We’re Crazy About Ramen! JINYA is known for its slow-cooked approach to ramen, made from broths simmered for 20 hours in-house. From its customizable menu to sleek interiors, JINYA Ramen Bar presents a contemporary Japanese dining ideal for lively social gatherings for all ages.
Ramen was warm and the base was very greasy with a lot of garlic flavor. Thin noodles are very good. I had to stand up to request service. I ordered the leftovers to go. See pic of the fat. I warmed up the leftovers without all that fat and I added water with more protein and vegetables. The base was much better, closer to 4 stars.

Seriously gross and rotten food tonight. My kid even said that the silky vegan ramen smelled like eggs and it did.
Ordered the seaweed salad (clearly not made in-house), broccolini, corn tempura and silky vegan ramen.
Seaweed salad came on rotten lettuce which I picked out (see photo).
Broccolini was actually perfect.
Corn tempura was strangely flavorless so I had to use the hot sauce on the table which didn’t do anything except set my mouth on fire
My kid dropped the seaweed salad on the floor and the manager was kind and replaced it except the lettuce was rotten
Silky ramen came and looked beautiful but my kid refused to eat it bc it was too spicy, and my mouth was still burning from the corn tempura so I couldn’t tell if the ramen was too spicy or not esp bc it had this brown sauce on it too.
Our server was nowhere to be found for 30 mins so we were helped by the very sweet pregnant server who was working there and brought us a plain bowl of broth, but they still put the brown sauce on top and my kid wouldn’t eat it. I tried it and it was extremely salty so I get it, prob too much fish sauce or whatever.
When our server came back I told him how the lettuce was rotten and asked him to take it off the bill, but he refused, and I had to speak with the manager.
They did and I only tipped 10%. I just can’t anymore. Two stars for the nice female manager and the pregnant server.

Jinya was amazing and one of the best ramen shops I’ve ever had the pleasure of visiting! The menu is extensive, there are lots of traditional meat, vegetarian and vegan options, and the ramen bowls are huge! And everything is very well priced for the size and offerings. All 4 of us were very happy with our choices, and each of our dishes was full of flavor and complexity. Perhaps the best part was being able to read the owner’s story on the menu, which gave more depth to the love they put into the menu and service. We were at the Santa Monica location which had indoor dining and a huge outdoor/covered patio area with a large gas firepit. I highly recommend a visit to Jinya!

I ve been to a few other jinya locations and really enjoyed those so I wanted to visit this one since I was in the area. The food served here tastes drastically different than other Jinya ramen bars- much less flavorful and not fresh. I d say 3/5 at best. Maybe it was an off day in the kitchen but the food was very average and I was disappointed since I came in expecting the high quality meal I had previously had at a different location. My usual go to dishes that I d recommend are 1. Crispy rice with tuna 2. Spicy chicken ramen 3. Tonkotsu spicy This time I tried the takoyaki which was also good but not great.

Ive been to plenty of JINYA RAMEN BARS (13 locations). I travel often and its my go to spot. This is the worst location. We had to wait to be seated inside, which is honestly completely fine. Its a popular spot, I can understand that. I went to restroom while we waited. No toilet seat cover available. We were seated by the bus boy (Im assuming) who literally threw the menus down and left. I get it, you have to clean stuff. Once we sat down our table was dirty. Which is nasty as hell. There was sauce spilled all over the sauce tray and there was a used saucer bowl. When we asked for the tray to be cleaned, we were ignored several times. We ordered our drinks and they were wrong. My sake was wrong and my sister didnt get her lemons until the food was brought out. The food was delicious, 10/10 recommend. When it came to closing our waiter was switched. The man asked if we wanted to order anything else before the kitchen was closed. We said no, but asked if we could get two boxes, and waters to go. The man asked if he could close our out tab, I asked if I could pay with Apple Pay. He huffed quite literally like a dog and said I guess. I went with him and asked if I could scan for my points. He said to write it down on the receipt. I did. Then I said where do I pay? He looked at me said What do you think? Then walked away. A nice lady walked up and said I could pay with her. I paid and we left.

Had an amazing time with my friends. We went out and walked Murphys Ranch(Another destination Id recommend!) and ended up heading towards the pier for some seafood. We didnt really see much that called to us, so we came to Jinya. Im vegetarian, so I really try to stay away from meats, but I still consume dairy and eggs. They had only Vegan options but its very easy to change them into Vegan. We started with the Impossible Gyoza and it blew my mind. For plant based meat, it was hard to tell it wasnt real meat. They were so good. I got the Spicy Cream Ramen and it was AMAZING!!!! It was so perfectly done and packed with vegetables, it hit the spot perfectly. My egg was a little too runny, even after keeping it under the hot broth, but even that was tasty. The staff was also very sweet. Im sad I failed to get her name, but she had a kind smile and a great attitude. Id definitely come again. It was so worth it, and the food was fair priced.

