Lobster bisque was a disappointment. Needed more cream and lobster meat. I would call this essence of lobster soup. Brussel sprouts were great Mac and cheese was great steak was under cooked but the ends were better back in 2020 the biscuits/ bread was better. Bread pudding was super heavy. Not worth the drive and $400 + bill for wedding anniversary dinner.

One of my favorite places on the planet. Let me explain why.
Let's talk about the food -
I do love a good steak, but I'm one of those who wants it well done, no pink, and butterflied. Usually, in a fine steak house, that request makes the wait staff cry, but the staff at The Royce doesn't bat an eye. I have had some of the finest well-done steaks there EVER.
In addition to the carnivores in our family, we also have two vegans. The Royce is one of their favorite places, too, because the go out of their way to have delicious vegan options. Things like mushroom risotto or cauliflower steak, charred and seasoned. My daughter has drooling dreams of that cauliflower steak. And the sorbet they have is vegan - and absolutely delicious. She talks about it all the time. Thank you, The Royce, for not turning your nose up at the vegans!
In short, the food is exquisite and I've had nearly everything on the menu. The only disappointment, if you can call it that, was the cocktail sauce for the shrimp cocktail (which I love). But that cocktail sauce is hotter than blazes! Sadly, too much spice for me.
Now, let's talk about the service -
Impeccable. Thoughtful. Warm. Efficient. All of these words describe our experience with the service at The Royce. The restaurant has become one of our favorites and we make a point of going about once a month, right when they open, so it's nice and quiet and we can enjoy the views over the south lawn of the Langham while sipping on one of their amazing craft cocktails.
There are many steak houses in Pasadena. But there is only one Royce. That is our choice for the best steakhouse around and I urge you to give it a try. Flawless.

The restaurant is located inside the Langham. We were here for my birthday dinner and the staff were very friendly and helpful. They helped with moving around our reservation. Server was very attentive and recommended some of the best food on the menu. Their vegetarian menu was very limited.
We ordered the beet salad, pan seared salmon and the brownie. The portion sizes are small. Bread was so fresh but unfortunately they ran out of it very quickly. Lavender lemonade is something I would definitely go back for. Excellent atmosphere and fantastic experience. One to cherish for!

I recently celebrated a special occasion at Royce Steakhouse, and once again, it did not disappoint.
Our waiter, Jorge V., greeted us with a genuine smile and made us feel right at home. His attentiveness and professionalism truly enhanced our dining experience.
As for the food, it was nothing short of spectacular. Each dish, every bite was a delight to the senses.
Overall, Royce Steakhouse continues to be a favorite destination for special celebrations. With delicious food, impeccable service, and a welcoming atmosphere, it's no wonder we keep coming back. Thank you, Jorge V., for making our evening even more memorable.

If you believe $12 for water is a good price, then you wont understand me. We just asked them to bring water before ordering, they didnt give us options but these huge bottles for each of us. At the end we saw the price of $12 each! It was the most expensive water in my life . Be careful, because other than water youll spend a lot on the food. We ordered baked potatoes. It was mashed potatoes when they bought it... Weird, right? Everything looks lactury! It will be a good choice for a very-very important date/event. You will feel very special inside, it has a lactury environment!

We recently stayed at the hotel and decided to have a romantic dinner at The Royce. We made a reservation and arrived on time, and the waitress initially seated us at a beautiful glass window. We were excited to have such a lovely view! However, ten minutes later, she returned and asked us to move, as the table was reserved for someone else. We were very disappointed to be relocated to a small table against the wall. This significantly dampened our evening. We ordered the 8-ounce filet, grilled iceberg salad, and the everything-stuffed potato. I cannot recommend the grilled iceberg salad. It felt like the chef tried too hard to reinvent the classic blue cheese wedge. The black garlic was off-putting, and the pomegranates did not pair well with the pickled onions and bacon. The stuffed potato was good but not great. On a positive note, the steak was cooked to perfection. We also ordered a bottle of 2021 Caymus. The waiter brought out the one we requested, along with another special edition Caymus with an upcharge. While we were open to trying the special edition, the waiter couldnt provide any information about it, and there was no sommelier available to explain the new special edition Caymus. Overall, our $500 dinner was not worth it, and we do not plan to return to The Royce.

