Black Bear Diner Murrieta

A little gem. Discovered this place by accident and now I’m hooked. From the cabin like atmosphere to the warm country feel you get when you sit down and take in your surroundings. The staff is friendly, the restaurant is clean and the menu doesn’t let you down. The food is good and the portions are large and let’s not forget the deserts. The blackberry pie is like grandma baked it herself. If you’re in the neighborhood, stop by, you won’t regret it.

This was our 1st visit to the Black Bear Diner in Murrieta and we were not disappointed. Our server Carolyn, greeted us promptly taking our drink request.
As new patrons to BBD we were surprised by the "newspaper style menu".
It was a full menu, with breakfast, salads, soups and full dinner options.
I chose the Shrimp & Cod Dinner combo, which was fantastic! The fish was crispy and delicious, The shrimp was also delicious, Both were partnered with tartar sauce, cocktail sauce, coleslaw and a mound of fries!
The other dishes ordered from the Little Less menu were Bear Paw Chicken Fried Steak , and 2 orders of Santa Maria Tri-Tip.
Sorry but no photos on those but everyone was happy with the portion presentation and taste.
I look forward to future visits of the Black Bear Dinner as there were many menu items I would like to try!

We had a young man who helped us today on Father's Day. He was slow coming to us to get our order for food. The manager came by more often. She got her meals, refilled our drinks. Had hiccup on my steak . And she was back with the perfect steak that I wanted. She was fast and awesome. Thank you for your amazing hospitality. You made Father's Day perfect. The place was great. Nice atmosphere inside. My only flaw was the chicken fried steak is not a true piece of meat dipped in batter and fried. It's more like a frozen thin pre made from a company. If you need a good chicken fried steak, you need to try the SWING INN.on front street temecula. That's a chicken fried steak. It's no comparison to theres.
The vegetables I had where not prepared right. They special cut ( side way slant cut. ) the carrots tooo thin. Which makes them chewy. But all in all I'd go back again to try something else.

The Cheddar soup tasted like flour, and the corn bread was so dense that you couldn't hardly cut it. The steak and broccoli were excellent, and the ice cream was also good.

My family and I have done here many times, but each time we come the food literally gets worse and worse. First time we went we order the corn beef and hash. It was extremely good. The second time we went the food wasn’t seasoned right and I had burdened food. We decided to go ahead again and try it again to see if maybe it was just a fluke, but this time it came out way worse. I was brought my dish and my over easy eggs looks gross. They waitress did apologize for how the eggs looked and she said she was putting in another order since she didn’t like the eggs look, which definitely don’t blame her for that. I did take a picture of the second order of eggs not the first. Those eggs were fine. My husband had the sausage breakfast. After only one bite of his sausage he stopped eating and said this is way too salty. He gave me a piece and OMG I thought I swallowed a salt mine. He immediately took the sausage out and tried to eat again, but he had to stop eating because he could only taste the salt now. Now I do have to say my food was maybe not as bad as his, but it wasn’t great. If you are going to eat here I highly recommend staying away from the sausage or visit just to try the sausage just understand my pain. My daughter had pancakes and she probably had the best meal and we were a little jealous. I’m not sure if we’ll go back again or not. We always keeping trying and hoping it changes because the atmosphere is so pretty. Maybe making sure they taste your own food before sending it out would help and doing a better quality check would help.

Ive lived in Murrieta for 3 years and just recently finally tried Black Bear Diner. LOVE it. It reminds me of a place I used to go to in Big Bear when I was little. The tri-tip french dip is my favorite. The deserts are great too!

Cute restaurant and our family has loved coming in to eat for a few years now. But the food quality has been so inconsistent anymore that it just isn t worth it. Went tonight and I was served overcooked eggs and undercooked potatoes with no flavor. I ordered the grizz which comes with pancakes but was given biscuits and told pancakes were an option . No drink refills were given either. Overall it was a poor (yet costly) visit. Not sure I will be back.

Servers were friendly and efficient. Trainee server needs to be more smiley. We usually have lunch, but today had the Little Less ham and cheese omelet. This was our 1st visit to the Black Bear Diner in Murrieta and we were not disappointed. Our server Carolyn, greeted us promptly taking our drink request. Its such a cute restaurant. So many bear artworks everywhere to look at. The food was good. Highly recommend the country fried steak!! It was DELICIOUS, crispy outside with tender steak inside. Well Ive eaten there twice now and it just seems that all your meats are just package products first was the country fried steak it was packaged its not like swing in where they actually take a piece of meat and dip the batter and Fry good piece of meat for a chicken fried steak and then I win again and tried the prime rib I believe its packaged as well they didnt go make a big roast and slice me off a piece it was came out of packaged Goods so all their food there is fairly cheap for them to buy but they charge you outrageous arm and a leg but the place is beautiful maybe thats what were paying for

This place was very good and really reasonable prices, if you go to fast food restaurants they charge 15.00 for a little combo meal, so why not go get a big fresh burger for the same price, or cheaper! Very good!

Came to Murrieta for a visit. Decided to bring my family into Black Bear Diner because we dont have one in my town or West Covina. I had a New York steak dinner. May I said it was delicious....My wife enjoyed her meal of Luau crisp chicken and a fantastic mimosa (guave,orange flavor) and my daughter had a huckleberry lemonade and a BBQ ribs and chicken dinner. This visit was nothing less than extrodanry because of our wonderful server Margarita. She gave us great service with a smile. Thanks again Margarita. Ill be coming back on my next visit.