Terrible Experience - Food Poisoning My boyfriend and I visited this ramen shop today, lured in by the positive reviews. However, our experience was anything but positive. Within three hours of dining here, we both fell severely ill. The food poisoning we experienced was excruciating, and as I write this review, we re still dealing with the aftermath. It s deeply concerning that a place with seemingly good reviews could serve food that leaves customers in such a terrible state. The management needs to prioritize the quality and safety of their food above all else. As a responsible member of society, I feel compelled to warn potential customers about the risks. To the manager or owner, if you re reading this: we demand a refund for the dreadful experience we endured. It s only fair considering the pain and suffering we ve had to endure as a result of dining at your establishment.

So this is the review of this place. 1. Decoration 7/10 it had a good decoration, but a couple of decorations needed a little bit of love. 2. Service 9/10 the service was very good and very polite 3. Ambiance 7/10 it had a good vibe, but not so many people during the day 4. Food 6.5/10 now this one was a bit hard because the crispy chicken was a bit raw ?? Could be dangerous and the spinach was cold (look at the picture of the two different colors in the chicken), but the ramen was good 5. Cleanest 6.5/10 OK this place needs a bit of clean up in certain areas. Yes, I do recommend only for ramen.

Overall average. Best ramen Ive had in LA thus far. theyre a bit skimpy on serving sizes, not putting in enough broth and only 2 little slices of pork belly that could use some help honestly. If Im paying $20 for ramen at least fill the bowl, put in more noodles, char Sui and more toppings. broth is good, noodles are decent. I really want to love this place but they need to level up. bigger portions would go a long way.

JINYA Ramen Bar in Santa Monica on Main St was a horrible experience. We got a table for two when the restaurant was not busy at all and only had maybe two other tables other than ours that needed to be waited on. The waitress took about 20 minutes to come get our drink orders when they sat us down and had an unpleasant tone with us for no reason. This was the first thing that already set us off when we literally just sat down. I had to constantly get their attention across the room and call her over after we had been waiting awhile as she never checked on us. We did not want to wait any longer so we ordered our drink and food orders together so that they would come out faster the next time she eventually came back. We sat inside and there was only one other table that was being waited on. Not only after waiting 20 minutes for our drinks, my friend and I had to wait another almost 30 minutes for our food, when there was only 2 other tables being served. I dont know if the waitress was having a bad day that day or what happened, but when they gave us our food order, she just sat it on the table without saying anything and just left the table. After now waiting an hour finally to eat, our food was cold and felt like it had been sitting in the kitchen table for awhile. This ruined the taste of the ramen and the whole afternoon lunch. The customer service was one of the worst experiences I have ever had for such a highly rated Ramen spot located in Santa Monica. Would not recommend this place to anybody and will never be coming back.

Not very smart service we are Chinese and others are India family how could we be a same group without communication?

Beyond Gyoza were a fun treats--filling was very flavorful and satisfying, dumpling wrapper could have been cooked longer. Portions were small/reasonably sized--I had the small Beyond Rice Bowl which was first underwhelming (raw kale, pickled cabbage, etc seemed like something I could make at home) but then I mixed all the toppings together and the sauce really pulled it together. We sat outside and they were running heat lamps (in July). Music was loud but fun/upbeat. Vegetarian options: Beyond meat substitution in typical meat dishes.

I ve been coming here since the first day it opened, actually I met the owner a year before it opened so I know how hard it s for her to build this business. Over the years while I was there, only few times the foods were not as good as it first opened but my husband and I still kept going there. Last week was a huge disappointment, the ramen soup was cold so I had to return it and when I asked why did they serve me a cold soup , the waitress not only did not apologize but saying I don t know as the chef set the temperature. Then I waited for at least another 15 min. for them to heat up the soup ( by that time my husband already finished his ramen) and another big disappointment - the soup was very salty this is the message to the owner: I think you should come and check your restaurant sometimes before your staff ruin your years hard work.

Right behind has public parking. The food tasted GREAT! The egg for the ramen is perfectly soft centered just like in Japan. Try the tuna and salmon cones - they are so yummy! The cauliflower appetizer is decadent and tastes so good. Bao bun had the perfect steamed bread texture and was delicious. Vegetarian options: They have many vegetarian and vegan options, which is very refreshing to see at a Japanese ramen restaurant. Parking: Parking is harder to find on the street, but behind the building is a public lot where you pay at a kiosk and put the receipt on your dashboard. Just dont chance it cuz the city parking comes through to enforce ~ its not free at all times. Look at the signs. They have EV chargers and that is a HUGE plus. Was able to charge while eating. Kid-friendliness: Its a welcoming environment for all people, including kids. Wheelchair accessibility: Accessible dining place.

