Been coming here for over a decade then started going to Korean restaurants instead . Coming back here brings back so many memories but more importantly, happy to say that it was just as good! It did not deteriorate… although situated in a small mall , once you stepped inside, it mades me feel like I am back in Japan because in Japan, many of the restaurants are this tiny.. the chau siu pork rice bowl is phenomenal! Japanese fried rice is different than the Chinese but it is just as delicious but with more of a Japanese flavor and of course, the ramen is amazing!!!!

I was craving ramen, this spot popped up and I was fully satisfied.
I ordered their Daikoku ramen with black garlic oil. The noodles were great along with the broth. Overall as a ramen it was delicious and the quality was up there. The fried squid was also delicious when paired with their sauces.
I’d definitely come back here again to try their other menu items.

I’m not sure how they wash their dishes, but when they brought mine out, it had a strong, fishy odor that made it unusable. Then, my takoyaki arrived—two pieces were burnt, had a strange smell, and were super oily, although the inside was well-seasoned.
Next was the roll. The rice was mushy and not rolled tightly, so it fell apart as soon as I picked it up. The only redeeming part was the side of ginger, which was really good.
When my ramen arrived, I was surprised to see instant noodles in the broth instead of the traditional round noodles. The broth was also way too salty. To top it off, the next day, I had an upset stomach and had to take medication. 🫤
I definitely won’t be coming back.

Ordered a side of Takoyaki and their signature Daikoku Ramen and asked for the richer Kotteri flavor option. This is their tonkotsu soup which included pork belly chashu, marinated boiled egg, bamboo shoots, bean sprouts, green onions, and a sprinkle of sesame seeds. The kotteri flavor option gives the broth a much more fattening flavor, still as refreshing to drink and to be absorbed by the noodles. The noodles here are a good portion and very tasty, a good balance between some chewiness and softness to the quality. The pork chashu is very tender, the marinated egg was not very runny and close to being hardboiled. If you're feeling like it needs some salt, the bamboo shoots have a strong saltiness to them that works as a side to the noodles. The takoyaki was well presented with an overflow of bonito flakes on top. The takoyaki octopus pieces were moderate in size but the batter is very good. The sauce is the right amount drizzles on top and the bonito flakes are a lot but a welcome finishing piece. The atmosphere is very cozy with strong Japanese influences from the wooden decor to the tables and meal presentation. Staff are very kind and understanding with any difficulties. There is enough parking in this plaza area. It does get busy but there were seats available to immediately be seated later into the night.

Update**** Spicy miso ramen is back baby. It might not be the best ramen in the world but its definitely my favorite. I ate it today and it was as good as when I first tried it. Thank you guys!! ----------------------------------------------------------------- Did the spicy miso ramen recipe change? Before this would have been a 5 star review for me. Recently, like the last 6 months or so, the spicy miso ramen changed. I used to love the other one so much. It was my favorite ramen by far. I still come often to see if the old flavor is back but sadly it hasnt returned. Luckily the little salad, and the mix poke bowl are still delicious. Im hopeful that the old recipe will return, otherwise Ill have to find another favorite ramen. Attached photo is how the old spicy miso ramen used to look. I miss it

Order number: 83 Vegan tomato Ramen. Pro: speed of service, high quality noodles Con: over price. For the same price we could have ordered a Ramen with eggs, pork, bamboo shoot etc. Just because the name of the Ramen has the word vegan on it does not mean give vegan customers less food and cost extra. Warning! Do not order Vegan tomato Ramen!

I have been going to this super Japanese restaurant for so many years. I have taken family, friends, and clients. Have never ever had anything but fantastic service, top of the line authentic Japanese food at very reasonable prices. I lived in Asia for many years and this place reminds me of the smaller restaurants with great homestyle food. I lived/worked in Asia for 20+ years. The staff are really professional and know when to come check on you and your guests. Fernando has been the super at handling guests and has always found a way to keep my guests super happy. So professional and knowledgeable for all the different menu items. Thank you to Fernando and the rest of the staff.

