Racist Establishment.
I visited this place this morning intrigued by the cute decor and delicious looking pastries. I stood at the counter of pastries and cakes for a few moments and made eye contact with three staff members who didn’t care to greet me or say good morning. As I waited for someone to acknowledge me, I noticed that customers WHO WEREN’T BLACK came in and were greeted and helped- even though I entered the establishment before them. It wasn’t until a group of three customers came in and were greeted and helped that I finally called it what it was… RACISM. As the group of three were being helped. The cashier left the register, came to the display of cakes to show the group of three and pastry and I asked him, why wasn’t he helping me and he threw his hand up as if he were shewing a fly and said “whatever” to me. Thats when I asked him out loud for everyone to hear… “IS IT BECAUSE IM BLACK THAT YOU’RE NOT HELPING ME?” Then and only then, did I FINALLY RECEIVE ANY TYPE OF ACKNOWLEDGEMENT. And I want to thank the man that was in line behind me because he completely validated my experience. He seen how I was ignored and didn’t agree with it. It’s so said that all because of a skin color, I can’t receive the same treatment that white or lighter skin people receive and when I call it out, I’m considered a problem. To make matters worst, the people who enable this type of behavior are even minorities themselves. Disgusting.
Anyone who patronizes this establishment, in my eyes, is also a racist.

Went here with the wife after a doctor's visit.
Ambiance is less than excellent but the place is clean and service was great. We ordered cappuccinos, eggs over easy for the wife and French Toast for me. French Toast is my go-to dish for breakfast at a new restaurant.
The coffees came quickly. They were quite large, which surprised us. However, they were very good with a good amount of foam, but not too much. This gave us high hopes for the food.
The food arrived soon, delivered straight from the kitchen. The wife's eggs were to her liking, the bacon was crisp, the toast was dry and there was a small bowl of chopped fruit, too. The wife was delighted with everything.
I was also delighted with the French Toast. Without fear of contradiction, I can say it was the best French Toast I have ever had. The toast was fluffy and stayed that way for the whole meal. The bread was brioche, I found out later.
The portions were large. I couldn't finish mine, which is really saying something. The wife joined the 'clean plate' club and that is also saying something.
All in all, we were very pleased with our choice for breakfast.
The inside decor is straight from IKEA, but clean and comfortable. The staff was friendly and efficient. The food was worth going back for.
Bottom line: worth a visit. A bit expensive but that just might be the dinosaur in me. It was $40 for the whole shebang and we got to watch the doings on Wilshire Blvd.
Update (13 Feb 2024): Went here again today. Only self-serve now (I guess they have to pay their people more so they eliminated that to save money. ) Order at the counter, about the same price and food quantity. There was a different taste to the French Toast today, not bad, just not as good as before. Wife was pleased with hers.
Still worth a shot.

Incredibly tasty croissants! We stopped here while on our morning walk. We selected a few croissants:almond, chocolate and ham and cheese. Every single Croissant was delicious!
We opted to find a table in the back patio Instead of inside or out front on the sidewalk on Wilshire. Inside the tables are a bit close together.
I saw several folks getting things to go for a large group.
Free parking lot in the back.

Fruit tart was excellent but latte was too large (expect American-style) and milk wasn’t steamed very fine; had to take some points off for service as I asked for dine-in, tipped and ended up with disposable cutlery and drinkware which is awkward and detracted from the experience. Probably best to come here for just the pastries

Very tasty breakfast 😋. The Avocado toast was fresh and well seasoned, would have been great with a poached egg.
The chocolate croissant was nice and flaky.

The place is cute, but it’s not authentically French in the slightest bit. I was really excited about the croque madam, but it was essentially just a grilled cheese with dry ham topped with a soft boiled egg. Very little bechamel, dry bread and dry ham, not well seasoned, overall very underwhelming. The pastries were very sweet and layered with icing. Overall, if you’re looking for a nice cafe, this will do, but it’s not reminiscent of a French patisserie. Also like everywhere else in LA, it was very expensive for what I got.

The first order for my 4 year old son was complete garbage, the ham was rotten. After that I made a second order that was also rotten. I dont understand how a restaurant or cafe that sells food can operate in these conditions. I dont recommend it for anything. I wrote to the local only in order to receive an apology and even so they did not even respond out of politeness

Top notch pastries. Service is very high quality for a counter-service restaurant, staff is very friendly, polite, and goes out of their way. It s clear they care! Good coffee and lovely food too. Try the avocado toast!

