Starting off with a “heads up” - no cash accepted here. Luckily I had my phone and could pay electronically (I went out for a walk without my full wallet)
I had a lovely weekday breakfast here. I like the back patio, as it’s much less noisy than the sidewalk terrace.
I got a lox bagel- next time I’ll ask that they hold the dill (personal preference). I like the water station, and the choice of glassware for the coffee drinks. Random positive detail: real napkins. Nice touch.
I came by foot, but I imagine that parking might be a challenge.
Additional small details I liked: artwork, friendly counter service.
Things I could do without: the default tip options on the electronic payment system- 18%, 20%, 25%. I know from my own experience as a server that a “tip earner wage” is often low, but for me, a quasi self-service joint is a place for 15% max tip. The server takes ONE trip to drip your food, then one additional to pick up your plate at the end. If I could tip anyone extra it would be the dish washers. (They work really hard/ not sure if they get a slice of the tips…)

I liked the atmosphere, cute patios back and front. Inside was spacious, but it’s really loud. The food was decent. Lavender tea latte I ordered was pretty good as well, but those drink prices on the menu have to be fixed or need more explanation by the cashier when ordering . So Lavender Tea Latte on the menu was $4.75, so you think you need to pay only $4.75 right? but without any explanations, they just charged $5.75 instead of $4.75
Looks like no one complained about it before, but how could I know that there’s different prices if only one price is on the menu.
We didn’t know that there’s different sizes for lattes. We thought they were only one size for every drinks. They should delineate the price on the drink menu at the beginning. If not, it’s like they are hiding the price. The cashier lady at that time did not seem like she really cares. Not even trying to help us. Only she said was , okay so do you want the small size instead? So that’s really disappointing because she could have said to us instead of saying that, the latte on the menu is the small size. Understand that you get confused, I can give you a dollar back for this time, or something!
And I also ordered one fresh squeezed orange juice, it’s $7.67 . It came out really a tiny glass … Overpriced .
The busboys came to clean the table so often, which is good, but while enjoying chatting with friends, so many times they came back to our table and asked us they can clean the table didn’t make us feel comfortable. It feels like they wanted us to leave or something.

Great friendly staff. Plenty of seating.
Had the chiLAquilez. I'm mexican and I can honestly say, there was too much pepper and not enough salt. But the presentation is beautiful non the less. I mean, look at it 😆
I like my chilaquilez savory which was lacking but the spice...woah. nasal pasage clearing so 👌 but i did have to use hella salt to add flavor and combat the black pepper. Instead of the radish maybe jicama would be a better palette cleanser. The dish is already spicy the Rabanos made it even spicier lol. I think if you offered an extra side of the crema and maybe a slice of the queso fresco it would definitely even out the dish. Loved the avocado and the crispness of the chips. The salsa on these is definitely homemade so no, ur not getting a plateful of pato sauce. Would i get it again? Most likely no, but i am looking forward to trying their chorizo bfast burrito next time.
A little pricey but in this economy, indont blame em.
I tried their $7 fresh squeeze orange juice that came in a tiny cup but i will say - that orange must have come from mount olympus because, damn. That was good. I just wish it was maybe 10oz or put over ice with some water.
Friendly and cozy overall which is something i find refreshing in this day and age. Would bring my friends for brunch for sure.

Food is very aesthetic but overpriced.
I enjoyed the zucchini pancakes but the rest of the food was meh. The burrito was pretty, but I was expecting it to be more flavorful for the price.
If you don’t mind waiting for a table, it’s a decent place for food. It’s a really busy location with tables on the sidewalk right next to a busy street. However, coffee was good.

No kids menu per se but kids in the restaurant and happy so that works! Great salmon, pasta options, steak Frites potatoe skins(!!), bowls, hot & cold healthy salads but more! perfect mix. One wish::: Tired of the reggae music s/t (predictable old school venice blvd crap) but interiors are modern & austere put more modern music on and will be all set! Plus put a $12 ish white blend & red blend on the menu and bob s yr uncle! Bravo! ps love the blueys at night tee s and color combo!!!