This place used to be better but something must have happened when I went yesterday. The kitchen forgot to add my ramen egg and the broth was unusually scuzzy. Like goop coated my tongue. Like when water used to boil the blood off of Bones is also used to make the broth. Weird. I ordered the daikoku ramen with kotteri and extra pork with black garlic oil. They used to have very few dishes, which highlighted the great quality of the house ramen bowl. Maybe theyre doing too much now

Horrible service. Young Asian waitress had an attitude problem with my party and lacked hospitality. She got upset when I asked her about the yakisoba and responded in a conceited manner about how that location didn t have it. Our party felt that the service was extremely poor compared to the Sawtelle location. Possible discrimination against us since we had no Asian people in our party. Mediocre ramen from a decent chain. Had much higher standards for Daikokuya, but everything tasted old, broth was bland, and noodles soggy.

Ive gone to Daikokuya SO many times when I was a student and lived in this area over a decade ago. I recently came back since I was in the area and decided to take my family. I have to say, it still remains one of the best ramen joints Ive ever been to. The Daikokuya ramen has an incredibly flavorful broth that just hits the spot every time. Of course, prices have gone up, but thats expected everywhere nowadays. The location is still very small, with space for maybe four small tables and some bar seating. We were lucky to arrive around 5:30 PM when it wasnt too crowded, but it did get busier as we were leaving. I remember as a student, the wait times here could easily be an hour on a busy night. One plus is the ample parking, as the rest of the building doesnt have many active businesses. If youre in the area and craving authentic Japanese ramen, I highly recommend stopping by Daikokuya!

I ate the Daikokuya ramen for lunch and give it a 3/5. It overall tasted good but I didn t like how I had a clump of ramen that was sticking together, the chashu was too thin, and it is about $20 including taxes and tip which is very expensive.

Our family visited while on vacation and had high hopes based on the star rating, but we were disappointed with our experience overall. The best part was the quickness and quality of the service provided by our server. I do not want this review to reflect poorly on her. However, we were unimpressed by the food. We actually have much better Ramen restaurants back home in Michigan. We all had daikokuyas tonkatsu broth and thought it was just okay. But then my son discovered a dead moth in his broth and lost his appetite. The offending bug didnt just fall in, it got cooked in the broth. This raises questions about kitchen cleanliness. When asked, we shared this concern with our server who offered to discount my sons bowl. I assumed this meant 100% off, but it ended up only being 50% off. Considering that all that broth probably comes from the same pot, meaning everyone in that restaurant who ordered that broth probably got moth broth, it should have been discounted 100%. But at that point we just wanted to leave and I didnt want to make a bigger deal out of the situation in a small space with lots of people around. Parking: There was easy access to parking adjacent to the restaurant just steps away. Traffic, however, was a bit dicey as we were nearly hit by a car traveling much faster than was safe while attempting to back out of our parking space.

Extremely dirty. I got sat by the bar at the very first seat when you walk in and just look up and around you. Everything is extremely dusty and dirty. You can tell that they don t clean the muck around that place, what does that tell you about the sanitation of the restaurant itself? It tells you everything you need to know: That this place is run by shortcut takers. In addition, if you sit in the same exact seat I reference above you ll find that if you look to the right there s a squished cockroach against the wall. I guess the bug juices made it stick there.

My first time when I tried here, it was 10 years ago. This place has been here for a long time, and that proves how decent the food is. But I really wish they remodeled the inside because the bathroom is really bad, and the inside is really tight and small. Food wise, I recommend trying food on the menu other than ramen. I usually get takoyaki, sausage, or karaage, and Im always happy with it. Vegetarian options: They have a few menu that are vegetarian and even vegan. Good place if your friend is not vegetarian. Parking: They have ground floor parking and also big underground parking

