I really liked this coffee shop in historic Filipinotown. The main issue is parking is hard to find. The streets are busy, so jay-walking takes patience. I wish I got a pastry, but this just means I need to make another visit. I got the doubtless breakfast burrito $16, and it was so so good. I got it take away, so they packed the salsa in a separate little container. I thoroughly enjoyed this burrito. The coffee I got was the fig leaf cream cold brew. The fig leaf smelled so good, but I think I would rather enjoy cold brew without heavy cream. I would come back! The server was really nice. He was smiling a lot. I saw a lot of people working on laptops and maybe spotted a few outlets here and there.

Excellent pastries and cakes. I ordered a whole cake and it was beautifully made. (The outter layer did taste a little bit fridge like, but....it happens.) I ordered the breakfast plate. I dont think I would order it again, because they cook their bacon soft. I thought the first time was just a fluke, but this is the second time. Some people like it, I prefer mine evenly cooked with a little bit of crisp. I also ordered my eggs over medium and they were over hard . Baked goods are delicious

I walked six miles for the Doubting Thomas namesake burrito, and it was absolutely worth it! The burrito was huge, packed with flavor, and perfectly satisfying. The latte I had alongside it was spot-on. Unfortunately, I didn t get a chance to try their famous passionfruit dessert, but I ll definitely be back to explore more of their desserts and pastries. A great spot for anyone in LA looking for delicious food and a cozy vibe!

Hands down best brunch/lunch I have had in LA. Worth a line if there is one. Was even more impressed after reading about the head chef, her dedication to using locally sourced and seasonal ingredients. We had a crispy tuna rice dish, the cast iron herbed chicken sandwich and a diplomat pastry (with mulberry). All superb. the coffee is really good too. I will note the lack of plentiful seating: on a Sat/Sunday its pretty hard to find a spot indoors and outdoors, lots of laptop surfers taking up spots I think. I also wish they were open for dinner but cest la vie.

Doubting Thomas has always been my favorite cafe (adore their passion fruit pie and food), but the way they handled their Labor Day lunch rush honestly left a bad taste in my mouth. Implementing a no work policy in the middle of the day isn t fair to customers who have already paid with the expectation that they can enjoy their food and drink while getting things done. Start a lunch hours or holiday policy, or have a time limit on tables per item, fine, but don t shame your customers into leaving after the fact, especially when most hadn t even been there a full hour. I know cafes don t love laptop users, but they are consistent clientele that should be treated like other customers.

Overpriced crap

Overpriced breakfast and coffee in a neighborhood that has always been traditionally Filipino and Latin American. Featured on Eater LA, the article explains Historic Filipinotown and Rampart Village experiencing a boom of growth and attention. This is another coffee/pastry place marking up the prices in the local neighborhood trying to make profit as they werent able to find cheap leases because Echo Park, Silverlake, and the Arts District is too expensive for the restaurant. The establishment is modern and hip. Theres no dedicated parking and if youre trying to cross the street on Temple - the cars will not stop. Coffee is good and the pastries are incredible.

Doubting Thomas is subtle and effortless and therefore such a comforting environment to be in with no fuss. Of course you can get a good meal here but the real take away from this cafe is the pastry selection. This is by far one of the best pastry selections I have seen in the states. It s on par with more notable cafes pastry offerings that I have seen in London and Paris and elsewhere in Europe. Whoever the pastry chef is you should know that you are doing an incredible job and your work does not go unnoticed and it is an art that I know many others enjoy as well. I keep coming back for the pastries alone.

I absolutely adore Doubting Thomas! Its my favorite neighborhood coffee shop, and I love it so much that I cant imagine living more than 10 minutes away from it. Their pastries and drinks are amazing, with the best dirty chai Ive ever had. They make their chai in-house, and its phenomenal. But what truly sets Doubting Thomas apart is their incredibly kind and welcoming staff. Matthew, in particular, is a gem. Hes always so friendly and takes the time to ask how you are, remembering personal details that make Doubting Thomas feel like a true community. As someone with allergies, I deeply appreciate how Matthew ensures theres no cross-contamination with my drink, using a separate napkin to grab my pastries. This level of care is rare and means a lot to me. If you ever visit, I hope you get the chance to meet Matthew. Hes the kindest person and will surely brighten your day! Dietary restrictions: One of the few bakeries I can eat at with a nut allergy. Also have gluten free and vegan options available!

