For the table order the fried okra. Try the Granny Mae cocktail, and make sure you order the brisket, dinosaur beef, rib, the cornbread, allllll of the sides are worth tasting, and the banana pudding had me weak in the knees. I had a great lunch at Bludso s. The staff was amazing and the food came out quickly. Everything was hot when it arrived at the table and everything seriously tasted really good! I was thoroughly surprised! I m a southern girl, from Louisiana and this IS Texas BBQ. Before today, I had only ever had Bludso s to go, and while it was very good, it s even better to go in the restaurant and eat. They also have a happy hour, we got there before happy hour, and we re hearing about it as we were leaving, but that would be a great thing to save a couple of dollars. I will definitely be back for another dinosaur beef rib. That thing was so moist, juicy, tender, and flavorful. I didn t know what to do with myself. I loved all of the sides. The only thing I need for the greens was a touch of hot sauce. Parking was easy we went on a weekday. Y all, I was in hog heaven. Parking: During the week there s enough parking, on the weekends it may be a little hard. But it s all paid meter to parking right outside of the restaurant.

First time here, and there were a lot of mixed reviews. I had placed a phone order, and it was easy. The lady who answered the phone was super nice and was super helpful in trying to figure out the time for pick up so that our order was fresh. We were literally driving in from SF and were just going over the grapevine. Timing is always key, especially when the Dodgers were playing their 2nd game of the World Series later that day in LA. You think traffic is bad, Im sure if it were any later that day it would be bananas. I picked up my order, and it was ready to go. I was in and out within minutes. The lady who took my order ended up being the one who helped me with the pickup. She was super nice, and her and a colleague were telling me how nuts it was the night before when the Dodgers won. The place was already a bit busy, considering they just opened. It looks like people were ready to get situated to hang out for the rest of the day. The place seemed a little dark but had a cool vibe. We ordered a beef rib, and it was ginormous and reasonably priced. We literally ordered some rice and mac salad and got our grub on in the hotel. The beef rib came in a tray, and I was in awe. It was so tender and juicy. It was perfectly seasoned and not super fatty like some places. I now know where to go when Im craving a beef rib.

If you really want a taste of Texas while in LA then this is the place to be. Food is downright amazing, the brisket literally melts in your mouth and that mac and cheese will remind you of your Grandma s cooking! Staff is super polite and my drink didn t even get halfway down without them bringing me another one. If amazing food and real Southern hospitality is what you re looking for then Bludso s BBQ is the best place to find it in Los Angeles. We will be coming back!

So we were in Southern California for my Grandsons birthday, we went to Universal Studios and we got hungry once we were leaving so my daughter brought up getting BBQ and I remembered Bar Rescue and that one of the friends of Jon Taffer has a very well known BBQ restaurant. So I looked it up and off we went once we arrived we had a little bit of a wait which wasnt an issue. So after we got the alert that out table was ready we sat down and started looking at the menu, I explained to my daughter that Mr. Bludso helps the cooks at the bars they rescue and gives them some really tasty food . I knew that my goal was to try his BBQ after watching, our server was freaking awesome (top notch service) was super helpful with assisting us what would be the best items to try that would be suffice for us to share. We decided on the Dinosaur beef rib ( yes you heard that right, we had some serious Flintstones jumping off here ) , brisket, collard greens and you already know Mac n cheese. Well I can honestly whole heartily say... THAT WAS THE BEST DAMN BBQ PERIODT!!! PUT ALL THE BBQ SPOTS OUT IN THE BAY TO SHAME! MEAT SO TENDER IT LITERALLY FELL APART JUST TRYING TO SLICE AND PICK IT UP AND JUST THE JUICIEST And they have a special sauce to put on the greens that the manager ( he was awesome too) had grabbed for us to try, on everything Ill never use hot sauce on my greens again ( Mr. Bludso please bottle & sell that &i mean that on everything please ) it was so good we ordered more greens to take back so we could enjoy that amazing bottle of magic. I am so so happy I remembered his restaurant and so are my daughter and grandson too, it was packed everyone was in good moods enjoying bomb azz BBQ along with watching sports. Perfect way to end a Sunday night. Cant wait to go back again