Perfect ramen and atmosphere with fireplace outside. Ramen is served very fast, ideal for a quick bite and head to the beach. I wish they had a portable post net brought to the table. Writing down the tip and adding up is old and inefficient. Specially confusing for tourists.

Ambiance: This place is so cute, fire place outside was a cool feature. Inside, you can essentially see inside the kitchen. The tables are fairly close, but they work. Service: Didnt have to wait too long for a Saturday night, waited a bit after seating, but after that, it was smooth sailing. Food: Ive never had ramen before this point, so I wasnt sure what to expect. I ordered the mild chicken ramen, but I shouldve gone with the spicy version. It wasnt bad at all, but I couldve used the extra kick. Dumplings were really good, and I love that they have all the sauce on the table! Wasnt really a fan of the salad, though. Street parking is 2 hours, so plan accordingly.

I recently visited Jinya that had just reopened after over a year of closure due to a fire. While I was excited to finally try their food again, I was disappointed with my experience. The prices had gone up over 50%, and the portion size of the ramen I ordered was noticeably smaller than before. Although the taste of the ramen was still good, I was taken aback by the half-filled bowl and the fact that the black ramen was not black at all. When I asked the server if something was missing, they denied it and said everything was measured. However, I had eaten this dish many times before the closure and was certain that something was not quite right. Despite my disappointment, I will say that the restaurants ambiance has not changed. The staff were friendly. However, the smaller portions and higher prices were definitely a letdown. Overall, while I was glad to see this restaurant reopen after such a long closure, I was disappointed with the changes in portion size and prices. While the taste was still good, I cant help but feel that something was missing in my dish. As someone who used to frequent this restaurant once or twice a week before the closure, I have to say that I wont be becoming a regular customer again.

It was also visible on the faces of the other people. Worth a visit. I would highly recommend.

I had the Spicy Tonkotsu Ramen at the spiciest level, and I was satisfied because it was spicy and spicy even by Korean standards. I dont think I would recommend going higher than level 2 if its spicy. The staff service was very friendly from start to finish, so I felt really good!

One of the best place for having ramen in LA! Jinya chicken ramen is my favorite and they always cooked it perfectly. Recommended dishes

One of the better ramen places in Santa Monica. They are more authentic Japanese ramen than the typical Southern California health fusion style of ramen. Typically a line, so its worth getting there off peak hours. Heavy thick broth and fatty pork with thick crinkled noodles. Great comfort food, especially right after a cold autumn surf session.

I would give this place 5 stars, because the FOOD deserves 5 stars. This the yummiest Ramen Ive EVER had. They area always super packed even when you order online... You have to wait 10-15 minutes for your food when you order online, because they are always busy. Hurry and reopen...Slurp!!! #thebest

Love this place and sad to see it s temporarily closed. I stopped by and found out that there was a fire which is the responsible for the closure. Hopefully it will reopen soon.

My go to spot for quick delicious ramen. Try the vegetables and vegan options. As an omnivore these options and surprisingly full of flavor and I actually prefer the vegan ramen sans tofu.

I loved the Ramen here but I think they closed. The pandemic really hit them hard. People dont usually buy Ramen to-go

We ordered impossible bun, impossible gyoza and spicy chicken ramen along with white peach Sake and Fuji apple sake . The impossible buns and gyoza was delightfully flavourful, the service was fast. Even though we didn t have a reservation the wait time was less than 20 mins. They have a beautiful and spacious outdoor seating with proper heating solutions in place.

The original with thick noodles was good but the black with a little spice is better. I m partial to thin noodles and got the double order. A side of fried chicken is a must at this place. Good outdoor seating with plenty of heaters. Service was great.

Very tasty ramen, the best in Los Angeles, even if a little further away from the city center. You can sit outside well even in cold weather

Amazing. You could tell they put a lot of thought and time into the food. A good balance of savory, sweet, salty and umami. Delicious. I would recommend this place!!

They require proof of covid shot. No thanks, Id rather make my own ramen than take such a risk.

I placed a pickup order and I arrived on time. The host told me it would be another 10 minutes. I waited outside for an entire hour with no updates from the staff. No concern expressed for me or the sea of other customers waiting for their pick up orders with me. Horrible service.

Okay where to begin on this review. The staff were very polite and very very welcoming. You are required to show proof of vaccination for COVID19. Which makes sense to have to keep everyone safe but anyways back the review. The seating outside looks very nice specially at night gives it a whole different look on things. The menu it is digital makes it easy to view on your phone. The food was outstanding no lie they got it out within 15 min tops. The taste was so good its super hot which is good u cant eat Ramen all cold. But definitely I will be stopping by next time I come here. Thank you so much for everyone there I appreciate it and for your service very pleased by this.
