Total local as well as hipster place. Get there early to skip the line. Put your hair in space buns and get your phone ready for very attractive food. Oh, and the taste, so good. Quality matters. The custard soaked French toast is so decadent.

This place was busy my entire visit and for good reason. It has a really cool artisanal shop next door of jams, and unique groceries. Dining on their patio was very LA . It had all the trendy hipsters in their jeans and vintage sweaters for the overcast day, Bustling with conversation, this place still provided excellent service and a delicious dish verified by their very popular Salmon Noice salad. (Probably spelled that wrong) But it was the last thing on their very long and tempting menu. Can t wait to come back.

We ordered the Sorrel Pesto Rice and the Latke-Tot (smoked). Both were delicious. The pesto rice felt like something that should be more healthy than tasty but it was deliciiis enough. Latke-tot was amazing right out of the kitchen. It was crispy and hot and confused my senses for a little and the pickled vegetables were a good match! Wait times are long though (15-20 mins)

I recently had the pleasure of dining at Squirl in Los Angeles, and it was an exceptional experience from start to finish. This place truly deserves all five stars! From the moment we walked in, the atmosphere was inviting and vibrant. The staff greeted us warmly and were incredibly attentive throughout our meal. Their knowledge of the menu and genuine enthusiasm for the dishes made us feel welcome and excited to try everything. The food at Squirl is nothing short of spectacular. Every dish we ordered was bursting with fresh, innovative flavors that delighted our taste buds. The seasonal ingredients and unique combinations showcased the chefs creativity and dedication to quality. The ricotta toast with seasonal jam is a must-try; its the perfect balance of creamy and tangy. The sorrel pesto rice bowl was another standout, with its harmonious blend of textures and flavors that left us craving more. The presentation of each dish was also impeccable. You can tell that a lot of thought and care goes into not only how the food tastes but also how it looks. It s clear that the team at Squirl is passionate about delivering a memorable dining experience. In addition to the incredible food, the ambiance of Squirl adds to its charm. The cozy, laid-back vibe makes it a perfect spot for a casual meal with friends or a special date. The decor is simple yet stylish, creating a comfortable environment where you can truly enjoy your meal. Overall, Squirl exceeded our expectations in every way. The combination of delicious, thoughtfully prepared food, exceptional service, and a warm, inviting atmosphere makes it a standout restaurant in Los Angeles. I cant wait to return and explore more of their delightful menu. Highly recommended!

All I can say is wow. Easily in my top 3 favorite restaurants in Los Angeles now. The attention to detail in the menu is phenomenal, every flavor is on point, and every dish was balanced. Now i want to try every dish on the menu! We (2 people) had blueberry morning bun, essies latke tot, brioche toast with cherry jam, and the brûlé french toast. Some highlights: - the morning bun had the best blueberry flavor Ive ever had in a pastry - the beet cured lox was insane. 11/10 - the jam was perfect as expected. next time I would get the ricotta toast but we already ordered a lot! - the french toast was like no other, another 11/10 Zero notes on the food. We came on a Sunday at around 10:30 and had no line to order. Food came as you would expect, around 15-20 minutes. The only downside to this location is the small seating area, the outside tables are nice but the cars on the street could be loud at times. Cant wait to come back!

6/10 Nice brunch spot in Silverlake. I think my main issue with Sqirl is that their dishes are beautifully presented, but the looks bear stronger than the taste. I found the dishes were hit or miss. While we LOVED the seasonal frittata and the latka, the pesto bowl and ricotta toast were lacking. Don t get me wrong, it s a pretty place to grab lunch with friends, you can tell a lot of effort was put into the interior. Just not sure if it reaches my top brunch spots in LA. I could foresee myself coming back to try the pastries or cake (which looked delicious), but for the full sit down brunch thing, it might be awhile before I come back.

