Mr. Sushi

This was my third visit here and we’d been satisfied that last two visits so we’re happy to come back.

The two stars are just for the sushi which half we loved and half was decent. The service is what makes my score so low. I sincerely hope the manager or owner of this establishment reads this.

We dined here yesterday (12/10/23) and arrived at 8:15pm. Both Yelp and Google say this business closes at 9:30pm on a Sunday. Upon entering I’m greeted by a younger guy who was a host from what I could tell. I tell him how many people are in our party (3) he proceeds to look at his phone to check the time and says to me “all right” and seats us.
Halfway through our meal at 8:45pm the seats at the bar were all picked up while we were eating right next to the bar. At 9:00pm while my husband is still eating the come to take the soy sauces from our table. Our server Sienna brought us our food and never came back to our table to check on us. I got up once to address some staff that was filling, soy sauces in the middle of the restaurant for some additional condiments, and upon getting uninterested and bothered responses from them I let them know I would find my server myself. At 9:07pm all the seats that where not being occupied by a patron where up on a table. At 9:09pm I’m waiting for my husband and daughter by the hostess stand, and the young man, who appeared to be the host, asked me if I needed anything. I let him know that I was waiting for my husband and daughter to exit the restroom, and he proceeded to tell me that they walked out. I confidently told him that they were in the restroom. He said he saw them walk out. I let him know again that they were in the restroom and I was waiting for them. As if I was not allowed to wait for them. At 9:12pm as we are getting ready to walk out the door a couple comes into dine and the host ask them if there there for takeout because they’re no longer seating people. The couple seems confused since the door says they close at 9:30pm but they turn around and leave.

I have never felt so rushed or unwanted in a restaurant. With how expensive it is to dine out and as frequently as we get to do it the last thing we should be made to feel like we are a bother. There was no manager or supervisor on staff and it seemed that the entire crew was doing everything they could to make sure that we were out of there before 9:30pm. Horrible dining experience! We will never go back! If you’re considering eating here, save your money!

SECOND TRY WAS EXCELLENT. Food was good, lots of options for sushi and rolls. Highly recommended. Atmosphere is fine - lots of room and open seats. The rolls were very good. Some were pricey but overall worth what we got. Will definitely be back.

I ate here today for lunch and I would personally not recommend it. I ordered the udon, which when receiving it, to my dismay there were oysters. The appearance of these had not been foretold anywhere on the menu, it was a complete surprise. Around 3/4 through eating my soup, I crunched on a piece of oyster shell, which was frankly disgusting and killed my appetite for the remainder of the meal. On top of this, I detected an off smell about the lemonade when I received it, I couldn’t place what was wrong, but it wasn’t normal. On top of all of this, the tables were very closely packed together and it was very hard to maneuver throughout the restaurant. In summary, I received oyster soup, drank odd lemonade, and could barely move. Would not recommend.

Horrible Horrible service , I got my role it's full of mayo , "Healty" salmon they have turned it in to deadly cholestrol injection , I reorder 2 more roles forgot to mention that if there is any sauce let him not add on the roll , been seating here waiting for one of the useless waiters not to look at the TV avoid me and ask me if I need anything .Sushi should be healthy , you shoukd taste the fish. your eating Mayo and Sriracha most probably to hide something they overload the sauces on the roles , hey for a 60$ I can get the best stake burger out there and enjoy the meat without cover up mayo. Stay away from this place.

We went there on a Saturday so it was packed and busy. But surprisingly we got table right away. Their sushi are very good, everything other than sushi are just ok but they’re worth the price. Ramen and udon are ok but there are so many places with better ramen in the area, so it’s a no for me (especially the ramen since it’s not worth $18 in my opinion). Service is very good, everyone is friendly. It was our first visit so we tend to try everything. Definitely will go back but will be more careful with food selection.

Everything thing is Fantastic the Food is full of flavor one starting with the Spicy Tuna Poppers. My favorite is the Fire Ball Salmon Roll that was recommended by the sushi chef it sent my taste buds on a crazy journey and everything after that didn’t disappoint from the Rainbow Roll to a Crispy Scallop roll I have been to multiple sushi locations and none of them has been as flavorful We definitely be Back 100/100

Now the bad news. I came here today by myself. There were maybe like 8 other people inside. The bar was closed for seating, so I got a table. Food took forever to come. Again, nice food. BUT NOT A SOUL CHECKED ON ME AFTER THAT.

I was in the middle of the restaurant, so it wasn't a matter of being tucked into a corner. The staff went around me & checked tables behind & beside me. Hmm... I don't want to speculate as to why this was, but it felt like shit.

I had to ask for to go boxes, my bill, and even had to double my efforts to flag someone down to run my card! Godddddamm! There were more employees there than customers... there really isn't a reason to ignore a customer. Weird, unwelcome vibe.

It's not a sushi place I need to return to. I'd rather try to mop up the ocean.

