I still really like it his cafe, but something has changed. I hope they are just working out kinks. For one, there has been a staff turnover on the front end. When I order a cortado, the guys consistently make me an 10oz latte or serve the cortado in too large a cup with too much milk. This has happened the last 4 or 5 times. Ive been coming to Trails on an almost weekly basis since they reopened. Also the quality of drip coffee has gone way down; its not very good anymore. On the positive side the baked stuff is just as delicious as it always has been. The Trails was almost perfect up until the last year. I hope they can recover what made me and my friends always excited to return. *** Original review from 2021: *** This is the best cafe for miles. The coffee and pastries are amazing, the baristas do latte art, they make their own almond milk (?!?) and its owned by the city. To say nothing of the amazing ambience, I cant get over how good a coffee shop in the middle of a city park is. Good freakin job, yall.

This establishment ruins the whole atmosphere of the park. You would expect it to be comfortable and high-quality in the center of Los Angeles and one of the best parks in the city. But! There is no quality here, and the service staff is just terrible, with no professionalism at all. Why even open such a cafe?! The tables are in disarray, just like the cafe itself, and its clear that no one wants to make it better. I say this as a local resident and a frequent park visitor. It seems the owner doesnt care about the customers, nor does the staff. I wont spend another penny here. Its a pity that a normal person didnt take charge of this place. The location is just great!!! The establishment is just awful

Want to get connected with nature and have an amazing meal! This was just what er needed on our hike. The food was so fresh and delicious. You still can connect with nature while getting healthy food. Very kid workers, and it was nice that they provided water for free. If you are hiking, take the time to get more energy and good food!

Such a pleasant & welcome surprise nestled under the trees in Griffith Park. The perfect starting point before a hike or stop afterwards. Beautiful location and tasty bakery items as well as a menu of meal & drink options such as coffees & teas. The chocolate chip cookies, yes please. Or a raspberry or lavender shortbread are really good. try the oatmeal cookies. Lots of picnic tables in sunny & shady spots. Chess is played here too (on Sundays) on a picnic table in back, serious chess with a timer. Wifi available for those who must... Theyre closed Tuesday & Wednesday but I still stopped by to read a book. Theres street parking and they have a parking area too, go up the driveway to the lot. Currently they close at 5pm-ish.

Fantastic little coffee booth with a few outdoors sitting. I had a wonderful lavender and chocolate scone, as well as coffee and a granola cup, after a long hike to the Hollywood sign. Definitely was a lovely pick-me-up after walking. The vibe there is really great, just under the tall trees.

The food is really good. The cheddar and chive biscuits and frittata were really good, but the frittata was cold after about the second bite. The cappuccino was also good, but not hot, mine was lukewarm. I wouldve asked for reheating, but the line was so long that I didnt bother. Had my food and coffee been hot, I wouldve given five stars. If you dont want to stand in line for 15-20 minutes and wait an additional 10-15 min for your cappuccino, latte, etc., get there as early as possible. If you get there around 10 or later, be prepared to wait.

Woodland outdoor setting with picnic style shaded seating. Its beautiful and simple. Its nice to have a snack shack when youre on a hike/walk; no question about it. Food is good, nothing special. Pricey at $8.25 for a PB&J or $12 for Avocado sandwich. Service could use some cheer or a smile. Atmosphere: Gorgeous Fern Dell you cant beat it!

The 2 young white male workers here were extremely rude. One was cussing the whole time just because a couple passing through said they had their car parked in the lot (they needed the handicap parking.) One of the male employees told them they aren t allowed to park there and need to leave, they kept explaining they have a handicap parking spot, he said ok and they said thank you and walked to their car. As soon as they walked away, he started cussing for them to get the F-out and called them F n idiots, all while I m waiting for my coffee to be made. His colleague was making my coffee and talking to him about the customers and how stupid he thinks they all are because they park in the wrong spots. They both had a full on conversation talking poorly about each customer they encountered, all while I m standing there. The one that was upset about the couple, was also slamming everything as he was closing down shop. Even when I ordered my coffee, I asked to sub the milk for almond milk. The one who went off on the couple took my order and asked if I wanted boxed almond milk or another kind, tbh I didn t know the difference so I told him I m not sure. He rolled his eyes and went ok then boxed and his coworker yelled oh we got another, ANOTHER ONE really as he was preparing my drink. Extremely uncomfortable and obvious that these 2 entitled brats don t have common courtesy for the people they service. This is definitely a place to avoid if around the Griffith park area. I truly came here because I saw videos of this place and wanted to try it out, but after experiencing this and considering that I m a totally different race this felt uncomfortable, inconsiderate, and degrading. Do not come here. Not worth the visit and humiliation that was felt.

We love this place. At the foot of the Ferndell observatory loop it offers healthy sandwiches fresh lemonade and some tasty snacks. On hot days theres usually a line and theyre not open Mondays. But theyre definitely dog friendly with the water bowl and treats at the window if you ask - or your dog asks. Weve seen this place transition over the years and it is really become a nice place to sit out and enjoy the park at one of the picnic tables, up in the hay Circle or just under the trees. Nice friendly people too. But shhhh. Or else it will be overrun with tourists

We love this place. It had been a favorite stop with the kids when they were young after a beautiful stroll through Ferndell. We hadn t been there in years and it did not disappoint. The baked goods, the lemonade, the avocado sandwich and snakedog (an all beef hotdog, wrapped in a flakey pastry). Just a minutes long walk from the bustling streets of LA and your transported away to Big Bear or some other mountain retreat, but with the kind of top notch little trays you d expect from some of the Los Felix eateries a stones throw away. Whether you are finishing your journey here, spending some time with the kids at the adjacent playground, or taking the short trail up to Griffith Observatory, it s well worth the stop!

Have you read Chirri & Chirra? Starting from the bear statue and the ferndell trail and stopping at the cafe is so magical just like the story! All the food I have had and pastries are amazing. The biscuits are full of flaky layers, the apple tartine is perfectly balanced, the scones are texturally perfect. My only complaint is the lemonade is more natural than sweet so skip it for the kids. All in all a perfect stop.

They do not provide a itemized list of your purchase leaving you to presume the person taking your order has keyed in the items correctly and that youre being charged correctly. Ive always been provided an itemized bil at every other retail establishmentl, and Ive found that clerks have made mistakes in the past keying in purchases that shoukd not have been included. And since this is the very 1st time this has happened, I have to believe there must be a city or other legal requirement to provide a customer an itemized bill showing what the customer is paying for. The itemized bill should NOT remain exclusively in the hands of the seller as they have a vested interest in opposition to the buyer. If that is indeed a requirement, then this establishment is in violation. If this is not currently a requirement, it should be, even if only displayed electronically and wuth the customer then giving assent to the charge. I hope management will respond to this review, if not, I intend to take this up with whichever city department is in charge.

Ive been to the cafe twice and both times there was a LONG wait to place an order. The last time we waited 20 minutes and in the end we gave up, because we had to be somewhere else. There were barely 10 people in front of us (some together - so maybe 6-7 orders), but the line just wasnt moving and there was no sense of urgency from the staff. The food seems to take a long time to come out too and the menu is VERY limited. The cafe has an amazing location, which is surely what keeps it so busy. Such a shame, there could be a much better operator running it and it would be unbelievable.
