Shoop's Delicatessen

I’ve been going to Shoop’s since 2002. We stopped in for breakfast after almost 10 years away from living in LA. The only thing that has changed is that they now have outdoor dining and an area where they sell beer and wine. Everything all the way down to their body wrap (which I love and always get) is still to this day the best! Their little market and deli carry so many things you’ll not find anywhere else. If you’ve not been before you have to! The owners and staff are always so friendly.

If you're looking for very chewy and fluffy pancakes with a wide selection of flavors, Shoop's is for you. Personally, I thought the pancakes were a little too tough to be the best I've had (think the kind of pancakes you make a home where only half the pancake has toppings), but the selection, flavor, and staff were enough for an enjoyable experience

You just can’t go wrong here. We had the Gravlax (cured in-house) sandwich, added a couple poached eggs and a side of avocado and thoroughly enjoyed ourselves! Will be back! Also best selection of Haribo anywhere!

Shoop's is one of my favorite breakfast spots in LA. I've taken a ton of out of town guests there and everyone loves it. There's ample cheap parking right behind the restaurant and you're only 2 blocks from the ocean to go for a stroll, read in the park, or whatever else suits your fancy.

The menu is full of delicious options for the sweet and savory palettes - nothing has ever failed me. My all time favorite is the Bacon Cheddar Jalapeño Pancake though - the texture and flavor is exactly what I want for breakfast.

The service is speedy and the staff are attentive and friendly - I'm never wanting for coffee or water refills. You pay inside when you are done.

The inside is a high density / efficiency market vibe but cozy enough. Outside seating is in the former parking lot, so ambiance isn't the best, but you can bring your dog and enjoy the fresh air, which is always nice.

Overall I strongly recommend checking out Shoop's European Delicatessen.

Went here a few years back while visiting Santa Monica. It was such a pleasant experience. Food was fresh, so fresh. Many options. At the time I was not eating meat, they had options on their menu that suited my eating lifestyle at the time. Something for everyone. The owner was really friendly and kind. Great staff, sitting outside to eat in the fall was beautiful and the weather was just perfect. Recommend highly.

What a delicious place!! From the outside it seems a really ordinary restaurant but you quickly realize that the quality of the products is there. We had the tasty crepes and it was definitely in the top 3 best crepes ever. They make their homemade hot smoked salmon which is delicious! The staff is super nice and there is a nice shop of imported European products inside the restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant!

Excellent place with great food, European imported groceries. for example, they have milka chocolate, but thats actually made in Europe. Not the milkamilka thats made in North America. Big difference! Good deli. Great place to sit. The atmosphere is over casual non-fancy Vibe. Its mainly outside in their lot that used to be parking. Great place. Highly recommended.

We ate two sandwiches, some scrambled eggs and some pancakes. All very rich and abundant. Very good attention. Kid-friendliness: We went with a two and a half year old girl, they brought her a special glass for a drink and a chair for infants. He ate pancakes and enjoyed them very much. Wheelchair accessibility: You enter directly from the sidewalk to a patio where the tables are. There are no stairs.

The breakfast we ordered was mediocre at best, nothing special. Halfway while our group was having breakfast a staff member came up to us and asked us to move our car. The sign on our spot says reserved for shoops only the restaurants name is shoops. She said the spot is reserved for the owner. We had to get up and move our car. There was easily an additional 20 spots open on each side of the parking spot. Unbelievable

Shoops has been in the regular rotation for our family for the last 6 years. Breakfast is incredible. Lunch is fantastic. We love the breakfast wraps; the body wrap and Aarons wrap w/ bbq sauce on the side. For lunch its all about the Salmon Caesar Salad or wrap or Ambassador sandwich. The staff is incredibly kind and always friendly. They always greeted us with a smile, recognized us and made the extra effort to make sure we were attended too. We are leaving Santa Monica and our weekend meals at/ from Shoops will be life long memories! It was even the first place we brought our son for his first meal out at 3 weeks old! Thanks Matt and Shoops family for making our breakfasts and lunches special for so many years :)

For as long as I am alive, I will never again visit Los Angeles without stopping by Shoops for breakfast at least once. While they certainly have a welcoming staff and quick service, the real highlight is the food. Shoops has the best blueberry pancakes Ive ever had. Point blank period. Ive had some of their side dishes as well, and while they are also fantastic, nothing compares to the pancakes. I truly cannot recommend this place enough for anyone looking for breakfast in the Santa Monica area!

Come early for nice breakfast. One of my favorites on Main Street. My favorite is bacon-infused pancake with maple syrup. Todays was a little undercooked, as I usually preferred a more crisper crust. But still yummy. My wife had the Brian-wrap. It was savory and had a nice spicy bite. The service was good. The team keeps coming by with hot coffee.

