I’m bummed to have to jump on here today, but I’m hoping to shed some perspective. I’m a frequent customer of the Vista Black Rock and sometimes find myself at the Oceanside location. The last 3 to 5 times I’ve found myself at oceanside, my experience has been less than stellar. Overall, it just seems that the employees (4-5 on shift) frequently get distracted from work and get caught up in personal conversation. I totally understand light conversation, but when it takes away from the productivity of your job, I start to see a problem. With that, the friendliness amongst staff is not the same energy that is transferred to the customer. The short responses, lack of eye contact is noticeable when those exchanges are happening amongst each other. On top of that, I typically order one of three drinks, a fuel from their secret menu. The last handful of times I have received it, it has been unmixed. I completely understand instances where there is a line and the employees are working their hardest to get people taken care of in a timely manner but that was not the case today. There were three cars in front of me when I pulled up and it took arguably the same amount of time that it would have in a line of 6-8 cars. I hope moving forward there can be some type of positive change from this!

Wouldn’t recommend unless you want to interact with unfriendly customer service who make it seem like you’re bugging them because you placed a mobile order.

Good options for traditional drinks or something fun.

One of the best coffee places ever! I drove by here almost every day going to work before and if the line is not too long, I go through and get myself a hot jackhammer.

They removed jackhammer from the menu but the staff still makes it anyway. I think there's only a few of us who likes a lot of espresso shot in our coffee 😀 Another go-to is the blackout. If it's the summer, I asked for blended blackout or jackhammer and it's always amazing!

If I come in the afternoon, I like to get the mexican mocha. It's also amazing! One time I bought 6 hot blackouts and brough it to Irvine for my co-workers. They all loved it and hoped Black Rock opens a store there it. This is one local business that I will support 100%!

I come here often for an iced Mexican mocha( definitely recommend ) I usually love the customer service and am impressed with how fast they get through the customer line. Today I’ve had my first bad interaction. Was helped by Samantha R. We all have bad days. But she was unnecessarily rude to us. We asked for drinks off the menu no accommodations. Only Two drinks and were polite. She might want to consider a different job if she’s so miserable in her current position.

Horrible service girl had an attitude, for the original location of this franchise it’s the worse compared to Escondido and vista. Even for a large asking for easy ice just for the drink not be full but that price is $7 is crazy. Wont be coming to this location anymore

I am downgrading my review because of the long line of cars that extends into in westbound lanes on Oceanside Blvd. and is creating traffic congestion on lane 4.

Black Rock needs a traffic handling plan because it's a risk to operate this way.

I ordered coffee at 8:12 a.m. and the person at the window was not friendly at all. I made a suggestion on how traffic could move better.

Your employees need to learn some customer service skills towards customers who are waiting in a traffic jam.

I'm not coming back until there's some improvement with speed.

I was a regular but after being treated so rudely this morning I won't be coming back.

I was recommended to go to Black Rock for their Irish coffee (with a slash of peppermint) and it was delicious!! They also have a coffee called, Jackhammer! Very good!! Support your local Coffee Bar!!

Line was super long but moves very quickly. I ordered the hot caramel blondie with oat milk. It was smooth, sweet and you could taste the coffee. Would definitely come back if I’m in the area again.

Absolutely love their coffee! Thanks to my sisters for introducing to us when we visited Arizona! The iced blackout is my go-to! Unlike other coffee spots, you can actually taste the coffee and the it’s just the right mixture. Can’t wait for them to add one in San Diego!

One of the best things, along with their great drinks, is their cheerful staff. The line is usually huge for this, but it moves quickly. Despite the temperature being so hot, the staff is outside and happily collecting the order. Their iced coffees are really good however they are pricy. We got the iced chai latte and the Mexican mocha which was excellent. This place does not have breakfast items like bagels, which is what we were looking forward to. However this place is great for coffee.

This *used to* be a fantastic drive thru coffee option. I was a loyal customer for many years. But over the past year things have really gone downhill. If you order a large, expect the cup to only be filled half way. If you want extra shots, you’ll be charged but won’t get them in your drink. If the barista is buddies with a car in front of you, expect to wait an extra 10mins while they catch up on the gossip. Don’t order anything complicated, it will be messed up. The only time the staff is focused on customer service is when the owner/manager is nearby. It’s a real shame because this was a great place not too long ago. And with so many other options nearby now, you’d think they’d step it up, not down.

