Glad I never got the chance to try this place due to their awful system and service. Extremely rude staff. You have to sign up through text before you can order at the counter. It was busy, so I grabbed a table while my partner was about to order. Some worker had the audacity to come up to me and tell me that I can t sit down, even though my partner was next in line to order. The table I was sitting at was open, and there were still dirty dishes sitting from the last party. Don t come here. It s not worth your time and energy with their lame ordering and seating system, and rude staff.

Poppin Yolk certainly knows how to plate a dish. Their vibrant colors and artful presentation are sure to catch your eye. Unfortunately, the flavors dont quite match the visual appeal. While the portions are generous, the overall taste experience feels lackluster. The price tag might be a bit steep for what youre getting.

This place has amazing breakfast. I got the Ube stuffed French toast with blueberries and coconut. Oh my goodness. It was the most delicious thing ever. Not too sweet but very filling. I also got the mango green tea as well. It was very refreshing and went well with what I ate. Highly recommend going here.

I try to write about places I ve enjoyed and Popping Yolk Cafe definitely makes the cut. This was the California omelette with cherry tomato, avocado, pesto, spinach, mushroom, cheese and toast. The vibrant mix of flavours and fresh ingredients truly made it a good experience. It s served with a small garden spring salad and country fried potatoes on the side. They ve got great coffee and the staff are really nice. Its also dog friendly on the outdoor patio. I counted 15 different people who came and went in the time it took for me to enjoy my coffee and omelette which speaks to the popularity of this place. The relaxed ambiance and quick service make it a perfect spot for both solo dining and catching up with friends. Kid-friendliness: There s both indoor and outdoor dining that s good for people with children. Wheelchair accessibility: The restaurant s front entrance is street level allowing easy access for visitors.

Perfect spot for brunch! We ordered the cinnamon apple French toast which was more like a churro rather than French toast. We also ordered a classic eggs Benedict which was great, and a crab cake Benedict which was also good. The orange juice is freshly squeezed and was delicious.

The dishes were all completely bland. Very disappointed in this meal. I will mention the employees were nice and friendly and it s in a lovely spot.

The classic American branch is delicious and often eaten, but the sauce they often use is thicker and sometimes feels too greasy. The iced latte is good. I recommend the matcha latte. The matcha latte is delicious but a bit too sweet, and the sweetness cannot be adjusted. Business is so good. There are many people on weekend mornings. It is recommended to eat on weekdays.

Over priced for the food quality and quantity. Coffee latte was served cold, and the ham and cheese omelette was deli ham wrapped in a thin egg omelette. 1/3 of the plate was covered with a spring salad . For $73 for a breakfast for two it was underwhelming to say the least.

Hands down a great experience! At first I thought it was a bit pricey for brunch but unlike many places, it is well WORTH IT. We got the Nashville Chicken Sandwich and the Popping Yolk burger, and were highly impressed. The portions were large which included the best roasted potatoes and regular garden salad. My boyfriend visiting from Ireland said those were the best potatoes he s had since visiting lol Everything was seasoned well and the burger was cooked just right. The staff were friendly and helpful, you order before you sit down. I went purposely on a rainy day and there was plenty of seating around 1:00pm in the afternoon. The menu selection was great, will definitely want to try one of the Benedict s on my next visit. Will definitely come back again!

I was caught off guard, I thought this place was going to be all about eggs....back to that in a minute. My Initial surprise was that its fast casual dining, so you order at the counter when you first walk in and seat yourself. Since I was unfamiliar with this establishment and the menu, I felt pressured to not hold the line up behind me and I ended up ordering something that was more like dessert rather than breakfast. Had the Berries Farm Liege Waffle, not even sure what Liege is, but this dish will satisfy your sweet tooth. It was very sweet with the sauce, whipped cream and a dollop of ice cream on top of this pyramid of waffles. I was really in the mood for breakfast, so Ill have to come back and give it another try.

The manager here threaten to remove my wifes belongings from the table. The crime? She waited for other diner to finish, sat down to an empty table, then waited in line to order the food. Apparently the rule is that you order your food before you can sit down? This is a self service restaurant. There were a lot of people. What do you expect diners to do if you ordered food with no place to sit? You either provide table service and manage the tables and parties or they are first come first serve--like any self service dining establishments would be. Please do not reply with yet another well do better next time template response. Try to actually train your people better in customer service and look at the whether your rules make sense to the general public.

