We came in around 7:30pm on a Monday. Finding parking in the lot was very easy.The restaurant feels like a small diner sanctuary in an area of fast food giants. We ordered the Top’s special with everything on it, an avocado bacon burger, zucchini fries, and tater tots. We also requested a lamb gyro to go. The woman at the counter was pleasant. It was easy to find clean, open seating. Our food came out in less than 10 minutes and was very generously portioned. The food was all very good, but the pastrami could have been a little more crispy on the top’s burger. The ranch was subpar. Tater tots were spectacular! All in all, we aren’t in a hurry to get back, but we will return.

The service was OK, even though they didn’t get the order right they were missing a couple of items even though we repeated the order.
The tables are very tight positioned. But the price of pastrami that should be more meat. . Meat was tender, Kenny stripped were heavily breaded. Not much zucchini in them .. unfortunately. Ranch is very watery!!

Solid pastrami sandwich and fries that feel like a more real McDonalds fry. I'm not sure what it is about the fries, the flavor, the salt, but they're great. The pickled peppers and onions are a good addition to cut through a bit of the greasiness. Everything was very good.

I've been eating at this tops alone and with friends since it opened. It has many of its original employees.

I recently left California for a few months and returned today. Tops was the first place I stopped for lunch.

My favorite is the Bacon and Avocados Burger, with a box of fries and ranch dip.

Before I left, I was talking with an employee and asked if they had ever considered making nachos since they pretty much already had all the ingredients for other meals.

I went back in two weeks or so later and they had introduced three different nacho meals. Asada, Chicken and plain nachos.
I am a nachos fanatic, so I am really glad they took it to heart.
I only wish they would put some refried beans with them. Maybe they will later.

I also love their breakfast burritos - bacon and sausage with their amazing green sauce. Had one for breakfast the morning I left California.

I used to live a few block away until recently. Unfortunately, I will probably not be close enough to eat here anymore on a regular basis.

I think the only thing I do not like is that when they take an order through the drive through, they have often over charged me despite telling them I was paying with cash. They charge a fee if you pay with a credit or debit card, and seem to assume that is how you are going to pay.

Other wise I can't think of anything I don't like about Tops on Walnut and Allen.

This location doesn't get even close to as busy as the one on Colorado. The parking here is much better too! The staff here is friendlier, but we've had some bad experiences here at times.

They make a very good burger! I've had a grilled chicken breast plate that was good. We've had fish and chips - okay. And my better half likes one of their salads!

Prices are very reasonable, local owner, nice staff and good food. And I think they're open later than the one on Colorado! If you want an order of fries or onion rings, be careful - it's huge!

Tops has been a staple for me my entire life. I can t make a trip to Pasadena without stopping by for zucchini, pastrami or a shake. The BEST pastrami sandwich I ve had anywhere thin cut, lean meat, not too salty, just perfect. Service is fast and staff is friendly, always clean in the dining area. If you ve never been, do yourself a favor and treat yourself, your friends, family, everyone should try Tops.

The chili cheese fries are great and massive(a small can feed 2 people) but it usually puts me in bed for the next day. It might be the oil they use messed with me. But good food otherwise! (this is my personal experience, just try it and if you react to the food then don t eat it)

Our goal today was In-N-Out but there was a long line of people at the window and 19 cars lined up for the drive-thru. We drove past about 2 blocks and found Tops Burgers. They had a line at the drive-thru too but we could see that their outside eating area wasnt full and had inside tables also. My family loved the juicy Top Cheeseburgers. At this place I had the option of a turkey burger, a table with seats, a bathroom, it was all clean and had very good burgers and fries. Three of us were going to share fries so I got a large which turned out to be 3 times larger than any large fries Ive seen before. It was a great find.

Love it here, my parents have been eating here since they were teens and iv had some great memories eating here with them since I was super small. Hopefully one day Ill be able to bring my kids here when I grow up. Parking: parking is kinda small, sometimes hard to park, but most of the time, you will find a parking spot. Kid-friendliness: they have high chairs for small kids. Wheelchair accessibility: they have Ramps and seating for people with wheelchairs.