Beautiful setting for a meal with bucolic views and plush white sofa seats. Good steak collection but somewhat offset by too much creamy and saucy experimentation with vegetables. Fish tasted marinated in salt.

Beautiful environment. Service was average and difficult to understand our waiter. Steaks were over or under cooked but the quality of the meat was as advertised.

Several weeks ago, I made reservations to stay at the hotel for my wife s birthday. I also made reservations here. I asked for the window. When we got there, there was a 4-top by the window but they refused to give it is saying it was for 4. They tried to sit us by the kitchen door. Luckily, we saw one away from there and they sat us there. 20 minutes later they seated a couple on the 4 top. When they gave us our menus, they did not give us the wine list. That took another 10+ minutes. And then wanted to rush us to order before I even had a chance to review the wine list. Our server was pleasant thru the night when he was present. We had to flag down other ones to fill water, get salt, etc. As expensive as this is, you d think they d be there to pour your wine nope! And add to the ambiance , there was a 25 year old birthday next door so we had to listen to loud dance music for half the dinner. Except for the baked potatoes (cool and mushy with a cheezy sauce), our food was really good. The wedge was the best my wife ever had. The lobster bisque was delicious. My filet mignon melted in my mouth. Her ribeye, though, was nothing special. They have a nice wine list; however, the mark-up is ridiculously high. Bottom line: the overall experience was not worth what we paid.

Solid food, but the service was disappointing throughout the meal. Two of seven main courses came out well after the rest. Sides and the sauces for the steaks came out mid-way through the main course. Dessert was dropped off without any silverware and it took two separate requests and a 15 to 20 minute wait to secure any. Wine also came very late during the main course. The tea ordered with dessert never materialized, and although coffee was served a refill was never offered. The staff was pleasant but clearly overwhelmed. One or two glitches happen, but the staff, perhaps due to understaffing, just did not manage the basics for a restaurant of this caliber.

We went for our first anniversary celebration. We ordered the grilled octopus, lobster bisque, whole branzino and a side of mushrooms. Its a very expensive restaurant. The service was terrible. The waiter didnt take our menus from us after ordering, didnt take away the unneeded wine glasses, didnt clear our plates until we asked and then didnt wipe the table (we did it with our napkins). We had to ask multiple times for things like another napkin (which wed used to clean the table), more water, etc. The kicker was wed told them it was our anniversary and not a word of it until AFTER wed ordered and eaten dessert. They brought us a free dessert after wed eaten the one we ordered (of course they charged us for the first one). We really didnt want two deserts. The service did not stand up for a restaurant in this price range. Regarding the food, the grilled octopus was excellent! The lobster bisque was so-so. The flavor tasted more like a squash soup with nutmeg. We had told them we were splitting things but they brought the soup in one large bowl. We asked for two small bowls and were told they didnt have any and we were best to just eat out of the same bowl. The fish was ok, but I didnt find it up to the price tag (I think $60). There wasnt much meat on the fish. The mushrooms were horrible. Tough and the flavor was not good. We did not eat them. Nobody asked why they werent touched. This was a $160 meal. Our anniversary celebration turned into a constant discussion about the terrible service and mediocre food. We wont be back. Dont think because you pick an expensive place with good reviews that theres going to be a good experience! BTW, parking is $15 with validation at the restaurant. You must valet.

