This was my first time at madres brunch, and it will be the last time. With so many options in riverside, service and food quality are the only things that set these insta-trendy brunch places apart. Unfortunately, this place didnt have either. For starters, the parking is absolutely horrible. The neighborhood is packed, the alleys are packed, and there are not nearly enough parking stalls. Luckily, my friends arrived early, so I did not have to wait since they were already seated. But because of that, no one came to offer me a drink, including water, until they came to take our order. Even then, we had to ask 3 different times to have our water glasses refilled, and that was after we ordered bottled water. I ordered a Mimosa flight, and when the waitress brought it, she spilled a good amount and didnt even offer to refill it. Each time we ordered additional drinks, we had to stop someone and get their attention to call our server over because she never came back around. Most of us ordered a variety of chilaquiles, and one of us ordered french toast. The French toast looked amazing. Unfortunately, it came out almost half an hour before the rest of our food. So when it was time for us all to eat, the french toast was soggy. We sent it back but canceled before it came because it was taking way too long the second time around. The portions on the chilaquiles were all different.I barely had any birria. The chips were super soggy and cold, and my over easy egg was well done. The service was nonexistent, and because we were a party at six, there was a 20% service charge. We asked to speak to the manager and this young girl came out. She didnt introduce herself, she didnt apologize, She didnt ask how they could do better or even ask what happened. She agreed to take off the service charge. And as she walked away, she rolled her eyes.. the gentleman cleaning our table was very polite. If the food was good, the price would be worth it, but in this case, it wasnt. Id skip this place and go to another one of the many brunch options.

2 stars cause the coffee was good, but the food absolutely sucked! We tried the chilaquiles rojos and huevos rancheros. I m not picky at all so the fact that I couldn t even eat it cause it tasted really bad says a lot. The chilaquiles came out fast and cold. The red sauce had a weird flavor, It was almost inedible. The huevos rancheros was even worse. First of all the big chunks of bell peppers weren t necessary, the soggy tortilla at the bottom was disgusting. The beans were there somewhere in the pile of nastiness they call huevos rancheros. If I ever come back it d be for the super sweet pancakes and waffles if I ever have a Sweettooth. My daughters couldn t even eat them. And please change that stupid music with the pool party dj on the screen. If we wanted to have that ambience we would be at a pool party awkwardly dancing in front of a camera.

Very expensive, got sat with no silverware, kept asking for help, one dish came out not hot, atmosphere was nice. Ordered 2 waffle dishes, divarciados, orange juice, lemonade, ice coffee,. $84.27 (including no tip). I can see spending $40-50... but not almost $100. Kid-friendliness: No kids options

This was a very nice place and a not so nice neighborhood. All of the employees were very nice and very helpful. The food was really good and the service was also awesome. The ambience was very cool. I walked in and thought it was a full bar. It is not, but they do have great beers and great mimosas, and the price was not bad at all so if you want a really nice brunch, then check this place out. I don t think you will be disappointed so so shop local, eat local, and spend local.

The pace is really nice but the food is mediocre. Chilaquiles were not flavorful at all and $7 extra for meat when there is only 0.5 oz of meat. Like 6 small slivers of chicken. Won t be back.

Its not worth it. Everything about this place was never again for us. Food looks better than it is. But the coffee is amazing. This should be a coffee shop instead. Our server was very nice, but she took forever to get our order than another 15 minutes to get our drinks and, after that, about 45 minutes for our food to come. Our food was cold, and $7 to add 5 strips of chicken was ridiculous.

This is a one night stand place. Hit it and quit it. The IG content creators are all hype and give fake reviews. I keep it honest and real. The service sucked. You just see the waitresses talking and laughing instead of helping customers. My water took 30min to land on the table. The mazapán coffee did not honor the name. Shouldve stayed home and ate gramas cooking. Never again.

the service sucks here! the wait time was 45 min which is okay, but then they sat us down and it s like they forgot that we were there. We had to go up and ask them if they forgot about us and they were like oh where are you sitting? they came and finally helped us the food took forever they never came to refill our waters and they brought out some food before they even brought out or drinks, they took like 20 min to bring me a michelada and I basically had to prepare it myself because they just brought me a glass with the mix and the beer by itself, then the waitress never came back and we had to hunt her down to get our bill, would not recommend and the food was mid.