There isnt any parking from 4-7 on the street so you have to go into the neighborhood around the corner to find parking in the street. The bbq chicken is good...very tender. Didnt care for the potato salad. It was too mushy like mashed potato. The mac n cheese is yummy and the baked beans are delish. The ribs are okay...just not a lot of meat on them. Wish they had combo meat options. Parking: Cant park at the meters from 4-7pm.

having lived in TEXAS 45 years and a huge TEXAS BBQ fan, I give this place a solid 5 out of 10 - let s first start with the prices. The average price for a 1/2 pound of brisket (currently) is $18, market price- This place charges $24 for a half pound of brisket That s a little bit of a markup there. . What would most likely cost about $.50 cents for a cup of deep fried hush puppies they charge $10 for. So if you come hungry, bring a truckload of money with you. My 1/2 pound of BBQ brisket was served borderline cold and the quality was just OK. It was nothing the write home about. The hot BBQ sauce added a nice touch. The atmosphere feels like an actual BBQ joint and I was impressed with the spacious dining room. It wasn t cramped like most LA restaurants. The server tried his best to impress, and I gave him an appropriate tip according to my all-inclusive experience, There were a few minor hiccups with the order, but nothing to cry about. no biggie Would I come back? Yes, maybe so because BBQ places are rare in Hollywood.

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Bludsos BBQ in Los Angeles, and it was an unforgettable experience. The BBQ was absolutely delicious, with generous portions that didn t disappoint. I ordered the Dinosaur Rib and Brisket, and both were incredibly tender and packed with rich, smoky flavor truly a delight for the taste buds. My girlfriend, who typically isn t a fan of BBQ, tried the BBQ Chicken Salad and was surprisingly satisfied. The fresh ingredients and perfectly cooked chicken won her over. Our waiter, James, was awesome! He provided excellent service, making sure everything was just right and adding to the positive vibe of our meal. Additionally, the restaurant was clean, including the bathrooms, which is always a plus. If youre in the mood for top-notch BBQ, I highly recommend Bludsos. I ll definitely be returning for another round!

Ok its not Texas but it is really good bq, before i go further it is imortant to note that is is served family style, they bring out a tray and you help your self to the items you ordered. i had the dinosaur rib, a large beef short rib - fat and meaty and two others helped me eat it. They also had a half chicken which they said was cooked thru but not dried out. We ordered a side of fries - about 3 orders of McDs for reference - cornbread - serves maybe 2, beans - enough for 2 or 3, and sweet tea (really sweet). There were harder drinks but good sweet tea is hard to find. One in our party was from Argentina and they are real meat eaters, he gave the meats a thumbs up and said we will come back

Ive had A LOT of BBQ in my life. I smoke my own meat and know whats good and whats not. This, was really good. The meat was all tender and tasted amazing. We had the fries appetizer, Mac n cheese, chicken, pulled pork, brisket, and the huge beef rib. It was all really really good. The beef rib was probably our least favorite, there was a lot of fat on it. But overall, it was all delicious. So why the 4 stars you may ask? Because it was extremely expensive. $144 for the food I mentioned. Way too much. Like insanely expensive. Would I ever go back? Maybe if it were just me but this was definitely a one time with the family.

Food was meh, everything else was good. Seems that ppl rave about Bludsos but the food was just ok -- everything I had was bland if Im being honest. I had the mac n cheese, greens, chicken, and some of the other meats. Even my beverage, an Arnold Palmer, was made with flavorless unsweetened tea. If you dont season your food while preparing, at least put some salt and pepper shakers, garlic power or some other flavor enhancers on the tables.

Id like to go back and try some of the other menu items (my husband and I both ordered racks of ribs). We dined in and also ordered food to go but when we got home, discovered one of the to-go items was missing. I completed the survey and mentioned the missing item without any expectations since we live so far away from the restaurant (I figured wed just chop it up to happen stance). We didn t dine in we picked up but I have never been so disappointed in a plate of bbq. For the prices I was expecting stellar tasty delectable food but the greens were bland as heck. Just tasted like they had been boiled and nothing else. Mac N Cheese was decent but nothing to write home about. Proteins we had (ribs and pulled pork) were not good. My ribs were tough and I have had way better bbq sauce out of a bottle. If they had been priced appropriately I wouldn t have complained but this stuff was priced like it s top tier and it was far from it!! Extremely disappointed to have paid so much to get so little in return considering the taste.