It could be because it was 1st time, but everything was awesome. Absolutely a fabulous up scale, special occasion Steakhouse. The perfect place to celebrate special birthday or anniversary. Its in the Huntington Royce Hotel. In my opinion, the most elegant hotel in the broader Pasadena/San Marino/South Pasadena/Los Angeles area. Also ideal for weddings. MLovely grounds. Steakhouse is sublime. Great serving staff. Loved our anniversary dinner here. Our party of four had the ribeye and salmon. Expensive, can be, yes, if you include wine and cocktails but well worth it. We had one of the best steaks we have had in a while. Our server, Christy, was charming and most accommodating. She was very knowledgeable of the items on the menu. An absolute delight! We found everyone we came in contact with friendly, helpful and most charming from the valet service to the members of the management. The hotel and restaurant is breathtaking! A great opportunity to dress up people. This is the ultimate! Parking: It appeared that only valet parking is available. Wheelchair accessibility: I saw a couple of people in wheelchairs, so I would say yes.

We visited on the third and final day of our familys stay at Langham Huntington. The atmosphere and service were very good, The New York Prime steak was very good, but the filet mignon was dry and tasteless, and the gambas was also unsatisfactory. However, I am satisfied with the atmosphere and service.

I usually dont like mashed potatoes, but NOT here - the pom puree was so good that I couldnt stop eating! Our server was amazingly kind and patience with me and she was never pushy! The whole eating experience was very serene, something I cannot say for any other restaurants. Parking: you can park on the street or you can use their valet parking, but theres no self parking.

Had dinner here today. The staff is exceptional, starting with the valet to the waitresses to the random people walking around who ask if you need help. The grounds are very nice. The food was excellent. It is pricey but combined with the service and ambiance, probably worth it. Risotto was okay and the most expensive thing we ordered somehow so maybe consider another veggie option. Everything else was great. We got the beet salad, carrot sides, salmon, and bread pudding for dessert.

I had an extra sensorial experience dining at The Royce. A friend of mine asked once what do I look for in a restaurant and I responded, I want to be surprised. The Royce surprised me with a very innovative menu. I ordered the hamachi crudo (exquisite), the beet spaghetti, on seared salmon with lemon fennel coriander crust, yuzu-marinated asian pears, cauliflower confetti, kohlrabi noodles (divine!!). In addition we ordered a whole lobster (cooked just right), heirloom carrots with nuts crust, and other ingredients, roasted to perfection. We didnt want to stop. Everything is very creative! A warm salute and congratulations to the chef for creating such a unique menu where you appreciate the fusion of all the different ingredients, textures, aromas. The plating and presentation of the food, what we see is delightful, it enhances the whole experience. We sat in front of the beautiful lawn. The restaurant is beautifully decorated, its relaxing and at the same time sofisticayed. Christy, our server was wonderful, very attentive, knowledgeable and approachable and genuine. I was cold and even offered a blanket to place on my lap. Are we going to recommend The Royce, absolutely!

I took a co-worker here for what should have been a great steak. We both ordered prime ribeye one looked like a ribeye the other like a New York strip. When I asked the waiter he checked with a chef who said it was just a different type of ribeye. Good thing they had sharp steak knives to cut this Chuey mysterious meat. Needless to say, I only had a few bites and the waiter asked if I wanted a to-go box I of course said no. At the price, I expect the following: Sorry will get this so-called ribeye replaced for you not let me ask the chef. Secondly, if you pick up a guest plate with nothing hardly eaten and they refuse a to-go box you ask if everything was okay. I spent 400 dollars here and left dissatisfied and hungry. Hotel had great steak not so much.

2hr minimum visit. Located inside the hotel with valet only parking, the Royce restaurant has a very slow casual elegance vibe. I ordered their Australian ribeye wagyu steak. Did not have flavor and though a decent steak, it should have been more succulent. The shrimp cocktail was ok. The street corn did not taste like street corn. The baked potato was good, I really enjoyed how they used potato mousse to smooth out the dish. The duck fries need to be tried. Not because they are the best but because its made in duck fat, yes, duck fat. I wouldnt come back due to the price of what you get, theres better out there for a $100 steak. But the ambience can make me want to give it another shot.