Wow wow wow. I am so glad I decided to stop in. I ordered the latkes... mannnn. So crunchy, perfectly salted with creme fraiche, and some of the freshest salmon that tasted like it was flown in from Japan. Then of course I needed something sweet so I opted for a giant pancake with an amazing compote to match. It was so large I ended up sharing it with someone nearby because it was their birthday. Ordered a cortado to match and didnt expect it to be the beat coffee I had in LA (single origin + homemade almond milk) YUM.

Food and staff are great! However, an unexpected 2 hour wait on a random Sunday for food is a complete waste of personal time and a whole day. Being a restaurant that has been around for some time now, they need to figure out a more efficient way for their customers to wait and order and then have the food served. I totally understand and expect to wait for weekend brunch, but having to wait 50 minutes for 2 breakfast plates after waiting 1 hour to order is quite ridiculous. Its a shame that the lack of operations overshadowed the tasty food and the hardworking staff in my overall experience.

Make sure you are comfortable eating on the sidewalk. This place is good for simple dishes that are done extremely well. We got the almond and ricotta cake, the berry double baked croissant, the morn breakfast sandwich and the famous ricotta toast. The almond and ricotta cake was the biggest let down, it was like a light lemon pound cake. Not what you expect from the name, and not all that special, but still good. The croissant was extremely dense, when you think of a croissant you dont think of pound cake but that is basically the density of this thing. The jam and berries made this item a tasty dessert for breakfast. Next was the morn breakfast sandwich, it was hard and strange but tasty. It is an English muffin, hash brown, scrambled egg, and a cheese sauce, the hash browns were very hard after being fried which means that when you take a bite most of the sandwich will spill out the other side, and if you try to cut it the entire sandwich will slide around the plate. The egg was scrambled but was dense because it was missing the air folded into it. The cheese was like a cross between a fondue and American cheese, strange but tasty. The ricotta toast was tasty, but unfortunately they burnt the toast so it kinda ruined the first bite of the dish. However without the burnt crust it is an extremely tasty toast.

I ve been here a few times and the food is definitely good (though overhyped for sure). The service is not great. Food always takes a very long time to come out, no one had wiped down our table. And when I asked about an update on our order (just one dish) I was told 40 minutes I was a bit surprised and asked to confirm and the server said to me that this is peak service so yes 40 minutes. Which, sure, but it was said in a way that came off as dismissive and rude and like I was the rude one for asking. 40 min for a non sit down restaurant is really pushing it.

This review is about two of Sqirls staff mistreatment of delivery drivers like myself: Picked up a delivery here earlier today and there was a female server I encountered that was rude af. There is also another rude lady whos usually behind the register but was not there today, thank goodness, but I guess she got replaced by a clone. Both RUDE. AS F. I reduced taking jobs here because of the reguster lady and even avoid driving by there so I dont ruin my day even though I live less than a mile away. The PTSD lordddd have mercy. Whatever. This server (pic) however got to me because, after our brief interaction, she appeared to go inside and toy with a tablet /iPad that might have had my info/driver profile. She looked over at me as if to study me or something. We made eye contact. It was awkward. But my concern is that she may have blocked me or somehow rated me lower, etc. Which was not fair because all I did as you will see below is ask her to help me with my order. And if I do find that out, just understand that I will work my damnest to fight it. Please believe that! Im a proud union actor and Im working my butt off to survive this strike. Rude and nasty people like this server deserve to be put on blast! So. I have picked up orders from Sqirl before, perhaps 6-8 or more times. I live about a mile away and Im familiar with the place and know that our pick up is inside, but today the gentleman in white (and a very professional and kind one at that - thank you to him as well as another sweet, sweet guy who usually wears his long dark hair in a ponytail) was on the phone and I didnt want to crowd the entry area (as someone was delivering items), so I waited outside where this server happened to be. I heard her say something to the effect of do you need any help? and so I turned, asked if she worked there (because I wasnt sure if she was talking to me or others walking around and staff doesnt seem to wear uniform). She said yes, so I pulled my phone up to her and said, yeah Im pick- and before I could finish my sentence, she interrupted, pointed to counter area and said with the crudest, nastiest tone pick up inside so I said well, you were asking if I needed help. I was just asking I walked inside and got my stuff and as I was leaving I see her on the iPad. But I write this not to be a tattle tail, but to remind businesses that even though I am a mere disposable delivery driver, the more I and my fellow service providers get mistreated the less drivers will want to do this job and eventually businesses will have to go the expensive route to fulfill orders. And not to mention that I have to now completely decline orders from here if Im not blocked - with this place because I dont want to this type of tension. And of course I will never recommend a place like this ever to try it for the food or for pickups to my driver friends. This gig is so stressful as it is. Trying to find parking w/out getting tickets and driving safely in the jungle that is L.A., is challenging, but to show up w/all the enthusiasm only to be talked down to is just so sad and pathetic.