Doubting Thomas is honestly one of my favorite cafes in LA! The employees are super nice and fast, the coffee is great (though I wouldn t get the cold brew as a stand alone), and the food is delicious. Their pastries are also well done and are baked fresh every day. The space is a little small during busy hours, but they have outdoor seating! Parking is also a little hard. Overall, great cafe! Stopped by after an intense workout this place hit the spot. I really loved the cold brew with the lavender cream. The Thomas breakfast was great, enjoyed the French omelette and the tomatoes (yum) while I cooled down from my hot yoga session. They also have some good looking pastries. Especially the passion fruit tart. Oh also ask what the seasonal citrus juice is- had the fresh squeezed tangerine. So. Good. Parking: Mondays and Tuesdays they have street cleaning in that neighborhood. 10am. Otherwise it seems like the rest of the week should be pretty straightforward.

You will love this place, especially when you need a break from your office. They dont mind if you take your laptop in and work while you eat. I dont do that, but I see a lot of people doing it at Doubting Thomas. They are only open for breakfast and lunch and their menu is geared toward that. This is woman owned -breakfast, brunch, lunch hideout. The staff is wonderful and seem to enjoy working there. They are very friendly and they are fast. You order from a counter and they will being you the most delicious meals. You will love it. You can sit in the dining room that has floor to ceiling windows or outside on Temple Street. It can get busy with lots of people eating and on their computers. There are plug ins everywhere. We are always inside so I dont know if the outdoor seating has plug ins. The menu has something for everyone. A vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or someone like me, a meat lover can and will find something they love. All of their food is fresh and locally sourced. They have the best eggs with the most yummy orange yokes. Just the best. The Thomas breakfast is great with wonderful bacon, eggs and a biscuit. Their avocado toast is amazing with smashed avocado, shallots, chive oil, lemon, radish all on sprouted rye. Amazing. For lunch try the pork belly rice bowl filled with pork, fresh from the market greens, champagne mustard, yummy house pickles, one sunny side up egg, and cilantro. It is magical. The coffee is perfect and never old tasting. It is just great. Their pastries are all out for display in a pastry case. They are all great. They also have fresh pies and cakes and that changes, but all are good. I would order a cake from them (you can on their website) but they are a tad pricey for my budget. The area is always clean and everyone is nice. Have fun.

With all of the food choices, we have in Los Angeles, hands-down, Doubting Thomas is in a league of its own. This independent, woman owned -breakfast, brunch, lunch oasis has the best of all worlds; delicious food, friendly and warm staff and esthetically beautiful surroundings. You can either sit in the dining room that has floor to ceiling windows or outside on Temple under a covered patio. Ill probably post a lot of photos of the food Ive eaten over the years! The menu has something for everyone whether its vegetarian, vegan, gluten-free or for pork belly or beef lovers. And the daily handmade desserts are not only mouthwateringly delicious for your stomach, but a feast for the eyes! The doubtless breakfast burrito you can order anytime, I especially like it and order it with a runny egg. Its made some of LAs best burritos list. If you want a vegetarian version there is one available. The tomatillo sauce along with the fermented veggies that come on the side are unforgettable. Simple salad is not simple at all, it is absolutely delicious and really an entire meal in itself. Kale salad has become a favorite of my out-of-town friends because it is so fresh and towering. The chef shops at the santa monica farmers market weekly and the care that she puts into choosing the produce is really apparent. Eggs always have the brightest orange yolks. I could go on and on about the food, but you can read about other choices and the other reviews! I love the fresh made berry iced teas and lemonades and often ask for an Arnold Palmer. Especially if Im not too too late and they havent run out of tea or lemonade! The fig leaf cold brew is also a favorite and everyone swears by the coffee. Im always amazed that the seating is always self regulating. Well, there may be a short line in front of the cash register. You can always seem to find a seat either at the bar facing Temple St, the communal table or the tables for two inside or out. As soon as you walk in, you are faced with 2 yards of pastries in a pastry case. ALWAYS ORDER A PASTRY, even if its to go! Passionfruit pie, banana, bread, banoffee pie, the cookies, the gorgeous cake for those who want something not too sweet. There is no table service though its always nice to be greeted by a friendly staff person who will take your order. Youll get a number to take to your table and a member of the staff will bring you your meal. Please TIP GENEROUSLY! Vegetarian options: All of the salads are vegetarian. The veggie burrito and veggie quesadilla as well as the mushroom rice bowl. Dietary restrictions: Doubting Thomas offers some for every one. If your gluten-free, vegan or vegetarian, there are lots of options and they can always leave some out if you ask. The chefs are very accommodating, and the staff is very knowledgeable on the ingredients in every offering. Parking: On Mondays and Tuesdays. It s a little harder to park on the street due to street cleaning but go afternoon the rest of the week including weekends. It s easy to park!