Great food. Luv how they have single serving sides, their Jr size. Unlike places like the Hat where the sides are just too big for one person and you end up throwing away food. You cant have a burger with fries or rings. Update: They just added tater tots to the menu. Had them with a Tops Special (pastrami cheeseburger). It was super tasty. The only complaint I have is how much liquid came out of the burger. It was very messy.

Weve lived in Pasadena for more than 60 years so its fair to say weve tried a lot of restaurants there. Tops (and the location on Colorado and Michillinda) is, hands-down, one of the best burger joints around. Their chili-cheese fries are to die for. My dad always loved their burgers. What can I say? Tops is a Pasadena institution. Go!

HALF of the job of the person taking orders is to listen. Our entire order was messed up .. three seperate items because the person at the register could not listen. When our order number was called, no forks, knives salt pepper cream sugar nada... its like here.. take this food and have fun trying to eat it. I just dont understand whats hard . Make sure if u come here, dont u dare want something cooked your way, cause they wont listen. Maybe bring your own fork

BREAKFAST BURRITO IS BOMB! A good breakfast, lunch, dinner joint. A diner and drive though is perfect. The food tastes great and the proportions are large! The prices match of course but it is worth it. I go here at least once a week before class. Do NOT get the chili cheese fries if you dont want a lot of it because its a large portion. This place is the classic American burger joint. Ive been coming here for about 8 or 9 years now. Some highlights: Burgers are good and HEFTY (not tall, I mean THICC!!!) Vanilla milkshakes are good, too. They dont mess around with the fries! A small order of fries is a box. (2-3 people. 2 people if they love food) Zucchini fries and onions rings, are dank af. Double cheeseburger, fries, milkshake, instant K-O I like bringing people here for that nightime burger run. Its pretty affordable, with good taste. The only downside is that its not big boah friendly. Its got that old school, wooden interior, but every bite of the burgers is totally worth it.

I got only 2 corn dogs and a small sweet potato fries order and it was 14 dollars. I get inflation. And even though that seems off I could get over it. But the amount of fries I got for that was the equivalent of 1 single potato. Service was quick, food was fresh, but I cant get over 2 corn dogs and the equivalent of one potato for 14 bucks. No drinks added nothing else.

Years ago this place was a fantastic place to eat and hang out. Now it is just a shell of itself, the food is average for what you get and the selection is still there. I ordered the patty melt it was awful.. Patty melts are usually very simple period Grill onions, mustard and a Patty. Grilled onions And mustard. I added pickles. I dont know what they did with that Patty mill. Everythings slid off the bread. I couldnt even pick it up or take a bite. All the engines were all over my countering floor.

We had lunch here at Tops. Food was actually pretty good and service was good too. It had this mom and pop feel in a good way. Anyway, I would recommend you to eat at this Tops for sure. I think you ll be pretty surprised how good the food is and service is fast so no waiting for a long time to get your food.

Havent been here in about 10 years. The service was good and fast. I did not like the pastrami sandwich, but my husband did. He ate his and mine too. Niether one of us cared for the onion rings. Too dry, over cooked maybe. Maybe brought in pre-made and frozen? We tossed them. We will give this place another try. Nice staff.

Whats a great experience in eating, while I am visiting family in California. One thing our family enjoyed was eating a hamburger. This place is great for hamburger and pastrami sandwiches. Take out eat in. Parking: You can go through the drive up window and order your food or walk in order food or ear in.

Tops is an experience! The food is delicious, the portions are plentiful and the prices are fair. Went with our entire family (14 kids/adults) and it was a wonderful time!!!

Was driving through Pasadena when we spotted the restaurant on the corner. The inside is clean and the staff were quick to take the order. Food came out really quickly and was really good. The double cheeseburger was really good except for the excess amount of lettuce on it and the thin cut fries are amazing! The fish and shrimp tacos come loaded and fill you up quickly. Highly enjoyed and recommend the place!