So cruel to their delivery drivers. The note on the app is so demeaning to their drivers- thoughtless enough that the place deserves a bad review. I cannot leave this restaurant a good review. Period the atmosphere is so-so and the service was obviously, horrendous.

The food is good, they have large portions and a nice variety. The coffee was burnt though. But, it was a rainy morning when we visited and they made a line, did not let customers to get in before ordering their food at the door. There was an employee getting everyone s order one by one inside. So, we ended up waiting under the rain for about 10 minutes. And guess what, they asked for a tip to wait in the line under the rain to give our order! I should have asked for a discount actually.

Been here a few times and I have to say aesthetically it s awesome nice big open spaces and really nice interior the issues are with the price of the food. The food is average it s not bad but it s not going to blow you away, the portions are small and for a burger and small salad plus 2 drinks you re looking at close $60? Doesn t make sense to me I don t mind paying for good food but this place isn t it.

The food was good and simple breakfast food, no complaints there. The issue came when my food came out. I ordered a breakfast sandwich; and my friend ordered a breakfast burrito, but hers took about 30 mins to come to the table. I had to go up and ask where her order was..The food runner went to the back to check and came right out with the breakfast burrito. It bothered me that no one bothered to say, sorry that it took 30 mins for the food order when it was clear that the order was forgotten. I am really big on customer service, and I know orders get mixed up or forgotten, but not addressing the issue is a bad look, and makes me add this to the places I will not be patronizing again.

I would put 10 stars if I could. Blueys is the best local spot with delicious and clean food. Everyone that works here is kind, warm and hard working. The decor and atmosphere is so pleasant and the food is absolutely incredible. I am so grateful this is right around the corner from me. I am never disappointed when I come here. As Nicole Kidman says about AMC. Heart break feels good in a place like this.

Nice atmosphere. Pleasant staff and quick service. However, when it come to the food, its relatively basic and the pricing is ridiculous. The bluys breakfast is decent. I tried the burger for $16 (+tip $20!) that come with a side of cut up lettice. At that price, please have the courtesy to add some fries. I also ordered the EL PESCADOR ($16), which Is pretty much no different that a Filet-O-Fish from mcdonalds but 4X the price. Again no side, except some chopped up lettice!!! I really want to like this place, and I honestly do. But the food pricing needs to be adjusted or the quality of food needs to be improved. Please add a side of fries to your sandwich and burger. One last point, the open concept is very nice when the weather is warm, but it would be an.idea to close the large windows when its cold and windy or put on the heaters please.

Dietary restrictions: Hubby is gluten- and dairy-free and its easy for him to eat here.

Best coffee in Mar Vista and Venice area. Australians if you want a normal coffee, this is the best I have found. Good, espresso-based coffee that isnt burnt or bitter or weak like a lot of other American coffee. Staff are super nice, food is yummy, beautiful big windows and skylight. Highly recommend. The only thing is that the chairs are really loud when theyre moved on the concrete floors, which is such a tiny gripe, but everything else is so good, I noticed it. Parking: Heaps of street parking. Might be a bit busy on the weekends, but still will be able to find something within a short walk. Wheelchair accessibility: No steps, all flat, and plenty of space to maneuvre a wheelchair or other device.

Go for the vibe, not the coffee. The service and vibe is good, which makes the mediocre coffee feel deceivingly so. Tried different lattes 3 separate times, and the drink just tasted like water when it was iced, or just milk when it was hot. EDIT: Coffee has gotten better since my first review, and some of the food is really good, although prepare 25-30 min to get it

The breakfast burrito is not worth the money. After a few bacon free bites, which did have some nice soft egg and cheese, my next bite was just of very rubbery egg, so I opened it up and found maybe one slice worth of chopped bacon, overcooked scrambled eggs, 3 tater tots, and a few specks of the promised jalapeños or charred scallions. Lots of cheese though. The squash pancakes just tasted like uncooked flour of some kind, though with a nice hint of warm spices. Super stodgy texture, no squash flavor at all, but very beautifully presented. My orange juice was very bitter as well, which normally wouldn t be a deal at all but after all of this, to not even have the balm of a nicely made fresh juice almost made me cry! I imagine that they re very busy in the kitchen, but the restaurants philosophy is offering elevated simplicity, which was not reflected in my meal.