Review №32

The friendliness of the server was great (gentleman with curly hair). Ordered drinks and food upon arrival. Took 40 minutes to get our food. During the 40 minute wait, the server came by once (1 time) to refill water. Rest of time we were dodged because there was no food coming out. Food finally comes out and we had ordered huevos rancheros. It s one small fried tortilla, layered with a thick ham on top of refried beans that seem canned. Then it s bathed in a tomato sauce that definitely tastes and looks canned as well. The potato was good (def not canned altho they would have rolled with it if it was an option). The coffee was average (iced americano and iced dulce de leche). The food did not need to take 40 minutes since the only items that truly seemed to be cooked on the spot were the eggs. The ambiance is interesting. It s a Monday and they play house music with djs prerecorded. Hard to hear folks across table. Nonetheless, I won t be coming back and I don t recommend coming here.

I told the server about my pancakes and she offered to make them again wish I denied I just don t understand why they would even hand them like that to anyone specially with those high prices. To top it off My husband got steak wish was also burnt. The only good thing about this place was the drinks. Paid 60 for burnt food.

Tried this place for the first time. Spent about $80 for two people, which felt like a lot considering we didn t even purchase any alcoholic drinks. The food was good, not bad nor different. Wish their salsas had more flavor, they were watered down. Our server was very attentive, and really nice. They weren t playing loud music, so we could just hear little kids being loud. Alcohol license was not active yet. Personally wouldn t come back. Servers were attentive though. So that was nice.

I m all about being honest, and If you like to boast about loud, crowded brunch then this is your place. The food was ok , Service sucked. I was in for The One sandwich and let me tell you I wasn t expecting so much bread on a sandwich. I mean this thing had to be Texas toast meets birria for first time or something. Brunch was good but not better than some home made food. I honestly should ve stayed home and had moms cooking. Idk why I even went out to try this in the first place. They need more selection other than fried tortillas with sauce. Cmon now. What s is it 25th century white? Keep the original Mexican flavor and maybe you ll have it chilaquiles can be made at home with some oil, tortillas and a can of tomato sauce and everything else just seems so bland and over priced. I m definitely not hitting this again. There s a brunch of other places to try :p no pun intended. Please if you re Mexican, your mom won t like this, she cooks better of course. Two start and two fingers peace!

Last but not least we ordered the churro french toast (4) a bit dry to my liking but a great flavor Let me tell you about the service ! Our server was. We came in and was asked how many people in our group I said 2 signing two with my fingers because the place was too loud and the man at the door said peace and love found it a little strange, then our order was taken, we stepped out to the restroom and our silverware was gone , that indicated the place is disorganized, I said ok maybe the food will be worth coming back , unfortunately we were not satisfied, the chilaquiles were cold the fruit salad looked like it was not properly washed, and they give you kids size water glass , oh and the older man ( peace n love) maybe the owner? , I overheard him saying something like a scale of 1-5 what s your rating to customers very un professional , had he asked me I would ve said 1

Hopefully its a joke but I dont share stuff on Instagram thats a joke for my business Beware of This Place s Unethical Practices As someone who has worked in the food industry for years, I know how important cleanliness and respect for customers are. Unfortunately, this coffee shop has crossed a line that s both shocking and unacceptable. It has come to my attention that the staff here is willing to dump old, soapy sponge water into drinks as a joke when dealing with rude customers. This is not only disgusting but completely unethical. No matter how difficult a customer may be, there s no excuse for tampering with food or drinks. It s a serious health hazard and shows a complete lack of respect for both the industry and the people they serve. I would strongly advise anyone who cares about cleanliness, professionalism, and basic human decency to avoid this place. You deserve better.