1 STAR Im so DISAPPOINTED Have BRAGGED about this place, havent eaten here in a year. My friend graciously got us delivery. My bento box food was cold, the mussels werent prepared right, And i didnt get Katsu chicken. Her sushi was horrendous! Im embarrassed that I talked so highly of the food and was so disappointed. Food is good..Customer service isnt. Called me to tell me they hadnt even started working on my order at the same time it was scheduled to be delivered. Alright, that sucks, but Im sure they will make it up to me... but no, no offer of any makeup for a 40+ minute delay. Not great and although I like the food, I cant depend on them anymore so would advise against them.

Food is pretty good, but a few things on the menu didnt measure up to what we hoped for. Overall though, Id say its a solid choice to try for anyone venturing out for a new sushi spot. It does take quite a while to get your food though and it is a bit loud and stuffy when it is full. Can be a bit overwhelming if you like a relaxing peaceful meal. The last time we went, they off the order wrong after waiting 30 min. The replacement took another 30 minutes and it ended up coming out in pieces for me to assemble myself. Disappointing. Not sure we will be back, but for a one time thing, its not too bad.

This little gem was such a treat. We were greeted kindly and waited on by the staff. The food came out timely and was delicious. We had ordered a Bento Box and the portion was quite the size for its price. We will be returning! Thank you Mr. Sushi and Staff!

We LOVED our experience! We got the medium sashimi plate, baked mussels, dynamite appetizer, and pineapple sake (get this, you wont regret it!) The sashimi was all fresh and nice huge slices. The cucumbers that came on the sashimi plate were out of this world delicious and crunchy. We live in Utah now but come back home frequently. We will DEFINITELY be back! We got the 30 piece sashimi plate for $55 and the Dynamite appetizer for $9 (both pictured).

Favorite sushi restaurant in Santa Clarita! My family has been coming here for years and we love it. Sushi chef, Kadak is very accommodating in special request, and the rest of the staff is great as well. Sushi here is fresh and delicious!!

This was my first time here upon recommendation from my MIL. I had the bento box with teriyaki salmon and the chefs choice nigiri. My husband and MIL got a few different sushi rolls, and we all shared bits and pieces. The salmon teriyaki was decent, but the nigiri was probably the best Ive ever had. 100% getting the nigiri again when we go back. 4 stars for food because I wasnt super impressed with the tempura, and the imitatiom crab really brought down the sushi, but the edamame was perfect. Service was good but pretty basic. I didnt love the atmosphere of the place. It felt cramped and basic, but not necessarily bad. Definitely not a detergent for going again.

I m at a complete loss as to why the sushi bars in this area insist on dowsing the rolls in eel sauce. I had to request no eel sauce for my roll (which I ve never seen come with eel sauce.) The salmon sushi was chewy and cut was very thick The sushi guy was friendly though. The reason for the three stars for atmosphere is because even though I was the first person this morning to sit at the sushi bar the counter was sticky, ugh. Unfortunately I will not be back.

I have been a customer of this place for a long time. Today s dining experience was horrible. I waited 15 mins to order a drink and 45 mins for my food. On top of that, I was asked to switch table so they could accommodate other parties. I guess is time to move on.

Service has gone on a downward spiral since re-opening after COVID. I finished my drink and I was never offered a refill, my food took so long to be prepared and the table next to us got their food all mixed up and the sushi chef refused to remake the dish. Total chaos.

Ok, this a tough one. I don t want to give people the wrong impression. It is far, far from bad sushi but not mind-blowing sushi either. That being said, this is a great local everyday sushi spot. Dine in or take out is pretty solid (I know, take out sushi?? What self respecting sushi eater does take out? This is a habit left over from the pandemic, lol.) Anyhow, come check it out. It does get packed on weekends so prepare to wait. Parking: This spot is in a strip mall with other restaurants, so on busy nights, it can be difficult to get parking.

Walked in and not one person acknowledge that we were there. Three young men were at the entrance and they all ignored us. I asked if anyone was going to acknowledge us and one of the young men just said his shift was over. Was looking forward to eat there, but I just walked away and left.

Go there on a Friday night with a party of 3 and it s busy. No worries, waited 20 minutes. Get to my table and they cleaned the table, but don t even bother to check the seats. Some noodles left over but thankfully only had 3 people so I could sit elsewhere. Again, waiting for a long time to place an order. Sounds like they re understaffed. Finally order and wait 20-30 minutes to get sushi. We finish some rolls and were interested in more. We re waiting again lol and then our server tells us that he missed telling us last call because he s training someone. I m good but my buddies are still hungry. It s good sushi don t get me wrong, but man service really was bad.

My family is a regular at Mr. Sushi and the food never fails. Staff is always welcoming, and we always leave empty plates. Their portions are great with the sashimi! They re pretty thick cut and you get the most bang for your buck. Fantastic place. Bless

Went in at 8:50pm. 90% of the chairs were on top of the tables, and a couple of customers were inside. Hostess immediately stated that the last call for food was at 9pm. I asked, Arent you open until 10pm which she replied yes. So we went to the sushi bar and sat down. Sushi chief said last call 9pm. Okay, we will place our order now. He said no. So we got up and left. We went to Sushi 661, which also closes at 10pm. We arrived at about 9:20pm. There were 15 or so customers in there, and we sat at Sushi bar ordered our food, and had a great time as always when we go there. So Mr Sushi will never see us again!

