I visited this place based on a recommendation and absolutely loved everything about it. It’s a charming little spot with a warm, friendly atmosphere. I had a solo dinner on the patio, which was beautifully decorated with flowers on the walls. I ordered rice with berries, organic chicken, and a Mediterranean salad, and everything was delicious. Chris, who served me, was incredibly friendly and provided excellent service. All the staff, including Chris and Ronny, were welcoming and made the experience even more enjoyable.

The cafe is uniquely situated near the beach. I ordered the combo with two skewers of kabob (saffron chicken and lamb) served with basmati rice and salad. I have always seen this establishment on my way to the Veterans Memorial Pier, and I gave it a try. I ordered “to go” sandwiches (pita wraps) and told them that i would pick up my order in 30 minutes. How sweet of them that they calculated what time I would pick up my order and grilled chicken so that I could enjoy fresh food! I ordered falafel and chicken sandwiches. My friend who is kinda picky eater (she admits) loved the chicken pita sandwich. I liked mine as well. As I was waiting for my order, I looked around the establishment and was surprised to see that there is a huge patio! I would definitely come back to actually dine in next time.

I’ve always wanted to go here and I’m so glad we finally. We had a great experience! We went here for an early valentines dinner and sat on the patio. The food and service were fantastic. The berry hummusu was so so good. Really looking forward to going back and trying more things on the menu.

Kalamata olives were not kalamata but regular black olives, the salad was full of vinegar but had no olive oil, falafel mediocre at best, tzatziki sauce does not even close and lamb kebab pita was the worst I have ever eaten - no veggies except for lettuce , almost no sauce inside, not even sure it was lamb meat since it had very little taste. Very sorry to write this, I really liked the people that work here but this meal was a disaster.

It is a small Mediterranean restaurant with a friendly grandmother and good cooking skills. Until they didnt give me change for part of the food bill... You can also park for free in the back, so its great for eating and taking a walk on the beach.!!

I feel so blessed to have found this little gem. As a vegan it is nearly impossible to get quality vegan food for delivery. My favorite vegan pizza went out of business after Covid years, and then the Round Table started to price gauge like crazy and some of the Thai and other restaurants in the area were charing outrageous delivery prices. One pizza place wanted nearly $60 for 1 large pizza. Just insane. So then I was walking by the pier and discovered Gypsys. I decided to call for delivery. The vegetarian plate was AMAZING. So delicious and delivered with ample pita bread and with a smile in under 40 minutes! The food charge was very fair. It left me tonight with such a relaxed happy feel. I will definitely use them for delivery when I have dinner parties or just when Im craving Persian food. By the way Im a concert pianist and played many years ago at the top Persian restaurant in OC.. And I can say Gypsys food was much better. It is so nice to see Mom and Pop restaurants that take pride in their cultural and food and care about their patrons. I highly recommend. Esp. if you are vegetarian/vegan and have trouble finding food for delivery. Thanks again. Vegetarian options: Vegetarian plate was delicious: Eggplant, dolmas, hummus, falafels, and ample pita bread . very good baklava as well.

We arrived on the late side for a Sunday night, but the gracious ladies quickly seated us and brought the menus. We all decided on the kebab plates: 1 chicken, 1 lamb, and 1 salmon! All were cooked to perfection and served quickly. We did decide to add a half order of humus, as well!

Loved the setting and the ambience here. The hidden outdoor patio is really nice. As soon I walked in, I was greeted by friendly staff and the nice lady who owns it. I ended up getting the Kebab combo plate for dinner. The portions were decent and was reasonably priced. The food tasted fresh. They dont have an extensive Persian menu like other restaurants which I believe is due to the limitations of operating in a small space. But tasty food overall and will be returning.

I had forgotten about this place then decided to go for some Mediterranean food and went here instead of Open Sesame. Great intimate date night place, I thought the food was good better even than Open Sesame (where I ate the night before). The hummus was excellent,the dolmas were good, their salad was huge. I didnt care for the eggplant cooked in tomatoes and neither did my friend. The staff was very attentive and accommodating for dietary restrictions. Overall I will definitely be going back. The prices were also good for a date night. They have patio seating in front, inside seating and backyard seating with fairy lighting. The only thing I didnt like was their baklava it was way too dry and bland. Vegetarian options: Yes Wheelchair accessibility: Side walk leads up to wide gate/doorway.