Overpriced and underwhelming. The restaurant itself is very cutesy, very mindful, very demure, but the food was mediocre at best. For being so close to Mexico, each glass coke is $6, which is fine if the quality of the food was better. The churro French toast was burnt and I ve had better churros from Sam s Club. The Divorciados lacked presentation and taste. The sauces were bland, and unlike the overcooked French toast, the baked potato was undercooked. The service was fine. The servers were nice and attentive to us and others.

Its a spacious, clean place with friendly service but I feel like the food still lacks flavor, the chilaquiles I ordered honestly smelled sour and I knew they were about to go bad, I hope they have more control over that, and my strawberry pancakes tasted enchilados as if they were made where they prepare other food, the strawberries looked like they were sliced where they chop onion because they had a strong onion flavor. The chocolate pancakes were a bit dry. The staff is friendly although it takes a while to give you the food. I think they are starting, I hope they improve in everything.

I went on Sunday August 11th for brunch. There is limited parking and might have to park in the neighborhood. Once we were seated, we placed our drink order. My two friends ordered 1 Americans and a house coffee which to our surprise was not good. The creamer (milk) they provided was in those tiny black cups for salsa. We finally placed our order for food, I got the rachero plate & my two other friends ordered red chilaquiles. My friend ordered the Madres plate and they charged her an extra $2.00 for scrambled eggs when it says on the menu that it comes with eggs. Why would there be an extra charge for that? My nephew got a side of beans with cheese on top & asked for a side of more cheese. It was an extra $3.00 for a salsa cup size. They dont have their liquor license yet, which was fine. The owner seems nice. He introduced himself to our table. There was a family cross from us who waited almost 30-40 mins to get drinks. They ended up leaving. The location is cramped and gets hot very quickly. They have great marketing on social media but they are very unorganized. I understand its a new location and it takes time to get things up and running. The waitresses need experience carrying drinks also. We heard about 2 glass cups shattered while there and drinks fall on a guest..

I really enjoyed the food at this restaurant. I got the Manhattan French Toast, a Birria Omelet and a flight of Aqua Fresca. Everything and I mean everything was absolutely delicious. The only reason why I did not give this location a 5 is because our server had to be asked for every single thing, we had no utensils, she never gave us any updates on our food and she also brought our French toast to the table, almost dropped the food and stuck her finger in it accidentally, instead of her taking it back right away I had to tell her to take it back because her finger was in it. Although she didn t give the best service we received amazing service from Ivan. He was super quick, good energy and made sure that everything was corrected and rectified. Thank you Ivan for turning our experience around and making the brunch enjoyable. This location has applied for its liquor license so unfortunately they do not have liquor at this time.

Food was out of this world. No drinks yet though since they are waiting for license. That might help the vibes. Will come back soon though.

Horrible experience! $6 for a warm small bottled coke! Waited 45 mins for my food! When it finally came out the order was wrong. Its all presentation food, so if your interested in taking pictures of your food and adding to social media or showing your friends/family this is your place.

Dog friendly was much appreciated! I hope they have patio seating soon too. The service was wonderful and the food was just ok. Madres chilaquiles were too spicy for me to finish 3/5. Coffee flight was very milky wish it had more espresso flavor. I would come back to try other menu items. Also tried calling ahead of time several times to check if they were dog friendly and nobody answered. Thankfully they were.

I ordered French toast but this had nothing to do with it, it was two thick breads with Nutella in the middle and on top and fried bananas on the sides, horrible, I really dont recommend this

Fun new Brunch Spot! The service was exemplary, the food had great authentic flavor( mole chilaquiles) and the staff was extremely welcoming. My daughter received the best birthday girl experience by everyone, they show pride in their restaurant, from the chefs, servers, and management. Im looking forward to many occasions where this will turn to our go to place. Kid-friendliness: They were very welcoming of kids.