I have a big problem with the way that they do their ordering/seating. The restaurant is so packed so when we arrived, one of us went to reserve a table by sitting down to save the spot. When we did this, a staff member told us this wasnt allowed, even though this wasnt indicated anywhere. This is such a weird concept to give people table numbers but not to let people sit down and save a table for their group? We did it anyways... obviously. I am not going to follow made up rules just so someone who got here after me can get a table first... strange. Food was fine and reasonably priced. I will not be coming back because I am not from this country. If I did come back to this country, I certainly wouldnt come here.

Went to the Pasadena location this morning, it was lot of people, went inside and waited for table, got a table and put down our stuff and went to the counter to order our food. Then this guys came to us and say- we have to remove your stuff because you need to order first and go find a table, can t get the table first. What the B* is this? First of all, it was no sign in the cafe saying that you need to order first and get the table, second you don t have any one by the door to help people get seated so of course I don t know you need to order first and seated. I checked the website there s nothing says anything about this rule. And we were inline to order food, it s not like we are not ordering or anything. Of course we left! If you want to have these stupid rules to treat your customers, at lease train your staffs!! What service? You have no service, don t even deserved one star!

This place was disappointing. I had the eggs Benedict, I asked if the hollandaise was home made. They said yes. It was basically mayonnaise. It came out cold and gloppy. Had no acidity, and flavorless. It was just plopped over my overcooked poached eggs. The hashbrowns were just deep fried cubes of potatoes. It had a salad with it, which made a weird combination. The first sign I should have noticed is that we re the only customers there at peak breakfast time. Im never going back. Go to Russell s down the street way way better!

One of the most interesting meals I have ever had! Came here on a quiet Thursday morning. No wait and plenty of seating but I m sure they are packed on weekends. Order an almond milk horchata latte and the spam and kimchi omelette. They obliged my request for all salad instead of potatoes( even though the potatoes looked perfectly crisp and delicious). The omelette was so flavorful, the saltiness of the spam and sauces perfectly balanced with the egg and tart crunch of the kimchi. The salad was very lightly dressed. A great protein and veggie packed breakfast. Great, attentive service even though you order and pay ahead. The horchata latte was rich and indulgent!

Good breakfast spot overall. The Downside was the iced flavored coffee. It barely had any coffee and was more milk and ice than coffee. The seasoning on the potatoes goes perfectly with their eggs Benedict. This place would be better if it had servers taking orders at the table instead of ordering at the cashier. It makes the atmosphere seem more like an In n out, rather than a restaurant.

The food was delicious. I convinced my husband to get the Nashville Hot Chicken Benedict so I culd have a bite and I ordered the arugula salad (nothing spectacular there, but it was exactly what I wanted). He was so glad I did because it was amazing. Both the chicken and the potatoes had great flavor and a perfect crisp. The freshly squeezed orange juice and peach oolong tea were also very good. The ordering process was a little chaotic. There is a tablet to sign in with your phone number (it is un-manned). Once you receive a text, that just means you can stand in line and place your order with the cashier and they will then assign you to a table. Everyone else in line was also confused with this process so it wasnt just us. However, the wait was short and the food came out rather quickly. As for the ambience, we sat in the back and there is not a lot of natural light there, which I feel makes a good brunch ambience. We would have loved to sit outside, but the patio area is small and it was full. This will not stop us from going back and we look forward to the next time.

The brunch is really nice and delicious. And we were full. But you need to order the meal first at the front desk and pay the tip first. Servant are friendly but I think is too busy to care about our water is empty. And most bother me is that the there are lots of flies flying around. The food is really delicious, but there is a service charge and you have to pay a tip first when ordering. It is a bit difficult to measure how much to give. Although the waiter is very kind, there is basically not much service during the meal, so you can tip according to your discretion. In addition, there are really too many small flies, which is a bit bothersome. Although the dining environment is very beautiful and spacious, the hygiene may need to be improved. We ordered the BBQ pork omelet. It was really recommended. The meat was tender and the sauce was delicious. The portion was huge. The potatoes on the side were also fried very crispy. The French toast is also fried on the outside and is very fragrant. The portion is also very large. Overall, the meal is really great, but the hygienic environment is really a problem.

