My husband and I tried this place on Saturday night. While we were dining, we learned our son and his girlfriend were in the area as well and invited them to join us. We asked the waitress if they could simply add a chair at our table so we could all sit together. We never got the straight answer, and the staff was not accommodating at all. When our son arrived, the gentleman at the next table was beyond kind and told us to take his table and he would move to the bar. The staff said this was not allowed and refused us to take his table even though he was kind enough to already move his own plate of food, drink, and belongings to the bar. Once he had moved they made us leave and were about to give both tables to other parties, we made sure to help the man bring his things back to the table because it was ridiculous that they saw his good deed as another way to get another open table. Food was average with limited options, there was no manager in charge, staff were all confused and unfriendly. It seemed more important to fill every seat and turn the tables as fast as could be, failing to understand customer service is a big component for surviving among all the restaurants choices around them. I would rate a zero star if given the option.

Watching their ex char siu ramen from 15 to 18 and now $20 a bowl, I have mixed feelings. It is located in a shopping street in the center of the city hall, so it is expensive. I visited on a Thursday night and was delighted by the service as I waited in line for only eight minutes alone, in a place with no seats but heating, air conditioning and a canopy. I ordered koku ex char siu ramen with scallion, bean sprouts and fungus, but Ive been to so many ramen restaurants that Ive never seen an egg in the ex version. It costs an extra $2. Whats even more incredible is that this $22 bowl didnt fill me up. I am not a person with abnormal food intake, go to many stores are full of one bowl of noodles, but this bowl of noodles really only let me eat seven cents full, I had to spend another $2.50 to add noodles, the thin noodles only cost $2 but I was too hungry, add noodles with a free vegetable, finally, full, thanks to $27 (with tax). Im sad to lose an affordable after-work canteen, but its still the best place for me to celebrate the holidays, and I hope they do some promotions owith.

First time here the other day and it was pleasantly nice! The parking garage is right close by, but it is $11 flat fee. There is a parking garage a block or so away that is much cheaper. The ramen shop is very small but brightly lit. Its pretty plain and simple decor. Had no wait time so that was nice. We got the gyoza, the spicy miso ramen, and the tonkatsu ramen. They were all really good, super heavy on garlic! The spicy ramen wasnt spicy at all, kind of disappointed in that regard, but it was nonetheless tasty. The texture of the noodle is really good and it had a good ration of broth to noodles. I dont usually like chasu but this was really good! It just kind of melts in your mouth! They come in thick and thin noodles, but I dont think they allow substitution of any kind. Overall, it is probably one of the better ramen shops Ive had in a while!

Its perfect, the Spicy Miso is good, but I like the Koku Tonkotsu better because of its garlic and onion flavor and adding spice on my own, it has more flavor. The place is nice and the service good. They have very interesting drinks. Generally you have to wait but it is worth it. There is parking nearby in the same building. this restaurant is definitely not halal in any way, in fact its the opposite. Everyone else around us seemed to be having a good experience though. Maybe this is just personal but we thought it would be good to let other people know. We had a bad experience when we first got in after being in line for 10-15min and seeing that 95% of the menu has pork which is the one thing that we couldnt eat. We didnt thoroughly check the menu online before getting in line which is partly our fault, however only being able to order maybe 3 sides + one season garlic noodle bowl out of the entire menu really made our experience disappointing. Service was pretty good with only a little wait for the food to arrive. The ambiance wasnt bad however it was pretty loud with the amount of people in a space that seemed smaller due to the crowd(?). that made it hard to talk to each other on our table. The food we got was alright, except for the vegan garlic noodles which were really good, everything else was only alright to good. I am mostly writing this review to say that nothing in their menu is vegan/vegetarian and almost all of it has pork. However if you have no dietary restrictions against eating pork do not come here as you can only have 3 sides out of everything in the menu.

Review by Japanese born and raised in Japan. Ramen straight from Kurume, Japan. One of the best tonkotsu ramen regions. I had the rich and my wife had the original. They were both excellent. Not too porky like some of the deep Kurume ramens but kind of the taste that appeals to wider audiences. I spoke to one of the staff and she said that all of the full-time employees are from Japanese Tatsunoya locations. Well be back again. Authentic Kurume ramen. It didnt have the strong smell of cannon ramen, but it was easy to eat and delicious.

I think this is solid Ramen for $17.50 The Rich Tonkatsu broth reminded me of Japan and how their Ramen is made. I got the short noodles which I wasnt a fan of, I think short noodle ramen can work really well but it depends on where they source their noodles or how they make their noodles. Their chasu, or pork, was tender and had a slightly sweet yet not overpoweringly sweet taste. It was well marinated and well cooked and had a uniqueness to it that most Ramen restaurants in California dont have (because they often just imitate chinese chasu). I recommend this restaurant, its a place Id bring people to eat and show them if they were in town.

