Michael's on Naples is an award-winning Italian restaurant on Naples Island, Long Beach. Our uncompromising approach and relentless focus on quality have gained us a devoted following, not to mention a handful of top Zagat ratings and other accolades.
I recently dined at Michael’s on Naples and had an unforgettable experience. The customer service was truly top-notch. everyone was attentive and went above and beyond, not only with usual services but also by helping with my newborn and stroller needs, making the dining experience even smoother.
The highlight of the meal was undoubtedly the food. The lasagna was exceptional, perfectly layered, rich in flavor, and cooked to perfection. Every bite was a delight! I also tried their pistachio pizza, and it was a revelation. The combination of flavors was unique and delicious, with a perfect balance of savory and nutty.
From start to finish, everything exceeded my expectations. I highly recommend Michael’s on Naples to anyone looking for fantastic Italian cuisine and outstanding service. I’ll definitely be back!

Local gem without the hassle of leaving Long Beach. Right on Naples Island, steps from the beautiful canals is the wonderful upscale Italian restaurant. We sat on the roof which was shaded nicely and open/airy. The service was very attentive and professional. We had three courses and split each dash. House-made burrata was amazing. Wonder zucchini blossoms, crispy and hot. The homemade pasta was light, delicate, and had been cooked to the right doneness. The Branzino was artfully deboned and beautifully presented while being perfectly seasoned.

My evening at Michael's on Naples was an unforgettable five-star dining experience that surpassed all expectations. From the moment we arrived, the atmosphere exuded elegance and warmth, setting the stage for a perfect father-daughter date. With a reservation in hand, we were promptly seated, and the convenience of valet parking for just seven dollars made our arrival seamless.
Entering the restaurant, we were greeted by a sophisticated ambiance that perfectly balanced classiness with a welcoming atmosphere. The attention to detail in the décor and layout enhanced the dining experience, making us feel like honored guests from the start.
Though we opted out of cocktails, the tempting array of libations hinted at the skilled craftsmanship of the bartenders. Instead, my daughter and I indulged in Stillwater and sparkling water, respectively, both impeccably served and ensuring our glasses were never empty throughout the evening.
Our server, Bleue, deserves special commendation for her exceptional service. With a warm smile and extensive knowledge of the menu, she guided us through our culinary journey with grace and attentiveness, enhancing our overall experience.
Now, let's talk about the star of the show - the food. Executive Chef Eric Samaniego's culinary prowess was evident in every dish we savored. The Pólipo, featuring Grilled octopus, fingerling potatoes, spring onions, and hazelnut chili crunch, was a symphony of flavors and textures that delighted our palates.
Next, we indulged in the Gnocchi, delicate potato dumplings paired with braised short rib and taleggio cheese gnocchi, atop a bed of polenta. Each bite was a revelation, showcasing Chef Samaniego's mastery of Italian cuisine.
And finally, the pièce de résistance - the Grilled prime 32 oz bone-in ribeye steak, drizzled with Tuscan olive oil and rosemary. Cooked to perfection, each bite melted in our mouths, leaving us craving more.
To end our culinary journey on a sweet note, my daughter opted for gelato, while I indulged in the Torta della Nonna. Both desserts were exquisite, providing a perfect conclusion to an exceptional meal.
In summary, our experience at Michael's on Naples was nothing short of extraordinary. From the impeccable service to the sensational cuisine, every aspect of our evening was meticulously crafted to perfection. I wholeheartedly recommend Michael's on Naples to anyone seeking an unparalleled dining experience in Long Beach.

Every time i eat at this place is an experience! I love the menu. The lasagna is excellent. It has that crispy edge that i like, and the tomato flavors just explode with freshness. Try the scallops, too. I also enjoy the ambiance.

Great service, five star all the way!

Very interesting place. Its got a intimate lower floor and a exciting bar open air design up top. Filled with the well heeled and beautiful. It's a very nice "right choice" to make. Its going to hold your wallet so know what your coming for. However the dishes are pleasantly and surprisingly good and offer unique touches that set this apart from a more traditional Italian place. Wait staff was on point and ready at the drop to serve you well. I suggest reservations. An interesting observation is the two different "looks" so choose wisely because its a different party.

We are happy to have this restaurant here on Naples Island. The menu is a myriad of Italian deliciousness. The orecchiette e salsiccia & Branzino are my favorites. Great Italian wine selection - Brunellos! Love the upstairs bar with its friendly atmosphere. A definite must dinner destination. Staff is awesome! Fine dining at its best. Hope to see you here!