*After my terrible experience I m seriously Doubting Thomas* Man I wanted to give them one star but the burritos were really good. I found this place in my list of best breakfast burritos, I can see why the burritos are great. The customer service was terrible. I have honestly never encountered such bad customer service. When I ordered I ordered two burritos and two coffees. I received on burrito and both my coffees. I wait for 15min thinking my other burrito would come out. Staff were very attentive to all the other customers but not me. Finally I ask about my second burrito, I was told I only ordered one even though my total can up to $45 I wasn t given a receipt so no proof on my end. I pay for the second burrito and wait another 15min. The lady who I am guessing was the manager walks past me several times never asking me what s going on. Although she ask many other people. She even allowed a customer to go behind the counter and take a pic with the coffee machine. I was also no offered cup holders or a carry out bag they basically handed me my stuff and were like leave. As you can see in the picture they never took my order card, so naturally I assumed my other burrito was coming. I was forced to pay for three burritos and only got two. I don t play the race card, but for some reason I feel like my race might have been the issue here. The burritos are great but I doubt I ll ever be back. I don t like to give my money to people who don t want it. Parking: Parking is street parking but it s kind of crowded. Wheelchair accessibility: Very wheelchair accessible

I saw it but I didn t have the energy to argue with the hipster vibes going on there.. and the guy wasn t even purging the steam wand after each use. Parking is also horrible. So no I don t recommend the place and we will not go there again.

After much hype, I decided to try this spot. Unfortunately, I had a terrible experience. The service to start was ok, I got my coffee pretty soon after I ordered. When I got my veggie burrito, it looked great from the outside. But it was pretty soft overall, so I didn t notice until I was almost finished with the first half when I saw slimy egg white slide out in a string into a pool on the plate. I know how to make a sunny side egg and this was clearly not cooked properly, the top of the egg white should still be set (white, not clear) with the egg yolk runny. I was really grossed out by the texture and upset because it wasn t a sunny egg. I was going to leave, but I felt they should know these eggs aren t getting cooked properly. One of their employees tried to tell me well it s a pork belly burrito (which in the menu doesn t appear to include eggs?), and I had to confirm it was indeed a veggie burrito. Very disappointing to have to explain myself after showing them the pool of albumen on the plate. They then offered to recook and or refund, but it definitely didn t feel genuine or that they were sorry so I told them to just please cook their eggs for their next customers. Could hear them laughing at that as I walked out, which was unbelievably rude. I would have totally have come another time or tried something else if it weren t for the way they handled it, definitely didn t feel good to experience. Please do better.