I seem to be in the minority, but I found this place underwhelming. The photos make it look fantastic, but the taste just doesn t measure up, and the service was subpar. Refills were almost nonexistent, and the mac and cheese had that disappointing floury texture if you know, you know. I was hoping for something reminiscent of Terry Black s in Austin, Texas, but this spot, for the price, is only marginally better than Lucille s or other chain BBQ joints. Given the high expectations, I was left desiring more.

Negative experience. Disappointing meat, 5 counted ribs and 3 slices of brisket, a sort of braised meat, recommended by the waiter. Inconsistent, probably pre-cooked or pre-boiled, for a total of $60. Also a place for families, frequented mainly by locals. Sin!!

It s barbecue and a little expensive for what it is but it s solid. We ordered a half rack of ribs, brisket, hot link, Mac n cheese, beans, a slice of corn bread each, and two Arnold Palmers. The ribs were amazing and I don t even normally like ribs. Brisket for me is just ok, and here it didn t move the MEATer (see what I did) for me but was ok when I got the bark so I really tasted the smoke. The hot link looked dry but wasn t and tasted so good. The mac, beans, and corn bread all hit hard so that part was amazing. The server was on top of our drinks and kept them coming. I d go it again for sure! Ribs 5/5 Hot link 4.5/5 Brisket 3/5 Mac n cheese 4/5 Beans 4/5 Cornbread 5/5 All in all a solid meal even though it s gonna cost you around 40-50 per head so come ready.

This, the place was a disappointment. Was looking for a good bar b que place, and the reviews said it was pretty good. The food was OK. What makes me say it was OK. Is that the prices were overboard for the portions. I ordered a brisket sandwich, which for 17 or 18 dollars was a joke. A kids burger from Wendys was bigger. Then, to be charged, 7.50 for each side was sad. I have had a better coleslaw from KFC. If the portions matched the prices, no problem. But I am saying this is not a place that serves Texas portions... For the outrageous california prices.. 1 sandwich and 2 sides for almost 40 dollars I felt like it was overpriced.

As a big bbq fan who s travelled and tried bbq in many states I was looking forward to trying bbq in CA for the first time and reading the reviews set the bar high. Unfortunately, I was rather disappointed. The brisket was try and overcooked (as you can see from the pictures) and so was the pulled pork. In addition the pork tasted mostly of the rub, so if you re used to Texas bbq where meats are seasoned only with salt and pepper and the flavor is supposed to come from the oak used to smoke the meats you ll be disappointed too. Overall, sadly I must say the food was very average at best and definitely not worh $70 without drinks

First time trying Bludsos since he moved his Compton location! Bludsos BBQ is good; however, his BBQ is pricey. Everything is Ala Cart on their menu. Do you know what that means? $$$$$. I ordered a half pound of ribs (5 bones) $24.00, a quarter pound of brisket (1 slice thin), $12.00 (crazy as hell). One side of Mac & Cheese is $7.50! My bill was $47 and change! So basically, look forward to spending $50 to $70 bucks per person. . Food is food but too dam high! I probably wont go back. Ijs. Try it for yourself.

I ordered a platter that feeds 8, it was delicious, it was a take out order, when you go in person and order the platter to go , they will say it will take at least 20 to 25 minutes, but, trust me, it wont take long, more like 15 , the food is already cooked, but dont worry, its fresh and yummy, they wont say , stand outside, but, a nice way, they say it will take 20 to 25 minutes, thats probably a good idea to say 20 to 25 to avoid over crowds from take out orders, people waiting for go order should just automatically go outside Ill be dining inside next visit.

Ive been here before with a friend of mine and enjoyed it immensely. I took my dad here for lunch, and we were immediately seated but not waited on despite waiting a significant amount of time. Things looked semi busy but nothing inordinate. I made eye contact with what appeared to be the management a few times to see if we could get served, but they decided to keep talking amongst themselves. I am very disappointed in the lack of service this time around.

Bledsos on South La Brea Ave. Great tasting food. I had pulled pork, pork ribs, chicken, and lean brisket along with Maccaroni and cheese and hush puppies. Was given 2 different versions of spicy BBQ sauce. Everything was tender. The sweet tea was not as sweet as I thought it should be. The ribs were only slightly dry but still tasty. It has a sports bar environment with alcohol and 12 screens showing sporting events. I felt the place was WAY too loud. Waiters were nice and friendly. Also must warn that their food prices are VERY expensive. And parking is practically non-existent.

