Rude, unfriendly cashier. He ignored us when we came in, then was busy in a conversation with his friend, no help with the pastries, no thank you after we paid. The pretzel bun was hard, the pastry not special, nothing German/Austrian about this bakery, at least the service could have been better.

Went twice today and literally bring all my friends and family whenever they visit. Jeremy is a superstar who races about making sure we have all the foods and coffees of our dreams. The pretzel egg and avocado croissant is delicious every time I get it and the textures of the pancakes are perfect. The actual bakery has addictive baked goods and the coffee is the best in town. My wife loves the yogurt and the pretzel jalapeno cheese

The bread was fresh and good but the food a disappointment after eating many meals Chef Hans Röckenwagners more formal places (and dreaming about many of the dishes). Straightforward, brilliant, inventive flavors and combinations were in every dish. And always more than a competitive prices to add a final flourish. Here the bread and bakery goods are very good though two other bakeries no long around had much, much better pretzel buns. The menu sound divine but the sandwiches feel skimpy in appearance and taste. The service is enthusiastic and you can see an owner overseeing it all. The clever decor is upbeat but austere, including backless stools. We wanted this to be our go-to place but even the menu (one vegetarian) prevents this. The place was busy, busy and happy to see this

Im disappointed in my first experience at Röckenwagner. I picked up a Challah for the Jewish holidays and brought it to a group dinner and the bread was not fresh. I have a feeling it was day-old bread, perhaps even two days old. I wish the store would have told me that before I purchased it. Im giving three stars because Ive heard very good things about this bakery, and the muffin I ordered was very fresh. Update: Second visit a year later was much better. Loved the grain bowl!

Im not a dog hater, but do enjoy a nice pastry and coffee without the dogfights, barking, flying hairs and dogs jumping on the counter to inspect the goods...IJS

The best place to go if youre a wannabe influencer type! Dry, tasteless croissants that are less flaky than the business itself. Creatures line up from all over west LA. This business treats homeless human beings like scum of the earth. This place is not wheelchair accessible. They have a cheap queue that takes up space on the sidewalk making it hard for people with mobility devices to efficiently pass.

Before catching a flight, we decided to swing by Röckenwagner Bakery in Culver City (near Los Angeles) for a quick caffeine and pastry fix. We ordered a flat white and an oat milk latte, along with two chocolate croissants. Everything was great the drinks were smooth and the croissants were deliciously fluffy. What surprised me was the pricing; quite reasonable, especially considering the cafes location. We dropped by during a somewhat off-hour in the late afternoon, so we had the place to ourselves. Took advantage of the situation by sitting outside to enjoy the weather and our treats. Its a great spot for quality baked goods and coffee if youre in the area.

Röckenwagner Bakery is a true gem in Culver City. The pastries are made with fresh, high-quality ingredients and baked to perfection. I especially love the croissants, which are flaky and buttery, and the plum tart, which is tart and juicy. The scones are also a great option, try the 5-grain ones with a latte. If youre looking for a delicious and satisfying pastry, Röckenwagner Bakery is the place to go, well worth the drive. Try parking around the corner.

Wow I love this place. Went on a Friday at 10am and it wasnt crowded yet. I just grabbed a table inside and didnt have to wait long for our waiter. At the front entrance, theres a nice selection of ready-to-go meals (soups, salads, sandwiches, wraps, and other small sides) and a ton of artisan baked goods and desserts. They are popluar for their coffees and yes my hot vanilla latte was exceptional. They also sell groceries which is pretty cool. My pretzel croissant sandwich with a medium fried egg and a side of tater tots was so delicious. The croissant was fresh and flaky. Parking is either metered street parking or free parking in the surrounding residential streets (watch for street cleaning days). Their ready-to-go Turkey Reuben Sandwich and Cool Sesame Noodles with Chicken were also very tasty. Cant wait to go back.

Ordered packaged food and went outside to eat; there was one table where a woman was working on her laptop with no food. More tables were inside, can we take a table outside? No, the tables are taken in at 3:00. (small beat up tables that looked like theyd spent all their time outside). Eventually employee relented and appeared with a table. Otherwise, the refrigerated sandwiches were fine but the entire experience was not pleasant.

Both the umlaut and prominently displayed pretzels hint that this is a German bakery, but Röckenwagner offers more than just that. The wide range of pastries and dishes rival what you can find elsewhere in a traditional bakery, or cafe. Among everything Ive had, the lox danish is the absolute highlight. Fresh lox, cream cheese and everything seasoning on top of a flaky kouign amann without the caramelization, beautifully garnished by dill and capers, this pastry is both delicate and delicious, and $6.5 is basically what you usually pay for half of a boring lox bagel! Their butter croissant isnt as impressive, its soft and on the bland aide. The pretzel version is better thanks to the unique alkaline taste. The preztel bacon and gruyere croissant plays a double twist on the traditional ham & cheese croissant: pretzel skin, bacon heart. I wish I had it warmed up a little for a crispier crust. While Im not always amazed, I feel that this is a place that I have lots of options and wont go too wrong with any of them. From their pretty expansive breakfast and brunch menu, I tried the pretzel burger. The beef patty is tender and juicy, but the presentation gives me an old school diner vibe. Well, maybe they are more of a diner than a hipster cafe. Service at Röckenwagner has always been friendly and attentive. There are several big tables inside, and four smaller ones in front of the bakery where youll get a ton of sun. There can be a short line, but it comes and goes. I woundt mind a little wait, and will definitely go back again at least for that lox croissant.

Fortunately we remembered that Rockenwagner was fairly close to Playa del Rey! We were greeted by a very friendly cashier and big piles of tasty looking, perfectly shaped pastries, baked with love (we assume). We got the 2nd to last piece of plum tart, croissant, 5 grain scone, and hazelnut croissant, all with perfectly balanced flavors, and great texture I can t believe we forgot Rockenwagner is just a short drive from PDR. We also couldn t believe how consistent they ve been and that their quality after a decade since our last visit and even after Covid they re quality seems to have improved if that s possible! Keep up the great work!

This place is a must. The pretzel croissant breakfast sandwich was the beat breakfast sandwich I have ever tried. It was so juuicy and had the perfect amount of crunch and ingredients. The coffee was great also. Service. Definitely 5 stars. Will be back 10000%

Amazing bakery near Culver City. Pastries and coffee here are awesome. This is the closest to a French bakery I ve seen in southern LA. Also the egg sandwich is great. Super friendly staff and fresh items. It s an easy to get in / out place for a quick bite.