Since Blueys has opened, I have enjoyed dining there as well as getting items to go 5+ times a month. You could say I am a regular. Unfortunately today an interaction with the manager of the Mar Vista location changes that. I ordered a burrito to go, my usual breakfast burrito, and then got caught up on the phone speaking with a friend in distress. Once I grabbed by order, I decided to go ahead and eat it there after all. This was not a trick to beat the line, simply the circumstances of the morning. I was told by a server that I could not be provided with a plate and utensils because I decide to dine in after all because it was frowned upon. I asked to speak to the manager who simply said it was policy - what you order is what you get (to go vs. not) and it cannot be changed. I asked is he recognized me as a regular customer and would be consider changing it today, and he said no its policy and it will remain. Frankly, this kind of black and while thinking, and lack of ability to approach circumstances as we encounter them in life with nuanced thinking is lacking is many segments of modern society, but it particularly stung here considering the frequency with which I dine here and the managers inability to look at a particular instance and make a judgement call that accommodated a regular customer. I simply asked for a plate and utensils after all. Outstanding food is everywhere in LA, but outstanding service is not. Too bad today I was shown what they care about and its not their regular customers. Managers that follow policy above everything without looking at the details of particular situation -that is sad! There are SO many good restaurants on the westside - I will in the future plan to give my business to places like Lodge Bread who over the past five years have consistently provided incredible food and service, never coming across like they were too cool and their lines were too long to remember who butters their bread. TOO BAD!

Weird parking situation. Aparently there are like 6 owners who have reserved parking at the back of the shop. Makes it so customers have to walk quite a ways to get to the shop if they re coming by car. Not so much a customer-first mentality. Hip beach vibes with nice food. I only wish it was right on the beach somewhere! Mega Aussie vibes. People around here dress awful fancy. If you look like a beach bum the other patrons might give you a sideeye. Parking: No parking available at restaurant as it is reserved for owners

It was just ok. I got the squash pancakes which I was pretty excited for. They just tasted a little off/odd to me, the flavors didn t quite work for me and i the granola was overly toasted and tasted burnt. I think they use puréed and strained zucchini, i feel like acorn squash would taste much better. however, my mom loved the pancakes. she ordered the breakfast bowl formerly known as thing, and it was good. kale was very salty and the falafel was dry, but that dish was still good. those two dishes plus a tip came out to be $45 which is a lot. we were both very hungry, but neither of us finished our plates, very big portions. this place could use some less overthought menu items, smaller price tag and smaller portions. dog friendly patio seating is the biggest plus

I had been wanting to try this place out for awhile as it s a 2 minute walk from my house. I ordered a breakfast burrito and a latte, thinking I d for sure get the latte first. I was half way done my food when I asked the food runner if she could grab my latte, she said she d be right back with it I saw her come out twice without my drink, she came and said the latte is almost ready and I (obviously annoyed) said I m halfway done my food . She, with pure attitude mentioned how short staffed they are and barked at me that a staff member died last week as if to make me feel bad for being annoyed. I truly am sorry that you lost a member of your staff, but why am I being told this? Learn some professionalism, this is not what I m paying for. Never again. Also, she was the server with the flower tattoo on her right arm.

Came by on a Saturday for brunch with my partner. Really enjoyed the Blueys Breakfast with eggs, bacon, and veggies. Highly recommend their mexi latte too! Partner got the burger and it was ok but enjoyed their cortado. If youre going with other folks I would say one person should stay in line to order and the others should wait for a table since its a free for all/cafeteria style. Somewhat annoying how some folks that finish their food/coffee just talk at the tables for a long time especially when they see theres tons of other folks waiting to sit and eat.

Love to see a women owned small business in our hood and the food is bomb! Just what Venice/ Mar Vista needed.

Super Excited to have Blueys on my side of town. Been going to their Santa Monica location since they opened and enjoy the food and staff. Great to see that some of the staff are also at this location, food was great and excited to drop by more often now that it s closer to me.

So excited to finally have a good breakfast cafe in the neighborhood. I have been going to their Santa Monica location for a few years but this is so much better. Lots of seating and the same delicious food.