Ok, Ill preface by saying that I really love these places and the 5 stars is for Arianna our server and my Reuben with fries was pretty good! However, my buddys order was substandard having the smallest burger patty in the world for a patty melt, I felt so sad for his order. The patty looked like it came from a frozen store bought value pack! Cmon Black Bear!

Our server Daisy was the most attentive and intuitive server we have had in our 2 years in California, bar none. It made me feel at home to have a server seem genuine and happy to help with your meal experience and was probably the single most important way to set up a meal for a positive experience. My coffee was never more than half empty, which is a feat bc I go through about 3 to 4 cups at black bear. She had extra napkins ready and her entire section seemed super happy. Additionally the steak I had with my steak and eggs was th3 best cooked rare steak I had been served in months.

I went to the Menifee store but theyre phones were down so they were forwarded to this Murrieta store, thats why my review is for Sal. My giftcard wouldnt work online so I had to call and he was SO nice and insisted I give my order so he could call and forward it to my location. I felt bad but he no problem...my order was ready at 5:30 on the dot..Plus had me take a free pie. Nothing but the best, AND the food. Thank u

Great place to eat as a family! Big portions of family classics. I love the Chicken Fried Steak with the white gravy for breakfast with over medium eggs, biscuit and hash browns, or lunch/dinner with a veggie and potatoes and extra white gravy. Only down side is no full bar for the after work cocktail. They even have to go Family meals for home eating as a family of for or more. Also, great cake and pie! Yummy too! Parking: Good free parking galore! Kid-friendliness: It is a larger restaurant with big tables for all family sizes and any age of kid or even baby. No issue with noise made by kids. All staff friendly to everyone.

My family and I just enjoyed a wonderful breakfast at the Murrieta location. This was our first experience with any Black Bear Diner and let me tell you, it was great. From the time we walked in until we left nothing but exceptional customer services! The food was great (you will not leave hungry). Nostalgic jukebox played great music which added to an upbeat atmosphere. We definitely plan on returning!!! 10 out of 10. Do yourself a favor and grab a meal from Black Bear Diner!

Nothing says I dont want to do my Job more than taken 5 mins to notice we are waiting to be seating. Then another 10 mins goes by a lady stops and ask has someone taken your drink order we say no, and she says oh let me go call so and so, 10 mins more she comes to take our drink order. Then 25 mins later still nobody comes to take our order so we leave. Sad because we really like this place, maybe its just this location. Do better people

My experience was not great. Our waitress seemed to be a corporate trainer who towed the corporate line. Be prepared to pay extra for croutons and other items that most others would not charge. The person was cold and very brief in interaction. We could hear her scolding staff in the back for putting TO MUCH ingredients in the orders. Dont ask for any substitutions, or you will receive a lecture on how its against corporate policy. I have lost all respect for Black Bear Diner. It is a shame because it was my favorite place to eat. Never again.

Enjoyed the food! The pot roast dinner on the little less menu was delicious. I was a bit concerned because it said the calorie count on it was 180, despite having a serving of mashed potatoes and gravy and a corn muffin!

Customer please be aware! Apparently this is the restaurant where the customer is always wrong. We should had known our server, Arianna was going to be tough when the older gentleman sitting in the booth next to us asked why he had been given less salad than the time before and his sandwich was smaller also. Arianna said well they did it wrong before and didnt offer to help him. He have up. Customer was not satisfied. A couple more pieces of lettuce would have gone a long way in this situation. Then she refuse to substitute the meat in my breakfast since don t eat meat. I would have taken an extra egg or anything cheaper. But no, no substitutions for the plate. A piece of bread would have gone a long way. Then my husband said his sandwich was dry (Reuben sandwich). Then he took a bite of the second half, and it was better. He noticed that they had not spread the dressing and saurkraut evenly. When she came back at the end, my husband told her about the sandwich. She said, Ill tell the kitchen to be more careful. Thats it. We asked if we could have a discount and said no because it was the kitchens fault. Oh well. I guess it was our fault we didnt train the kitchen staff on how to make a proper Rueben sandwich. Also, another party sat next us towards the end of our meal. The female asked for a salad. She asked for croutons, server said that will be extra, what the heck. We will not be returning. Restaurant was pretty empty. Understad why now. Counted about 15 people all together. This restaurant appears to nickel and dime its customers . We have been to other locations in Vegas, Reno, Phoenix, and El Paso, and it is not like this. Were even club members. Had lunch with some friends and Maggie was very sweet on top of her waitressing game Remembered we had a birthday and made sure our birthday girl got recognized. Great place to drop in for lunch. Thank you Maggie

I would like to thank the general manager Yolanda for making our dining experience a positive one. You know the details of our visit and I greatly appreciate you taking it to next level service and going above and beyond to take care of us.. My moms birthday was celebrated today and the memory is now a positive one. This means so much to me and my family. Thank you for being so attentive and gracious to us today. We will definitely be back!

I tried the corn beef hash, and it was overcooked and dry. Waited over an hour for scrappy food. Not a good experience today.

We had breakfast at the Black Bear Diner in Murrieta today and, other than the food which was great, we had the absolute best server, Patty. She was very attentive and friendly and immediately made the environment welcoming. It was really busy in the restaurant, but she was hustling to make sure our needs were still met and our coffee still full. Patty made this regular breakfast experience into an awesome one! The food was also hot, fresh, and delicious.
