Café De Olla Restaurant
About the Company

We offer Traditional Mexican/American food and are home of the famous Chilaquiles Poblanos and the popular cinnamon fuzzed coffee “Café de Olla”.

Many of our guests have become regulars in just a few months, and many of the regulars have become great friends.
Our passion to serve a traditional home-style dish that brings memories and creates a story in every dish we prepare.

Maybe that’s the secret to it all, that we cook every dish individually for all our guests and care that they enjoy the freshness, quality and taste for which they came to dine with us.
We love great food and sharing the experience of it with others is what it’s all about!

Absolutely love this place but they need to work on these prices. 5.50 for a sprite is egregious. I get living here and everything is expensive in Cali but they have to do better. The Chilequiles is fantastic but a bit difficult to justify the price to come often.

¡Cade de Olla! Café, azúcar, y piloncillo, Wow! What a combination. The service was very nice. The staff, each and every one of them, are attentive and very nice. My coffee was refilled four times! B E A U T I F U L ! I had the rib eye egg sandwich and my wife had a ham and egg plate. We were offered pan dulce as well and that was cool. Overall Im happy I came here to Monrovia. Thank you and God bless you.

Excellent Nutella pancakes and appropriate helping of eggs, ham, and potatoes. The place is cute and love the quotes on the wall. I gave it a 4 stars because my iced tea was $5.50. That s price gouging. The pancake meal was appropriated at $18.00. Otherwise, if I m in the area, I ll be back and drink water instead.

I recommend the birria plate. Wow. One time about a year ago, my wife stopped here and picked it up for me on a whim, for no other reason than she googled places that serve birria. It waited in the fridge for me until I got home from work and holy moly, it was amazing. So much so, I told her we need to visit this place together because this was more than good, this was worth a special trip. So now, I ve brought my wife and we tried the iced coffee. I still firmly believe the birria is perfect (quality of the meat is super high, flavor is perfect) the salsa they serve on the side actually has some spice and isn t some weak excuse. Service was great, the guy serving us was very attentive and went above and beyond for us. I will definitely be making this a regular go to for me.

This place has horrible service when it comes to getting a table. I added my name on the waitlist and waited for more than an hr to hear back if my table was ready, but instead I get a text message saying I was taken off the list. When I arrived and asked why my name was taken off the girl at check in (not very helpful at all) said I had to be added again and wait 50-70 mins again are you kidding me??? Horrible experience and horrible way of doing waitlist service.

Today, our family had a special occasion and decided to celebrate the event at Cafe de Olla. We come here often, so picking this place was an easy decision as the food and service are always on point and today was no different. We had gender reveal for my daughter and her bf, and the staff understood the assignment. Anthony was our server, and he was great being attentive and making sure we had everything we needed. They were kind enough to store a cake we brought in the fridge and brought out extra plates and utensils when the time came. Management was great and assisted Anthony with anything he needed. Thank you, Cafe de Olla staff, for going above and beyond.. you guys are awesome.

I recently visited a breakfast restaurant that was clean and well maintained. The service was excellent, and the food was phenomenal. My experience felt like being at home, having breakfast cooked by my mom. The cafe de olla was so good, and the chilaquiles verdes con huevo were delicious. Before your meal arrives, they bring out a sweet bread/pan dulce cart for you to pick from, and theyll add it to your tab for $2 each. I do not regret this choice one bit! I would come back often!

My family of 4 and I, a total of 5, have already eaten here for the 3rd time. The food is delicious but one problem is that they always forget something on the dish, either the meat for the chillaquiles or no grains in the pozole or tortillas for the dish, and we never make a complaint because I know they are busy, but I already know It is VERY DISRESPECTFUL that we barely have been eating for 40 minutes and the waiters are already passing by asking if they are taking the plate away when there is still food on the plate. One comes here to live together and have a peaceful time and to get out of the daily routine of ones own kitchen/house so that the waiters are rushing us one spends money and gives a good tip but NOT to eat in 30 minutes and they are running us away by raising our dish ahead of time . THEYRE CRAZY WHATS HAPPNING TO RESTAURANTS TODAY. I WILL NEVER COME BACK HERE!!!!!

Consistent ratings on all factors here, once we came in we asked if we need to be seated or ordered at the counter. It could be seen either way and we weren t greeted so that didn t lead us one way or another. First guy was hard to get an answer from so we finally talked to the hostess. We got seated and a waiter come over after a while. My drink came and it was wrong, I double checked with my party of four that I did order correctly. They remade it and after drinking our drinks it took a long time and several visits to table to get refills. We ordered pastries to try from the cart, the muffins weren t the most moist and the danish we got we didn t eat as it had no flavor. The food flavor and quality was mediocre at best. I wouldn t return to this establishment. It also seemed warm in here too, was hoping to come in and cool down after being out in the sun for hours. Parking: You have to find parking where you can and it is challenging.