Website says theyre open until 10pm...walked in at 8:50pm for a quick roll/saki after a softball game. Greeted with, last call for food at 9pm. Chairs already on tables, other patrons still in restaurant. Not friendly, not very polite. Left without bothering to order anything...VERY DISAPPOINTING!!! Completely opposite experience from 1st visit a few months ago.

The Slowest Restaurant in all of Santa Clarita. You will be waiting a long time for your food if you order take out. I dont know how many delivery drivers have dropped the order because they were sitting around at the restaurant for 30 minutes just to be told it will be another 20 minutes. It might be time to look for another spot when I want take out sushi

Best sushi in town hands down! The only downside to that is it s always packed and takeout orders can be a long wait and or not available sometimes. Either way, get in early and have some amazing sushi and amazing service!

Mr. Sushi can be an amazing experience or it could leave you with a bad after taste. It s been up and down for me. When the waitress are there, the place runs smoothly, when it s just the waiters you will be ignored. I miss their all you can eat, but that s gone now. Thank you COVID. But all and all. Good food.

Great place for a date night. The sushi and all other menu items were delicious! Customer service was superb, each and every server took the time to come by our table and take empty plates with a smile and a fun interaction

Food was good, but the server was in a bad mood, she was lazy , she was yawning and only came 1 time to ask us if we were good, but overall food was good but will not return due to poor service

We went there on a Saturday so it was packed and busy. But surprisingly we got table right away. Their sushi are very good, everything other than sushi are just ok but they re worth the price. Ramen and udon are ok but there are so many places with better ramen in the area, so it s a no for me (especially the ramen since it s not worth $18 in my opinion). Service is very good, everyone is friendly. It was our first visit so we tend to try everything. Definitely will go back but will be more careful with food selection.

Came in during busy hours and they still managed to get my friend and I seated and get all of our food out. Staff are very friendly and cheerful and food was delicious. Definitely gonna come back sometime!

Well....this is by far in my honest opinion the vety best sushi restaurant in Santa Clarita!! We had 8 people with us and everyone all thought the same... we have been a few times already and the sushi is consistently great!! We were referred by a close friend and man they were right!!! Thank you everyone at Mr. Sushi!!!

Sad that they dont do all you can eat anymore. But! I love their ramen and bento box! You can make the ramen a combo and the bento comes with 2 items. I find myself always craving the ramen (i get the original broth ).The Songs salmon sashimi and white fish sashimi is also delicious.

Excellent sushi, tastes fresh and has great flavor. One of the best sushi spots in the SCV. Prices are fair and comparable to other similar competitors. The restaurant inside is nice and clean. The only hassle is the parking lot, tiny spots, feels like youll eventually get a door ding here, but thats not their fault.

Best in Santa clarita. Sushi is outstanding. Staff is great. Headsup, they do get VERY busy at lunch. 12noon is brutal. Get there early.

I love this place.food is extremely delicious. The one thing I hate is seeing the lady owner yelling and humiliating her employees. She yells at her employees infront of customers. She has no owner work ethics. She is so unprofessional. I will be reporting. Her!!!!

THE BEST SUSHI RESTAURANT!!! I this place. The price is the best for the best quality of fresh fish. The environment is friendly and great. The waiters , especially the owners, are super nice and do their job great. This is a go-to place. I promise you wont regret it.

This restaurant is the best. They have good prices and everything is fresh. The service is awsome and you dont have to wait very long. They have job oppurtunites. My mom is a little sensitive with sushi because she likes fresh sushi. But she loved this place so much. We drive 2 hours to get here and it is so worth it. Please check it out!!!

Definitely my Santa Clarita go to for the takeout sushi craving. Although AYCE does not exist anymore (at the time of this review), I m more than willing to order here because of the nice quality and generous nigiri/sashimi portions here (compared to some other places in town). I had a great conversation with the new owner several years ago about certain fish and import costs. I m glad that to see he strives to put the best he can out there. The constantly crowded restaurant serves as evidence of success especially in the pandemic environment

LOVE THIS PLACE THE LIVE CHICKEN WAS SO FRESH. It was very cheap at only $30. Everyone should order the live chicken. The chefs were so talented and friendly and the service was amazing. Highly recommended

As an avid cross continental food connoisseur I can say that the service at this restaurant and homely atmosphere provided by the owners was more than just a bite of food. Rather, it is a cross cultural exchange (at a reasonable price nonetheless).

Manager refused to accept a valid $50 gift card today. He is the new owner and stole $50 from the person that gave it to us. Thief and poor business example. Oh, we walked out. They said it was already made and since we refused to pay for it their words were we will just hold till another customer orders and give it to them . Ewwwww. Health dept will love that one. Avoid!!

This use to be a great and enjoyable place to eat. Today it was horrible! After calling and confirming not busy we arrived about 5 minutes later. Wait time to sit was long, after ordering we still waited close to 45 minutes for simple bento boxes. Undercooked sushi rice, SLOW service, and our 5 year old didn t get his ice cream until after all the food was finished rather than being allowed to eat it while we were ALL hoping to eat together. Last time here