I went here for dinner for a Farm to Table tasting menu that happens on Wednesdays. We sat on the second floor outside on the patio area. It was $45 per person, and if you wanted to partake in a wine pairing, it would be $75 per person. We had the Stuzzichino, which was crispy potatoes with creme fraiche and caviar. Next, we had the Crudo, which was Japanese Hamachi. For our main course, we had the Gnocchi. The sauce that was paired with this dish was light and enjoyable. We really enjoyed the vegetables with it, as well. Last, we had the Crostata di Rabarbaro, which was a rhubarb tart. Everything was delicious, but I didnt care too much for the dessert. For drinks, we had 3 mocktails and 1 cocktail. Our servers name was John, and he was a delight. Theres free parking in front of the restaurant. Although give yourself ample time before your resy, sometimes all the spots are taken on busy days.

It is not often that a restaurant makes me feel the urge to go spread the good news on the internet, but good grace. Could not resist getting the 5 course Pasta Tasting with the expertly curated wine pairing. I really wish I had an easier time deciding where to start on the menu. Amazing and very knowledge staff all around. Will be back.

Absolutely great athmosphere, good service, the plating is top tier and the restaurant is lovely. On the surface its very pretty. However I have never had such awful bland and oversalted food in my life. Im not even exaggerating, we had the course meal for 85$ or so and I was shocked how bad the food was. The ingredients are great quality, the plating exceptional. But the chef hasnt tasted his food in ages because there wasnt a single ounce of flavor. Caviar on their cracker was stale and tasted of nothing. Scallop dish was so oversalted it made me gag, and zero flavor profile, literally just scallop olive oil and SALT. It was vile. Such a waste, the scallops were so tender and fresh. Risotto was so bland it needed salt, it was just rice and shrimp, put some parmesan or something please, it was good quality food with no flavor. The main course ribeye was nicely cooked, and the grits had a nice cheese flavor, but every so often you would get a bitter bite of salt. The dessert was so sour it made me pucker, absolutely zero balance. Shockingly bad. I didnt complain and didnt send anything back, Ive never sent food back, but definitely rethinking that now...

Awful! The food is horrible. Terribly soggy pizza with a weird fishy taste (there was no seafood on the pizza) to start. Then a lasagna that was basically slop on a plate that kept my insides churning all night long. I will never eat here again.

Ive never really had super high end food before coming here, and I have to say it blew me away. I generally dont like cooked tomatoes, but the way they were prepared in the pasta dish I had was absolutely phenomenal. They had a little deal going on when we went, and it made it pretty reasonable, considering the quality, something like $40 a person for 3 courses. Still one of the best meals Ive had at a restaurant.
Published at a year ago
The atmosphere was great as the restaurant felt high-end but accessible and the retractable roof was nice for having the fresh beach air without having to sit on the uncovered patio and risk getting too cold. The staff was super friendly and attentive. They initially brought us the wrong pizza but immediately realized the mistake and brought us out the correct one. There were no other issues aside from that. The food was pretty good but not amazing. The risotto was okay, though it was the first time my wife or I had risotto so that should be taken into account. The Chefs Pizza was better than the risotto but the toppings did have a habit of sliding off. However, the taste was excellent. The drinks we had were pretty standard cocktail affair but still good. The price was pretty standard for a higher-end place like this and we didnt feel like it was too crazy. While it is not a restaurant we would go to all the time, it is a very nice date night spot to have some good Italian food with an upscale atmosphere. Recommended for couples looking for a little romantic spot or for special occasions such as birthdays or anniversaries. Parking: Since this is on 2nd Street parking can be a bit of a hassle. We parked in the lot a couple businesses down but did see a sign as we were leaving that we were not supposed to, so it was a good thing that we did not get ticketed. They do offer valet but, as we did not go with that option, I am unsure of the price.

We discovered this place by mistake. We were supposed to go another Italian place for my birthday but there was a mix up and we ended up having reservations at Michaels instead. This was the best mistake ever!! I love the food here. It is definitely pricey and therefore we save this restaurant for special occasions. I am vegetarian and they will always create a new appetizer for us to try. For dinner I always get the mushroom risotto. It is so good its one of the few times I refuse to share with others. The risotto is something that isnt on the menu but was made for us the first time I went. The chef has always been kind enough to make it for me every time I have gone back. For dessert weve tried the almond cake and it defiantly melts in your mouth. Service and great and very friendly! Instagram Handle: @TheShahLALand

We had a snafoo with our reservation where 7 people showed up to a reservation of 5. The restaurant was able to make accommodations for us and took our drink order while we waited. We ordered a number of different pasta dishes and every one that I tried had a great combination of ingredients resulting in a lot of tasty bites! I only had one cocktail but it was delicious. One of our party has their birthday that night and they accommodated our custom candles to place in the desert before serving it. The prices of both the food and drinks we ordered were worth the price. The server at the end was able to close us out with a unique separation of the bill flawlessly and quickly. The service throughout was both timely and friendly. Parking: Im not sure if there is a parking lot dedicated to this and neighboring restaurants but we saw parking across the street on the little islanded road (parallel parking). Wheelchair accessibility: Wheelchair accessible.