Super cute LA cafe in the filipinotown area!! Came here for lunch with a friend and I was really satisfied with the presentation of the food. I got the pork belly rice bowl, which came with brown rice and the pork belly meat was really good. The lettuce was in chunks and not cut up which I thought was interesting for convenience I think I would ve preferred it cut up into smaller pieces but it wasn t a big deal! I had the iced matcha latte with almond milk it was alright, average matcha latte and more on the watery side. It may have been because I chose almond milk instead of oat milk though. My friend had the breakfast dish which she liked and an extra hot matcha latte with oat milk. We got the chocolate banana bread which was sweet and good, and the banoff (I think that s how they spelt it) which looks like tiramisu but it s a seasonal special where you can only get it at this time. It s all cream on top with banana and a sweet caramel glazed tart bottom I think regular tiramisu tastes a lot better, not the biggest fan of it & it was super sweet so just kept making you want more. I really liked the seating here - there s outdoor and indoor and the architecture of it was good. Ample street parking around the block. It doesn t feel like the safest place to meander and walk around but the cafe itself is good. It s a great neighborhood gem / local gem type of place!! The servers / barista were super kind and gentle which I appreciated. Service was fast too. Good Customer service always makes a place shine. I visited Doubting Thomas on several occasions and always find something nice to try. I started with the croissants as always. In fact, even though the cafe opens at 7am, the butter croissant wasnt available until around 8am during that visit. But then of course it is served fresh off the oven. Its not the flakiest or crunchiest croissant I had, but the fresh warmth elevated the experience, plus the big portion and the simmering golden layers, I think its worth the wait. When it comes to chocolate croissants, freshness means melted chocolate filling and I absolutely loved it. The ham and cheese croissant, however, was underwhelming. One other croissant I had was an almond croissant with passion fruit filling. The filling overflowed and created a little cascade as I pressed the croissant for the bite, what a delicious mess! Doubting Thomas pastry offering usually features a pie of the week. I especially enjoyed the banoffee pie. Its cream is light and its sweetness is subtle, yet combined with banana, cocoa, and caramel, it is a divine treat. I had it for breakfast and had no guilt about it. While I was there mostly to get pastries, I did try the breakfast sandy (homemade biscuit, sunny egg, sausage, cheddar, arugula, mayonnaise) and enjoyed the fresh ingredients and delicate presentation. Their food menu is rather extensive: toasts, burritos, pancakes, salads, even chicken katsu! For some items, maybe a bit expensive too.

This place has delicious food and the ambiance is great. A must for anyone who is looking for an alternative breakfast experience. Their pastries are unique and awesome tasting. Dont miss out on those! I generally highly recommend this place. This being said, I would recommend the manager to reconsider how to handle the cashier situation. We ordered our food and had waited in a busy line until it was our turn. After sitting down, I decided that it would be nice to get a warm drink, but I was told that I had to wait in line again to get my item. Certainly not what I want to do after already having waited in line the first time. Ringing up an extra item on the side should not be such a big deal. Chipotle does this all the time with Chips& Guac... I recommend to visitors to kow what you order when in line the first time, unless you want to wait multiple times in long lines.

Staff is super friendly and chill, great relaxing vibe! Food was amazing and the pastry all looked so tasty! Id say the only thing I was a bit annoyed by is the surroundings. People kept trying to talk to me when I was walking from where I parked, very uncomfortable and a bit scary. But once I got there everything was truly amazing.

The food is great and the space is large with indoor and outdoor options. Street parking. Service is pleasant and its very neighborly so dont expect turnover and efficiency. Just leisurely. My only issue is there is a huge fly issue in their pastry case.

Came to try a new brunch spot... got the doubtless breakfast burrito with braised prok shoulder, white cheddar, potatoes, smoked chili, cilantro, onion, sunny farm eggs, tomatillo salsa, served with onions and a slice of habanero salsa... the breakfast burrito was very flavorful, pork shoulder was tender and the habanero slice and onions on the side provided a nice crunch and kick... the croissant was flaky on the outside and fluffy soft and buttery on the inside... the passion fruit pie with Graham cracker macadamia crust was served with whipped cream and fresh passionfruit... I really enjoyed my meal here... they gave us a free coffee for my moms birthday... highly recommend the food and friendly service...

