This location continues to go further downhill. Employees are typically painfully unfriendly at best, food quality has diminished and is increasingly more expensive. I feel the quantity of food has also reduced over time. This ramen in my pic was taken before I had even taken a bite. I probably won t be back :-/

Food quality has been consistent however they have raised their price so the quantity of food is quite less compared to the price. 1 dish is close to $20!

The ramen tastes good. However, the portion is small and the price is high. $20 for a bowl of ramen is a lower value compared to a lot of ramen places that even taste better than Tatsu. They open late tho. So it could still be a good option in some way if you crave for ramen in late night.

UPDATE: about three hours later: just threw up about 4 times and am experiencing chills. I used to eat Tatsu religiously in college down in Westwood but this was genuinely the worst ramen I ve ever had in my life. Thank god the egg was good. I d prefer to eat a package from the dollar tree than ever eat at another Tatsu. Price was insane for a big bowl of hot flavorless oil. I will say, the servers were kind and it was a quiet atmosphere, but their food has truly taken a turn for the worst.

I had the chicken ramen and Im just going to say it was nasty, simple and short it was nasty and the price was pretty high. I had my partners vegan ramen and it was decent. Seating is limited and uncomfortable and very awkward introduction where you have to order from a ipad and find yourself and seat and then bring out the food to you. Skip it.

My daughter and I love to eat ramen together, but we generally have to do it when were out without my wife as shes not a big fan of this type of soup. She is exceedingly particular about the base: it cannot be too oily or salty and she is very, very sensitive to odd or off flavors. I can happily report that not only will my wife eat Tatsu ramen, she has even been known to suggest it to my daughter and I when asked the question, What should we do for dinner? Truly a ramen for both the ramen enthusiast and those who think ramen is just meh. There is nothing meh about Tatsu ramen. The pork is delicious, tender, and not too fatty. This ramen has umami to spare.

Ramen looked good but in honest opinion was the worst ramen broth I tasted. It was way too salty and hard to finish. The price was too overboard for how the overall taste of the ramen was. Also they gave me some garlic paste and it smelled very expired. I m so glad I didn t put it in my soup. It would have made it way worse. Not saying this is a bad place to eat. Just not for my taste. Over priced and not good quality. 2/10.

So disappointed with my last visit here (last night 4/21). I come here all the time! The ramen is amazing and the fried rice is the best Ive tried but for the amount theyre serving now a days.. the green onion and ginger used to be just a garnish now (look at picture) it was 30% green onion/ginger!!! LIKE WHAT! This doesnt even show the full amount since I ate some of the green onion/ginger. The ramen was a much smaller portion than we always get. Its time for us to boycott these businesses that think its okay to raise the price but lower the portion of food youre getting. This is ridiculous. This place was already expensive but it was worth it since we would get large portion and it was enough to feed my bf and I. We were left hungry.. bye bye tatsu! It was nice while it lasted. (See pic from their website of fried rice shows how much garnish they usually put vs what I got last night).

The food was delicious and the staff were very kind and attentive. The only silly gimmick was the giant community table, which consumes so much floor space inside the restaurant. Update: I gave it the benefit of the doubt and came for the third time. I came around 9:30pm when it was raining on a weekday so it wasnt the lunch batch. Unfortunately it was still too salty. Also it wasnt flavorfully salty, but more like drinking water with too much salt added. It was difficult to drink all of the broth. The chicken meat itself was also way too salty. Great service, love ordering ahead on touchpad and just sitting down where ever but the broth needs work IMO. Original: Ive been here twice since the first time was wayyyy too salty and I thought the chef was having an off day but the second time was also salty. While the broth was slightly better the second time, the chicken meat is extremely salty as well as the noodles. Ill give it a third shot at night to see if it improves. Im willing to give it another go since my brother and my sister in law swears that this place has the best ramen but Im not convinced yet. Had the chicken ramen

A decent choice for ramen in the area, if a bit overpriced. Easy lot parking, moderate amount of seating, clean and welcoming atmosphere. Friendly staff. Ordering is smooth and seamless with the kiosk. Food comes fast. I ve tried ramen a few times from here, overall too salty for my taste, but it could be the soup base I ordered. The Birria ramen is a Mexican Asian fusion that s creative, but I personally thought the flavors didn t work well together. If you like strong flavors definitely try their soul (tonkotsu) ramen, it s very rich and hearty.