Went here with my girlfriends (one of which has severe food allergies) and was hoping to have a great experience. Although the food was quite tasty, the service we received was terrible and my friend was made to feel very uncomfortable. First of all, the associate working at the register was not very friendly and when I asked if they offered a half order of the salad he rolled his eyes at me and said a short no. Not to mention the food is absurdly overpriced. Next, my friend ordered a substitute of no fruit instead of bread (gluten free) at the register and the associate rolled his eyes again. When we were brought the food, there was bread on her plate which was no problem because we just thought oh they are busy and we will just remind the waiter. However, when we politely asked if she could have the fruit instead like the waitor looked very annoyed and said it would be extra charge. My friend tried to explain that she had already paid and the waitor made a very loud and audible annoyed sigh and went to the kitchen. We then saw the staff looking over and pointing and overheard them saying that s so annoying while rolling their eyes. My friend felt very uncomfortable and it made the experience very unenjoyable as she already has a tough enough time navigating her allergies. I recommend for the food but find a different location if you would like respectful service.

This restaurant was near our hotel and it got great reviews, so we figured we d give them a try. It took about 15 minutes to place our order at the counter and get seated. My daughter ordered scrambled eggs. Usually, she loves soft scrambled eggs, but these eggs were too wet, to the point of being a little slimy and they were bland. We also ordered their popping yolk burger which came with country fried potatoes. The burger was undercooked, but the potatoes were great. I don t usually like sweet breakfasts, but I made an exception for their Ube French toast. Unfortunately, the dish didn t meet expectations. The Ube was hardly discernible and the toast was greasy. It ate quite heavy. For drinks, we ordered a cappuccino, a regular coffee and orange juice. The juice was freshly squeezed and delicious. We expected at least the regular coffee to be refilled at our table, but no one ever came around. The cappuccino was good, but also wished I had more. The staff seemed nice, but truthfully, we didn t encounter them enough to really have an opinion. We paid $77.63 which I thought was expensive, considering I ve visited other places with better food and paid considerably less.

Put your contact info in and they ll send you a text. There s plenty of seating to go around. They have menus near the front you can look at the familiarize yourself with, and you order at the counter before sitting at your table. Service was great. We loved everything we got. We split the strawberry crepe and the Norwegian salmon eggs Benedict. Very generously sized portions. The strawberry crepe was sweet and creamy. The service was fast and the food was nice and hot. Unfortunately the side of fries was too small of a portion. It was nicely season though and had good flavor. Both Eggs Benedict plates came with a good sized portion of a side salad and potatoes. The classic eggs Benedict was a bit too bland but not too bad. Could have used more seasoning/ flavor. The Nashville Benedict was very good and I definitely recommend. It has a nice spicy flavor and the chicken is seasoned very well. Will be coming back to try out more dishes.

Went here before the Rose Bowl. Really good breakfast (eggs, potatoes and bacon) and chicken sandwich. Service was quick. The game wasnt nearly as satisfying as the food was at this place.

Overall the food was good. We ordered the hot chicken sandwich and the classic Benedict. The issue we had was the service. The food did not come out at the same time. I asked where is the eggs Benny? The waitress would go and check and never come back so I went to ask a few times finally it arrived 15 minutes after the rest of the food. No apology from anyone, no manager came over nothing. I was recommended to come here very disappointing.

This was food joy. The best French toast I have ever had. If you find yourself in Pasadena, you must stop and eat at Popping Yolk

We stopped in on Christmas day and had a nice brunch for two for about 60 dollars. Really good breakfast plates at around $15-20 per plate. $4-7 for beverages. Wait staff is a bit young and inexperienced but the food is a solid for sure.

A bit hectic, but I get why, the food is GOOD. The potatoes they give on the side were to die for, the portions were huge enough you could share. 10/10 food right there. Interesting ordering system when you join the wait list on your phone and then when the time comes you present the code they give you to the front where you can then order your meal and find seating. Dont be scared of your estimated wait time, its always way faster.

Good, decadent breakfast and brunch food. *Perfect* sunny side up eggs with their namesake popping yolks. Kind, attentive but not overbearing service. Cute decor. The coffee could be better but still 5 stars over all. We ll be back for sure.

$67 (Inc. tip) is just too much for breakfast for two people. We just got two dishes, a latte, and a reg. coffee...that is it! Beyond that, the food and coffee is fine.

Super good place! The portion was pleasantly large with ample entree size and plate full of salad and hash brown squares. We had the omelet and benedict which were both delicious, salad was nice and crispy, hash browns were crispy golden on outside while fluffy on inside and seasoned tasty. Pleasing atmosphere inside and outside.