I was introduced to ramen at Daikokuya through my awesome boyfriend . I instantly fell in love with the intense, spicy, and flavorful broth and delicious noodles. Daikokuya is my go to place when I first introduced family and friends to ramen. Today, I had my usual Spicy Miso Ramen. Its a pork broth base and I dont add bamboo to my soup, but Im told its quite delicious with it too. I added a small cabbage salad with what can taste like a sweet, but good thousand island. If you are a lighter eater and feel the large portion is too much soup for you, I recommend getting the half portion. They only serve it at the restaurant; and not to go. The staff are attentive, and take care of you right away. The Monterey Park location is small, but cozy. They have enough room for around 15 people, and it can get quite crowded after 7-8pm. But in all, Daikokuya is a great spot. Parking: On busy nights, the parking area is quite full. The spaces are slightly compacted.

Today I ordered Daikokuya s signature ramen The other one is to order tsukemen. The two types of noodles are used differently. The signature ramen noodles are thinner and more elastic than the tsukemen noodles. But the texture of tsukemen is chewier and thicker. The overall taste is moderate, not very salty, and not particularly greasy after eating. The portion is really quite large, so don t order too many extra snacks if you have a little stomach, otherwise you will have to take them out. There is also a lot of chopped green onion, so I am very satisfied. However, the fried dumplings are a bit deducted. After all, there is still a big gap compared to Japan. I feel quite satisfied with the overall score. Its convenient for dining and parking. If you dont have a spot, you can check out the outdoor parking lot of Dahua Supermarket opposite.

There are many parking spaces and it is easy to park. It is in a somewhat depressed building and there are many people queuing up. It is as mini as the store in Little Tokyo. It is full and full of atmosphere. I just don t want people to sit for a long time. We ordered I ordered fried tofu, which is different from the traditional style. The tofu itself has ingredients inside and is dipped in Thai sweet and spicy sauce. It is delicious. The fried dumplings are also very good. The ramen itself has a richer taste. There is also a small set of roasted pork donburi. I ate a little bit of everything and thought it was pretty good. Except the toilet is a bit dirty, everything else is good

The service was very quick and our food was ready in less than 5 minutes. The shop itself is tucked away but has ample parking in the sizable parking lot provided. Vegetarian options: Several options for vegetarian only ramen, as well as other menu offerings featuring vegetarian options Parking: Very large parking lot with upward of 40 spaces for the plaza the ramen shop is in. The plaza is not heavily trafficked, and parking should be readily available.

My first time here after hearing so many good things from my husband since he grew up eating at this place. We got the combo which was the noodles, rice with beef and a salad. I got their house special noodles which is the daikokuya noodles. Overall K thought it was ok. The noodles were a bit starchy. But the broth was creamy just enough, although I felt like there wasn t enough char shiu meat in my noodles, just very little and thinly sliced. We also got CA rolls and they were very good. I ll try other dishes next time.

We tried this place after seeing some videos of small hole-in-the-wall restaurants in Japan. This place definitely had that sort of vibe. Inside is kind of small. Maybe 8 counter seats and 3 tables that can seat maybe 10 people. I gave 3 stars for atmosphere because I felt like the decor was lacking something I still cant put my finger on. The food was mostly pretty good. The house ramen was decent. I felt the broth couldve had a little more umph to it. The oyako don and katsu don were very tasty. The fried rice stood out the most. Very flavorful. If I was to go back, it would definitely be for the fried rice and oyako don.

In terms of vibes, it s not very high quality. It s not trashy but it s a lot different from the other Daikokuyas in the area. The outside eating area is a hodgepodge of different tables and chairs. While we were eating, more groups came and it was kind of awkward as they were just waiting around us, as we are seated right outside the door. When we were ready, the server took our orders by memory, and then later gave us the wrong item. They also came with a rice bowl when the other server already brought us one, so it seems they re a bit disorganized. I had a daikokuya ramen with kotteri flavor and a small katsudon. It tasted good, but ramen is a very competitive scene so this was standard ramen. It has 2 pieces of cha shu, one whole soft boiled egg, green onions, and Bamboo shoots. The katsu was dry, but the egg on top was silky smooth. It also came with a small salad that tasted pretty good.

