabag and ketchup packs with me next time! Seriously the food is REALLY good

Waiting 60 minutes for a table for subpar food while having condescending workers snicker and laugh (@ Cynthia especially) while doing absolutely nothing to make your experience better helps make the decision to never come back to this location

Finally an actual breakfast spot in the shore, too bad the food and overall service is just barely above average. Coffee was terrible, not sure why but everyone in our party had the same consensus. The hot cakes were very dry, and we had to ask for things like silverware and water more than a few times. Ambience is cheery, but the place gets super loud, more like a bar so if youre looking for a cozy relaxing breakfast, try elsewhere like seal beach. Too bad, caz its one of the only breakfast spots on the street, but kind of disappointing.

Recently had the pleasure of eating at the new Breakfast Republic in Long Beach. The food was absolutely delicious and the staff was very attentive and amazing. The decor in the place looked awesome and had a really cool vibe as well. We tried the steak and eggs and pancake flight and not only was it cooked to perfection, it tasted amazing as well. Cant wait to visit again!

We waited at the host stand, after being given a menu to review for 20 mins or so, whilst the host walked away. A waitress walked up to us and sat us down finally. After sitting for 10 mins, she came back over and said we had to move because she didn t realize there was a wait - although there was no one else waiting and plenty of open tables. We left. Despicable! Dietary restrictions: Gluten free

I live just a couple blocks from this location, so Id been very excited waiting for the opening. Id heard good things about Breakfast Republic from friends that had tried it in the San Diego area, so my expectations were high. I ordered the Steak /n Eggs with cinnamon roll pancake upgrade. Best pancake Ive ever had! Eggs and steak were cooked perfectly. I also ordered the Bloody Mary, and it was excellent. After having it, I noticed they also sell their mix in the back of the store. Even though I was there in the first week of operation, the wait staff seemed knowledgeable and friendly, and didnt encounter so much as a hiccup in service. Overall it was a great experience, and theyre an excellent fit for 2nd Street.
