What a great find this was. Everything we had was just wonderful. Cioppino, corn bread, the wedge salad were the perks. We weren't big fans of the fried chicken or the potato chips. They were a little bland tasting. Our server was Anthony and he was amazing. Always attentive and friendly. This place is definitely worth a try.

Overall I’d rate this a 4.6, so I rounded up to a 5. The atmosphere is good, but a bit dark. I had to use the flashlight on my phone to read the menu. However, I am over 50 so my eyes aren’t what they used to be. Interestingly the sound/noises from across the room carry pretty far.

The food is very good. I had the Smitty’s famous meatloaf. It’s very fine in texture. I do wish it was a little saltier, but that’s easy to fix. The cornbread was definitely a highlight and one of my favorite things. The wedge salad was good and fresh. They give you a pretty big sized wedge.

They offer valet parking in back, but there are plenty of self parking spots available in the front and back.

It was a great place to celebrate a recent promotion in my Travel Business! It had that old school dining feel with high back booths and dim lighting, I'm all about ambiance!!

The food and the service were great, we really enjoyed our evening here! I had the crab cakes, my husband had meatloaf and we shared the smitty salad, which I highly recommend!

My husband said the meatloaf was soggy which was why I gave a 4 out of 5 on food, otherwise it would have been a 5!

Asked for the bottle of honey to be served rare but it was definitely well done. Couldn’t even cut into it. 5 stars.
Service was so good we decided to stay together instead of breaking up.
Highly recommend the ice cream soup.

Smitty’s feature classic American food served in an intimate setting. The menu has not really changed for the last 5 years. The iron skillet corn bread, prime rib French dip sandwich and baby back ribs do not disappoint. The crab stuffed calamari special is underwhelming. The star of the dinner are the desserts. The key lime pie is tangy and sweet. The raspberry chocolate cake is guilty rich

Smittys is a great for comfort food. The ambiance is cozy and the food tasty. They have a seasoned bartender that makes a mean Rusty Nail. Im looking forward to my next visit already. The wait staff is also friendly and professional.

I dont leave many reviews but I felt compelled because of the level of customer service that I received from the manager, Jarod. I had dinner delivered, an item was labeled correctly but when I opened the container it was something else. I called the restaurant. He apologized, no big deal. He said hed refund the item. The following day he calls me back to tell me he cant refund the item on his end. I need to contact the 3rd party delivery. He will make sure I get my item for free and throw in a desert upon my next delivery. I just need to contact him after placing my order, he will guarantee to put them in the bag coming to me. Its not that Im getting something for free but that he took the time to reach out to me to make sure I got the refund I was entitled to. The rest was above and beyond my expectations. I liked the food enough that this was my second order in as many days but this propelled them to the top of my favorite restaurants in my area. I will probably order again very soon. Thanks, Jarod. This is another landmark in pasadena. There is a toss up between food and service here. Dana sat us, and Gustavo took care of us. The attention to you is non stop. Even managers stop by to seek your opinion on food and service. Jared was no exception. They are open for dinner only. They have indoor and outdoor sitting. Equally enjoyable. Pay a visit and see for yourself. It well worth the visit.

I had out of town guess and thought it would be somewhere reasonable price sit down dinner. On your website it has a $ sign. I know those $$$ sign is an indication of the cost for your meals. But it is misleading When there is 1-$ it should be 3-$$$. If this is how to get someone in there that so wrong. I have to apologize to my guess that I did not know cause I had never been there, but just has seen it since we were close by. We looked it up online and it sound like it would be fun place to go, but after arriving there and seeing the white tablecloths And Seeing the staff martini glasses, soft music, dark we knew this was not the place this is not to say that we would never come back. I m disappointed at the $ sign. So can you please change it at least three or four $$$ sign. So people will not be confused. Thank you.

Grade A (90): Been here quite a few times in the past 2 years. Its a nice go to place, I like being in the main dining area. I had the Rainbow Trout the, it was good, a bit pricey for trout but it was good. People in our group had the Fried Chicken got a small taste, it was also good. Also the Arabiata was good. Parking is Valet, I seem to remember its something like $10 but at least you dont have to try to find parking there (its the pits). Parking: Difficult to find street parking, either park in the structure or Valet.

Smittys has excellent food. I think of it as a steak house and had a very good filet mignon. My wife thinks of it as comfort food and had a delicious fried chicken sandwich. The cocktail menu has lots of options and the bar makes a great Cosmopolitan. Our server Gustavo provided excellent service throughout the meal. I strongly recommend Smittys. We will definitely return.