I order two combinations for 3 people. Each combo included their signature ramen, a salad, and a side dish. Our picks were the chicken egg bowl and the pork cutlet bowl. The salad was pretty good. However, the ramen was a bit of a letdown. The two bowls we received were inconsistent. In my case, my bowl was piping hot, but the noodles had an odd floury texture. My girlfriends bowl was lukewarm, and her noodles were chewier than mine. The ajitama, a seasoned egg, didnt quite hit the mark either. While the bowls were a step above the ramen, the sauce they used was a bit too sweet. We waited for approximately half an hour before getting a table. The indoor seating options were limited, but luckily, theres outdoor seating available as well. On the bright side, parking seems to be quite ample.

I just happened to be in the area for work, but felt I should write something after such a good lunch. The ramen is great! Almost a creamy broth, the egg was tasty and cooked perfectly soft. The new black garlic oil topping is also quite tasty. Its a cute little hole-in-the-wall place, limited seating, but very much worth a visit!

I was surprised to see not one, but two vegan ramens featured on this short menu - I opted for the spicy one figuring that it would be the more flavorful, but can attest that both the spicy broth and the white broth vegan ramens (lol) are very flavorful. Significantly better than any vegan ramens Ive had around LA. So get the word out, because this place rules! Its a little hidden but once inside the tiny, low-barred interior feels similar to a hole-in-the-wall noodle bar in Japan. I cant wait to take more friends here!

I got the daikokuya and pork cutlet combo. The salad that came with the combo was really good. The ramen overall was okay. I felt the soup was too heavy and did not have much flavor. Had to add red chili peppers to give it flavor. The noodles were well cooked and was good. The pork cutlet was soggy and undercooked in my opinion. The place was small and not much room to move around. Luckily there was no wait for lunch, but it definitely can get busy quick because only about 15-20 can fit inside. My buddy and I parked on the street, but I can see parking being a issue as well.

Food comes out very fast. Although I hope the customer service can be slightly better :( The waiter did not recall the order to make sure our order is right. So I ended with extra ramen when I said I just want one. She insisted that I told her otherwise and gave me attitude and said they already did it. She then started being sassy, so I just agree with her :( Please train the lady staff with blue hair. The rest were very nice!

What can I say about Daikokuya that has not already been said. To date they have the best ramen Ive ever tasted; which is saying a lot because Im very picky where I eat it. We arrived 30 minutes before closing but the staff was still very friendly and polite; offering up recommendations to the best experience. We got our food to go as we have an energetic 5 year old we need to put to bed. Definitely will be back to check out the ambiance and enjoy some more ramen.

This is my go to local ramen place whenever Im craving some authentic, flavorful, and filling food. I highly recommend you get the combo with your ramen I always get cutlet with egg and rice. The ramen is really customizable you can add tons of extras! I always add corn, seaweed, and spicy miso bomb! Also do not forget the sides they have a great variety I usually go for a sushi roll or takoyaki. They also have dry options if youre not feeling soups like rice bowls topped with teriyaki chicken. They also have great beers on tap so if you wanna wash it all down with a refreshing cold brew youve come to the right place. This place is small and intimate but the limited seating combined with its popularity means coming in during the lunch rush or the weekends could leave you with hefty wait time, especially if you want indoor seating. If you dont like waiting or you arent crazy about the cramped seating I recommend maybe calling in and making a phone order for pick up

Noodles so good I didn t even wait to take a photo before digging in! (Or maybe I was just really hungry because we had a long wait to get a table. ) The noodles were really good and the staff are very friendly. Just be prepared to wait a bit for a table as it s a small restaurant and it is very popular.

Recommend the combo. The ramen was not the style I love, but overall it is fine.