Didnt expect to find ramen this good in Pasadena! Like others have described, the broth is rich and isnt heavy at all. They also offer a lighter version if you like your broth milder. The noodles are firm and the added toppings really add to the overall flavor. Their chashu choice is interesting as its leaner than I normally see in a ramen shop. The gyoza were a treat and had a nice contrast of crispy and soft, especially with the cooked starch mix. Service was great and felt like what youd get in Japan. Very happy with my meal here and will definitely come back

Never a disappointment if you want mouth-watering, savory, sweet, fat melting chasu that has been marinated prior to being placed atop your ramen. The eggs are also marinated prior so u can order many and have them out fast!! Perfectly soft boiled, and they give that already perfect broth that extra zing when mixed into your ramen. If you add some cheese with this, youre golden for a heavenly time!!! Its great to go for dates, with groups, or even solo. If you like spice, they have apicy options! If not, you can enjoy the Koku-extra chasu like i do! Even as I type this, i just want more ramen!!! I left so full amd warm but dang. After one day, i now wish i could have another bowl with the works!!! I dont normaly lile pork belly but their chasu is just so well done. Even compared to other ramen places, this one still stands alone in how good it is. Parking: There are 2 lots near/walking distance. If you wish to park in the street, thats gona be evil. If you are willing to walk 5 minutes, take that chance. It helps save time, money, and adds to your experience in Old Town Pasadena. Kid-friendliness: If your kid loves ramen. They will enjoy this place to the fullest. They do have baby seats upon request. Wheelchair accessibility: It is all ground level, but it may just be very cramped.

I have lived 5 minutes away from this ramen shop since mid-2022. And it wasnt until an idyllic PTO-fueled Monday afternoon that I bothered to check this place out. In my 5 years living in SoCal, Ive tried countless ramen shops and they all were great and stand out in one way or another. Ive baptized ramen as The only soup worth eating and this shop further proves the veracity, authenticity and validity of that statement. The broth is rich, the pork chasu is cooked to perfection, the thin noodles have the right amount of chew and the gyoza is flavorful. Nothing that you could not find at any other competent ramen shop, such as Hiro Nori, but this is located at the heart of Old Pasadena, the locale gives it a boost from 4 stars to 5 stars. I do wish they also offered Tsukemen, though.

This is a small but filled of warmth restaurant. You need to wait in line for a while but is quick. The ramen here is authentic and the soup flavor is pretty nice and rich. I like their teriyaki chicken wings, it tasted sooo great. The gyoza has 8 pieces but not expensive. They have three flavors of ramen and you can choose the quantity of meat. Also they have thin and thick noodles can choose. The service here is friendly and serving speed is fast. The atmosphere here is warm and delicate. Great! I stumbled into this small ramen shop by chance. There are only three types, clear tonkotsu, heavy tonkotsu and spicy miso. However, the soup is great, rich and not too salty, and the meat is very smooth and tender but not greasy. I ordered the teriyaki chicken wings. Very, very recommended! The skin is very crispy, the meat is super soft and tender! The fried dumplings are average but not very generous. The service and environment are pretty good!

Awesome noodle experience. The default is Koko Tonkotsu (pork noodle soup), which comes with lots of vegetable sides (and you can add more I added corn). You can super-size and go for eight slices of pork if you are hungry. A very rich and tasty broth. I also had garlic shrimp on the side, which were good but not as amazing as the main dish. An other interesting idea is kaedema (noodle refill), but honestly there plenty of solids in my soup already! This place can be busy (had to go elsewhere in the past as the line wrapped around the block), so when they are not busy it s a great time to take the chance. Also, green tea is pretty much mandatory with this food, skip the modern soda alternatives.

I ordered take out with my girlfriend and while it was delicious, the portion size was anemic. A very disappointing amount of soup and noodles considering the cost. Also egg not included???? Every other ramen shop ive ever been to includes ATLEAST half an egg with the meal. Disappointing when taking into account the rather small portion we received (again, we ordered takeout so the portion size may be larger in restaurant idk). I took about 6 normal sized bites before my noodles were completely gone leaving both me and my girlfriend vastly confused. Never had this issue at any other ramen shop. At other ramen shops i usually substitute pork for tofu but here, at a japenese ramen house, they puzzlingly dont even have tofu. Instead of clearing that up through a phone call or something they just wrote no tofu on the ticket while also not giving the pork in there anyway, making the meal feel even smaller. Overall very disappointing. Wish I could get my money back, time to eat a second dinner. Youre much better off going to an equally delicious ramen spot in pasadena like hiro nori or tatsu, as they wont nickle and dime you with tiny portions or eggs.

