A pretty good restaurant that has nice authentic Persian food. The portions are quite big and very filling, although the kebabs are a bit bland. Staff are nice and the vibe is chill. Overall it is a good Persian restaurant in the area, but if you are willing to go to other locations there are better options for Persian food. The price is fair for the quality and portions.

Their food is really good. The lamb sultani entree has so much amazing flavor and it is cooked to perfection. Their rice is good too. Their food is a must try. However, the service was really slow and we barely got attended especially when the restaurant was empty around noon. We had to get up and ask for a few things because our waiter wasn t checking on us.

I love this restaurant. Going there for last 17 years. Halal food, Iranian style, but worth the price and price is very reasonable. Their soup is the best. Kid-friendliness: Very roomy, family corners, never had any issues for a big family.

We were invited to this restaurant. Food was average. I had better Persian food. It was on the blend side. They will spice it up of you tell them. Service was not up to par. The lady who took our order was confused. Our host repeated it a couple of times. They also mentioned to serve everything on a family platter. However it can as an individual dish. The host was upset as they come here regularly and this was not what they expected for their guest. We assured they it is fine. The kabob and kubbedieh were very soft and juicy. They also serve extra butter. Kids enjoyed the fried and burger. They said it was good. They have a nice spot for salah. I wish it was bigger for more people to pray. Us ladies had to wait along time till the guys are done. Restaurant is very old but clean and taken well care of. Parking: You have to park on the street next to the restaurant. It is hard to find during peak hours. Wheelchair accessibility: Easy access but hard to maneuver inside the restaurant.

Some of the best Persian food around. My wife says their Gormeh Sabzi is the closest to what her grandma used to make that she has found. That is high praise. The look of the place could use some work, but its not terrible. Service has been decent every time Ive gone. Parking: Small lot in back, street parking in front. I have never had a problem finding parking nearby.

Taste is very average, and the service is the worst. When we asked the waitress to pack the food for takeaway, she brought us disposable containers and plastic bags to do it ourselves.

Great Persian food. We ordered beef koobideh, bath kebab and salad and mast I musir. Everything was tasty.

Review №17

The food here was totally mediocre, the soup came warm at best. The lamb koobideh was dry the mast moosir was tasteless, salad olivieh was unseasoned and eggy. The bread was store pita and tasted days old. The service was ok as long as you didn t ask for anything extra. I hadn t had Persian food in months and i was so looking forward to it but I wouldn t recommend this restaurant to anyone.

We went to Heidar Baba because it s close by and we heard good things about it. The food is good but definitely not great. We got the lamb Soltani. The Koobideh was good but the Barg was kind of tough. Their portions were small compared to other Persian restaurants. The worst part was their service. Our server did not check on us even once. The only time she smiled was when she brought the check back for a tip. Overall, the food is good and maybe next time we ll take out.

The food was relatively expensive. The kobideh tasted too chunky and not soft and the tahdig was not chewable. The boss made an error in taking our order and then she was angry when the order arrived. Overall it was not a good experience. The kabab didn t have any salt, rice was so oily that after I finished eating you could see the oil on the plate. With the prices they charge you would think you are getting a good meat but it was chewy and it was wrestling with my teeth as I was trying to force it down. Beside the food there was one other thing that disappointed me very much. They had a table with bunch of toys and some signs saying you will not be forgotten. At first I thought a staff member has passed away but after I asked they told me it was for Palestine. The owner is Persian BUT I don t remember him putting out a table when 1500 people of his own country got killed in 3 days! The 45 minutes that we were at the restaurant the owner spent over 30 minutes rearranging the toys or adding more toys and did NOT spent 5 seconds coming to any of the tables to welcome the guests or ask how the food was! I know Gaza is a sensitive matter these days and I feel bad for their people but I also matter and I would like to be treated nicely if I m paying over $100 for lunch of 3 people! I will not spend another penny of my hard earned money and be treated this way specially with the quality of the food they offer!

I had a spicy chicken koobideh, this was my first try of koobideh in my life. They try was successful. It was good. Along with this food they will provide soups or salads as a starte and thats also a big quantity actually. I liked the soup,it was a different one. The staffa are so nice to customers. Also can here music here for free. One thing noticed that, the AC was not so cool when I get in, but later it got ok. Hope to visit again. Thank you guys.

The kabob koobideh is the best. Also joojeh kabob was delicious. I tried the tadig with qhormeh sabzi but found it britle and hard. I wished they used bread at the bottom of rice to make bread tadig instead of rice tadig. Also their salad olovieh is really good.

Although the prices have gone up drastically compared to 3-10 years ago they do still have the best chicken kabob in Pasadena. Have gone here for years and the chicken kabob is always the go to. We ordered chicken kebob with salad, shish kebob with fries and lamb fillet with barley soup. The basmati rice was plentiful, the vegetables nicely roasted and the barley soup was satisfying. The meats are tender but under seasoned compared to other places like Pardis, Sahara and Raif s. Maybe, that s the reason packets of sumac came with the food.

Heidar Baba makes me happy. I stop in any time I m in the neighborhood and try to talk myself into trying something new, but I always order my go-to and never leave disappointed. White meat chicken kabob plate with the salad both are enormous and so fresh and tasty, it s hard to not eat the entire thing in one sitting (the plate can easily provide three meals). The rice is impossibly light and the juicy chicken and grilled tomatoes make every bite of all three a treat. I usually get just water, but last night I ordered an Arnold Palmer and was blown away by the amazing flavors in the Persian tea literally a delight. The staff is hard-working and always positive and makes the guest experience very casual and comfortable. Thank you, Heidar Baba see you again soon!

Heidar Baba Persian grill is a staple of the Pasadena community, having served the people delicious eats for decades. If its your first time there I would recommend the Soltani Kabob, one skewer of ground beef and one skewer of beef fillet (ask for MEDIUM to keep it juicy, fillet should never be prepared well done). It comes with rice but you can do half salad which i enjoy greatly. This might be off brand for someone looking for an authentic middle eastern culinary experience, but the Hamburger is a surprise hit as well. Dont forget to order Mast Moosir (yogurt with shallots) with your kabobs, and finish off your meal with some Persian black tea.

Let me begin by saying this negative review is not directed at their food. To be honest, we ve been going to this place for years because their food is delicious and it breaks my heart to leave a such a nasty review for their underhanded practices. In short, I ordered 30 kabobs (combination of chicken and beef), and 7 sides in advance for a party. They quoted me $332 over the phone. When I arrived the next day for pickup and added 4 Fantas to the order, they charge me $672! Literally double of what I was quoted over the phone. The lady behind the counter (I m assuming she was the manager / owner) insisted that the price was correct; feeling like I was held hostage, I had no choice but to pay the amount since I had guests at home that were waiting to be fed. I figured maybe it was just an oversight, and that we could resolve it later in the day. So, I paid and left. Later that evening I tried calling the restaurant to resolve the billing issue. To my surprise, they never called back. Seeing how I had no other option, I filed a formal dispute with my bank. After the investigation, they insisted that the billing was correct and therefore I m on the hook to pay premium steakhouse prices for ground chicken and beef. I understand small restaurants are hurting because of COVID and you may need to charge a little more to stay afloat. But charging a regular customer DOUBLE and holding them hostage is not the way to go about recouping your reduced revenue. You guys knew exactly what you were doing and are a bunch of crooks. You guys lost a customer for life and we ll never be coming back.
