We have tried to eat at Smokehouse on Main a number of times and the wait was always too long for us. We finally made reservations, and our whole family finally had the chance to experience the reason why its always so busy, and we were not disappointed. Not only was the food amazing, our server, Chris, was hands down the most amazing, kind, professional and one of the best waiters we have ever had, he truly cares about customer service and thats a hard find these days. We will certainly be returning and we will most definitely ask for Chriss section. Kid-friendliness: Very kid friendly, reasonable kids menu.

They tried but not good enough. Mac and cheese was dry and overcooked and bland. Sorry but that is not thr best ever sorry but my daughters is. The tornado tater tots like a bowl full of chopped vomit. The peach cobbler. WTH is that garbage? That was not good at all not even close. Mushy dry peaches. The crust was awful. It wasnt even sweet. The ice cream tasted like frozen water. Im sorry but I DO NOT RECOMMEND THUS YUCK. The host brought us in then left us to go talk with other people didnt tell us where to sit so we had to figure it out. No high chairs and no where for a person with a wheelchair to fit in. The service was just ok. They didnt bring my strawberry lemonade til the end. Im sorry it was not worth waiting for. I could have spent less at the Lazy Dog and gotten better for 10 times more. Save your money. My husband and son make a better brisket.

We are on vacation and our hotel was very close to the restaurant so decided to try. We were kind of road weary so got carry out. We had ribs and pulled pork, cole slaw, beans, small Mac n cheese and 1 corn on the cob. The food was good except the Cole slaw was very bland. We liked the food but it was very expensive

Our experience was mixed. Our very first greeting was from a rude woman hostess (?) who may have been an owner or manager. Luckily our male waiter was super friendly, but they must have been understaffed, because the staff seemed overrun. We waited a long time for everything, and they didn t refill our teas and waters. Also the bbq sauces had very sticky bottles that hadn t been cleaned in between customers. The food was delicious though! May have been better to order carryout. (This was on Memorial Day so it could have been they were tired.)

I went to this place in early April. This restaurant was a few steps from my hotel so my family and I decided to go here also attracted by the fact that there was live music. The place is very welcoming and the staff is friendly, its a shame that they are a little too distracted. In fact, the wait was very long because they had actually forgotten about us and after bringing us dishes we had to call the waiter who had forgotten to bring us cutlery. Other than that, the evening was very nice with great food (I recommend the ribs) and nice music. The prices, considering that the dishes are always accompanied by at least a couple of side dishes, appear to be all in all at a good price. If you pass by, stop for dinner (or lunch), its really worth it! Parking: there is a public car park within walking distance

Overall food was good. Service not so good. We where on vacation and we got home, we checked our credit card statement the charge for this restaurant was way to high then what we wrote on receipt even after tip. We have tried calling finally got thru told us theyd have we the owner call us. Nothing after 5 days. Tried calling everyday and no answer. I mean $20 over receipt is a lot. I keep all receipts from vacations and we dont know why it happened. If someone would call us back it could explain it or just fix it. Check your bank statements people things happen.

Really good food, great beer and drinks. But the price has gone through the roof. It used to be expensive but also justifiable, now I cant justify spending what it cost for 2 people to each have a sandwich and a few beers. Nevermind getting a 2 meat plate. Located near the end of Main with a parking lot nearby. Walked up Friday night and put my name on the list for two and was seated inside in about 20 mins. Great service with plenty of staff available at all times. Ordered Santa Maria tri-tip with fried okra. The meat was very tender and very smoky (makes sense). The food is presented on long platter-like plates, reasonable proportions and very well prepared. The wait time was very short and we were attended to with drink refills and other needs often throughout the meal. Live music began just as we left at around 9:30 pm. Indoor and outdoor seating. Parking: A lot nearby had about 40 parking spots, mostly full Fri night

Not a bad place if you are looking for a beer and sports on tv on Main in a bbq style setting. HOWEVER, if you actually want good BBQ, a LOT more of it for a lot less $$$ then go to Bear Pit BBQ in Mission Hills (not amazing but so much better by comparison). Unfortunately, service is super poor with a smile in a classic LA way (see below), sides are ironically much better than the proteins which also cost more per ounce than Larsens steakhouse. Initially sat outside but it was getting too cold for my wife and several tables freed up inside (visible and confirmed by server). I specifically told the server that my wife was pretty cold and asked for a warm inside table. After making us wait for another 20-25 minutes she literally sat us at a table right in front of the door so that we would get blasted with frigid air every time the door opened (frequently). Took forever after we ordered a beer for us to be told that the beer we asked for was unavailable and then even more time for server to return so we could order another one. This was either intentional or careless. Like too many places in L.A. fake server and staff were superficially quite pleasant but not actually helpful, attentive or responsive... (in addition to the table, asked for an extra knife then nothing for 5-10 minutes, had to ask twice so we could actually eat and then got two knives dumped on us, despite taking so long to serve, staff constantly hovered over tables to clear plates before they were finished I supposed to turn tables, etc...). Not great either way and the place was a little busy but not packed. Expect to pay $50-90 per person for a complete meal before alcohol. For that money, go to Salt Creek or Larsens and actually eat well. $20 for 6 wing drumlets (which were pretty good actually) and $40 for three strips of dry brisket (maybe 8 oz) and $40 for half a smoked bbq chicken (LOL). The spinach side was quite good as was the corn (warning you have to pay $2 extra for corn lol). First time I have been to a relatively well rated BBQ place where the BBQ was the worst thing on the plate. The BBQ sauces in glass whiskey flask style containers is a cute touch but the servers apparently dont clean the caps or mouth as they were all gross. At the end of the day, everyone knows SCV is not a BBQ town and Main is much more about alcohol and our experience at Smokehouse merely confirms this.