Went twice in one week because I couldn t stop thinking about the Fig Leaf cold brew. I had the quesadilla with short rib on my first visit and the biscuits and gravy on my second visit. Both were delicious. I d also recommend the tangerine roll - kind of a panettone flavor profile in a cinnamon roll shape. Expect to pay roughly $20 for meal and beverage, and be sure to ask for silverware when you order. There is outdoor and indoor seating - first come first serve. Dog friendly and an interesting atmosphere. Would definitely come back.

I was really looking forward in trying this place out. I ordered an espresso old fashion and was a very enjoyable drink until I realized I was chewing on a fly. I thought it was the wedge of orange, and boy was I terribly wrong. It was a very unpleasant experience and I truly hope this doesn t happen to anyone else.

Poor quality and overpriced. Im usually getting pandesal and turo turo next door but decided to try DT out. Had a $17 rice bowl, a dry carrot cake, and a cortado made like a latte. Jesus. I dont know why I thought this would be worthwhile. I am embarrassed for the folks that reviewed Doubting Thomas positively. If you cant stomach the thought of supporting existing neighborhood businesses... well, obviously this place is your jam.

Pastries galore! Creative delicious gorgeous Pleasant ambience with friendly and attentive staff. Love coming here! On a more general note, I believe the era of charging extra for non dairy milks is over and customers should not be penalized for making a more environmentally sustainable and animal friendly choice. I would love to see DT help pioneer this change, as it feels in keeping with its progressive vibes! P.s. the key lime pie is the best I ve ever had!

Morning and brunch times can be busy. There will be a line, but the line goes by fast. Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Parking is street parking, that is not hard to find in the residential area. Pastries are delicious! I am not sure if it is seasonal, but the passion fruit tart is to die for! Perfect mix of sweet and tart. The breakfast burritos are also large and filling. Vibe is very casual, and perfect to meet up with a group of friends.

If I could give it a zero I honestly would. I ordered a sandwich and a cold brew coffee for dine in. I waited 30 minutes before asking what happened to my order and to just make it to go. One worker went to the kitchen grabbed my food and gave it to me but I also told him I didn t get my cold brew with milk. He proceeded to put cold brew in the cup, it over flowed THEN WIPED MY CUP WITH THE SAME RAG THEY USE TO WIPE THE COUNTER. The coffee is trash. This place is already WAY OVERPRICED with slow service. What a way to ruin a breakfast run. Worst $20 I ve ever spent. Go to McDonalds or something. Oh and here s a picture of their bacon sandwich, does it look appetizing?

Phenomenal!!!!!!!! A dream come true to finally visit this amazing cafe that I follow on social media. Everything was so fresh and delicious (and yes, it is as good as it looks on social media). I had the Thomas breakfast and the eggs both look out of this world and taste the same way. The most beautiful yolks ever!!! My iced Matcha was made to perfection. Their jam is so divine that I could eat it with a spoon out of a jar. Cookies, carrot cake and banana bread - all so amazing. The owner and team are lovely. I appreciate the care they take to source from local farms and create dishes that mirror each seasons produce. So good!!!! A tip: get there early in the day as the baked goods do sell quickly.

One of the most overrated places I ve ever been. The food is ok, nothing on the menu is great. Anything off the grill is going to come with a half inch layer of grease & you can get 10x better coffee down the street at any of the Cuban or Filipino cafés (also wayyy cheaper). Let s be honest, the expensive price you pay here is because of the high end cafe feel and to be surrounded by the hipster/artsy folk who s parents can t quite support a silverlake apartment but still want to feel like the main character of their new LA lives. These are the same people that protested the mass cleaning of echo park homeless but are too busy gentrifying everything else they won t walk 200 ft to support actual local businesses and authentically good coffee/food.

A Christian carnist cafe located on a busy Los Angeles street behind a bus stop in Filipinotown. Even though the grills stay loaded up with dead animals, some of the baked goods sometimes come in vegan and/or gluten free options. You can often find people mingling or studying in their indoor or outdoor spaces. The staff is nice and the bathrooms are fairly clean, but the matcha and chai are pre-mixed.