We went for a birthday breakfast and it was very good. Some details were missing, such as not bringing a glass for the water that I drank directly from the bottle, or bringing sweeteners for the coffee that was served to me at the table. Small details that make a difference. Very good sweets. Parking: It has parking in the back for a few cars, more or less 6. In front there is coin parking. Kid-friendliness: There were several families having breakfast with children. Bring warm clothes for the children as the air conditioning is strong inside.

Find somewhere else to go. The ambience is sad and the food was pretty bad. The coffee wasn t good either. If you are used to other LA-quality breakfast, then you ll be super disappointed. The breakfast wrap was dry, like a frozen grocery store wrap with the cheapest shredded cheese and a stale tortilla. The avocado toast was in fact guacamole on toast. Staff was nice but just find somewhere else to go.

I think I had high expectations. I *love* French pastries and always grab a tart when the option is available. I went for lunch and had a turkey sandwich and quiche. I also *love* quiche. This quiche was good, my daughter and I sampled both the vegetarian and meat option. The sandwich, not so much. My turkey tasted like it was frozen and defrosted. I ended up removing the turkey. I also ordered a tart, macaroons, and strawberries to go. My tart was honestly the most disappointing part. I was expecting the typical glaze on top but it was like jello. The fruit on my tart was mushy and the apples were shriveling like they were drying out. The tart almost had a cake like consistency with very little pastry cream. Overall, I was disappointed. Im not sure if my expectations were too high or there was something off about my sandwich and tart.

Amandine has the potential to be a great place to enjoy simple, pre-made pastries. Just stroll in for some coffee and a croissant. Its not bad at all. The place has a customer service challenge. I called Amandine today to enquire about their sheet cakes. I had forgotten that it is called Patisserie, but they dont really mean it. I have been a number of times and I always walk out with varying degrees of disappointment, whether it is people taking down my order over the phone and not having a clue about it when I come to pick it up, or simple questions about the pastries. A fellow answered the phone and was puzzled by my sheet cake question, so he passed the phone to a lady who also did not know what a sheet cake is, and then promptly hung up on me. Perhaps they thought I meant something else? I guess if my experiences with this shop were different I wouldnt be writing this review. Really, its a cafe that sells some bakery foods. Its just the customer service is non-existent and that usually comes from the top... Also, if the establishment does not bake (or know of sheet cakes), then perhaps the bold Patisserie is misleading, no?

One of our favorite breakfast spots! They have a large pastry case full of danishes and croissants and more as well as a great menu of items. We love the veggie quiche and it seems that many others do, too, because sometimes they sell out early! My family also really enjoys the dessert case they have available with cheesecakes and tarts. Overall, a huge hidden gem we cannot get enough of!

I just arrived at Amandine at 3:30pm on Monday only to discover that they closed. Website/Google says 5pm. They literally slammed the door on our face! What kind of a bakery closes at 3:30 in the afternoon anyway?! Extremely RUDE not to let on one last customer. We just wanted to buy a couple of take-away slices of torte. I will NOT be returning to Amandine. Also: find some employees who are willing to work past 3:30pm!!

I stopped by Amandine Patisserie Cafe one day and enjoyed the visit. First of all I want to point out that this is definitely not an authentic French bakery so dont expect the croissants to have the delicacy from Paris; However, I do like their wide range of offerings from pastries to cakes, all at very friendly prices. Besides the croissant, which was ok, not bad for the price. I also had a vanilla turnover, and was happily surprised by the banana tart or whatever that is called. It has a balanced, tasty flavor and good mix of textures. Definitely the highlight of my visit. Service was no-frills and fast, there are quite some seatings both inside and outside on the sidewalk.

I keep giving this place chances to redeem itself because I love pastries and because its next to my building, but I think Im finally done with it. Bad service: Apart from the men who hand out the take out orders and drinks, the other employees -specially the ones at the registers (including who I assume are the owners or managers)- are incredibly rude. Its been at least three times now someone at the register ignores me and POINTS (barely axknowledging my presence) to the empty register on the other side, where I have to wait for someone else to get there and also be rude while they take my order. Bad food: The made to order food can only be described as bland and seems made without any interest at all. The house potatoes are the most disappointing thing ever - sliced, boiled, and covered with a cheese spread that barely tastes like anything-, the fresh bakeries taste OLD after noon and the dough seems way too airy to be good croissant dough. This time I had an omelette with black forest ham that tasted like cheap cheap sausage or sliced spam and an invisible bechamel sauce. Even if the food is bad, what truly bothers me is the awful customer service. Ive worked in the service industry and though it is never okay to be rude to customers, how is it possible to be so fed up by 9am that I feel like leaving the second they talk to me? Not going back.