Met a group of friends ffor dinner this past Saturday. Had some drinks and appetizers at the bar then moved to a table. Im not sure if they were short staffed but the lady behind the bar could not keep up. The food was marginally okay and way over priced for what we got. 10 dollar beers. That is ridiculous. There is also weird additions to the prices where the tri tip is not $32 but $32.60 or something weird. Would have also been nice to know in the beginning if we brought cash the bill was less. A lot of restaurants are doing things like this and I find it shady. Either way, I didnt feel I got value for the money we spent and with the service also not being great I wont be back.

Went here on Saturday ordered the three meat combo tri-tip, brisket, and baby back ribs at almost $55 not worth it. The meat portions were fine in size the sides are a joke they came in a tiny dish that you would get a side of sauce in to dip your fries, Smallest sides I have ever seen definitely not worth the money. We got a large side of tater tots You were lucky to get 11 or 12 tater tots in the large order for almost $8 also The macaroni and cheese is bland no flavor taste it kind of like fish The baked beans were good what little bit you got, The tri-tip and brisket were very tender but lacked any seasoning flavor All we could taste is liquid smoke. The baby back ribs were dryer than beef jerky, the best thing there was their cornbread bake in cast iron dish cook to order, The service was fine this places to pricey for the quality of food.

The food is delicious, this is a popular spot in a small area. They have 2 sides to the establishment one is a bit quieter as the other is for those who want to be close to the live band. A small covered patio area as well. Parking can be a little frustrating to get but a half a block of distance at most. They can be understaffed sometimes depending on the night so be patient. The food has never disappointed and why I do not mind waiting. If you want the jalapeño cornbread is so good but order it along with your drinks as it s approx 20 mins but it s hot and fresh. My usual are the collared greens and bbq beans their side selection goes beyond that though. For dessert I enjoy the bread pudding. Weekends are busy , Saturday around noon is pretty calm and well you get the rest.

One of my friends ordered the meat plate with pork ribs, it came with beef ribs, the waitress said it wasnt served with baby backs but they had rib tips also the vegetables were cooked with oil and not butter. He got the rib tips but they were over cooked. Me and another friend got the mess (pulled pork and with Mac and cheese on top) it was cold, I ordered tater tots and maybe got 12. My father said is salmon was over spiced. The service was good, waitress was nice and friendly she did what she could. If baby backs arent with a dish though it shouldnt just say ribs, it should say no baby backs or if theyre willing to charge more for baby backs it should be listed. For (if I remember) the dish being over $50 it should have come with baby backs. Other friends said when they went it was good, maybe since it was a holiday they didnt have their regular chef or they were breaking in a new one, even so not sure if well be returning. Parking: We found parking right away but on a busy night it may be difficult.

I had the big mess sandwich - pulled pork, bacon and Mac n cheese with fries (5 stars). Wife had the Tri tip sandwich with tots (4 stars). The sandwich was tasty and had plenty of meat, but there was literally like 10 tots, unseasoned and tasted no better than Ore Ide frozen tots. Meat portions are plentiful. Side portions were meager. Way too pricey for what you get. The generous pour on the wine was appreciated. Karaoke was fun too. Waiters need to listen better. They brought us the wrong food. Cobbler had no flavor.

Although the food is delicious, check your bill! I was overcharged about 10% per item more than the prices listed on the menu. Management took care of it, but how much are they making from overcharging? I rarely check my bill. Idk what made me do it this time, but I m so glad I did.