Food was Fantastic. Great presentation. delicious tasty food. I had a omelet Meats and avocado it was served with potatoes diced and a salad. Amazing meal. The service was lacking I ordered coffee and my service on my side of the room was lacking. I say this because I noticed that service on the west side of the restaurant was having no problem getting refills on their coffee. After trying to get someones attention for a bit. I was able to finally get a second cup of coffee. Then it was back to no service at all. And this place is not that big of a restaurant. So when I go back its going to be for the incredible food and I will just bring a pitcher of coffee and Condiments of my own.

Usually I go to Urths cafe or Russell s for brunch but they were doubly packed today so checked out these guys because the line was shorter. Understand it s still a wait because it s actually pretty good and the service was fantastic considering how busy they were. Took my son and he got the Nashville chicken eggs Benedict (too much batter) and I got the Kim chi spam omelette (hella good). The coffee was okay and their crepes were super sweet. Overall, a great thanksgiving brunch and probably be back with the whole family (if they wake up).

Great service and great food! If you enjoy good eggs benedict there are about 8 choices to choose from. Waiting for a table was not a problem. The wait was much shorter than the estimated time given. Parking is on the street however there is more parking around the corner and the walk is short.

Love this relatively new cafe location in Old Town Pasadena. I have visited the Alhambra location before but this one has a sunnier atmosphere. They serve a great selection of breakfast and lunch fares. The California omelet and Berries Farm liege waffle are family favorites.

Let me start off by saying that the food was really good and the portions are huge! I m not sure if it was an off day but the service was really slow but it s a good thing the music was really good so at least the wait was tolerable lol In conclusion: food and vibes were so good I didn t mind waiting for it.

Great breakfast selection! My first time going and I already want to go back and try the rest of the menu. I had the salmon omelet, it s huge! It has spinach and mushrooms with a side salad and diced potatoes. The plates can be shareable since the portions are huge. I highly recommend brunch days. They serve mimosas, I tried their strawberry Bellini. So good! They have indoor and outdoor seating. I recommend coming with intention to wait a while as they get pretty busy on weekends.

Friendly and attentive staff. Our orders were all delicious! Good latte and cappuccino & Strawberry Bellini. Hearty serving of our Salmon Croissantwhich & Fish Fillet Benedict. We enjoyed the Spicy Onion Rings & Potato fries. And the Toffee Banana French Toast was so yummy! We will definitely be back with the rest of the fam!

Annoying reservation system. Few places to wait. Staff tried but seemed stressed and one of us finished his meal before the others were served. Menu was the usual - predictable sandwiches and mixed lettuce salad- with an egg on everything, except that waffles escaped eggs.

Got a croissant smoke salmon sandwich, very delicious, the salty level is just about right unlike other places are super salty, and the price are very good for such a big meal. Parking: A parking structure right behind the store, very convenient, only paid 4$ for park for 3hrs.

After a run or workout, this is the best spot to come and consume all the energy lost. I also love their mango green tea. My go-to is the Norwegian Benedict which comes with a good serving of hash browns and salad. Im typically not a hash brown person but I like how they have it. Ive came here a few times and both times were less busy than the other places. I do know its pricier but its worth it for the atmosphere and convenience.

We got a half order of French toast, berry crepe, avocado eggs Benedict and Nashville hot chicken eggs Benedict. Critic Katie s review: it s difficult to mess up breakfast food, but in the same way it s difficult to make it stand out. For me, popping yolk stands out. A slight twist on the classics that make them that much better. The French toast is fried and there s cereal in the crepe, both of which provide a nice crunch in the meal. The avocado gives a creamy texture for the eggs Benedict. And the fried chicken eggs Benedict was a stand out, spicy, crunchy and flavorful with a fresh slaw on it. 10/10 recommend

My wife and I came here for the first time and we are so glad we did! Joining the waitlist was easy, knowing your place and how long was just as easy to follow. We had their Avocado Eggs Benedict, and their popping yolk chicken sandwich. Both were equally as good. Flavors on both were amazing and satisfying. Their staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. I will be coming here more often for breakfast/brunch.

Here for breakfast on a Saturday morning. Very crowded but plenty of seating available. Pretty quick service after we ordered. The fresh squeezed orange juice is really good. My friend said the coffee was good. I had the Florentine Benedict and it was very good. My friend had the BBQ pulled pork Benedict and said it was good but the pork was on the sweet side. They have some items available on the tables like ketchup, Tabasco, Tapatio, straws, sugar, creamer but we didnt have salt and pepper, might be available upon request only? Would definitely go back to try other things.