I really like this place. We got one of the less desirable tables this time, but the person who made the reservation didnt ask for something specific so I wasnt that annoyed. Never disappointed with the food or service, just make sure you request a good table location or youll be subject to the greeters subjective decision about where you should sit (like any restaurant)

Johnny was such a refreshing server. He knew when to be around and interact, and when to stay away. We had the prime rib and baked potatoes with side of sautéed mushrooms. One of the best steaks in SoCal. You cant go wrong with the Ribeye or the NY strip if you want something leaner. The staff are knowledgeable about their Menu and the restaurants heritage that it feels like they love working there. I swear each of the wait staff are qualified substitutes as a chef case the one on shift years his ACL. Trying really hard to be some sort of fine dining. Way too much fat on my filet mignon, worst halibut Ive eaten, Ala carte sides. Wanted to order ribs, but our server enlightened us (unintentionally) that they are way ocercooked and fall off the bone, so we spared ourselves the disappointment. Patrons wear jeans and button-up shirts in this faux fine dining overcharging and underwhelming restaurant. Would not recommend nor return. Terrible food.

Wow wow wow this was my first time here born and raised in Pasadena but never been. I celebrated my anniversary here and from the moment i walked in this place the staff made it so comforting everyone greeted you. We started with appetizers crab cakes and the potato chips were amazing. I also ordered some of the skillet cornbread which came out so fresh and warm. From start to end everything was on point food came out on time cooked to perfection no complaints with anything it was all perfect will definitely be going back highly recommend.

Went here for the first time to celebrate our cousins anniversary. I loved the more intimate setting with the ambient lighting, and then the tastiest versions of American food. I ordered the Ravioli of the Day (chicken, spinach, risotto) and my husband ordered the Chicken Pot Pie. The homemade potato chips are delicious and the dirty Martinis with the hand stuffed blue cheese olives are mouth watering. Highly recommend coming here if you havent already!

The 5 starts is for service. Let me start by saying Im not a fan of the Smith Brothers. They only take an interest in the community in so far as it will bring them attention, so I dont usually frequent their establishments. Not supportive of nonprofits at all. HOWEVER, I want to give credit where its due. A friend wanted to go to Smittys for her birthday and we held a small dinner party for her there. Our server, GUSTAVO, was outstanding. He was attentive, patient, eager to make us happy. Hes the kind of server you wish you experienced at every restaurant. Gustavo, if you see this, thank you for making the evening so pleasant.

The price of the food is very expensive and the meatloaf taste was god-awful. Ive had better meatloaf and TV dinners. Mashed potatoes awful and $10, sand dabs tasteless, creamed spinach unedible. Wedge salad the dressing tasted like it came from the 99 cent store and wasnt not fresh but was expensive. I think that dinner cost my boyfriend around $175. This restaurant is par with Bennys at best. I almost sent the meatloaf back it was so terrible. Wine super super super pricey low quality food if you think about going to this restaurant think about throwing $150 in the garbage can.

Ambience and service is the best I have experienced in a while, never had an empty cup and they accommodated everyones needs. The lobster roll was delicious, and I had the pork chop I would say it was okay, could have done more with the vegetable part of the dish. The chorizo mashed potatoes were a hit! Overall a great experience for a birthday party for 10+ people.

We had very high expectations when we made our reservation. Unfortunately, it was good food but not memorable. Also, they were out of main plates and popular desserts....that is a big No for me. The ambiance was great and the server was amazing....other than that not impressed. Food was super expensive for just average American food. Not a good variety of cocktails either. And for proportions were off.... Appetizers and side plates size so so small but dinner size so so large. Anyways....overall good but I would not come back.

Smittys is officially off my list! I am sorry to write a disappointing review but it truly reflects my experience for a well-awaited Valentines dinner! Nothing but disappointment all the way!!! I made the reservation 10 days in advance and was contacted (text and phone calls) at least five times to confirm the reservation and give them my credit card to hold it (with the understanding that my card will be charged if I do non cancel at least 24 hrs before dinner). All fair and no questions asked there, but at the same time an expectation is set for a good time!! Only to get a disappointing experience......We arrive and get seated all the way in the back, almost at the curb where the staff valet parks the cars (so we get all the car and people traffic)......The plastic sheets of the circus tent are not even hung well, the floor is shaking as waiters and people pass by (I had to hold my glass to not tumble over). The food was mediocre.......my boyfriend was half done with his steak when they brought the steak knife and they only had A1 sauce for steak sauce (and thankfully they had that). He said he had had better steaks at a diner and wasnt convinced it was actually a ribeye steak because it was so tough and tasteless. But he did enjoy his mashed potatoes!! My Chilean bass was so-so.......I had made it better at home. When I asked later what should I have done to get a better seat in the house, they answered Oh, just tell us where you want to sit when you make the reservation Well......I wont be taking advantage of that kind offer. Definitely not the kind of party I was looking for on Valentines Day!!! Oh, yes, they do give you a rose at the end along with the hefty bill.....I will make sure I make a better choice next time around!

