Jinky's - Santa Monica

Me and my family stopped at this location 3 times during our stay in Santa Monica, and although on the 3rd visit we had a different waiter that was dismissive/rude (with their tone and facial expressions), I will not let it fully impact my review of the location as a whole. The first 2 visits the host and wait staff we pleasant, even though the location was more packed at those times. To touch on the 3rd visit. A member of my family has a walker that folds up and we had no issue the first two visits either sliding it under one of the high tables between the seats or next to us at the end of the table, at the lower tables which had more space between them. On our third visit the host advised that we suddenly we could not do that and we could not sit by the window and had to sit in a specified area near the back wall since we had a walker. When asked why, when we had done it before, we were met with a distasteful facial expression and advised (in a rude/angry that we would ask tone) because that is how it's going to be. To not argue or make it an issue, we agreed to sit where we were told to sit and did not visit the location again during our trip. Instead, we opted to go to another cafe a couple of doors down.

Now that is out of the way, the food here was good. It always came out hot and fresh. Although we had stopped in for a cheese danish and bagel and got the wrong type of bagel and the cheese danish was overheated and became chewy (it was not horrible). I will say that if you are not used to your coffee being very dark, I would not get a cup of coffee here. It does have that cigar/sooty taste that you get from very dark roasted beans. The hot chocolate must be made with dark chocolate as it was not very sweet and more milky than chocolatey. The chai was similar to the hot chocolate in that the flavor of chai was light and mostly tasted like milk. If you're coming here and want a good thing to drink with your food, I would recommend their iced teas, and those had flavor compared to the rest of their beverage options. Overall, if you're looking for a quick bite to eat and not looking for a coffee or latte, this is a good place to go. The food is flavorful. The portions are a good size for the price

This place takes CASH ONLY! It was quite the inconvenience not knowing this ahead of time. Had to walk to an ATM. I had the bacon, eggs and potato breakfast plate which was decent. The bacon was burnt though. The BBQ wings that my friend got had almost no meat on them. Quite disappointing. Decent food at a high price. Come here if you’re just trying to get full on some breakfast, not if you’re looking to try something new or have a quality meal.

Ordered French Toast and Crepes. Both were served lukewarm. Appears that the food sat in the kitchen prior to being served, as both items were tough to chew, with the accompanying sauces seeping into food and dried.

If anyone is looking for a delicious breakfast, head to Cora’s Cafe. Been there for at least 15 years and is always an enjoyable experience with great staff!

It was our last day in LA and we couldn’t have decided on a great Breakfast/Brunch spot. Also it’s close enough to the pier where you can just walk down the road and enjoy the sites or better yet ride a bike.
- Back to the food.
Probably ordered way too much than we can handle, but everything off the menu sounded amazing and idk when’s the next time I will be in LA. The prices aren’t too bad at all either. Will definitely return here.

Establishment looks nice as it is new. Service is slow and messy, the staff tries to do their best but needs to be trained to offer a better service to the clients. Food is not good, it came out cold and tasteless after a long wait.

I would not have had an issue with it if it was addressed in a kinder manner and not dismissive/rude (tone wise and with a disdainful expression, which ultimately resulted in us going to another cafe a few doors down the remainder of our trip). The entrance that was being used at the time, as they do have an alternative entrance that is blocked (which has a ramp), has a step. If they have not opened the other door and you are in a wheelchair it may be difficult to enter.

Very tasty, varied breakfast! The staff is friendly but very overwhelmed and you have to wait a long time. If a large table is added, nothing works anymore. So only recommended if you have a lot of time.

Expensive tourist trap with poor coffee and even worse food. Every dish is about $20. Waiter remade the coffee for us but it was still tasteless. Their guacamole is just mushed peas. There s also a 3.95% to help with rising minimum wage lol. There s better places to go in Santa Monica. Parking: Parking in public parking garage not close.

Id highly recommend getting a hot chocolate its the thing I enjoyed the most. I dont know if its just me but I dont recommend getting the tuna Melt I felt a weird feeling in my stomach the second I ate it and luckily I didnt throw up but I kept gagging like something bad wanted to come up. However the next day I threw it all out... I however did like the scene and the place very peaceful I will be back but not for the tuna melt ever. Parking: Parking is two shops over first 90 minutes are free after that each hour is 2 dollars so parking is very cheap compared to other spots available.