This place is absolutely gorgeous and boasts a variety of classic and floral coffees. I was completely drawn in by the array of cakes ranging from purely chocolate to fruity in the display case and couldnt help myself. Although my intention was to just order an iced lavender latte, I walked out with a slice of tiramisu, gateau chocolat, and tarte chocolat.

I have tried to like this location at least 5 times. First time I stopped by to get a dessert, which was delicious (I m sure the rest of them are delicious as well) Second time I got hot coffee which was sour (it s ok coffee can be sour depending on the roast etc) Third time I got an iced coffee and it was one of the worst coffees in my life ( burnt taste). Never again. Then I came with my friend and ordered latte with rose syrup (and I saw barista did put some syrup in the cup) but there was no rose taste to it. I also ordered a chicken sandwich and it had awful (fridge smell) taste. I couldn t force myself to get a second bite, so that was disappointing. And the last time I came here again with my friend and we ordered cappuccino it was okay, not the best one, but what I hate about it is the temperature it was BOILING HOT. No one wants to wait 20 min for a coffee to cool down. It always takes them forever to make coffee and it doesn t matter if they are busy, or not. Maybe this place just not to my taste. My friend goes there sometimes and if I m ever coming back is to make her a company , not to give this place another chance.

However, when I visited the place was completely swamped with takeout and online orders, causing a huge line and confusion among in-person customers. They either need to up their staffing or change their system for fulfilling app/online orders so that they arent picked up in the most congested part of the room. They also use waaaaay too much plastic in their takeout packaging.

I am unable to comment on the quality of the food here, as I wasnt able to try it. Came in on my way to work and ordered a breakfast sandwich to go. After waiting 25 min, neither myself nor the three people who ordered before me had received any food. The woman who had ordered before me asked the counter staff what was taking so long and was told the kitchen was busy. From where I was waiting, I could see into the kitchen - a couple employees appeared to be working, but others were standing around, talking and on their phones, so Im not sure what exactly they were busy doing. I couldnt wait any longer so I cancelled the order, got a refund and went to work hungry. No apology from the staff. Will not be trying again.

Everything is home made. The tea, the cream on top of the French toast, the macarons, its sweet but not sugary. What a find!

French coffee shop and patisserie in mid-Wilshire but feels like a Paris café! Great selection of yummy pastries, croissants, and coffees.

This place is bigger than it looks from the outside, and there is outdoor seating in the back.

I had the chicken sandwich and there was nothing French about it - when I bit in a whole load of gross liquid came out, covering my plate. The baguette was made totally soggy by said liquid and it was impossible to eat without everything sliding out, everything fell apart and spread everywhere. Its an American style to cram a million things into a sandwich, French style is way more minimal - but regardless no sandwich should have water in. I was left wishing Id gone to Subway.

Some of the best french toast you will have in your LIFE. They use the thick slices of bread and its fantastic. Slightly on the sweeter side so if you dont like that then maybe this isnt the toast for you. The real winner of this place is the whipped cream though. Let me tell you, I have dreams about this stuff. Fresh chantilly cream and it is to die for. Literally I would die for it. Its that good.

Came here with my children. Cake selection by the slice is quite big, I recall counting about a dozen of them. Our three portions were all very tasty, with a good texture and not too sweet. Cakes are the classic ones, chocolate berries, cream, tiramisu, cheesecake and few others. Thats absolutely fine for me sinceI dont like over painted artificially flavoured ones. Prices are fair, considering that everything is made on spot I dont give 5 stars for two reasons. 1. Cappuccino didnt match the level of the cakes, it was way too hot and it was foamy but not creamy. In my opinion a great cake needs to have a great coffee, or the total experience gets halfway only. 2. Service and presentation of the cakes were a bit lame. Nothing wrong, nothing serious, but if you eat in, you would expect a minimum of effort in presentation, not only slam the slice on a plate. Nevertheless, I recommend this place, we left very happy.

I went to culinary school to be a pastry chef, so I am particular when eating pastries, especially laminated doughs. I got a mini croissant, maple pecan danish and a package of madelines. The danish and croissant were the best store bought pastry I have ever spent money on. I was not impressed at all with the madelines. They have a strong lemon flavor. They also did not have that rich buttery taste. I did not even finish my first bite. The rest were tossed out. The four stars are absolutely earned by their laminated dough pastries. Cant wait to go back.

Enjoying lunch and light meal at this Patisserie. Its a clean shop and bright. Like this place as not so crowded as well. I think is good for having breakfast or brunch. I enjoy the croque madam pain de mie and banana chocolate danish. They sell healthy juice as well.