Overrated Ramen. Every time I come the broth is too oily. Customer Service was amazing. But the Ramen has definitely gotten worse. Sorry bros that s just my opinion. Wish I could have got my money back. :(

Waited for over 30 min at a cold night. There was a couple having a conversation after they finished eating and paid. This love bird wouldnt leave. I just think that the servers could have nicely asked them to move aside for the next customer. Horrible experience. I am not sure I will be going there anymore. Btw, i was a 15 yr long time customer.

Post pandemic experiences are always tricky. The staffing may be short, but the experience is still there! Came hungry on a Saturday night. Broke the first rule of Daikokuya: came with a large party of 5, and had to wait a premium but knew full well what to expect. After being seated, I knew immediately what to get: Daikokuya Ramen Koteri combo with a Salmon sashimi bowl. The salad came briskly and after engulfing it, the salmon bowl was soon to follow. The main star arrived in a timely fashion. The soup was rich and delicious and the ramen was nice with a bite. Service was polite and quick. Its been a while since Ive been here due to my keto attempts...but man does this place always satisfies my urges.

Best place for ramen with thick. Juicy, succulent flavor. Periot! I got me the spicy ramen with some corn . Had the pitcher for 3. And it was refreshing! Also we ordered the daiko ramen combination comes with salad eel teriyaki, and ramen. I cannot stress how delicious it is here. This is it!

Try Spicy Miso ramen here, thats the best in the menu. You can customise the protein in the ramen. Its a small place, not much sitting capacity within, they have some tables outside as well. Gets pretty crowded in the evening.

Heard about this place from a co worker the place is small lots of Asians I think chinese or Koreans Im Japanese. The waitress seemed rushed not in a pleasant mood from the start food had good presentation I ordered charshu pork a bit salty and the teriyaki flavor was like soy and sugar. My co worker ordered sushi which had 6 pieces or bites. Paid 27 bucks with 8 bucks tip so total 35 and when I gave it to the waitress she didnt even say thank you. I usually dont give low stars but this place I would not recommend or go to again cause it seems like they dont need the business. Anyways, islanders dis place Id stay away from if you looking for choke ono grinds for your hard earned buck and no mo Aloha. So until da next run for killa grinds ahui hou!! Parking: Did not have parking so we parked in the loading zone lucky we had our company truck and had a lady yelling at a man in the parking lot. The stalls are extremely close together so lots of problems with parking dont take a nice car if you dont want dings in your paint.

The food was good! Not the best but definitely worth a try. Bought the spicy sesame ramen which lacked salt and spice in it but adding it made it tasty. Wish there was more veggies in the ramen. The rest were good!

Been to this location just once, past 8pm and it was still very busy. We had to wait in line and didn t mind the wait too much as we always had delicious experience at the WeHo location. Their overall pricing has gone up, but it s reasonable since the inflation and Covid must have taken a toll on them as it did to any other businesses. Got our usual ramen, spicy miso and tonkatsu. The spicy miso was missing the chasiu pork and when reported to the server, she kindly informed the kitchen staff and brought out a dish of chashiu pork slices a bit later on. To our surprise, pork slices were COLD and not pan-fried. Based on my experiences, hot ramen soup always came with cooked-then-freshly-pan-fried chasiu pork slices in it. I get that they re busy, but serving not completely prepared cold pork for hot ramen soup was just a huge turn off! Also both ramen didn t taste as good as the WeHo location. I liked that they were less salty (than WeHo) but the flavors were lacking. I just felt like the ramen broth were not cooked/prepared properly. Based on just one experience (may be it was just a bad day, IDK), we left disappointed. It didn t uphold the quality of Daikojuya that we credited it for. The quality control seemed to be lacking.

Really enjoyed the delightful dining experience from their combo of their rich big bowl pork broth ramen thats cooked to an optimal jing-doh/al-dente, the Japanese cole slaw salad with the Japanese dressing is... the best cole slaw ever(?)... the mini poke bowl in the combo order really satisfies that wider craving! Wheelchair accessibility: From my observation; you cant get any closer, with fewer steps, from parking to dining table, both regular and handicapped at this location.