M eh. Nothing special. Not terrible, but I definitely make better eggs Benedict and can do it for pennies on the dollar compared to $19. BUT, the 3.95% surcharge to help pay for higher minimum wage was shady and classless. Everyone, if you see this on your bill, just ask them to remove it. They have to if you ask. I paid $75 for breakfast for TWO PEOPLE and they want you to believe they can t afford to pay the help $20 an hour? I think not. I looked into this and discovered the money 100% does not go to paying worker salaries, it s just so the business can pass the cost directly on to you so their margin isn t affected.

1st time experience today I felt super disappointed, I took my mom and girlfriend for breakfast, we got in, sat down , we were checking the menu, 3 workers were there, while we were sitting checking the menu, one guy standing talking to a girl kinda blocking the menu, and the other looks like preparing something for another costumers, anyway we spend some time deciding what to get to eat and to drink, and finally when we were ready to order, I went to the front to place the order with the girl and it turns out that they didnt have any food at all, my point is, if u are a worker could you at least tell costumers in advance if there is food or not, it was so obvious that we were talking about getting food, I believe 5 or 6 ft away somebody can hear when ppl talk, it wasnt that crowded, but is so obvious that the workers were so into their conversation instead of taking care of costumers, good luck to the owner of this place, .

Parked the car in the parking garage next door. Googled breakfast and it s the first place to pop up with relatively good rating. It looked a bit sad, almost empty. I m a group of five and off we went straight in . The waiter looked at us up and down and said.. cash only , our credit card system is all down. Me, so naively still insisted on Apple Pay. Cash only replied the rude waiter moving away from us. He probably looked at my vinil transparent Chanel purse and didn t see my black visa inside which I later thought that, I should have replied that black Visas work even with the system down. About the food , I can not comment as we never tried. We ended up eating a delicious breakfast with real organic eggs at the restaurant on the corner with excellent service.

Update! ( June 2023) I love this cute breakfast lunch restaurant! My favorite dish is the Fiesta Bowl with chicken because of the cilantro lime rice and all the veggies! My husband ordered the Santa Fe Scramble and it hot the spot! He enjoyed it Parking is easy on the 2nd street Santa Monica City parking structure. The first 90 minutes are free The breakfast, chili, lunch menu is vast and there are many yummy options~ I love their Fiesta Bowl which has lime cilantro rice topped with diced grilled chicken, black beans, tomatoes, tomatoes and shredded lettuce and more! Its so good! My friend ordered the scrambled egg whites with zucchini and other green veggies with avocado for a healthy option. On this visit they no longer have the Iced Green Tea, although it was still on their menu. I hope they bring it back! There is a small protected outdoor patio seating area. Park inside the Santa Monica parking structure. The first 90 minutes are free! Noise level gets a bit loud. We arrived around 9am and we were seated immediately. By 10am it was getting crowded on this Sunday morning.

The waffle tower is spectacular. The flavor of vanilla ice cream is delicious. The portions are huge. We were 4 people and each of us ordered a dish and left half, we ended up ordering takeout, so they take it into account. You can order 1 or 2 dishes and share. The service is very friendly but at first I didnt understand why they couldnt give me a table. They made me wait 20 minutes, I left and when I returned they wanted to tell me the same thing. But in the end they passed me, I dont understand why if there werent many people.

THE breakfast place to go if you want to visit around the Santa Monica pier. I will let others mention the food but I was most impressed with the Chai Latte. Expertly crafted and delicious. A must have if you come to Jinkys!

Service and food were terrible. Didn t get my order right and also forgot one of the food items. Coffee tasted like a stale cigarette. Only one employee was friendly and everyone else had a bad attitude. I would never go to this restaurant again, as it had no redeeming qualities. It was also over priced for the quality and portions you get.

We had a very nice Saturday brunch here. We tried crepe wraps and desperado. Also, we had coffee latte and a smoothie. Everything was delicious. Be careful, their portions are huge. Each order can feed two people. We ended up taking the rest of the brunch in a box as we could not finish. Their employees are also very nice people!