This is an American breakfast restaurant. I stopped by before heading to the airport from my hotel. No-frills, standard taste It has a taste that makes you want to eat it every day. The staff are also very friendly and open early in the morning. I was very excited. I remember. I wanted to eat hash browns As a set for specially ordered items Please put it on. The number of customers increased immediately after opening, Dont wait until the table is full That was the situation. If you go early in the morning, be prepared to queue. It seems better to leave it there. However, the rotation is quite fast so you dont have to wait long. Probably not.

The staff were either upfront rude or passive-aggressive. The wait time was insanely unnecessary. I was served last whilst someone who had come way after us was served exactly the same dish I had ordered so much before me that by the time I was served, he had already left. The staff never brought me the items I ordered and then when I asked how our experience was they told me that this place wasnt for everyone ( which is true, I dont like being waited by rude and incompetent people). The food was good though.

This place is absolutely awesome. My wife and I stayed down the street and came here for breakfast everyday, and the food seemed better each time. The jalapeño bacon cheddar pancakes are out of this world. One of my favorite breakfasts I can remember, I got the same thing three times in a row. I ve never had savory pancakes before, and the combination works great. The ingredients tasted super fresh too. My wife got the pineapple pancakes and the bacon pancakes which were also both exquisite. The inside market is fun as well. If you are in Santa Monica and want a good breakfast this place is a must.

We love eating breakfast / brunch at Shoop s and eating outside on the patio . The scrambles are great. They are also known for their smoked salmon dishes. Vegetarian options: There is a vegetarian scramble (egg whites) that is pretty good. The pancakes would also probably suffice, they are good.

It was a really busy day so it was a little chaotic. Loved that the outside seating area was full of dogs so it was great for our kids while we waited for a table. The Shoops Dog was a 5/5, blueberry pancakes were really good too but the breakfast potatoes and avocado toast were fine but not great. Kid-friendliness: Super kid friendly

Terrific food. I had the savory smoked salmon pancake and it was spectacular. My girlfriend had the smoked salmon baguette and added capers. She couldnt have been happier. Its a great little spot in an awesome little neighborhood. It was the perfect breakfast.

wow. i mean just wow. i came here and my life changed. the homey atmosphere, kind waitress contributed to my amazing experience. i ordered the classic pancakes and a hot turkey and cheese in a sub. i took a bite of my sandwich and warm deliciousness flooded my mouth. then i had the pancake. GET THE FRIGGIN PANCAKE. it is SO good I can t even describe how much I enjoyed my meal. The bacon was cooked to perfection as well. Additionaly, the best part the chef gave me a huge plate of magnificant pickles. I ate them within 3 minutes. Thank you to Shoops for providing me with the best pancake bacon pickles and sandwich of my life. You truly changed my life. I love you. Thank you for everything. Breakfast was great. Shoop s has a great location, and an amazing helpful staff! There s a vast menu, indoor and outdoor seating with great vibe. Highly recommend you putting this on your list while in the Venice/Santa Monica area. They have a lunch menu also, but I was there for breakfast. I had the bacon and cheese omelette. Should ve went for the pancakes because I saw them come out for someone else and they looked great! Parking: Street parking spots. Kid-friendliness: Small and quaint seating inside, but there is a variety of seating options outside.

My friends and I visited this cafe on Monday April 10. We were there for the weekend from Canada. The food was excellent, the service was great, we thoroughly enjoyed it! The salmon pancake: tasted good but the salmon was really cold on a warm pancake- didn t like the contrast- not sure if intentional . The banana pancakes (noted on menu as plural) : tasted good but was $13 for a small one stack (see pic) felt overpriced but I m looking at pictures and all other sweet pancake orders were more than one so not sure if they just made a mistake on my order. Everything else was fine.

Giving the two stars for the potential. Maybe I m not accustomed to the snooty inexcusable and obnoxiously unsolicited comments from one of the brunette servers. But in my 15 years of hospitality experience, I have NEVER, made a snide remark in response to the people I m waiting on - who I m anticipating a tip and a good review from? Zero excuse for that ever. She needs to take a class or a midol. And that s being polite.

Maybe not perfect, but some of the best pancakes in L.A. The blueberry ones are never soggy and they have interesting muesli or pinapple options too. Their house smoked salmon is well liked though I dont eat it so cannot say. Salads are also decent. Their standard sandwhich rolls are doughy and not great so if you are going for a sandwhich I recommend you try a different bread. Only a couple of indoor tables and a bunch of outdoor tables in converted parking lot with tiny umbrellas so be prepared for short wait during their peak times. Staff is generally friendly and invested. Strictly breakfast and lunch place and a good option, especially if you are going to be in the area. Inside there is a deli and market with a selection of imported European goods, mostly German.

Been going to Shoop s for a long time now and it never disappoints! Everything from their lunch (definitely try the Shoop s Club) to the breakfast is fresh and delicious, the staff are also super friendly and accommodating. And it s one of the closest things you ll find to an East Coast style deli out in LA