Nothing really hits the spot than late night ramen! We had just gotten out of a late night at the studio, and were hankering for something delicious and filling to eat. Ive heard of this place before, but never came in- for the area in Pasadena its pretty standard (expensive), you help yourself to the tablets on the side and pay for your items and take a seat. So, if you are socially anxious, this could ease some of anxiousness when ordering some freshly ordered ramen! Had the opportunity to try the Bold Ramen, which I believe is their signature tonkotsu ramen, with a good hearty cuts of fatty pork and a dense broth. Its very filling, the texture was decent, and the flavors were good. They had a ramen burger I was so tempted to try- so Ill be sure to come back and try that... The location is situated in a small plaza, so parking isnt usually a problem, especially at night. Great that they are one of the few places that closes that late in the area! Until midnight, its unheard of nowadays!! The mural they have on the side of the walls look to be commissioned as theres a signature and date on it- thought that was a nice artistic touch! Another little detail was that the bowls are all different: get to the bottom, and you get a unique message, so finish slurping those noodles! Overall, good ramen fanfare that opens late, is clean with decent service with a very casual mood!

I don t know what happened after Covid pandemic. Tatsu used to be my favorite Ramen place but now everything is changed. This Tatsu just become the worst even ramen in my life. Before this was a ramen place in Shanghai China they made ramen with instant noodle pack and this one the totally out of my impression of ramen. It is beyond my imagination. At the beginning when they bring up the noodle I don t even recognize that. It looks like a bow of taco with soup, and indeed it taste like a taco 97%. They made ramen with the taco meat and with flash lemon, onion, coriander and red reddish. The soup doesn t taste any Tonkatsu favors. They must make the soup with taco seasoning. I don t believe this ramen actually exists. It tasted just like taco and I still smelling taco in my mouths. They must hired and street taco chief to cook ramen. This is the worst ramen ever and I will never go back to this shop again.

Very tiny store barely any place to sit during lunch I feel like the big table in the middle can be split into more separate small tables but its probably more used for large parties however does take up a lot of space when there is a big lunch rush. Trying to wait for a spot can take about 40 to 50 minutes. Waiting can take a while but there are plenty of other places to check out while you wait I recommend going to the comic book store or the sports store. Great food I enjoy the soul ramen and it came out fairly quickly. Staff was pretty quick about getting the food out and whatever you need like sesame seeds or garlic. But I got kind of crowded trying to order at the iPads. Outside seating is very rough because the tables arent that stable they wobble causing me to spill some of the soup at times. Parking can get really crowded quickly and you might have to find some parking in the streets or at closer plaza. Be careful ordering for take out because you want to make sure you have everything before you leave otherwise it can be rough waiting for your order again.

I really hate using ordering on line apps and services, it airways seems like such a hassle and a pain. However, theirs was seamless and very easy to use and fast. They also go our order together really fast as well. I love the fact that they are opened late!! Till midnight. And their To go bags are informative and fun. You can learn a bit about their business and how it came to be. Interesting, the only place that has the ramen packaged so that the broth doesnt touch your other items until you are ready to eat and you can use the container that it came in to eat it all, which was a nice sized take out ramen bowl. I love that. Dietary restrictions: They have gluten free noodles here as well, which is kinda rare to find. Parking: Its in a open mall with other stores, with a limited number of pen spaces. however Ive never had a problem getting a spot.

Sadly, one of our worst ramen experiences in LA. I ordered the hippie ramen, which is the vegan ramen. While others have reviewed it well, I felt it lacked depth in the broth and tasted like a canned mushroom soup base. The toppings were fine, but nothing outstanding compared to other great ramen in the area. We also ordered the bold ramen, which again did not have bold flavors and the broth was felt standard and nothing interesting. The noodles were small and chewy, reminded. And, worst of all, the slices of pork we got were about 90% fat. Again, we had high hopes for this location, as others have loved this place but we wont be returning. In addition, the prices were incredibly expensive coming out to $50 for 2 ramens and 2 CANNED drinks. Not worth!