Food is outstanding. Portions are small for the prices. The hostesses Priscilla and Jessica are total airhead. Imagine leaving your number, and then they dont text you when your table is ready. I love going to Smittys! Everytime I come I get wonderful servers, but this time I got one of the best. Johnny made my husbands and my one year anniversary wonderful. Johnny goes on and beyond. This Pasadena classic never disappoints! The drinks are strong, the ambiance is cozy and California cool ! You can imagine Clark or Marilyn or Liz walking in and making their way to a corner circular booth! The outdoor seating reminds you that beautiful Pasadena is the perfect place to be - in January or June! My favorite is the chicken pot pie. While there are incredible fish and steak dishes, this chicken pot pie is something that hits home and makes me feel so good! Haha! If you re feeling indulgent - order the cornbread. There is a grandmother somewhere in Georgia who lost her recipe and it was found at Smitty s! It s perfect for a Tuesday night, a date night or a family gathering! Enjoy this special place! My husband had their famous meatloaf and it was pretty good. The Cioppino was a bit fish but maybe because there was a lot of fish in it. :) The bread that came with it was fresh and crispy. My son had the side of mac and cheese with ham and that was super cheesy and delicious. He demolished it.

This place was wonderful, I mean truly wonderful. I have no idea who all these other reviewers are, but they lead me to believe this place was more on the casual side. I read reviews on several platforms while searching for a place my brother could have a nice steak for his birthday and came to the conclusion that this was a nice place, but by no means a button up shirts and slacks type place. I personally felt wildly underdressed the moment we walked in. We saw almost no one else in anything but button ups and dresses, and the wait staff is put together with button ups and ties. The entire atmosphere is quite up scale, ya know, like your water is going to be served in a stem wine glass, the table cloths are real linen, theres lovely jazz music playing, its absolutely lovely, and I felt bamboozled by the numerous reviews stating this is a casual place to grab a steak. I absolutely intend to come back for a date night so we can take time to enjoy more courses and drinks. The food was absolutely delicious, and the service was so kind and generous. My brother is quite the steak connoisseur, regularly hitting all of the chop hoses in the Chicago area, so I was looking for a place to get a nice steak, but not quite chop house level, and this was the location I landed on. My brother said the Filet Mignon was the best he has had in a very long time, and the regular size was quite a generous portion. I had the ravioli and my fiance had the burger, both of which were also absolutely excellent. I regret not saving a bigger appetite for this place, as Id have loved to try more things on the menu. We will be back though, and properly dressed next time.

Absolutely the best place in Southern California to get a delicious chicken pot pie! The service is excellent. The alcoholic beverages are very refreshing and the beer is ice cold. We visit Smittys every time were in Pasadena. You should too.

Cocktails and appetizers were great! Although dinner was tasty, I dont feel like it was freshly cooked. Our dinner was served 2 minutes after ordering so Im sure it was just sitting in a warmer somewhere. One of us had salmon and one chicken. No way both were prepared in two minutes. Had sauteed mushrooms on the side. They were soupy and heavy probably also just sitting in the kitchen also...

Fantastic atmosphere, food was Michelin quality and customer service was above exceptional, if there is such a rating. Smittys is Pasadenas hidden gem.

I love the food here and the ambience is part of the reason why we come, just make sure you can sit indoors. The parking lot tent, just doesnt do it for me in this level of restaurant settings (fine dining?)

I came here last night and can honestly say, it was amazing. I had the Cajun Sea bass. It was so yummy. We had dinner on the patio and the heaters kept us warm and cozy. The service was great. The food was top notch. I have zero complaints and we will definitely be back. I am surprised by some of the reviews because I cannot think of one complaint. We also had bread pudding for dessert. It was good and I never was a big fan of bread pudding, so thats saying something. If you have been disappointed in the past, try the Cajun sea bass. It might just change your mind. Also, it is difficult to find a place that can make a good Manhattan and this place can certainly make excellent drinks.

Long time customer and enjoy it every time! So appreciate that they had their regular menu for Easter, along with some lovely specials. Always superb service and great atmosphere. First inside dining for over a year and this was the perfect place. Thank you staff for such an enjoyable dinner!

Amazing service as always! The full rack of pork ribs was good but I probably would order something else next time. I tried their fried chicken too and THAT was really good! Looking forward to next time!

Pot pie was great, the muscles and clams appetizer was delicious but they need to provide more than 2 pieces of bread since the broth is delectable
