Went for 2 drinks, total was $32 + tax so $35 and some change, and I paid with card and tipped in cash. Just looked at my credit card statement and they charged me more than the $35 bill. Now having to call and get this taken care of. Huge issue to charge someone more than their bill. Super sketchy. Wont be going back if thats how they handle money.

The food has taken a big dive under the new management. I ordered pesto pasta with chicken. The chicken was so salty, it was unpalatable. The pesto consisted of what appeared to be approximately 2 cans of canned peas poured over the pasta, and no pesto whatsoever.

We went on a busy holiday weekend on a Saturday. We had a group of 6 with a baby. They had a high chair and we were seated promptly. The wait staff was friendly and kept our drinks filled. The old fashioned I got was nothing special but wasn t bad by any means. The steak and fries I got was pretty good. Good portion, cooked to the temp I wanted and very tender. Everyone seamed to enjoy their food. The restaurant was busy and a little loud but I didn t mind since we tend to be a little rambunctious ourselves. Good place for family dinner.

Went in today for brunch after making a reservation online, first impression the place looked great and clean however I waited for 5-10 minutes and was unsure if I should seat myself or a waiter would come by. So I decided to just seat myself, the guy working At the bar offered me a menu and all that was nice and quick. He was friendly, took our orders and so forth, the place started getting busy and it was just him so I understand he took a while to get back to us for more drinks and so forth. I wish we would of been offered more waters and hoped the drinks would arrive faster other than that everything was superb! And loved the ambiance the music was a plus definitley my up of tea! Drinks were amazing too !

This WAS my favorite place on main st. The Refinery Fries which were the best thing ever, have changed. Though the thing that stuck out the most was the tension. It was obvious there is an issue between the main chef and staff. I could hear him talking very rudely to the staff. Update, it seems things have changed. The Refinery Fries are back to being the best and there wasnt tension. I didnt see the old chef and the service was good.

I visited Newhall Refinery on Saturday around 5 pm, and it was the perfect time! The menu was amazing, and I highly recommend the Philly steak sandwich. The bread was special, the meat tender and flavorful, and the cheese excellent. It was super good. Parking is limited to street parking, so arrive early for a good spot. The atmosphere is family-friendly and welcoming, with unique beer taps along the ceiling adding a cool vibe. The service was outstanding, with friendly and attentive staff. The restroom was clean. The wait time for our food to arrive was good, it took around 10-15 minutes. You could tell the food quality was excellent, with dishes made from good ingredients. The restaurant has a unique charm and serves all-American classic bar-type food. The portions were just right, and the prices were great. Overall, I had a fantastic experience and cant wait to go back. - Luis Vegetarian options: You can order salads Dietary restrictions: You can order low carb, high protein, or salads. There are options Parking: Parking is on the street. You have to find a spot. It took me about 5 mins to find a spot. Kid-friendliness: Great spot for the kids to eat too. Came in on a Friday afternoon to a less than busy atmosphere. We were seated promptly, and then waited 15 minutes without a waiter to greet or even bring water. I returned to the hostess to see if it was a order at the bar type. She promptly talked to the back. Shortly after a waitress came out to serve the table next to us and returned to the back when finished. Another 5 minutes pass without seeing anyone. No thanks.

After about 15min we asked if it was an order at the bar situation and the hostess said no they have waitresses and went to check. Waitress came out saw us but turned around. Came out again and check on the table next to us. We tried flagging her down. It was really bizarre. So we left. Won t be coming back. Food was good from when we went prior times.

I have fond memories of Newhall Refinery, but the food has taken a step back in terms of quality, to where I question if its even worth going now. Gone is the chef pushing out new ideas during the week for people to try randomly, everything has settled down into shadows of their former self. The burgers are fine, but not worth the +$20 they demand; the appetizers are over salted, which was disappointing because they seem like they were still good otherwise. The deal breaker for me was the once amazing bread pudding, originally baked to perfection with crispy edges, vanilla bean sauce, and blueberries, is now a total disaster. It looks like someone chopped up some rye bread, dumped some sauce on it, and threw it in the microwave. The rye bread up against the strawberries is completely uninspiring, and it sealed the deal that this place is no longer what it was. If the original chef and owners are still a part of this place, burnout appears to be a serious factor, or the new owners are just cash farming the place and reaping the benefits of the location and history. I hope this place gets better, but I have no interest in revisiting it again.

Ive been in Newhall now two weeks in a row and this is my first time here. There are no TVs which Im not a fan of. But whatever. The food is good but this place is way overpriced. $12 beers, $25 burgers. For these prices Id expect the dressings and ketchup to me scratch made along with fresh cut fries. The menu is small and unimaginative so for a place that brags about being SCVs original gastropub, Im not impressed. Speaking of scratch, thats what Im doing with this place off my list.