I had regularly eaten at Gypsy 5 years ago while living in Long Beach. Since then I moved about an hour up the coast. Today I remembered how good the hummus and tabouli was and decided to drive the hour to the restaurant. Upon arriving, I walked into the restaurant which was empty. I looked at the two women behind the counter. They didnt acknowledge me so, I said Hello which then they replied hello. I said I hope the food is as good as it was years ago, I havent been back in a while. The woman who eventually took my order said you will have me know. I ordered hummus and tabouli TO GO. I received my order, paid with top an left with my food tied up nice in a plastic bag. After driving north for 15 minutes I found a park with picnic tables and shade trees. Grabbed my To Go bag and book and prepared to satisfy my craving. Upon opening the bag .. the food looked as it should with pita bread in a separate bag. However, a few essential items were amazingly absent .... namely plastic ware and even napkins. You ever try to eat hummus and tabouli without either... just a mess! I decided to pack up and swing by a Wendys I remembered on my way home. While driving I decided to call and comment on my displeasure. The woman who answered the phone must have been the other woman who did not pack my order. After listening to me she told me to Have a Nice Day A few minutes later my phone rang and it was the woman who packed my bag. She didnt apologize, she just stated that after the Pandemic customers have to ask for plastic ware and napkins. Following that logic guess Im lucky I didnt have to ask for the plastic containers they put the food in. They could have just thrown the food into the bag. I said, as I told you I ordered To Go ... did they expect customers to eat with their fingers .. i suggested perhaps THEY should ask if To Gos need plastic ware / napkins! She again began to repeat the Pandemic ..... I stopped her and again said the better policy for their customers would be to ASK .... SHE NEVER APOLOGIZED ...and said Have Nice Day. BTW I went through Wendys Drive Thru ... explained my problem and asked if I could buy some plastic ware ... the attendant said please pull up to the window He gave me a fork, knife and spoon and a stack of napkins. WENDYS UNDERSTANDS AND VALUES THEIR CUSTOMERS! I WONT be going back to Gypsy anytime soon. Food was like I remembered. However, ATTITUDE SUCKED! Hey, Gypsy Mediterranean Grill, Long Beach ....... The worst experience Ive had in years, its not even worth the time to go into detail as I wont give this place another moment of my time. We brought wine for a reasonable corkage fee, unfortunately the server took our bottle away from the table to open it, after 10 minutes (seriously), we asked for our wine back and 2 glasses at the same time. He apologized, and made lite of the fact saying he was hoping wed forget and hed take it home, lol we gave him the benefit of the doubt, unfortunately we had to ask for utensils and napkins twice (seriously) for another 10 minutes, after our appetizers were already served. We were so hungry we started using our fingers and joked about it. Food is just okay and I would not recommend any of the appetizers. At the time dinner was wrapping up for another 20 minutes or so, I decided to go up front and ask /pay for the bill. I dropped off my credit card and gave it specificly to our server, when I returned 5 minutes later to sign the bill he said he was on the phone and would give me a total in a sec, again apologizing. The bill was $69.99 and I left a $5.00 tip. It pains me that people are in need right now and Im always more than happy to give substantial gratuity but I seriously had a hard time giving this gentleman $5.00, only cuz he was standing right in front of me as Im signing the bill. If you are ever planning on taking someone to a new restaurant this is not the place, especially if you are concerned with the person you are dining with.

Small restaurant but so filled with aviance that you feel relax and welcomed. They have a nice, intimate outdoor with plenty of outdoor heaters. As for the food, it was excellent. I had the beef plate which I loved. If you like cranberries and bayberry, you can ask for it and theyll add it on top of your rice. Prices are reasonable too. I hope you go and enjoy as I have!

I went for the first time tonight amidst the current covid mood and I had a wonderful experience. The servers were quick and friend. The cleanliness and social distancing in the patio was quite well and comfortable. A friend who is a frequent customer suggested the Turkish chicken kabobs and I was in love with the cinnamon and spices. The server, whose name I missed was very clear with the menu and suggested trying turkish pickles and wow I loved the option. Thank you! Take out and delivery are options too. 5 stars!

The restaurant is tiny and cozy. The food is spectacularly delicious, and theyve recently began serving beer and wine. The meat is organic. I love everything on the menu! If the weather is good, you can sit on the patio in the back. I stop in here every chance I get. Ive never been disappointed. And the pricing is extremely reasonable. Most meals are under $15.

This was our first experience at this establishment and sorry to say it was disappointing. We ordered take out and picked it up. The Organic chicken kabob was very salty and dry. The rice was dry and low quality basmati rice. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone.

Delicious Turkish and Curry chicken. Serving size of the meat could be a little bigger but its very delicious. The berry hummus is really good, too.

Little discovery near our hotel. Very pleasant, the food is great, the atmosphere is cozy and the staff is very nice. I recommend 100%!

Very good Middle Eastern food, the beef filet was juicy and tender however the chicken was a little dry. The service was good, I recommend this place.

Eat food here. Get a kebab (chicken, beef, lamb, kubideh, whatever you like.) Or the lamb shank. Or split a 2-kebab plate and nivik to share if you want more veggies. Just go. Go. Eat it. Oh--also make sure to get some tabouleh. For multiple people, check out the take out & delivery special for a great value.

Service: Five stars. Food: Three stars The beef kabob was cooked well, and had decent flavor. The dish was limited to a salad, kabob, and rice. The food was tough because Mediterranean food in general is usually good, but differs from one region to another. Istanbul Grill sets the bar (for me) in Southern California. Their rib eye kabob is the best. I bring that up because thats what I compare others to, including Gypsys.

Hit this place right before it closed. Usually I hate doing that, but daddio was hungry. Staff was really cool and the food was good. Hummus and lamb is the move here.