Owner kicked my wife and me out .we are steady customers who buy almost everyday .girl gave us a wrong drink and we asked her to remake it .which she did .but the next day the owner said we were not allowed to buy anymore.Due to we supposedly yelled at the girl and called her names .the owner would not even look at the tape to see who was right .just took the girls word .So sad was a good coffee shop

Best hole-in-the-wall coffee shop in the Oceanside area. The fact that it's down the street from Dutch, Dunkin, and Starbucks, yet we still consistently keep going back says enough. Their coffee tastes like coffee, the customer service is great (not super loud and forced like Dutch, or drab and cold like Starbucks). It just feels like a nice small coffee shop who wants to sell you coffee. None of the extra business.

So this place only half rocks I’m sure I’m talking for a few people out there so ima say they are late once a week so that means people are going to be late to work now not only that they are pissssst off driving now...an have to go to Starbucks okay i get it your late every now an again...but this is kinda ridiculous i just feel sorry for the people that cant go back an get it,cuz they have nothing to do...but i doubt it most people at 5am are going to work but hey maybe you will read this and just fix the problem...5/1/22 since the new manager started they been open on time an the drinks are on point, I have seen a positive change so two stars for that! 12/7/22 back to half rock in again..late,broken machine,can't figure out how to make my wife's drink and does anyone know what a mad wife who's coffee is f'd up trust me u don't..and then she's so loyal (stubborn)she won't just go somewhere else..so having said all that it must be good when it's good!

The best thing about this place is that even though the line can get really long, you have such a short wait compared to most drive through coffee places. Their coffee is always amazing. I usually get a surprise me fuel with sugar free flavors. The staff is always super nice.

I would say the only issue I've ever had here Is the amount of bees that enter my car when I come through. But save the bees I guess 🤣

Again, with this plaza I think the only thing people come here for during the day is this coffee shop. The location is a little bad and the lines are long but it is totally worth it to wait because even though it’s a small team of girls working at any given time, they are always busy af working hard while also making the line go by fast. They definitely make the best of what they have. Thanks guys! We love the coffee

This store location was out of a lot of flavors, that were not marked on their menu. When we asked about anything else, the girls working there were rude and did not care anything but how their hair and makeup looked. 11/10 would not recommend this location, unless you want a rude batista who don't care enough to listen to your order and may or may not spit in your drink. AWFUL EXPERIENCE!!!

Went there is morning with my wife, the front of the drive through delivery window was swarming with bees. We told the manager working there today that there’s bees swarming on everything and we’re allergic to bee stings. She shrugged and said “oh yeah, there’s bees,” and then just kept making drinks. Not sure if today was “casual Friday“ or what because everyone there had a dirty shirt on that looked like it was slept in, and no one seemed prepared to work.

Definitely will never be going back.

There not even in the same league!!
Dont let the big line stop you from trying this Coffee Gold Mine, the girls that work there are super fast and consistent with the drinks it's the same everytime regardless of the business(and the 2 guys there dont even get me started complete ROCKSTARS🤘🏻)

I can't believe I haven't submitted a review for you guys after all the years I had gone there. Best coffee!!! Stopping there is part of my daily routine, the people who works there including the owner are super cool. Yes you can get a different taste of coffee when certain people aren't there....weird right?!? But no one is perfect and they do get super busy but if you go back and let them know they will fix without complaint. I just love going there. Thank you guys for your hard work and staying open with the safety guidelines.

I love that black rock is my local coffee bar! They have great coffee and customer service. It's walking distance from my place, and even though there is always a line in the drive thru, they mark my spot in the line and have me jump in at the last second. Thank you for all the wonderful smiles!

Way better than Starbucks! Insanely good coffee. Friendly crew They hand out treats for our dogs. My wife and I go several times a week. Shot out to Jake for excellent customer service!

I am all for great guest service and when the guy behind the counter on Monday may 11th around 830 asked if I would trust him with making a guava infusion I loved the peach guava combo he made me! He was awesome, also really love the infusions there with the organic energy drinks!

Got charged extra because I asked for my lemonade with light ice. Wasn’t even told of the up charge over heard the owner tell the cashier to charge me since I wanted it light ice. Very rude could of warned me.

Coffee was delicious, and the baristas were really fast, even with a long line of cars. Much cheaper than Starbucks and the friendly baristas made my day!