Cute place. The food is great and they support live music. Some of the staff seem stressed at times but thats usually because theyre busy. I understand. Highly recommended if you dont expect to be their sole priority. Once you get their attention, theyre great! The food tastes like theres an actual chef in the kitchen. I had the salmon dinner here once, which isnt an option to recommend in the list here on google, and it was prepared like Gordon Ramsay would praise. I like how the salmon rests on a bed of perfectly seasoned spinach. Next time Ill take a picture. I dont live in the area so I have only been there doing sound for my friends band. Kid-friendliness: While Im normally only there for live music at night, there are usually families with kids that seem to be enjoying themselves... Until I show up lol Ive only been here a few times to help bands with their sound and its usually around kids bedtimes. Alot of places that have live music and alcohol arent typically a place youd want to take your kids but this place seems to be more in favor of families and entertainment for all ages. Ultimately, they have great food until the kitchen closes.

The food was decent dont get me wrong. But the price was ridiculous, the food didnt warrant the cost, and on top of the already ridiculous price, they added 3% to pay with a card for 6 people our bill was over $400. Just for reason of cost, I will not recommend this place

With so many options in downtown Newhall, we wont be going back to Smokehouse. It was fine. Food: the smoked meat was dry and the ribs were poorly cut; the tots were as good as air-fried costco tots; the fries were great but $8 for kids PBJ left us gasping. Service: polite and quick to clear; the hostess didnt realize she has a resting grumpy attitude; food came out of order and the server asked for our orders immediately when we sat-- front of house needs training if youre selling $22 burger (honestly, the folks at in and out could teach them a thing or two) Atmosphere: seats were peeling and everything seemed grubby. Again, fine for a dive bar but after a $250 tab that was heavy in potatoes we expected a bit more. Instead: bbq: Rattlers; burgers: Hook or The Refinery; booze: Magins

Go ! Go ! Go! Im so upset that I cant remember the womans name that made the night so perfect. I believe she is either owner or manager. She was absolutely amazing!!! I had a big party of 18 and she had everything set up for us when we arrived. She attended to us quickly and was so sweet so helpful so informative so patient! The list goes on she was all around amazing. Now the food ? Lets go into it. 18people ordered 18people satisfied! Not only was the food so freaking yummy! But it literally came out within less than 15mins I swear! And we were all able to eat at the same time. Idk how they did it but they did it ! And did a damn good job at it. Their greens were so flavorful. I didnt even need hot sauce. I always use hot sauce ! Lol great place great food just go the price is worth it

Much more expensive than previous visits and the overall experience has gotten worse. Tri tip was dry and disappointing, and took a lot of time to come out. The service left a lot to be desired, even though it was not very busy. I think this was the last time we gave Smokehouse a chance.

We have eaten here many times over the years, but this was our first time back in several months. Service was horrible, asked for silverware and napkins when the food came, finally got A fork after asking a second time, never got napkins. My brisket was cold, I dont mean it had cooled off while waiting for our silverware, I mean it was cold. I dont think they even tried to heat it up, cold brisket is dry and tough. I also ordered hot links, they arrived at least warm-ish, but were dry and tough also, most likely re-heated from the day before. My wife ordered a salad she has ordered many times in the past and really likes, it was bland and didnt have any dressing, we had to ask and wait for that as well. Over all a very disappointing experience. We will give it another try, but not anytime soon.

Was on vacation and this restaurant came highly recommended by my hotel, but my burger almost slide off my plate because of all the juices on the plate. The bun was so soggy, I had to eat just the meat and no buns. Then to top it off had to wait over 15 min for the waitress to bring my card back to me, I had to remind her when she came back to the table to see how we were.. she then thought she lost it... the live band was really good.

What a gem! We wanted to celebrate the last night of our trip and couldnt have find something better. The host is one of the kindest persons Ive met in a long time. We got to try Collard Green before we ordered it (awesome!) and every BBQ sauce has been explained with recommendations what the favorite ones are. Meat was great but the sides were even better. California Barbecue Sauce was the icing on the cake. We also had great conversations about our home and felt like weve been guests for many years. Will definitely come back once were in the area. Greetings from Germany and thank you for everything!

Smokehouse is an old bar in Newhall with a strong local following. Friday nights they have live music which is nice. The food here is really good. We ordered the 3 meat platter with baby back ribs, tri tip, and half a chicken which cost about $50. It was a very fair price for the quality ,taste, and portions. The quality of the smoked meats and the taste were excellent. Large portions and it was enough for several people. The reason for 4 stars is for their service. The hostess was very sweet and friendly. In fact, just about everyone was nice and friendly. The hostess seated the 2 of us at a table with 4 chairs. About 5 minutes later she politely returned and asked us if we minded if some strangers could sit at our table with us. I politely said no and my wife and I looked at each other kind of in awe. Did she really just ask us that? It s not like we re at a bar on the beach somewhere. The hostess was super nice and very polite, but it was just strange. The problem is the wait and the unawareness of the staff. It took us 35 minutes just to get a glass of wine. It took another 20 minutes after that for the waiter to return to take our order. Then, about 30 minutes later, someone from the kitchen drops off our food at our table with no utensils, no napkins and no plates to eat it. We sat there waiting for another 15 minutes while the food is getting cold, trying to find anyone to give us utensils, napkins and plates. Even trying to find someone to get the check, and then to pay the check was difficult. They are pretty unorganized for such an old establishment. No one asked us if we wanted another drink until we were done eating.