Order at the counter door on the left and grab a seat or order takeout at the pantry door on the right. There s always a few specials on the board as well. All time favorite is the Salmon Sorrel Rice. It s a fixation at this point. Their new coffee drink in the photo features a most incredible made-from-scratch-with-expensive-tasting-vanilla syrup. I usually like my coffee black but this was a delightful cold treat. Some of the staff are nice, others are grouchy. They re doing the whole we work somewhere cool thing so don t take it personally. Enjoy!

AMAZING!!! Such a delicious, creative, and quirky brunch place! Even starting with the drinks, they were very unique. The red juice was very unique and I can see an audience for it, though I am personally not a fan of the spicy ginger taste. However, I LOVED the strawberry matcha even though I am usually not the biggest matcha person. They serve it starting with matcha on top and strawberry milk on the bottom, and even sipping just the pure matcha layer the flavor is so strong and fresh you can t not love it. Then you mix with the strawberry milk layer below and the whole drink has a lovely sweet earthy flavor. Also cannot rave enough about their donut of the day. When we went it was a citrusy donut with lemon/orange flavored icing, a donut hole in the middle, topped with dried orange slices and clementines and flowers. The texture of the donut was so light and fluffy and the icing was sweet but not overpowering. When sally met sally was also quite good. I really liked the texture of the bread, which had an abundance of nuts and even quinoa. When we went they were out of lox, but it was still good. The thick cut brioche bun was excellent on the special BLT was so good; the baked goods are really excellent here. Sorrel pesto bowl was also good but not as amazing as the other dishes despite being one of the Sqirl classic dishes. Line was not too long either! Would come back.

Love the ambience and food! Although busy, the line moved fast and we were able to get a seat after we placed our order. Everything from the kitchen looks really good. Will for sure to return and try other items on the menu!

I visited this restaurant yesterday with high expectations, but unfortunately, my dining experience was overshadowed by the poor cashier service. The cashier was super nice to the people who ordered before us, but less patient with me. I m not sure is it because of me asking to many stupid questions to the cashier since it s my first time here. Anyway, he doesn t look happy to work here. I really regret that I tipped $5 to the cashier. The food is decent, big portion, and healthy. Parking is okay, we re lucky to find a street parking.

Was in the midst of a pseudo cannonball run from the Bay to San Diego and back again to pick something up and stopped here, with a trailer attached no less. Well worth it. Amazing food, really great staff...if youre in the area, go here. And if you live in the area, youre lucky.

Got the Sally not Sally which was really good, simple but fresh, good quality ingredients. The famous brioche with rainbow jelly, though, was not to our taste as much. We tough the jams were too sweet and the brioche lacked crunchiness. Their bakery is really good, I bought some bread and olive oil after my meal.

2.5/5 stars. It was really busy but we were able to find seating outdoors. Parking was a nightmare as per LA usual. There was a rude cashier (well-groomed, brunette guy with a beard) who was very sweet to the couple who ordered right before us, but very passive-aggressive and cold to my friend and I. He was staring at the kiosk screen when I was deciding how much to tip; I regret giving him $5 and would very much like my money back. I despise the Karens of hipster brunch spots but that guys attitude made me empathize with them. The food took about 15 minutes to come out, and the servers were much more kind and agreeable than the cashier. We got the Stella Bowl, Ricotta toast, and a cocoa drink. The food was okay, but I dont think it was worth the price or portion size. There are many cuter and affordable brunch spots in other areas (I recommend Larchmont). Id recommend if youre willing to splurge on a mediocre millenial-influencer brunch, but I would not come back.