I had the waffle tower which for $19 was really good. The ice cream was rich & thick n honestly tastes homemade. The bananas were fresh and sauces n whip cream really made this a nice extravagance. I ordered a side of bacon which was not those wimpy side pieces but instead a thick cut and huge slices. My orange juice was fresh but at $7.95 a small glass it was $2 more than the bacon. Everything in Santa Monica appears very expensive. This breakfast for one was $38 (thats bacon, cup of oj n a waffle cut into 4 pieces with ice cream). Can I keep justifying this expense- no; was it a tasty meal -yes.

I asked if we could change it back and some Karen looking dude (manager) said no because his employees were fighting because of the game. Jinkys is located in a super cute area in Santa Monica. Parking can be a bear but you will find a place. We just love their breakfast. They have a great breakfast menu. Their pancakes are fluffy and delicious. All of their omelets are really good. Anything you order will make you happy. It is all perfect. We especially love their coffee. It is the best and served hot. The service is great and the place is kept so clean. It is really adorable and you will love it. Have the best time at Jinkys.

Ordered flaky French toast $16 via DoorDash and the picture shows fruits on it. No fruits when I got it. So either they put the wrong picture or forgot. Also, there s no options to add fruits when I ordered it. And the estimated time is not accurate at all. It s way too long and food is cold. Could make it more accurate with DoorDash. Too expensive and not worth it.

Superb breakfast. The Jinky s Favorite Omelette was really tasty and the cup of fruit and avocado were fresh. The Lox and Onions scrambler was also a hit with my wife. Highly recommend coming here if you re looking for some good eats.

Come early on weekends to avoid waiting. Only around 5 tables outside, but lots more inside. We had french toast, which was really good, and the Chili supreme, which was good but not excellent. The orange juice was pricey for its size. The staff is very nice. They have a huge a bit too complicated menu, which could be overwhelming if you have decision-anxiety.

The menu did not list all of the ingredients in the discription leading me to order a meal containing ingredients Im allergic to. The staff was kind enough to remake my plate, but it came back covered in other ingredients not listed in the description. Had any of these extra ingredients been listed I would have ordered something else and maybe enjoyed my meal. The staff was great but the menus need to be updated to reflect what is being served. Overall it was a very disappointing meal, I left considering my money to be wasted.

Tourist/not local: We stumbled upon this gem when the place we wanted to go had a line/ wait time. Huevos Chili is my new fav breakfast item, had it with the Himalayan Chili, sweet and mild (not spicy/hot). Simply amazing and the service is excellent, anything you need someone is there.

This place definitely deserves the 5 stars. The food is exceptional and it doesnt take long for them to get it out to you. The serving rations are pretty big, so I wouldnt recommend getting 3 pancakes like we did. They were so good, but we just couldnt finish them. The pancakes were really fluffy and just great all around. The service was really good also. Everyone was friendly from the moment youre seated until you pay and leave. Dont have photos for proof of quality and deliciousness because we were famished.

Staying on the beach from out of town, came in to place a to go order, placed my order $80, Paid, proceeded to go sit at one of the tables to wait (note im pregnant) the waiter comes and says actually to go orders wait outside No, not in the outside like a patio outside not where there s chairs or a waiting area, just outside. Obviously there s a heat wave in California, there was a homeless guy causing a scene, felt unsafe so i go back inside wait inside as a paying customer would. The waiter was not happy at all I don t care sis, I m just leaving this here AND obviously never coming back to this cafe which missed the point of customer service from junky s cafe would be more proper with that treatment note I am Hispanic and only the workers where Hispanic as well go figure. Por eso nos tratan como tratamos.

I followed the signs to pick-up order here after placing an online order and when I get there an elderly lady redirected me to the left open table area and would not assist me until I took the 10 steps to the open table area; very dissappinted with the service. The employee seemed overwhelmed but still had an attitude. Simply move thepick up here sign to the left open table area and stop providing false pick up instructions, and stop humiliating customers when they do everything correctly.

Service was good. I would have given more stars but the price of food isnt justifiable. $4 for orange juice and its not freshly squeezed. Eggs and sausage were good, but 2 slices of French toast is not worth $18.

Food was okay, but not great either. I was very grateful that the waiters helped you understand the menu. The cappuccino for $5 was really mini and a disgrace for the price! Then its better to have a cheap coffee and lots of milk or just water. Conclusion: Prices are probably standard here, but the food wasnt such that I would come back. Had an omelette, maybe the other items are better.