The spot is placed well arpund other stores and the ramen is absolutely delicious. The best part is that for the price, it is a very very large portion. The menu is quite simple and if you mamged to leave a lot of soup behind and eat the ramen and the extras, they allow you to refill the bowls for a fraction of the price. However, with how big the bowl is, you wont need seconds. The soup is delicious and the servers are very attentive. If you happen to be in the shopping area of pasadena, go to this ramen spot!

What really knocked down a star for me though was the host, who for some reason decided to seat a solo diner who lined up 20 minutes after me, even though I was solo as well. And to make things worse, he sat a couple down who hadnt been in line for longer than 10 minutes, even though I had already stood in line for 45 minutes at that point. Incompetent host and close to $20 for a very decent ramen with egg is a no go for me.

I went here specifically for the special Tatsunoya roll that the LA location doesnt have! One of the best sushi rolls that Ive ever had, which surprised me since the protein is chasu, not fish! The sauce on the roll combined with the flavor of the chasu is so good. The kids loved it so much that we came back for more.

Came here before for many times because of the reviews. But now food quality is not like before anymore. Not good taste and very very little portion. Not match the price you pay. The young lady asked us how do you feel. After We told them the truth, they began to ignore you and give you bad faces

Went on a Sunday around 3pm . There was no wait even though most tables were taken. Our waitress, a young Hispanic girl, was very nice and attentive. The food came out about 10min after we ordered and was flavorful and hot. They do not validate parking so we ended up paying $10 for the parking structure down the street. Definitely recommend this place.

The best Ramen I ve had outside of Japan. Small dining area and there is usually a line during peak meal hours but it is worth the wait. The menu is simple but what they do, they do well. Vegetarian options: They sometimes have specials that are vegetarian friendly. Their regular menu is all pork based though. Parking: Large paid city parking garage is right next door.

Hands down the best ramen in town. Ive tried ramen all over LA and I keep coming back to Tatsunoya. I love how they have a limited menu and make sure every one is done properly. Fast service and comfortable dining atmosphere in the heart of old town Pasadena.

Last night I had dinner with my family at this place and a blonde haired Asian waitress was very rude, when asked for more water she made disappointed faces and even when she acknowledged my request she forgot to bring what I ordered, assuring that she did. Terrible service from this waitress. This business needs to recruit better people, this waitress feels entitled and she thinks she owns the place. They need to teach this crazy waitress to respect customers.

Unfortunately, today I received the worst treatment by a blonde asian female waitress in this place that I have frequented for the last 10 years, where despite not having brought me the extra plate that I requested for my daughter, she insisted that she did. For several minutes she insisted that she brought the dish and then very rudely she told me to ask for it again, obviously never accepting her omission and when I told her that I wanted to speak to her subsupervisor, she said that she was the one in charge. In short, the worst attitude of this person and on top of that yelling at me in front of my family. I will never go back to this place and its a shame that a good place like this hires this kind of people who dont treat and respect their customers.

Absolutely delicious ramen in Pasadena with a limited menu but many specials to try on a rotating basis. I went to Ramen Tatsunoya in Japan and loved it. While I m not sure if this location is affiliated with the Japanese chain, the ramen is nearly as good. Will definitely be coming back here.

Maybe I had too high expectations due to the good reviews. The line was long around 6 pm on Monday. The menu is simple. We had three ramen, an appetizer (too savory for us) and a dessert, which is the only dessert they have. The food was too ordinary for the prices. The waitress did not remember our answer to her question.

I ordered the garlic shrimp as a side here. I took a bite of a shrimp and noticed the entire inside was raw. Not undercooked. Raw. Cold to the touch. Only the outer layer appeared cooked. Imagine thawing shrimp from a grocery store bag and taking a bite of one... that was the texture, temperature, and appearance inside. Heres to hoping I dont become violently ill tonight. I hardly ever give reviews to-date, and certainly dont enjoy giving a 1 star one. I LOVE ramen (and really any good place to eat). However, serving raw shrimp shouldnt happen at a Google-rated 4.6 star place (at the time of this review anyway). Hopefully my experience was just a one-off for this place. Its a shame too because the ramen I also ordered was pretty good; just cant get over that final food bite. The staff promptly refunded the shrimp charge and removed the plate, which was greatly appreciated. They asked if I wanted the order re-made... I declined, talk about taking away the rest of your appetite. Id imagine this was my last visit here.

They only had 1 flavor base of Ramen with only 1 choice of meat, being only pork. The type of Ramen seemed to be either Shio-base or Miso-base ramen. This place has nice and clean restrooms. Would be great if they served fountain drinks instead of just Mexican Coke