First time here and never again. Took my daughter and 2 grandsons. Our waitress went on break and told us a waiter would assist us. Never did anyone come out to see if we needed anything. I had to go in and get my own boxes and the bill. It got windy out and dust all over our food so there went that. The umbrella came inches of hitting me. I did make the manager aware of everything and he could have cared less. $90 bill with no tip for 2 adults and 2 toddlers. This place is over priced and over rated. Such a shame the customer service even from management is poor.

My mom and I waited for 10 minutes throughout which 3 employees passed by and no one acknowledged we were there. Mind you one of them was busy making drinks. No hello or we ll be right with you or anything. A simple hello give me a moment and/or I ll be right with you goes a long way. One employee came to the front and stared at her phone and called someone and started talking on the phone as if they didn t have waiting customers. VERY RUDE! Thankfully there s a Merengue up the street and we decided to take out business there where it is appreciated.

Hash browns were crispy and delicious. The omelette was a little dry. Avocado on top was yummy. Cafe de Olla - $4.95 - Deliciously cinnamon-y and satisfying. No cream needed. However, I liked the sweetness of the churro waffle and the chilaquiles poblano tasted better. I really wanted to like this place but unfortunately, I won t be going back because it is pricey. Went in for lunch on a weekday and we were seated right away. I had the chorizo breakfast burrito, which was just too salty. Which lead to other issue, service. Needed many refills on my iced tea, but our server was hard to get a hold of. I finally asked a passing staff member for a refill and they took care of it. The other issue is noise. Its a big open space so noise and echoes make it hard to hold a conversation. Parking: Monrovia is a victim of its success. Street spots were full as well as the closest lot. Usually this isnt a problem, but Im in a knee brace right now and walking 3 or 4 blocks wasnt an option. Wheelchair accessibility: Single level and wide aisles

They seated us right away (Monday 10 am). Perhaps they were understaffed, but I felt everyone was rushed and barely stopped at our table. (I ordered huevos con chorizo) Rice and corn tortillas had dried/hard spots (rice undercooked and refrigerated/old/microwaved tortillas). I am guessing the main thing at this spot is the sweet bread ( I didnt get one). But everyone else seemed to enjoy their food.

The food was simply delicious. The salsa in the chilaquiles divorciados were very nice in flavor, not too acidic or too spicy, and the cafe de olla was very fragrant, cinnamon-y and delicious. The atmosphere is very nice and my family and me really enjoyed how they walk around with a cart of pan dulce for your convenience. The elote flan was phenomenal! The wait was quite long though, so prepare for that, but the food was definitely worth it.

Nothing espectacular. Red Chilaquiles were terrible. The sauce tasted like sauce out of a can. No flavor. Our table was place right outside the kitchen and next to waiters pantry. Rude. The waiting time is horrible. The service is average. I had to get up and get napkins and request coffee refill.

I wanted to share what a nice breakfast we had and our server Kirby was excellent. If you read my other review, we came from the Peach Cafe where they refused to service us because my mom had brought in her to go cup of coffee. Not only did Café Olla Welcome us and graciously seat us, midway through our breakfast Kirby offered to refill my mom s coffee complimentary. This is what I call going over and beyond 5 stars

The food was very delicious, but during the waiting times to be assigned a table with a lot of lack of control, they passed on to several people who arrived after us

We came here to celebrate my daughters birthday. It was hot out, and the air conditioner didn t work inside so it was quite uncomfortable but we stayed anyway I ordered breakfast came with coffee and the coffee came out cold and didn t taste good. My breakfast was OK. My daughter ordered a chicken pesto sandwich and asked to add bacon., Her sandwich came and didn t have bacon. We were not able to get servers attention to let them know.. My son had a hamburger, fries and milkshake and enjoyed it. My wife had chicken pesto sandwich and enjoyed it. When the receipt was dropped off there was charge for bacon. We got servers attention and told him we didn t get bacon. He went to the kitchen and returned advising confirmed kitchen forgot. Glad kitchen was honest as appeared the server didn t believe us. The restaurant has a bakery and we told them it was her birthday. It was our first time here and thought they could give recognition of her special day.

This is a well maintained medium sized family restaurant. The food tasted fresh. I ordered the Temptation waffle. It would have been perfect but, the whip cream was of a cake frosting consistency. I was told when the order was brought to the table they had run out of whipped cream. Kirby our server did his best to get what he could. The restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. It is located in the heart of downtown Monrovia. Parking is available on the street and surrounding areas. The service is standard and the prices are competitive.

The hot Cafe de la olla was amazing. My family tried the chocolate flan and it was okay, but they raved about the cafe de la olla flan. The staff was polite and efficient. Its not local for me, but I will definitely be back. :)