This is a top tier steakhouse without a doubt. Between the 4 of us we had 4 different cuts of steak from different farms across the world. Each one was of the highest quality and was cooked and seasoned to perfection. Highly recommend that you ask your waiter about not only wine pairings but also the sauce pairings for each steak. Top service and relaxing yet intimate atmosphere accompanied our flawless food. We will definitely be back.

What a great place! Long hallways, mirrors, big restrooms... I appreciate Pasadena Cheeseburger Week gave me the opportunity to come to The Royce. Just inside the Langham, where the restaurant lies and the restrooms, its beautiful inside gives you a big welcoming. Their vinoteca is awesome, and so it is their virgin mojito. Fresh and minty, you will not miss the alcohol. I had the wagyu; certainly, it is expensive, but you do not get to try this meat everyday. The burger was like a big mushroom, and just the smell of it before trying would be enjoyable. If you want more, ask for the fryes! I came after a long walk from Fillmore Metro Station, which was good to put down the burger. Anyway, they validate parking, although I can not say if the whole of it or not.

The dining experience here is high-end and a stroll through the grounds of the Langham Hotel after dinner to walk off a few calories is always a treat.

The manager on duty that night made sure to come and introduce himself to all the guests from what I saw. Service attitude was good but slow. Not sure if it was just because there was a party going on in the wine room? We sat around 7:20/7:25 and didnt order until about 8 which seems a bit long if you ask me since we were ready to order not too long after seating. Personally got the 12 oz filet which was very good. Unfortunately they do not have a bone in filet which is my favorite.

Exquisite Grand Service by Simon, Hallmark of The Royce: Simon, le sommelier extraordinaire, is the sine qua non, the quintessential element in the haut service provided by the Royce at the Langham Hotel. The times that I have gone to the Royce, Simon has been there to bestow courtesies, thoughtful kindness, exemplary service, vast knowledge of all things potable, and the wonderful ability & willingness to impart his vast knowledge to those guests who would like to be more educated & informed in the vast field of enology. In other words, Simon is a great teacher, and I value his enthusiasm in edifying me to be better in appreciating all wines. For example, when I asked his advice for what would be a good wine pairing for their Wood Grilled Rib Eye, which was medium rare meat was tender, melt-in-your-mouth beefy fattiness w/ a nice meaty chaw. White oak added a touch of astringent smokiness & hickory a passing sweetness. Salting was perfect since it emphasized the beefiness, & spicing was subtle allowing the meat flavours to shine through. Different parts of the steak had different textures from soft velvety to a rougher chaw producing different mouthfeel to entertain the palate, Simon brought me a 3 wine flight so that I could pair the rib eye three different ways. 1) BV Reserve Tapestry 2011 Beaulieu Vineyard, Napa: The low-yields of an exceptional cool vintage gave our 2011 Reserve Tapestry its refined elegance, while five Bordeaux-heritage varietals contributed layer-upon-layer of flavor complexity. This is a wine that shows the artistry of the winemaker. Jeffrey chose Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc for the wines core of briary blackberry and cassis expression and its firm tannin structure. He then added Merlot for plush mid-palate texture and a hint of cherry. Petit Verdot and Malbec complete the blend with nuances of ripe plum, rose, forest loam and graphite. 2) Camins del Priorat 2013 Alvaro Palacio, Catalunya, Espanya: Deep and bright on the nose, this Priorat blend is earthy and ripe. Jammy and full on the palate, this wine is muscular but balanced, showing deep black fruit and toasty oak flavors. A dark finish suggests black coffee and uncomplicated berry tones. 3) Ridge, Lytton Springs 2013 Sonoma, California: Nose of ripe blackberry, pepper, licorice and a hint of vanilla. Concentrated plum and black cherry fruit on the palate with supple tannins, minerality and balanced acidity. Long, layered finish with notes of ripe fig and dried herbs. Blend: 74% Zinfandel, 16% Petite Sirah, 8% Carignane, 2% Mataro This thoughtful presentation was all about comparing & contrasting....a method which is a hall mark of all great educators. Also many thanks to S. Southerlin for also taking care of us.