Big shout out to the general manager on duty who showed tremendous judgement and an ability to be flexible today. To set the scene, my wife and I brought our 9-month old and 3 year old daughter to the area for a new years hike. While we waited out the rain we came out for some ramen. Since we had our dog with us, we decided it would be best to move 2 of the tables outside together so that we can enjoy a meal together. No more than 5 minutes after we ordered, we were greeted by this over ambitious general manager who forced us to move because we were blocking the walkway. Never mind the fact that it was drizzling outside, never mind the fact that it was 55 degrees outside, never mind the fact that 3 feet to our left (see the picture) another group of 4 did EXACTLY THE SAME THING. We were not allowed to stay and had to return to our car where we finally enjoyed a cozy meal together. The food was adequate and lived up to expectation but none of that matters. We won t be coming back. It s bad enough that we couldn t enter the restaurant (our fault, after all we brought our dog with us) but for this GM and the staff to act so rudely towards me and my wife when there was MINIMAL foot traffic in the area means that we will happily take our business to a friendlier place; like maybe right next door. Happy new year everyone!

Ramen is good enough for me. But for other people was small and expensive than standard. You order online and the waitress serve the food to your table. Flavor was good, they have about seven different options, chicken, pork and vegan. Place is cool, clean and the service is fast and gentle. I m more excited about places that take your order when you are ready to eat, not going to the tablet and make your order by yourself. I can say if you are a good eater the portion could be small for you. We paid $41 for two ramen and water. Plus tip.

The ramen is great but is overpriced considering the toppings and the quantity.

I ate my ramen at 830 pm. Im writing this review at 230 am after throwing up this ramen. It tasted good. But not worth the food poisoning that came after. Decent service. Left me alone till my water was empty then got me a new glass.. Only reason this wasnt a 1 star review.

My wife, son and I found this place accidentally through Google and came for early dinner for the first time. The ramen was delicious, but despite placing our own orders and paying on tablets at the restaurant entrance, the small portions of ramens were $18 each. Thats steep for minimal service and no side dishes or drinks.

Nice wooded interior. Chicken Bowl needed more ingredients and flavor. Our to go order came minus chopsticks, ginger and wasabi. Which is something you would expect for the high price.

its difficult to order a vegan bowl online, the naked ramen comes with vegan noodles but the other options are far from, and the hippie ramen does not list the naked noodles as an option for flower children looking forward to dining in and changing this to 5 stars, i appreciate the attempt

They ll make you show a vax card and ID before ordering takeout from an iPad inside. Then they ll tell you to wait outside for 20 minutes for your order. Bizarre. Decent food, but complete nonsense with their ordering method. Reminds me of a Seinfeld episode.

This review is (probably) specific to take-out: ordered one bold and one old school ramen. They give you the broth and the noodles in separate containers, and the idea is you poor the broth over the noodles and they instantly become soft and delicious. Instead, the noodles were impossibly clumped together and the broth wasn t nearly hot enough to break them up. So they remained a gross clump that didn t absorb any of the yumminess of the broth. I had to snip them with scissors, and even then they didn t taste good. All that said, the broth really is yummy. Not sure what the solution is for take out, or if our order had been sitting out just a little too long, but what I got was not worth ~$17, and I won t be returning for take out.

This is one of the top ramen joints on my quest to find the perfect ramen. I look for a few things: 1. Depth of Flavor - I want to taste layers. I dont just want a broth that kinda tastes like pork or shoyu or chicken. I want deep flavor. 2. Noodle texture - they should chew well, and have great consistency, not to rubbery, not to easily broken. 3. Meat (if applicable) - decently thick pieces. No thinly sliced, paper-thin things. It should be firm and have a sufficient amount of fat. 4. Extras - things like green onion, wood ear mushroom, soft-boiled eggs, should all be options. The more, the merrier. Tatsu has all of this. This place does ramen the way it should be done. Old School, Japanese style. This is why it is in my top 5 places in So. Cal. However, I am in search of other spots.....

Broth was waaay too salty. It didn t have any other flavor aside from salt. Chashu was ok Noodles were pretty good They packaged everything in plastic cups which is also a disappointment. Wouldn t recommend. Honestly so far didn t have any good ramen spot in Pasadena, definitely need to travel somewhere else to eat some decent ramen

Last weekend, my girlfriend and her friends ordered the chicken ramen for takeout. Immediately after eating it, one of her friends threw up. Four days later, my girlfriend is still bedridden with severe nausea. We believe it is due to the MSG in the food. Probably not worth the risk if there are other options available.