Newhall Refinery was a great weekday lunch stop! There were a couple other customers, but no wait, and quick attentive service. We started by sharing the Peach & Burrata salad, but I was so hungry I forgot to snag a picture. They were out of peaches, so substituted strawberries, and it was a decent salad. My wife ordered the Pork & Apple entree, which was an exquisite bone-in pork chop with a mouthwatering apple cider glaze. I had the Fried Chicken Sando. This isn t your average chicken sandwich. Each bite of chicken was had the crispy fried flavor you expect, and tender chicken through. 10/10 would recommend both dishes.

Service was very good. The menu had a limited selection, revolving around hamburgers. Members of our group each tried something different. One person had fish and chips - which looked pretty good. Another had the fried chicken sandwich...and made some comments about the excess breading. One person had the hamburger. He said it was OK...but the bun was do flimsy, it didnt really hold together. We shared the beers appetizer. It was tasty and creative , but very short on beets. I had the charcuterie Board. Not bad at all. But the brie should have been heated to make it soft. The grilled bread was excellent. We also tried the beignets. I have never seen such a dark version. But they were light. Hardly any powdered sugar. But they supplemented the pastries with chocolate pudding and coffee ice cream. Overall, a very nice evening. Though the place was not very full, especially for a Sunday evening.

If the restaurant was packed (it was about half full) and we ordered a lot of food (we didnt) and other tables with smaller parties were getting quick service (they werent) then Id call it a fluke. But, wasnt the case. Also, when I order fish and chips for $19 I expect more than just two meh-sized pieces of fish.

Hip, culinary hangout in the cool part of town. At first glance, the beer keg handles dangling decoratively from the ceiling and the rough hewn wood throughout might suggest this is simply yet another craft micro brewery; NOT SO. The menu is smart and creative. The chef is a true professional. The dishes appear to be simple, but theyre packed with tasty flavors. The cocktails are planfully designed to suit a wide variety of tastes, sweet and refreshing (popular strawberry vodka drink) to well-balanced and sophisticated (old fashioned). The table staff are knowledgeable and friendly, if not a little rushed. Be sure to order a salad or appetizer as the entries are sized health-consciously. Im looking forward to our next opportunity to visit. Parking: Public parking available Wheelchair accessibility: Yes

Love this local spot! Great food, great drinks, and appreciate the nod to our community history. Our server, Matthew, went above and beyond assisting our table. Stop by!

Let me start by saying that the food and drinks were great! We ordered the brussel sprouts, refiners fries, and charcuterie board and none of them disappointed. They were great portion sizes and had great flavor. The downside is that they came out before we even got our drinks. The bar is a little slow. Which, isnt bad until the hostess tells you that theyre enforcing a 90 minute table limit on the sit down tables. High-tops and the bar are unlimited. While the server was incredibly nice and knowledgeable, there was maybe a 30 minute period where we didnt see him and needed a refill on our drinks. Telling us there is a time limit while you seat us and were only 1 of 3 parties seated at 4pm seemed like overkill. We ended up staying the full 90 minutes because it took a while to get refills and the tables around us were still empty. I guess I jus didnt care for that vibe.

I always enjoy Newhall refinery!! The food is great, portion sizes are reasonable and the wait staff is always friendly and fun! The hot chicken sandwich is my go to and my wife usually gets a burger with lettuce wrap or salad. My in laws love the steak. I wish the menu was a bit bigger as the chicken and vegetarian options could be a bit more expansive. Some of the rarer whiskeys (Weller) are pricey compared to other local establishments that carry them. Overall, I highly recommend newhall refinery for a fun time with delicious food!!

I thought the smash burger was abnormally good, and I enjoyed the fact that they had Casamigos... all for fair prices.

Craft burger ($18) was tasty, but greasy. Fries were fine. Hot chicken sandwich ($17) had a lot of coating, but not a lot of chicken. Salad was good. The food doesn t feel terribly adventurous. For a place in Newhall that charges these prices, it might be nice to have a seasonal menu or at least change things up now and then. Service was kind and friendly.

Cozy restaurant with indoor and outdoor seating. Make sure you try their Refiners Fries - fries with beef brisket and mornay! We also enjoyed the homemade spicy ketchup that came with our burgers and the Cucumber Jalapeno Cilantro Margarita was refreshing and delicious. Thanks for the delicious food and great service!

I had dinned there many times pre-Covid. I heard it changed ownership. I just went back last week with a group of coworkers and I was pretty disappointed. The Menu was basically the same as before but the meal I had was not very good. First the Cesar Salad was made with Kale which was not chopped and super huge leaves, as well as very bitter. This is not the normal lettuce selection for a Cesar. The burger I got was ok, a little dry. Everyone else said their food was ok, but no one loved it. I may go back and try it again in the future but there are other choices in the area that seem much better. Not the worst experience but not what I was hoping for.

My husband and I were passing through Santa Clarita and we were looking for a spot to grab some lunch. We decided to stop here... So glad we did!! Everything from the customer service to the ambience of the restaurant was excellent. The Cucumber Jalapeño and Cilantro margaritas were delicious and made perfectly. My husband had the fish tacos, which were delicious, and I had the Smash Burger (first time trying a smash burger lol) and I was very pleased. Btw, they serve homemade ketchup with their fries . We will definitely be returning.
