I can t really rate the atmosphere since my food was delivered I m going to go visit the restaurant and give the food one more try but this first go around I was not impressed by the food the banana bread didn t really have any banana taste to it and the chorizo croissant was very underwhelming with 2 pieces of thin chorizo sausage which looked and tasted like pepperoni .I gave the restaurant 5 stars because the lavender latte is one of the BEST coffees I ve ever had if this restaurant only sold coffee and nothing else they would still thrive .

FIRSR THINGS FIRST, I NEVER VISIT LA WITHOUT COMING HERE! With that said, they removed one of my favorite items (the churros) and added beignets (Which are the absolute worst I ve ever tasted). Please get rid of that beignet and bring back CHURROS. My man and I drive from San Diego to get coffee and churros and this is a major disappointment.

Under no circumstances order the Soul Bowl. The bacon is not cooked, but possibly boiled. Its very disappointing because not only are the bacon bits not crispy, but from the description I thought there would be at least 2 table spoons of bacon, but I had to find these little square pieces of uncooked bacon. The grits were alright but very slushy. Then the pouched egg disappeared into what Ill call a soup of collard greens, sweet corn kernels, and grits. Needless to say wasnt much soul in this bowl! DO NOT ORDER THIS!!! The STAFF IS NICE AND EFFICIENT, THE CHEFS. ARE GOOD. WHAT WOULD HELP WOULD BE PICTURE S OF THE MEALS!!!

Definitely will come here again though to give a proper 2nd chance as the ambiance and aesthetic are really comfortable and welcoming.

This is a coffee shop that my boyfriend likes to come to. There is a free parking lot right in front of it, which is very convenient. The coffee is very fragrant and there are many coffee shops. Many people work here with computers. The music is not too low. It is not a quiet place. The decoration is simple. nice. I had the Burrito, it tasted great and the sauce was just right.

Hilltop opened when the area was lacking this kind of shared artistic cafe space. I think its probably the best of its kind in all Los Angeles. The food and drinks are amazing, but its really the energy and happiness of the space that draws me back almost every morning. Reading a book over a coffee and a Buenos Dias bowl after a run in Kenneth Hahn is just about the best way to start any day.

Nice ambience as well, though the seats are all pretty hard, and wifi is free but very slow, if youre planning to work there for a long time. $80 for 3 food items and 3 drinks? ordered takeout and waited over 40 minutes for our drinks. no exaggeration. our food was just sitting there and when we finally got our drinks, our food was just plain cold. their matcha chata literally just tastes like some milk alternative and sugar. this place is clearly just for the atmosphere and aesthetic but its genuinely mid at best.

You can t see the location from the street, down the breezeway, the restaurant was busy but the wait isn t bad. I had a coffee and beignets to start. The coffee was good, and the beignets were just ok, it was more like a powdered doughnut round. After my friend arrived we all got the breakfast sandwich. It was good but I just they had white American cheese versus yellow. It s was hard to get a table, I felt like we played musical chairs but we were finally able to get a table for 3 people. I did get cornbread for later and it was . I wouldn t mind going back for coffee and cornbread! Lastly there s a parking lot in the back or on the street in the front.

I really wanted to give this place 5 but my spirit and the bad taste in my mouth from the beignet and the berry jam wouldnt let me do it. Unfortunately, the beignets were dry and hardly compare to NOLA or for that matter the ones Ive had @bottegalouie and that berry jam OMG, theres so much room for improvement... With that being said the 4 are for the wonderful lavender honey latte, ambiance and supporting one of my favs @issarae...

The vibe is awesome here and definitely a good place for computer work. The flavored lattes are delicious, I tried the pistachio and lavender. The food was really delicious on my first visit, so much so that I came back that Sunday and it was a huge difference in the food experience. You pay a good amount for the food, wait about 20 minutes just to get cold breakfast. Not even warm. My breakfast burrito is supposed to have cheddar cheese and there was none. The same for the Buenos dias bowl. The only warm items were the tater tots I had for a side. I could have said something but it was not worth adding extra work load to the employees which are working non stop AND have to wait another 20-30 minutes.

I ordered food to go. had to be proactive on trying to get it, as it was not coming in a timely manner. After 35-40 min of waiting, food was never made, and I had to ask for a refund. I kept being told it was almost done. it was just a breakfast burrito.

I m sorry, but I have to say something. I got a latte, a breakfast bowl and the cauliflower wings. It was $30. The first time I experienced the soul bowl (when they first opened), I was like wow!. Heavenly!. It felt like it was made with love and purpose and was such a unique dish. The second and third time ( over an expanded period of time) I bought it, it was salty but my grits still creamy, greens tender and egg perfect. I was a little leary about ordering it again this morning because I couldnt handle any saltiness this early, but I did. Everything was tasty, not salty, but my grits were not creamy, greens not juicy and my egg was overcooked. no overflowing of yolk. I know everything cant be perfect every time, I just wanted the owner to know about the inconsistencies with the dish. The service is always great and the other items I have had were tasty so I will be back. Thanks for being in the community.

I was pleasantly surprised when I found this gem in the back of the shopping center on Slauson in between Overhill and Angeles Vista. Apparently everyone else is hip to this kool coffee house cause it was packed in the middle of the day. The aroma of great coffee, historic photos, kool art, flat screens, 2 Pac quotes on the wall and happy people enjoying their favorite cup of joe makes this coffee house feel very cozy! I had a double espresso with a shot of oatmilk and the roast was delicious very high quality. The menu is nice and simple. It includes some delicious food items as well. All and all if you are looking for a new coffee house that really hits the mark, do yourself a favor and walk in this spot! TIPS: GET THE MACHA-CHATA!!! (Your Welcome)

Solid coffee joint in the 626 that serves a solid shot of espresso. A great place to pick up some freshly roasted beans to brew at home also. Prior to COVID Copa was a great place to chill and have well prepared cafe fare and coffee. The tea options are a bit lackluster so I would definitely recommend sticking to the espresso/coffee drinks. As things open back up, Hilltop Coffee + Kitchen - Slauson is great a place sit down to grab some quality food and coffee.

Review №197

The buenos dias was terrible, and left us with quite a negative impression of the place. Especially, since a breakfast bowl is very easy to make and please. Dish wasnt warm or seasoned. Seemed like canned black beans; the dish was just some basic ingredients placed in a bowl and 1 uninspiring scrambled egg. Superfood bowl was good, yet expensive at $17 for smaller bowl of raw ingredients. Beingets were quite good, and the dipping sauce was great. Lavender latte was nice. Service was great. Place is trendy.