Horrible time management. I went with a dinner party tonight and our first course didnt come out till an hour after we ordered. Around 8 I checked with a very sweet hostess if it would be possible to take my food to go because I had to leave by 8:30. I then followed up with a server who said she would check and another server came to talk with me. She asked when I had to go and at 8:15 I said 15-20 minutes. She said okay and that she would help me box it. At 8:40 (25 minutes later) I checked with the initial server who said maybe 5 more minutes. Then ten minutes later, panicky I check with the second server who said she doesnt know how long because she cannot ask when a dish will be ready and that it looks like the main course is coming out. I asked for a container which she brought me but was worried because I live 30 minutes away and was planning to leave at 8:30 to get home to nurse my baby to sleep (the only way she gets to sleep) and now it was nearing the time I should have been home (this is one of the reasons I never go out for dinner in the first place). So I nervously wait a little longer and give up at 9 to leave, without my main course, because no one could tell me when it would be out. I understand food takes time but I would have appreciated if they didnt give me false hope that it was going to be ready 30 minutes prior. So Im was a half hour late for my baby and with no food. Worst night out. So disappointed. *edit to add: I never write reviews but was very disappointed with the scenario and I say that as someone who worked in the restaurant industry for years, including large banquet parties. I cant even count how many times Ive asked chefs for estimated food times for guests, so not sure why this wasnt possible at this restaurant.

A pleasant surprise. Found it online. Took our daughter here to celebrate her birthday. It was a Sunday, early evening, so pretty low key. But the service and food were fantastic! We had the mixed meat appetizer and three different pasta dishes. Each were amazing. The food is on par with any fine dining place, but the vibe is a little more beach casual (which is right up our alley). We had an exquisite meal while the SNF game was on one TV and the wildcard baseball playoff was on another. Never a distraction, but rather another little bonus. Vegetarian options: The gnocchi (with mushrooms, not short rib) and risotto fit the veggie option. I saw they had an eggplant dish and several salads. Parking: We got lucky - in front, on the street. Looks like it could be a bear if it was busy. Wheelchair accessibility: I dont think you can make it to the room. Im pretty sure the reservation makes you aware of that.

Beautiful restaurant, with a lovely rooftop. Neat and clean. We decided to try the pasta tasting that comes with five courses and dessert, the portion of each course is small, only the last two are a little more generous. This is not a traditional Italian restaurant they serve more like exotic plates, but I do like it, very tasty.

Mixed reviews this evening, but overall it was still wonderful. We ordered the pasta tasting and the chef s tasting with wine. I can easily say the chef s tasting won the evening hands down. Everything was amazing. The pasta however was not met with favor. The ladies hated every item on the pasta tasting, but the men loved everything on the chef s tasting and of course we shared. The staff did what they could and we appreciate them. Still one of my favorite Italian spots in SoCal.

Service was fantastic. 5 stars in regards to that. As for the food, I just wasnt impressed. The portions are rather small for the price. I got the steak and potatoes, and the steak was really dry, both potatoes and steak were cold when served to me. The potatoes may not have been properly washed because some tasted like actual dirt. I added a half lobster tail and that was really good. I had the salad with the red wine vineggrette and I just wish there was more to it. Overall it was a nice night out but I was certainly not impressed by the food. Wouldnt do it again.

Well... out of 3 pizza, one was edible, the rest not so much.. dough as hard as cardboard. Overloaded... the over one we ate because we were starving. Do mess up pizza that bad one simple does not care. What a shame. Read the reviews.. many echo what I am saying. Clearly the place has gone downhill and quality and craft is no longer a focus. The best lasagna ever and incredible service.

Phenomenal octopus and service. I highly recommend coming back here and plan to do so myself for the tasting menu. Salad selection was well done albeit a scooch lacking. Gnocchi was phenomenal

Fantastic food and wine paired beautifully with attentive and friendly service. The giant ravioli special was nothing short of amazing. It featured an interesting combination of cheese and egg inside, along with wild black trumpet mushrooms. The Spigola - pan seared white sea bass over venere rice was both visually and flavorfully stunning. What an incredible meal!