Sincerely one of the worst breakfast I have ever eaten. Told them that the waffles weren t cooked enough and they gave me an attitude saying I ate most of my meal when I didn t. Wanted to charge full price without resolving the issue. Made me wait for a check while most of the wait staff gave dirty looks. Never coming back here again.

My family and I were visiting from NY and stopped in here for breakfast. The service was quick, and the workers were friendly. The food was exceptional. And so good. If we are ever in Santa Monica we will definitely stop by again.

It is one of those places where there are 10 waiters / buzzboys and everything is sticky, badly washed and even dirty. The prices are normal for Santa Monica; still a place that is just waiting for clueless senior tourists to be charged with dennys type bills but in Santa Monica terms and rates / in the open-air part of the restaurant itself, there are dozens of flies and residues of homeless people who probably spend the night there

This weekend was my first time eating at Jinky s and it was great. We actually ate there two days in a row as the first day was a success with both the adults and children in the group. The pancakes and waffles satiated the kids and the other options had us adult pleased. The hostess and serving staff were great. The first day we ate was a Saturday at 9am and we didn t have to wait for a table. The next day was Sunday at 8am and again we didn t have to wait. The place was fully but we were still well serviced and didn t have to wait for any request. Great place for breakfast, they also offer lunch items but I didn t try any of those foods so I have no opinion on that. Great place to eat.

While visiting Santa Monica we stumbled upon jinkys cafe and let me just say This place is so so so good. I need everyone to go there for breakfast immediately! The staff is so attentive and helpful that you feel at home. We had the hangover burger, the jinky s chicken sandwich, and the best pancakes ever!!! 10/10 would recommend.

Not the best. We came here for brunch. When you order pancakes, that s all you get. They don t come with toppings you have to order them piece wise. They messed up the order (we ordered a side of fruits, they gave us a side of potatoes), and they added an item on our bill that we didn t order. To their credit, they corrected this when we notified them.

Bad and way overpriced food with worst customer service ever. The waiter who served us was very impolite since we put our steps in. He took the wrong order for my son and we asked to correct it. When I asked how long it would take they gave me a very rude answer, like it was our fails if we received the wrong order.

Amazing new vegan options! This is the first restaurant Ive seen that had vegan Just Egg on the menu! They can change any scramble or omelette into vegan style, and they also have vegan cheese, veggie patty and Soyrizo! Breakfast is impossible if youre a vegan, so Im super thrilled to see what Jinkys has done to update their menu! I will definitely be back. Everything was super flavorful and the wait staff was fantastic!

The service was nice but the Boba was not good. The pearls were dry and hard and they blend their teas. Dont recommend for Boba but Id give their other items a try next time Im in the area. Lesson of the day: get Boba from a Boba shop.

I was recently in the area during the easter weekend. All the way from Denver, CO and it s a great place and the food taste great. I especially love how big the proportion are in this place because I eat a lot lol overall a great place to eat some breakfast or lunch.

Omg. I wish I had more time in Santa Monica because I need to keep coming back here to try things on their menu. It was a tough decision, but I went with the croissant sandwich and tater tots, my boyfriend went for their spiced grilled shrimp and Mexican pizza, and we were both BEYOND satisfied. Our server was so kind and attentive, and was ready to recommend all kinds of things on the menu to narrow it down for us. We had a great experience here, and their outdoor patio is great for people watching. Highly recommend stopping here if youre near the beach/promenade area!

Jinkys in Santa Monica had fast friendly service. Food was really good except for tator tots, they had too much seasoning. Prices a little high for breakfast. However, portions are big. My wife ordered orange juice and when I got the bill it was $7. Are you kidding me? Overall good experience.

It was great trip to visit sunny Santa Monica for a long weekend from freezing cold Brooklyn last month. It was made even better by discovering Jinky s. I was overjoyed to find so many vegan options seriously good vegan, too. All the awesome breakfast goodness that California is known for with incredibly warm and welcoming service greeted us every day. Personally, I was also happy that they checked our vaccine status. Thank you. It made me feel more comfortable with my indoor dining experience. My 12 year old little dude and I loved it so much that we went back 2x and wish we did 3x. I will go out of my way to come back here again. Cheers!

We selected healty avocado tost and it was soo delicious and also we wanted wheat pancake. We loved the food, coffee and their waitresses were so nice. I wish they are more careful about being clean. But anyway food was good we will visit there again.