Went on a Friday. There was live music by a competent musician. We waited for 25 mins before a server noticed us, so that was disappointing (they claimed something happened in the kitchen). Then, the power went out about 5 times. Just an odd experience all around. The food has always been great, and this time didnt disappoint. I ordered the smokehouse patty melt. Be I love Texas toast but a patty melt should be on grilled rye. TX toast just didnt work on a patty melt. The fries are amazing.

We saw this place walking down Main Street. Got a recommendation of where we should eat from two gentlemen. They enthusiastically recommended Smokehouse. Especially the brisket. Sold! Brisket was great and so were the collard greens and mac & cheese. Our server was Daphne who was very personable and willing to give recommendations. The atmosphere and ambiance very nice. The background music was bluesy, but not too loud so we could hear each other in conversation. In all a great time and great food. We ll be back.

I would have given this 3 stars based on food. 2 stars based on service. Giving them 1 star for food + poor customer service + having my integrity questioned. We got sat at 7pm and didnt leave until almost 9pm. Ordered a drink, appetizer, and two entrees. No dessert. Left immediately after paying via QR code* Placed our food order around 7:25. A few minutes later, we were informed that the kitchen was backed up so things would be on a delay. We braced ourselves. We didnt expect it to be AN HOUR for our entrees. Both entrees came out cold. My husband ordered the Mac and cheese without meat, and it arrived with bacon. When asked how the food was, we said fine. Normally would have complained/sent it back... but 1) we felt bad (apparently they were down 3 cooks) and 2) felt it would be pointless. They clearly wouldnt have time to remake it as they were still behind on orders. *When the check came, we paid via QR code, saw the confirmation that it was paid and left as quickly as possible. We got 5 feet out the door, and had someone (not our server) chase after us asking did you pay?! After saying yes, he scampered back inside. That was the last straw. Our server was great. He kept us informed and apologized repeatedly for the delay. But there was no discount for the hour wait. Never had a manager come by to talk to us. And was extremely insulted when questioned if we paid. Needless to say. We will not be back.

Where to begin....the wife and I entered the restaurant at ~7pm on a summer Friday. Asked for a table and was told that I could only have a bar seat. Which is OK I guess, the restaurant was busy but not packed. Bartender was friendly and took our water and beer order. We ordered an appetizer (skillet cornbread) and waited for it to come. So far, everything was OK. Then after waiting 20 mins we still havent gotten the app so we also put in dinner orders to get ahead and hopefully speed things up. 10 mins or so after ordering dinner, the friendly bartender tells us the kitchen is getting backed up. We have been at the restaurant over 30 mins by now. Finally the appetizer comes and its OK. nothing special, small but not bad. the real issues start to pile on now. The food is continuously delayed. The bartender is apologetic and keeps us posted but we are hungry and losing interest. Around 8:30pm (~90 mins after being seated). The entrees arrive...COLD. Other patrons at the bar are still waiting on their food orders and some regulars next to us are starting to get frustrated too. At no point did a shift manager, GM or owner come to say anything or apologize for the issues. After eating our cold food in relative silence, we request the check. Thankfully the restaurant has the QR code payment option, which sounds good at this point since were more than ready to leave. We pay via the QR code, tip well because the bartender was nice and the issues are not his fault and we get a payment confirmation screen. Then we leave. As we exit the front door and walk into the street, another person (whom weve never seen before) runs out and accuses us of not paying. Im in utter disbelief as we used their QR code system and got the confirmation. I politely ask, wait did you not get it, we definitely paid and got a confirmation. The gentlemen jets back inside and we leave even more upset than at any other point in the evening. I can understand having kitchen issues, but it really should be on the shift manger, GM or owner to alert all patrons in a timely manner. Not once did anyone with authority even apologize. That, plus the subpar COLD food and the accusation of not paying were enough to give this establishment 1 star. Really very disappointing. We will obviously not be back and will let others know of our experience. This was all on a Friday as well, a night where restaurants typically need to bring their A-game as many patrons are new and things can be busy.

Terrible service rude staff. Apparently they dont like single people to dine there because they never came to take my order after 20 minutes of me waiting. I left and then came back to order a to go item, i was given an attitude. I asked for the manager and was told there wasnt one. An older landy came out and said she would take me order so i placed it with her and waited 35 minutes and then was told they didnt know how much longer it was going to be. Again, i got the same attitude from the same waitress. I only ordered tatar tots. Never got them. I ended up walking away for the second time. They seem to think its okay to play games with people. I wont ever go back there i can guarantee that