Went there for dinner this evening and was disappointed by many things. The only aspect of the restaurant I have no complaints about is our server Bleue, who was amazing but just extremely busy taking care of so many tables. Noise on the second floor: The outdoor rooftop that I had specifically reserved because of COVID concerns was not actually a rooftop but rather the second floor of the restaurant where the bar was, so still indoors. There was in fact an outdoor area that was connected to this second floor, which makes me believe that somehow we did not get the seating that we reserved for. This second floor was absolutely terrible because it was impossible to hear anything over the loud music and rowdy people at the bar. Its NFL night, I get it. However, I feel like the dining place should have been a lot quieter than it was. They played such loud music and everyone was basically shouting to be heard. Coming down from the second floor after we were done, we saw that the first floor was basically empty and so much quieter. Maybe it would have been better if we had chosen to dine indoors in the first place. Food and price: We had the chefs tasting menu that cost 85 dollars per person without wine pairing. Even before we ordered anything our server let us know that they had a small kitchen today and that food may be delayed. We decided to go with it, not knowing that for six dishes, it would take us over 2.5 hours to finish, most of that time being us just waiting for our food. Honestly the food I think was overpriced, based on how much we had to wait for the food just to get lukewarm pasta and steak. For the caviar pasta I could not really taste the caviar. The antelope loin(?) was cold when we got it, and I personally dont see how the salsify added anything to the dish. The cocktails were great though! Overall: I was really disappointed at todays experience because many reviews on Google said that this was a great place. I would not recommend this place if you are looking for somewhere quiet and peaceful to dine and actually be able to have an audible conversation with your party. And just fyi, they do not check for vaccine proof--do what you will with this information.

Very enjoyable experience. It was a little chilly even with a heater and they were very accommodating to change our seating. The zucca appetizer is exceptional.

The food was delicious. We had two different kinds of homemade pasta as well as their Barada and they were all outstanding. Without question, the best Italian food we ve had in Long Beach and that includes several other restaurants that are supposedly higher rated and considerably more expensive. Finally, their bread is to die for.

Absolutely one of my favorite pizza spots of all time. Each one comes fresh out of their oven right to your plate. They only use fresh ingredients and you can tell with each bite. The staff here is amazing, especially Ben who always ensures that we have a good time. There are many different types of pizza that you could add on to for your own unique taste. This is one pizza spot that Ill keep coming back to!

This restaurant is to me is the best that Long Beach has to offer. The food is amazingly prepared giving you incredible Italian crusine. The staff is extremely knowledgeable of their food, wine, and spirits. The atmosphere is pleasant and friendly. Check out the second floor with the open ceiling and amazing bar. Michaels does it right with presentation, taste, and class. A dining experience truly not to miss.

The food was delicious, service was good however our waiter seemed a bit stand-offish at first only to warm up later. The biggest issue I had was that practically no staff wore a mask even though they advertise that they do, so if you dont care about that, then Id recommend it for the food and atmosphere. The owner himself came to our table and introduced himself and thanked us for our business...sans mask.

This restaurant is one of my favorites; moved my favorite eateries from Beverly Hills to Long Beach when fine dining was first fashionable (mid 80s.) Michaels house made pasta; to die for. Fresh vegetables, probably because of L.B.s weekend Farmers Market held in the marina parking lot; a hop, skip & jump away. (Very near the restaurant.) I can see the Chef with the sou chef, making his selections of just delivered farm products. My eatery route back than (80s) Beverly Hills, Santa Monica, Pasadena. Thank you, L.B. for bringing it!

I was invited here for a family event and we had a delicious dinner! My favorite parts of the meal were the shirley temple, the steak, and the almond cake that finished off the meal. The staff were very accommodating and attentive, would love to come here again!

I love the rooftop here, we used to go for happy hour before the pandemic. I am not sure if they still have the same deals anymore. This was our first time in since covid, the food is delicious! We shared a flatbread, split a pasta dish, each got a glass of wine, and split dessert for around $110 after tip.

First time. I truly enjoyed all the courses...the salad, main dish & the dessert was simply delicious. Our server Blu was excellent & made you want to try what she suggested based on her knowledge of the menu & how she described it. You could taste the freshness which I loved. Loved the Moscato wine as well!

Heard great things about Michaels and needed a place to meet a visiting friend for dinner...cute place, parking could be a challenge (there is a small lot next door)...my dinner (whole branzino) was ok but I do recommend the Italian donuts for dessert! They were awesome!

Went in to order lasagna, what the menu labels as paccheri con aragosta, meatballs an old fashioned with a kids pizza next door. Was told the online menu was wrong its another pasta one I dont care for, cool just change the pasta, only I wasnt able to hear the other pasta options as they didnt know them. So instead of asking the kitchen I just got a look of well what now? so I just left.

Good food, but dont go if youre hungry! Portions were small, also waited an hour and five minutes for my brunch. The table next to ours ordered the same exact thing 30 minutes after we ordered and guess who got their food first? Not me! Waiter seemed not to care when I pointed that out, so we tipped nicely and wont go back.

This eggs Benedict is quiet nice but the toast is a bit hard. My friends risotto was alright, she just thought it was slightly under salt but after our server brought salt to the table, it made the risotto more enjoyable. Be careful with your poached eggs because it may or may not come out poached. But they re always willing to replace it with another poached egg. The manager did come and check our heater to see if it was warm enough since it was very windy. It s a nice atmosphere to be there. Looking forward to enjoying it more once we re free from so many restrictions.