For those that think LA doesnt do BBQ right youre sadly mistaken. This is coming from someone thats had BBQ all across the country. Im from the south. But if you dont believe me Bludsos will make you a believer. Highly recommend the fried okra and chicken. Buf you cant go wrong with the Dino rib or the Brisket. Some sides are not its stong point. The deserts were definitely a highlight.

Horrible Customer Service! We are traveling from out of town and found this place on yelp! Worst stop ever! Didnt realizes it was take-out only. No parking. Then the lady thats standing at the front says she cant take our order.. we have to order at the kiosk right in front of her. Five minutes into us placing order ... which was all sandwiches.... she said oh sorry we cant make you sandwiches after 4pm... seriously ... talk about lazy and bad service. They were not busy at all... we walked out and will never return. Dont waste ur time here!

The BBQ was good, had a nice light smoke flavor, ribs had a nice bite, I think the brisket was just a little too tender no pull to the meat. I had the potatoes salad and baked beans for sides, the flavor is not for me. Just for myself, I spent close to 80.00 for a pound of meat, 2 sides and a beer

This place really hits the mark. Authentic Texas barbecue, no more, no less. We came on a weekend and shared the brisket and pulled pork with both spicy and non-spicy sauces. It was absolutely phenomenal. Alongside that, we shared fries, a small mac & cheese, coleslaw, and one corn bread. Each side was better than the next. The ambiance is lively and bustling; while I don t care for massive TVs everywhere, you don t really notice them once the amazing food is in front of you. The service staff were all friendly, knowledgeable, and approachable. What more can I say I m already looking forward to returning to LA to come here again. Parking: We parked around the corner in a residential area.

Review №146

Let me get this straight.... you dont serve sandwiches on the weekend but I can order pulled pork and the Buns to assemble on myself? Wheres the logic in that? Pulled pork was barely warm when I got it, though still edible and tasty enough. Every tv in the joint had the same soccer game on. 0_o Service was fine, restroom was clean enough. Though I wonder what John Taffer would have to say about the almost cold pork.....

My husband and I have been here a few times and received decent service. However today we were disappointed in the service we received. Although it is a holiday weekend the dine in service was not packed or super busy. Our waiter Beto R. checked on our table once within the hour and fifteen minutes that we were here. We had to frequently flag down the table busser, who provided better service than the waiter, to refill drinks and napkins. When we were ready to leave we had also had to flag down the manager Troy for to go boxes and the check. We let Troy know abt the service we received and he didnt apologize or seemed to care that we were dissatisfied with the service. Were not sure where the disconnect was because we watched our waiter Beto check on his other tables but frequently walked passed ours. We love the food at Bludsos but are very disappointed in the lack luster service and response from management.

This is a store with a local feel. The fold pork is light and not dry, and the brisket is very tender with the right mix of fat and lean meat! If you visit, be sure to try the folded pork and brisket! I also ordered a lip tip and it was just so-so. Other than that, you can choose the meat you like... The server in charge was so friendly that I felt relieved from the tension I had been feeling all day! Ahhh!!! Be sure to order coleslaw!! A fantastic combination!!!

If you love BBQ and super casual meals served family-style, you will probably love it here. Personally, it was not for me. Drinks were alright but there isnt a lot on the menu for health-conscious eating, and the cafeteria-style dining room felt very unrefined. It wasnt for me personally but my friend who I went with loved it, so its a matter of personal preference.

I was disappointed to see at the restaurant the collard greens are made with pork. Make sure next time if you are on tv that what you actually cook and share with viewers that they can actually get what you are advertising. It s misleading to viewers. My brother and I enjoyed the pork ribs very much. Cornbread was really good too. It was all happy and jolly until the next morning. We both got bad food poisoning. Vomit, diarrhea, chills, severe body aches and stomach pain. It got us out for 3 straight days, agonizing in pain. I had to go to an urgent care. My brother had to change his international flight because he was in no condition to be flying over the pacific. I called the restaurant to let them know but the host who answered my call was pretty nonchalant about it. She mentioned they couldn t know if it was from their food. I left my name and phone number in case the manager wanted to talk to me, but haven t heard anything yet. I checked the leftover I stored in the fridge before throwing away. It looked undercooked so I cut them up. They were all severely undercooked. I m pretty sure it was these ribs that gave me the food poisoning.