Definitely great food. The service was ok. It s more stand in line get a number and then they bring it to you. Most of everything else is self service. It was a crowded Sunday but the wait wasn t too long. It seemed a bit chaotic.

Ordered an ice mocha and the brioche toast w/ a variety of their jams. I really liked trying each of the jam. The jams were really good! The toast wasn t too soft or too crispy either and was easy to cut through without it crumbling apart or causing the jam to fall off. A really nice spot to come for a quick bite or chill brunch with friends. Wasn t busy when I visited on Monday morning which was nice. One of the workers was nice too as he greeted us and helped my buddy regarding the menu and narrowed his decision on an order.

The food here is creative and absolutely delicious! I honestly have no better way to describe how scrumptious the chocolate croissant and the salted rye chocolate chip cookie was. The eggs were cooked to perfection and their breads are so loaded with flavor you will be content to eat them with nothing on them.

I cannot comprehend the negative reviews. The food was outstanding, mouthwateringly good. Got shakshuka, omelette, famous ricotta toast with rainbow of jams, earl grey bun, pain au chocolat, and a bunch of other pastries. DELICIOUS. Great service but you order at the counter! Loooooove this place can t wait to return and try everything. It s not cheap so be prepared before you go otherwise you could be caught off guard. But filling!

Hands down my new breakfast destination whenever Im in LA. In addition to playing great music and having an overall unpretentious vibe, this place is winning at everything (at least the stuff I ordered). - great coffee (black) served with a little pot to keep my refill warm. - New School was killer! Perfect soft scrambled eggs, amazing flavor, and silky with slight texture. The green sauce on the side was so tasty! Maybe tomatoes and pickled jalapenos? My first time having rugbrød toast, hearty and flavorful, nice pairing with the eggs and ham. The ham! Thinly sliced and fried so it was like crispy bacon in some area. Even the side salad (shu greens) was something to be remembered, fresh greens of all kinds with a light vinaigrette that had complexity. Maybe dill or pepper or fennel? Wish I could try more things on the menu! Took home a blueberry lemon tart with a layer of poppyseeds on the bottom, great balance of sweet and tart. And the pistachio raspberry cake, very decadent and pistachio forward for sure. SQIRL is worth the stop even if its a little out of the way.

They have some great food, but lots of items on the menu that are ok at best. Service is also pretty bad. We waited about 35 minutes for our food after ordering. The indoor area was also super loud, and not clean. Plates would be picked up by staff, but nothing wiped down.

Short review: underwhelmed. If youre coming here because of the hype and you really love food and are doing an LA food tour ... No need to come here . But this is your choice . Long review: I wouldnt post a review like this for a mom and pop place with just a few reviews. But, theyre physically small But I expected much more than what I was given and theres this big part of me thats still irked about my famed ricotta toast and ginger and lemon tea. After visiting, i took it to Instagram to ask my followers if I did something wrong with my order if I was supposed to order eggs or something. They said the service is usually bad here, I had really great service and everyone was kind (5 stars for that) and the food is underwhelming and its just a hipster scene (but all of LA feels like a hipster scene ) The atmosphere was generic and chill, gave them 5 for that. What should have tipped me off was the fact that there was no line at this establishment and there were crazy long lines elsewhere. But Ive always wanted to have breakfast here. For over $20 I got some brioche that was underwhelming, I love ricotta cheese and there was definitely too much of it and the jams were good but I didnt have to drive 15 minutes out of my way before heading to the airport. My ginger lemon tea actually burned my mouth. I wasnt sure if they put way too much lemon or they used a store-bought lemon juice. I tasted no ginger.
